TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LINCOLN MKZ. WHILE PARKING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A LIGHT POLE. THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK ON THE LIGHT POLE AND A TOW TRUCK PULLED THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY REQUESTED A BLACK BOX DATA RECORDER TO BE INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEVICE WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE AND IT DETECTED A FAILURE WITH THE BRAKES AND THE THROTTLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,195.
