The contact owns a 2017 Lincoln MKZ. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, he observed a white blooming substance between the windshield and under the hood. The contact stated that he also observed a spot on the passenger’s side of the hood that was bubbling up. Additionally, the contact observed corrosion on the seamline of the underside of the hood, and the aluminum shell separated from the steel underside. The vehicle was taken to a body shop where it was diagnosed that the hood and hood mounts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the hood needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 LINCOLN MKZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HOOD AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES SINCE JUNE OF 2018 TO CHECK IF THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE WAS OPEN AND/OR UNLATCHED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HOOD WAS NOT OPEN OR UNLATCHED SEEMINGLY. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. CLASSIC FORD LINCOLN (8540 TYLER BLVD, MENTOR, OHIO 44060 (440) 266-3000) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE REOCCURRENCE TWICE BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000. *DT *JB
