CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT DEAD. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO BACK OR IF PLACED IN DRIVE, IT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. SCC *JB
THE STEREO SYSTEM HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE NEW SYSTEM HAS THE SAME FAILURE. THE STEREO BUTTON LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON AT NIGHT AND THE STEREO ITSELF DOES NOT STAY ON FOR THE REQUIRED 10 MINUTES AFTER VEHICLE SHUT-OFF (UNTIL DOORS ARE OPENED). *LA THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER LOCK AFTER CAR IS IN DRIVE. THE HORN NO LONGER HONKS WHEN THE AUTO-KEY LOCK IS ACTIVATED. *LA
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY STEERING WHEEL COLUMN WILL WANDER INTO ANOTHER LANE. MECHANIC FROM DEALERSHIP TOLD CONSUMER THAT STEERING BOX MEMORY WAS DEFECTIVE, WAS LEAKING OUT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE.*AK
AIR BAG BLINKS 3-6 TIMES AND THEN STAYS ON. DEALER WAS INFORMED THAT AIR BAG CAN MALFUNCTION, TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK

VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED, SPUN AROUND SEVERAL TIMES, AND FRONTAL HIT AGAIN BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING, VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER 4 TIMES, WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED, DID NOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK
BRAKE FAILURE. FIRST TIME I WAS ABLE TO STOP. MY HUSBAND NEXT DROVE THE CAR AND COULD NOT FIND ANY FAULT WITH BRAKES. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN TO NEW ORLEANS WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS EXCEPT IT HAD A TENDENCY TO HYDROPLANE DURING A HEAVY RAIN. SEVERAL DAYS LATER HE WAS PREPARING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION. THE BRAKES FAILED TO HOLD AND HE BUMPED THE CAR AHEAD WHICH HIT ANOTHER WHICH HIT ANOTHER. NO INJURIES BUT DAMAGE TO TWO OF THE VEHICLES. CAR WAS RETURNED TO SUPERIOR LINCOLN TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED AND TO HAVE REAR BUMPER REPAIRED. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR PLASTIC BUMPER AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. WE PICKED UP THE CAR ON 8/14/01 AND AFTER TESTING THE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING HOME EVERYTHING SEEMED O.K. THAT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING FROM A 4TH FLOOR PARKING GARAGE THE BRAKES FAILED COMPLETLY AND WE HEADON CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BLOCK WALL. THERE WERE 4 PEOPLE IN THE CAR (ALL HAD THEIR SEAT BELTS FASTENED) AND ALL SUSTAINED BRUISES AND CONTUSIONS. FORTUNATLY THERE WERE NO BROKEN BONES BUT WE ARE STILL NURSING VARIOUS ACHES AND PAINS. THE 2 PEOPLE IN THE REAR SEAT SUFFERED FROM WIPLASH AND SEAT BELT BRUISES AND SORE CHESTS. ONE THING THAT WORKED WAS THE FRONT AIR BAGS THAT SAVED MY WIFE AND I FROM ANY FURTHER INJURY.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT 55MPH VEHICLE RAN OFF THE ROAD AND RAN THROUGH SOME BUSHES, AND THEN IT HAD A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH A TREE. SKIDDED ON THE NOSE OF VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS COVERED BY RECALL 00V200000 CONCERNING JACKING INSTRUCTIONS. CONSUMER HAS YET TO RECEIVE CORRECT INFORMATION ON HOW TO USE JACK FOR HIS VEHICLE. *AK *SLC
CONSUMER WAS GOING 75MPH SET ON CRUISE CONTROL, WHEN APPROACHING A CURVE CONUSMER APPLIED BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN,AND AS BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED IT SPEEDED UP VEHICLE. CONSUMER WAS COACHED FROM LIMOUSINE SERVICE ON A 2- WAY RADIO HOW TO CONTROL VEHICLE. CONSUMER TURNED CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH OFF, AND VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL DRIVE. PRESSING BRAKES, IT SENT WRONG SIGNAL AND ENGAGED CRUISE CONTROL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PUDDLE FAN BELT CAME LOOSE. HAS NOT CONTACTED A DEALER YET.*AK
BRAKE PEDAL WILL FADE OUT AND NOT HOLD, CONSUMER HAS TO PUMP BRAKE TO GET VEHICLE TO STOP, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE SAME DAY PROBLEM REOCCURRED, WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY CONSUMER STEPPED ON BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, CONSUMER HAD TO PUMP BRAKES AGAIN.*AK CONSUMER STATES BRAKES NEEDS TO BE PUMPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY A FORD SPECIALIST THAT THE FADE WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE,ALSO THE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR WAS REPLACED, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS/WASHERS WERE REPLACED,THE WINDSHIELD WAS ALSO REPLACED, AND THE ENGINE HEAD GASKETS WERE REPLACED.*JB
WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH CONSUMER TURNED ON CRUISE CONTROL, WAS GETTING READY TO EXIT AND PUT ON BRAKES TO CUT OFF SPEED CONTROL, VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN, AND THEN ACCELERATED BACK TO 60 MPH. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID SWITCH WAS BAD THAT WORKED WITH BRAKES. THIS SWITCH ALSO KNOCKED OUT REAR BRAKE LIGHTS. *AK THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAD FAILED TO ALERT THE DRIVER. *YH
WINDOWS WILL NOT GO UP AT TIMES OR GO DOWN AT TIMES. ALSO, RADIO WILL INTERMITTENTLY WORK, AND OTHER ELECTRICAL PARTS WILL NOT WORK. ALSO. HAS CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER STATESD THAT IT COULD BE BECAUSE OF COMPUTER MODULE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 40-45 MPH, PASSENGER'S AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. *SLC
AFTER COMING TO A STOP, FOOT ON BRAKE, VEHICLE WILL SURGE FORWARD, BRAKES WILL NOT STOP IT. HAPPENED 4 TIMES SO FAR, LAST TIME CONSUMER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE NOT KNOWN. *AK
NAR 03-24-2003 MR. WHEN THE CONSUMER HIT THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND THE PEDAL WOULD GO DOWN LOW. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER FIX, THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION DUE TO THE BRAKES FAILING WHEN THE CONSUMER NEEDED TO COME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AFTER THE REPAIR WERE MADE, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM, HOWEVER ON 7/10/02 THE CONSUMER WIFE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND REAR ENDED A TRUCK AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
INSIDE GRILL ON FRONT WINDSHIELD IS CAUSING A SEVERE GLARE AND POOR VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING TOWARD/FACING THE SUN. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND UNWILLING TO ASSIST IN THIS MATTER. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
KEYLESS PAD ON DRIVER DOOR IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. LAST 2 BUTTONS LOCK VEHICLE, BUT HEAD AND TAILLIGHTS COME ON. SOMETIMES THEY STAY ON FOR 30 SECONDS, OTHER TIMES THEY STAY ON ALL NIGHT, AND DRAIN BATTERY. LINCOLN HAS TOLD CONSUMER THAT IT WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALER 5-6 TIMES FOR REPAIR, BUT UNABLE TO REMEDY.*AK THE FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER STATED THAT THERE IS NO REMEDY FOR THE PROBLEM UNLESS THE MANUFACTURER REDESIGNS A NEW MODULAR. *YH
TRUNK LIGHT FAILED TO GO OFF WHEN CONSUMER PLACED CLOTHES IN TRUNK. CONSUMER MAINTAINED THAT LIGHT COULD HAVE BEEN ON WHOLE TIME, BUT HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT. CONSUMER PROCEEDED DOWN THE ROAD AND SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. PULLED INTO DEALER, GO OUT OF VEHICLE, AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER VEHICLE. DEALER POPPED UP TRUNK, AND FIRE JUMPED RIGHT IN THEIR FACES. DEALER REACHED UNDER TRUNK AND PULLED OUT A BULB. TOLD CONSUMER THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF FIRE. CONSUMER FELT THAT TRUNK LIGHT WAS POOR DESIGNED. *AK FORD MOTOR COMPANY REPLACED THIS VEHICLE WITH A 2001 MODEL
AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE PARKED VEHICLE. THEN, WITHOUT A WARNING VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHERE THE SAFETY SERVICE WAS PERFORMED THE WEEK BEFORE. *AK
SINCE JULY 26, 2000, WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AND HITTING ANY TYPE OF BUMP, VIBRATION COMES UP THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. PITMAN ARM HAS PLAYED AND HAS MOVEMENT UP AND DOWN. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP HAD NO SOLUTION FOR PROBLEM. *AK THE DRIVER SAYS HE FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH SWAY BAR OR STABLIZER BAR REMOVED. *YH
WHEN DRIVING LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE WONDERS OFF TO THE LEFT. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
LOWER PLASTIC OUTSIDE DOOR PANEL BOWED OUT FROM HOT SUN & COULD NOT OPEN DOOR WITHOUT PUSHING PANEL IN FROM OUTSIDE. SERVICEMAN USED DOUBLE STICK TAPE TO HOLD IT IN.
