WITHIN A MILE OF LEAVING HOME, THE SEAT BELT LIGHT CAME ON & STARTED BEEPING. DRIVER GLANCED DOWN TO CHECK SEATBELT ONLY TO FIND THAT IT WAS COMING UNLATCHED. IN THE BRIEF SECONDS THAT IT TOOK TO GLANCE DOWN & BACK UP, DRIVER WAS ALREADY LEAVING THE ROAD AND IN A PANIC, ACCIDENTALLY HIT GAS INSTEAD OF BRAKE. CAR WAS TOTALLED. THE ONLY AIRBAG THAT DEPLOYED WAS THE STEERING WHEEL. DRIVER SUSTAINED SERIOUS TRAUMA INJURIES TO HEAD, RIBS, PELVIS, FEMUR AS WELL AS EXTENSIVE HEMATOMAS. DRIVER IS ALSO SUFFERING FROM STRESS RELATED TO ACCIDENT. DRIVER IS NOW RECOVERING WITH THE AID OF PHYSICAL THERAPY AND OTHER DEVICES FOR MOBILITY (WALKER, WHEELCHAIR, CANE, ETC.). DRIVER IS SON OF OWNER OF VEHICLE. *TR
VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH. VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 20 MINUTES, WAS EVALUATED AND NO FAILURES COULD BE FOUND. *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED CHIMING. I LOOKED THE PROBLEM UP ON LINE AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH LINCOLNS. THEY STATED THE PROBLEM IS IN THE CONNECTION AND THE REPAIR BY LINCOLN COST $700. MANY STATED AFTER FIXING THE DRIVER SIDE THE PASSENGER SIDE FAILED SOON AFTER. DECIDED TO NOT TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIR DUE TO COST AND CHANCE OF ANOTHER FAILURE. *TR
EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND IT CHIMES 5 TIMES REPEATS A COUPLE OF TIMES THEN SHUTS OFF. AFTER DOING ONLINE RESEARCH, LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON/COSTLY PROBLEM FOR THE 06. EVERY HALF HOUR IT BEEPS AGAIN 5 TIMES REPEATS A COUPLE OF TIMES THEN SHUTS OFF. FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL!
I WENT TO FILL MY GAS TANK, AND MY GAS TANK STARTED LEAKING. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THE GAS TANK HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND THE STRAP HOLDING THE TANK HAD RUSTED AND BROKE AWAY. I HAD THE TANK AND STRAP REPLACED AT A COST TO ME OF $632. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, FORD RAN A $60 TEST AND SAID IT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE PRETENSIONER AND THE AIR BAGS MIGHT NOT DEPLOY WITH THIS LIGHT ON. FORD'S COST TO FIX $750. FROM INTERNET INFORMATION IT IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM ON THE LINCOLNS, PARTICULAR AROUND THE 2006S. THE SERVICE MANAGER KNEW WHAT MY PROBLEM WAS RIGHT AWAY WHEN I SAID AIR BAG. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, OR HELP WITH THE REPAIR. *TR
RE: RECALL 13S08 / NHTSA RECALL 13V385 FORD DEALERS COULD NOT DO REPAIRS TIMELY. THIS IS A WORKING COMMERCIAL VEHICLE. BOUGHT PARTS FROM FORD AND HAD INDEPENDENT MECHANIC PERFORM REPAIR. FORD/LINCOLN REFUSED TO REIMBURSE. I FEEL THAT IN LIGHT OF THE FACT THAT THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, AND THAT THEIR REPRESENTATIVE DEALERS WERE NOT ABLE TO FIT US IN WITHIN A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME, THEY SHOULD REIMBURSE AT LEAST UP TO THE AMOUNT THEY REIMBURSE THROUGH DEALERS. THE REPAIRS WERE DONE 2 MONTHS AGO AND APPEAR TO BE SOLID. *TR
THIS WELL-MAINTAINED CAR IS KEPT IN A PRIVATE GARAGE. I CRANKED CAR IN THE MORNING AND AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. DROVE TO DEALER WITHOUT PROTECTION OF AN OPERATIONAL AIR BAG SYSTEM. DEALER IDENTIFIED PROBLEM AS PASSENGER SIDE, FRONT SEATBELT PRETENSIONER BUT THERE HAD BEEN NO PASSENGER IN CAR EITHER THE LAST TIME IT WAS DRIVEN OR AS THE CAR WAS CRANKED AND AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING A PROBLEM EXISTED. *TR
THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON FOR A DAY THEN GOES OFF AND A COUPLE DAYS LATER COME ON AGAIN. WE HAVEN'T TAKEN IT IN YET BUT WE WILL SOON. *TR
WHILE COMING TO A STOP, CAR ACCELERATED WHEN BRAKE WAS APPLIED. CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WHILE STANDING ON THE BRAKE, SMOKING THE BACK TIRES. THE BRAKES COULD NOT HOLD THE ACCELERATION AND GRADUALLY PUSHED INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD THAT WAS STOPPED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. WHILE PARKED, THE SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT SENSOR. ON THE 2006 LINCOLN TOWN CAR SIGNATURE LIMITED, THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS ARE ADJUSTABLE. THE PEDALS ARE CLOSE TOGETHER, THEREFORE, LEAVING LITTLE SPACE BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR. WHEN TRYING TO STOP, THE BRAKE AND, UNFORTUNATELY, ACCELERATOR PEDALS WERE BOTH BEING PRESSED AT THE SAME TIME. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS WHEN TRYING TO STOP FOR MY SPOUSE AND ME. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN FEB 2006. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR SERVICED. ON JUNE 3, 2014, I WAS LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY AND SAW A TRACTOR-TRAILER COMING DOWN THE ROAD. TRYING TO STOP, I PRESSED THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE HARDER TO STOP; HOWEVER, I WAS ALSO PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR HARDER. THIS CAUSED A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT BETWEEN THE TRACTOR-TRAILER AND ME. I WAS AIR LIFTED TO A TRAUMA CENTER. THE TRUCK DRIVER WAS ALSO INJURED. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. I CONSIDER THE ADJUSTABLE PEDALS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND THE OWNERS OF OF THE 2006 LINCOLN TOWN CAR SIGNATURE LIMIT8JSED WITH ADJUSTABLE PEDALS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THIS DANGER. *JS
WARNING LIGHT CAME ON BEEPED 5X IN A ROW SEVERAL TIMES STOPPED THEN REPEATED OVER AND OVER AS LONG AS WE WERE DRIVING. COST OVER 450.00 TO REPLACE SEAT BELT. THERE SEEM TO BE MANY OF THIS SAME PROBLEM LISTED. I HAVE HAD 7 TOWN CARS IN THE LAST 20 YEARS, NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I HAVE ALREADY HAD A RECALL REPAIR ON THE STEERING COLUMN. BUT, STILL LOVE THAT CAR!!! *TR
AIR BAG DASH LIGHT ON, THERE ARE 5 BEEPS FIVE TIMES EVERY HALF HOUR. REPAIR SHOP/LINCOLN DEALER SAYS IT'S A SEAT BELT SENSOR FAILURE. SEAT BELT MAKER WENT OUT OF BUSINESS. LINCOLN WILL NOT GUARANTEE THAT A REPLACEMENT BELT FROM THEIR STOCK WILL WORK. COST TO REPLACE SEAT BELT PARTS AND LABOR $700.00. PER MANY BLOG SITES THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD/LINCOLN HAS NOT ADDRESSED. WHEN QUESTIONED LINCOLN DEALER WILL NOT CONFIRM THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING REGULAR MAINTENANCE PERFORMED, THE TECHNICIAN NOTIFIED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V385000 (STEERING). THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, SHORTLY AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,301.
