MY 2000 LINCOLN LS HAS ALLREADY BAD FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AT 42000 MILES. THE LEFT SET HAS BEEN REPLACED A MONTH AGO (SEEMS THAT THE BEARINGS WERE NOT PROPERLY GREASED AT ASSEMBLY PLANT) AT A COST OF OVER $200.00 AND NOW THE RIGHT HAND BEARING IS FAILING.THIS FAILURE COULD CAUSE THE WHEEL TO COME OFF AT GREAT PERIL TO THE PERSONS IN THE VEHICLE (INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH)

ONE OF THE TIRES WAS LOSING AIR DUE TO A SIDE WALL PLUG THAT WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALER WITHOUT THE CONSUMER'S KNOWLEDGE. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. (GOODYEAR TIRE) *YH. CONSUMERS CO-WORKER NOTICED THAT THE TIRE WAS LOW, AIR WAS THEN PUT IN THE TIRE, HOWEVER IT WAS THEN DISCOVERED THAT A FINISHING NAIL WAS EMBEDDED IN THE SIDEWALL, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE GOODYEAR DEALER, AND THE MECHANIC KEPT THE TIRE FOR A FEW HOURS TO PERFORM A TEST, HE THEN STATED THE NAIL DID NOT GO THROUGH THE TIRE AND IT WAS NOT NECESSARY TO PATCH OR PURCHASE A NEW TIRE, ON MONDAY JUNE 24, 2002, CONSUMER NOTICED THE TIRE WAS LOW AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO GOODYEAR, AND THE MECHANIC STATED HE WOULD INVESTIGATE THE TIRE FURTHER, THE MECHANICS DISCOVERED THAT THE TIRE HAD A SIDEWALL PLUG AND STATED THAT IT WAS NOT RECOMMENDED TO REPAIR THE TIRE IN THAT MANNER OR EVEN DRIVE WITH THAT TYPE OF REPAIR, A NEW TIRE WOULD NEED TO BE PURCHASED BECAUSE IT WAS ILLEGAL TO PATCH OR PLUG IN THE SIDEWALL, THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THEY NEVER PLUGGED OR PATCH THE SIDEWALL.(GOODYEAR TIRES)*JB *JG
ALL FOUR TIRES ARE CUPPING, AND AT 27000 MILES MANUFACTURER WANTS TO REPLACE THE TIRES. P215/60R16, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, 27000 MILES MOUNTED ON LINCOLN LS, 2000. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TIRES HAD BEEN ROTATED THREE TIMES BUT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE CUPPED AND SHOWS WEAR. *YH
VEHICLE HAD A BLOWOUT WITH FIRESTONE BRAND TIRES (FIREHAWK LH P215/60 R16 94V)THAT SEEMS TO HAVE THE SAME STRUCTURAL DAMAGE AS THOSE SEEN IN FORD EXPLORERS. *JG
SIDEWALL CAME COMPLETELY OFF THE TIRE. MILEAGE ON THE AUTOMOBILE AT THE TIME WAS 6,000 MILES. TIRE HAS NO WORN TREADS, NOR HAS THERE BEEN ANY ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS INVOLVED THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN.*AK (TIRESIZE: P215/60R16)
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE RIGHT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR TIRES WERE MAKING A BUMPING NOISE. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL TIRE SERVICE CENTER AND DISCOVERED BOTH TIRES WERE SEPARATING. REPLACED TIRES IMMEDIATELY DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. *AK (DOT NUMBER: W2X8 TIRESIZE: 2156016)
MY WIFE REPORTED THIS INCIDENT YESTERDAY, BUT WITHOUT THE V.I.N. MOTOR TREND'S CAR OF THE YEAR HAD A MAJOR FAILURE WHILE I WAS DRIVING, FORTUNATELY IN A PARKING LOT, AT A VERY LOW SPEED. THERE WAS A SPONTANEOUS LOSS OF CONTROL (THERE WAS NO CONTACT WITH ANYTHING ELSE), FOLLOWED BY PARTIAL DETACHMENT OF THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF FRACTURE OF A BOLT SECURING THE LOWER CONTOL ARM. THE VEHICLE WAS RENDERED UNDRIVEABLE, AS THE WHEEL WAS TURNED 90 DEGREES. OBVIOUSLY, A SIMILAR INCIDENT AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED WOULD LIKELY HAVE RESULTED IN MAJOR INJURY. I THOUGHT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO REPORT THIS TO YOU BECAUSE, INCREDIBLY, IT IS FORD MOTOR CO.'S POLICY NOT TO DO SO AUTOMATICALLY!
IN APRIL OF 2000, I PURCHASED A NEW LINCOLN LS, AND I HAVE HAD 2 FIRESTONE TIRES BLOW APART AT THE SEAMS. IN INCIDENT #1, THE TIRE TOTALLY SEPARATED INTO 2 PIECES, AND IN INCIDENT #2, THE TIRE BLEW OUT ON THE INSIDE WALL, CREATING A WHOLE ABOUT 8" IN DIAMETER.