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE PULLED TO BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES. PROBLEM WAS NOTED MORE WHEN DRIVING AT 65 MPH. *AK SWAY SIDE TO SIDE AT 65 MPH. *YH

THE SPACE USED TO PUSH ON THE HORN IS TOO HARD, AND ALSO TOO SMALL TO APPLY QUICKLY ENOUGH. DEALER SAYS IT'S THE DESIGN. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING 15 MPH DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT INDICATION. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATON. *AK
SUNLIGHT CAUSES A REFLECTION OF THE DEFROST VENTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD, THE IMAGES ARE AT EYE LEVEL AND BECOME VERY DISTRACTING AS THE VEHICLE MOVES AND CAUSES POOR VISIBILITY.
PART OF INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL LIGHT UP ONLY WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE ON, AND THE OTHER PART WILL LIGHT UP ONLY WHEN TURNING ON IGINTION, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE GAUGES. *AK
OWNERS MANUAL STATES ALL LINCOLN TOWN CARS CONTAIN FRONT RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE AIR BAG, HOWEVER CONSUMERS VEHICLE IS A TOWN CAR LIMO AND IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS FEATURE, MANUAL IS NOT ACCURATE AND SHOULD BE CHANGED APPROPRIATELY. YH
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF THE REAR DOORS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK AS THEY SHOULD (THE CHILD LOCK FEATURE IS NOT SET) THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. NLM
LOCATION OF THE SEAT BELT CONNECTION ON THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND CAUSES DISCOMFORT ON CONSUMERS HIP WHEN DRIVING, DEALER STATED IT WAS A DESIGN ERROR. NLM

WHEN THE CONSUMER PUSHES THE LAST TWO BUTTONS ON THE PAD TO LOCK CAR THE HEAD LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS COME ON, SOMETIMES THEY STAY ON CAUSING THE BATTERY TO GO DEAD, FORD EXCHANGED THE VEHICLE FOR THE 2000 MODEL AND THE NEW VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME DEFECT, FORD DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. *MJS
BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SPONGY AND MAKES NOISE WHEN APPLIED, BRAKES GRAB WHEN APPLIED, AND VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT DUE TO FAULTY BRAKES. LEFT FRONT HEADREST WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN, RIGHT FROTN HEADREST TILTS WHEN IT'S MOVED UP. LEFT OUTER MIRROR GLASS IS LOOSE, THE MIRROR RETAINING CLIP WAS BROKEN, DEALER REPLACED GLASS. VEHICLE AVERAGES LESS THAN 10 MILES PER GALLON IN THE CITY AND 15 MILES PER GALLON FOR HIGHWAY, CONSUMER STATES THAT THE ENGINE IDLES TOO FAST, DEALER STATED THAT TIMING COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED LOCALLY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD NO DISTRIBUTOR CAP ON THIS MODEL. *SLC

THE 2000 LINCOLN CAR I OWN THE ENGINE CONSUME EXCESS OIL THE DEALER STATES A QUART OF OIL USED EVERY 900 MILES DRIVEN IS WITHIN SPECIFICATION THE DEALER MANUAL STATES THE OIL SHOULD BE CHANGED EVERY 5000 MILES IS THEIR A PROBLEM WITH THE 4.6 LITER ENGINE IN THIS CAR. *AK
I HAVE 7 VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO NURMURIOUS OTHER COMPANIES HAVE SAME PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NOT A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS??? ENCLOSED ARE PICTURES IF CAPIBLE OF EMAILING. NO SAFETY DEFECTS INCLUDED. *AK
CONSUMER ACCIDENTLY HIT THE GAS PEDAL INSTEAD OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AS A RESULT OF THEM BEING TO CLOSE TOGETHER. DEALER CONTACTED. MR
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP THREE DIFFERENT TIMES DUE TO THE BRAKE LIGHT GOING OUT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED FUSES, WIRES AND BRAKE SWITCH. THE REPAIRS THAT WERE PERFORMED WAS NOT AN ACTUAL FIX WITH FAILURE STILL REOCCURING. THE OWNER IS CONCERNED THAT SHE WILL BE REAR ENDED DUE TO BRAKE LIGHTS GOING OUT WITH NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL DID NOT DISENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PRESS THE OFF BUTTON ON THE STEERING COLUMN TO TURN OFF THE SPEED CONTROL. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO FAULTY TAIL LIGHT WIRING. *NLM *JB