DRIVER WAS PARKING LINCOLN TOWN CAR. STEPPED ON BRAKE WHILE PUTTING CAR INTO PARK POSITION. CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED OVER CONCRETE PARKING STOP AND SLAMMED INTO AN ENTRANCE TO SHOPPING CENTER SIGN THAT WAS IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE. THE CAR ENDED UP WITH THE FRONT OF THE CAR AGAINST THE SIGN AND THE REAR WHEELS OF THE CAR UP AGAINST THE PARKING STOP. ALSO, THE REAR DOOR LOCKS FAILED, AND PASSENGERS WERE UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. UPDATED 06/10/14

THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ALARM TO GET YOUR ATTENTION SOUNDED. THIS ALARM OCCURS OFTEN AND IS DISCONCERTING. I TALKED WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM AND ASKED ON TWO OCCASIONS FOR A FREE DIAGNOSIS OF THE REASON OF THE AIRBAG LIGHT WARNING AND ALARM BUT WAS TURNED DOWN. I DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR OFTEN AS I AM NOT SURE IF THE AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE TAKING A LEFT TURN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROLLED INTERSECTION. WAS ABLE TO STOP CAR WITH BRAKE BEFORE COLLIDING WITH GAS STATION CURB/SIGNPOST. OF CONCERN IS THAT THIS CAR IS PART OF RECALL 13S08, I WAS NOTIFIED LAST FALL. WENT TO A DEALER PROMPTLY FOR A SAFETY INSPECTION ON 11/18/13. WAS TOLD VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. WAITED FOR DEALER TO CONTACT ME WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. NEVER GOT A CALL, BUT GOT A FOLLOW-UP LETTER FROM LINCOLN. WHILE DRIVING TO DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIR, THE INCIDENT HAPPENED BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE DEALER. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE SAFETY INSPECTION PROCESS. I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER WOULD HAVE CRASHED THE CAR. AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THERE IS NO WAY ANY DRIVER COULD HAVE PREVENTED A SERIOUS CRASH. *TR
LIGHT FOR SEAT BELT CAME ON AND THERE WAS A BEEPING SONG, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, SAID THAT WAS A SHORTAGE AND THE PRE-TENSIONERS SEAT BELT RETRACTOR HAD TO BE REPLACE, IF NOT REPLACE IF I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY. PAID 719.00 TO HAVE REPLACE. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY OCT. 22, 2014. SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN TOOK IT TO DEALER SAID THAT THIS TIME IT IS THE DRIVER SIDE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SPOKE WITH SOME OTHER LINCOLN OWNER OF 2006 LINCOLN, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH QUITE A FEW PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
MY PARENTS BOUGHT THE CAR AS A CERTIFIED / PRE-OWNED WHEN IT WAS 6 MONTHS OLD. WITHIN THE PAST SIX MONTHS THE TOWN CAR WILL SUDDENLY TRY TO ACCELERATE, (OR THE ENGINE WILL RUN UP TO THE REDLINE ON THE TACHOMETER.) IT WILL LITERALLY SPIN THE BACK TIRES WHILE BOTH THE DRIVERS FEET ARE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. WE ARE CONTACTING THE DEALER THIS WEEK. THIS IS GETTING MORE AND MORE OFTEN. *TR

THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES BUT IT FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THE PARTS WERE ORDERED. THE CONTACT WAS STILL AWAITING REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT DID EXPERIENCE A FAILURE.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHILE TURNING LEFT, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN PROCEEDED THROUGH TRAFFIC AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS TURNING RIGHT BUT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE DID NOT STOP AND PROCEEDED TO TRAVEL OVER A SIDE WALK. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING ANY FURTHER. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE BOTH INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE MANUFACTURER AS A TRADE-IN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000. UPDATED 4/4/14*CN *TR

OUT OF WARRANTY, AND VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT A COST OF $354 PARTS AND $305 LABOR. SEAT BELT/AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN JAN 8, 2015. ORIGINAL DEALER DIAGNOSED BAD SEAT BELT PRE TENSIONER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. PARTS ON ORDER AND TO BE REPAIRED FEB 26, 2015. PARTS COST $507 AND $305 LABOR. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ITEM THAT HAS A HISTORY WITH THIS VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL. COST TO CUSTOMER IS EXCESSIVE AND UNACCEPTABLE CONSIDERING THIS ITEM MUST BE REPAIRED TO INSURE A FUNCTIONAL SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE EXCESSIVE COSTS APPEARS TO BE DISCOURAGING SOME OWNERS FROM REPAIRING THIS SAFETY ITEM ACCORDING TO OTHER COMPLAINTS TO NHTSA. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT FULFILLED REASONABLE MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBILITY ON A SAFETY ITEM THAT COULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH AS A RESULT OF THE MALFUNCTION OF KNOWN DEFECT IN A REQUIRED PIECE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT. *TR
UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON....AND THE SEATBELT ALARM WOULD SOUND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. SO I TOOK THE CAR INTO ALLAN VIGIL FORD TO BE CHECKED. THEY TOLD ME MY SEAT BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH THEY SAID THEY HAD TO PULL THE DASH OUT TO GET TO THE PROPER PARTS. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR WAS $594.27......THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER 9, 2013...AT WHICH TIME I CARRIED IT BACK TO ALLAN VIGIL AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT WITH THE SAME ISSUE..... THEY REPAIRED IT AT THE COST OF $630.88......I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED BY FORD, AT NO COST TO ME...BECAUSE UPON MY FURTHER INTERNET SEARCHES FOUND THIS WAS AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON SEVERAL YEARS WITH THE SEATBELTS...OF THE 2006 LINCOLN TOWNCARS. MARCH 22, 2013, AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH. DEALERSHIP SERVICE MAN ADVISED ME THE LIGHT INDICATED THE AIRBAG MAY NOT INFLATE UPON CRASH. I WAS CHARGED $39.95 FOR MISCELLANEOUS REPAIR TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BUT A DIAGNOSTIC COST WOULD BE $89.95 AND REPLACEMENT COST WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $1600. DUE TO COST, NEITHER WAS THE DIAGNOSTIC NOR THE REPLACEMENT COMPLETED. TODAY, THE AIRBAG'S ALARM BEEPING AND THE AIRBAG'S DASH LIGHT CONTINUE TO OPERATE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, SHE HEARD A LOUD SCRATCHING SOUND. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD BECOME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FUEL TANK STRAPS HAD FAILED DUE TO CORROSION AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I WAS APPROACHING A STOPPED VEHICLE AT A STOP LIGHT AHEAD OF ME. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THERE WAS WHAT SEEMED LIKE A SURGE OF POWER AND I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WAS NOT GOING TO STOP. I BUMPED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME QUITE HARD BUT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE BUT THE DRIVER WAS QUITE UPSET AND I DO NOT BLAME THEM. ON THE SECOND OCCASION MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WHEN SHE WENT TO STOP AN INTERSECTION SHE SAID THE BRAKES DID NOT DO ANYTHING AND SHE FELT THAT THE ENGINE WAS GETTING GAS CAUSING IT TO ACCELERATE AND SHE WENT RIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. SHE SAID THAT IT WAS A GOOD THING THERE WERE NO VEHICLES COMING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION OR SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE THIRD INCIDENT HAPPENED LAST MONTH WHEN I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND I WAS PULLING UP TO THE CURB WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. AGAIN THERE WAS A SURGE OF POWER. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND REAPPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEN THEY ENGAGED BUT BY THEN I HAD JUMPED OVER THE CURB. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS INCIDENT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LINCOLN DEALERSHIP IN DADE CITY FLORIDA AND WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LINCOLN DEALERSHIP IN GREENVILLE MICHIGAN WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TODAY FOR A RECALL THAT I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING SYSTEM AND RUST. I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON BRAKE ISSUES AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AT THIS TIME. THIS IS OUR MICHIGAN CAR NOW AND WE ARE IN MICHIGAN FROM MAY TO NOVEMBER. SEAT BELT ALARM STARTED GOING OFF. FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY KNEW OF THE CONDITION. THE SEAT BELT IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAG/S WILL NOT ENGAGE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT THE FORD COMPANY HAS KNOWN ABOUT AND REFUSES TO FIX AT THEIR COST. IT IS ABOUT $1,000.00 AND I DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY.. THIS TO ME DOESN'T SEEM ANY DIFFERENT THEN GM KNOWING THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO DO A RECALL. ON THE PREVIOUS DAY I HAD REPLACED THE LEFT SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT BULB TWICE WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A SIMPLE FIX FOR A BURNT OUT BULB. TURNS OUT THE ORIGIONAL BULB WAS NOT BAD AT ALL. TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A LIGHTING MODULE ($659.25 PART) NOT REPAIRABLE, THAT HAD TO BE PROGRAMED ($239.63 FEE) BY DEALER BEFORE BEING REINSTALLED. THIS MODULE ALSO AFFECTED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WHICH I WAS TOLD WERE NOT WORKING. IF I HAD BEEN OUT ON THE ROAD WHEN THIS OCCURED INSTEAD OF MY LOCAL TRAFFIC AREA I THINK IT COULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE. I FEEL THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY SITUATION SINCE I NEVER KNEW MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING AND ALSO NOT BEING ABLE TO GET MY HEADLIGHT TO WORK. WHAT IF BOTH HEADLIGHTS HAD GONE OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED BECAUSE OF THIS MODULE. THIS SITUATION ALSO PUT ME AS CAR OWNER INTO THE POSITION OF NOT BEING ABLE TO FIX A SIMPLE HEADLIGHT PROBLEM AND TURNING IT INTO A MAJOR CAR REPAIR ($905.61 BILL). I FEEL THE USE OF MODULES TO CONTROL HEADLIGHT LIGHTING IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. IT SHOULD NOT COST NINE-HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX A HEADLIGHT PROBLEM.
