REAR LIFTGATE CLOSES IN THE WINTER TIME WITHOUT WARNING. NO PROBLEM IN WARM MONTHS. HAD COMPLAINED OF THIS ISSUE SINCE I OWNED THE CAR AND WAS ADVISED BY LEXUS DEALER THAT THIS HAPPENS IN THE WINTER. FOR THE MOST PART I WAS ABLE TO CATCH IT BECAUSE IT STARTS BEEPING NOW IT JUST SHUTS AND FELL ON ME WHEN I WAS LOADING GROCERIES AT THE SUPERMARKET. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE STRUTS BECAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM ALSO HAPPENED WITH THE HOOD WHEN I WAS GETTING A JUMP WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. LEXUS OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE HOOD STRUTS BUT NOT REAR LIFT GATE. THE ONLY TIME THE HOOD IS OPEN IS WHEN IT'S AT LEXUS FOR SERVICE SO THAT IS NO HELP TO ME.I NO LONGER USE MY TRUNK IN THE WINTER. LEXUS SHOULD MAKE PEOPLE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. I DON'T HAVE THE DATE BUT LEXUS SHOULD HAVE IT ON FILE.
WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED, THE FRONT BUMPER CAME LOOSE AFTER A MINOR CONTACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. ALMOST THE SAME HAPPENED A YEAR EARLIER WHILE CAR WAS BARELY MOVING AND REARENDED A SMALL HONDA CAR, WHICH WAS NOT EVEN SCRATCHED, THE WHOLE FRONT END THEN HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE SCREWS AND PLASTIC FASTENERS ATTACHING THE BUMPER TO THE BODY BROKE OFF. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 LEXUS RX350. AFTER CRASHING INTO A SNOW EMBANKMENT THE FRONT BUMPER WAS CRACKED AND LOOSE. NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, WHEN THE DEALER WAS CALLED, THEY INFORMED HER TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THE BUMPER COST $900 TO REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
10 MONTH OLD 2010 LEXUS RX 350 HAS LOOSE BUMPER ALL THROUGHOUT. POSSIBLE THE VERY BOTTOM GENTLY HIT SOMETHING AND NOW THE ENTIRE BUMPER IS FALLING OFF NOW. BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AND HE SAID IF IT'S HIT IN THE RIGHT SPOT THE PLASTIC BUMPER WILL BE LOOSE, BUT WON'T FALL OFF, HOWEVER IF IMPACT WAS ON ONE SIDE ONLY, WHY IS THE BUMPER COMPLETELY SEPARATED UNDER THE HEADLIGHT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR AS WELL AND THE GAP IS INCREASING. I LOOKED ONLINE AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND IT'S SPECULATED THAT THE BUMPER WAS PUT ON WITH TOO FEW CLIPS TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. BEWARE, THE 2010 LEXUS RX 350 IS POORLY MADE AS A BUMPER SHOULD NOT COME OFF FROM SOMEONE'S KNEE OR LITTLE SCRATCH. AREN'T CARS SUPPOSED TO BE MADE TO WITHSTAND A LITTLE DINGS WITHOUT COMPROMISING AN ENTIRE BUMPER?! *TR
THE AUTOMATIC LIFTGATE ON THE BACK OF MY NEW LEXUS SUV CRUSHED MY MOTHER AGAINST THE DECK WHILE SHE WAS REACHING IN TO LOAD SOMETHING INTO THE CAR. SHE WAS NEARLY DECAPITATED AND THERE DID NOT SEEM TO BE ANY SAFETY MECHANISM THAT WOULD STOP THE LIFTGATE FROM CLOSING, SUCH AS YOU WOULD FIND ON A GARAGE DOOR. I FRANTICALLY PUSHED THE BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB AND FINALLY THE DOOR STOPPED CLOSING. AT THAT POINT MY MOTHERS NECK WAS PINED AGAINST THE DECK. I HIT THE BUTTON AGAIN AND THANKFULLY IT LIFTED BACK UP. MY MOTHER ENDED UP WITH A WRENCHED NECK AND BAD HEADACHE. WE TESTED IT A FEW MORE TIMES BY HITTING THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND STICKING OUR ARM UNDER THE DOOR. AGAIN, THE DOOR NEVER SENSED THAT SOMETHING WAS IN THE WAY AND CONTINUED TO CLOSE. I DON'T KNOW IF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IT SEEMED WORTH REPORTING GIVEN THE SOFTWARE PROBLEMS THAT TOYOTA/LEXUS SEEM TO BE HAVING CURRENTLY. *TR
