TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR MAT ONLY HAD ONE HOOK THAT KEPT THE FLOOR MAT SECURED TO THE CARPET. THE FLUORINATED WOULD FREQUENTLY BECOME CAUGHT UNDER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, WHICH THE CONTACT HAD TO CONTINUE TO RELEASE THE FLUORINATED WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THE VEHICLE COULD BE REPAIRED BUT AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,270.
2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. CONSUMER STATES UNINTENDED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE AND IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO DRIVER ERROR. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION HAPPENED FOR A SECOND TIME ON MAY 11, 2011. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO TURN THE KEY OFF AFTER SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES HAD NO EFFECT OF TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. UPDATED 3/28/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED IN EACH INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE FASTER, WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. EVEN WHEN THE CONSUMER PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. UPDATED 04/24/14
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH ,THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER REGARDING THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS BEING DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT STATED THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
REFERENCE COMPLAINTS 10327169, AND 10326349. LINCOLN 2007 TOWN CAR WHY ARE THESE REPORTS INCLUDED IN "INTERIOR SYSTEMS"? THEY ARE CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER BRAKES AND FUEL SYSTEM!! THIS MODEL HAS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE FUEL PEDAL CONNECTED TOGETHER IN A SYSTEM THAT CAN RAISE OR LOWER THEM TOGETHER...IT IS PROBABLY THIS SYSTEM THAT IS AT FAULT. IN ORDER TO PUT IN THIS FEATURE IT APPEARS THAT THEY MOVED THE GAS PEDAL CLOSER TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT IS POSSIBLE TO APPLY BOTH PEDALS TOGETHER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWNCAR. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD VIOLENTLY SHAKE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM MANUFACTURER NOR WAS THE VEHICLE INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR IN SEPT. OF 2009,28800 NOW WITH 33850 MILES. DURING THIS WINTER I REPORTED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY OF MY PROBLEM WITH THE CHROME PEELING FROM ALL 4 WHEELS..I WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT COVERED...AS THE TIME HAS GONE ON THE WHEELS HAVE DETERIORATED AND THE TIES DO NOT HOLD AIR..I BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND HAD TO PAY 180.00 TO FIX 2 WHEELS THAT WOULD GO FLAT AS I WAS DRIVING..THIS WAS DONE BY APPLYING SOME TYPE OF RUBBER CEMENT TO THE INSIDE OF THE WHEELS..NOW I FIND THE CORROSION IS SO BAD A 6" PIECE OF CHROME HAS PEELED OFF AND THE PLACE WHERE THE VALVE STEMS INSERT INTO THE WHEELS HAVE CORRODED BOTH INSIDE THE TIRE AND THE OUT SIDE..I WAS TOLD BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAT "THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM " HOW DOES THE ENVIRONMENT CAUSE THIS ON THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL. I FIND THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. IF II AM DRIVING AND THE TIRES LOSES AIR PRESSURE I WOULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND THE SERVICE WRITER WHO TOLD ME "WE BOTH WORKED AT A LINCOLN DEALERSHIP BEFORE AND YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE HOW MANY OF THOSE CAME BACK LIKE THAT,THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM BUT THEY STOPPED DOING IT" I LIVE IN MASSACHUSETTS AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE WHEELS HAVE TO BE DETAILED..HOW DO YOU DETAIL WHEELS IN 17 DEGREE WEATHER IN JANUARY. I NOW HAVE A CAR THAT I DO NOT TRUST DRIVING DUE TO THIS AND HAVE NOT BEEN HELPED IN THE LEAST BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. AND IF THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM WITH THE SALT ON THE ROADS WHY WAS I SOLD THIS CAR IN THIS AREA OF THE COUNTRY..GOD FORBID I ENTER A CONSTRUCTION SITE AND I LOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE..AS WE HAVE JUST HAD 6 SP OFFICERS HIT ON THE ROADWAYS AND MASS. NOW HAS THE MOVE OVER LAW ENACTED...I CANNOT CONTROL THE ENVIRONMENT AND THIS PRODUCT IS INFERIOR AND DEFECTIVE..THE 2010 TOWNCAR USES STEEL WHEELS WITH PLASTIC CHROME INSERTS INSTEAD OF THE ALUMINUM ALLY CHROME PLATED WHEELS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RUBBER ON THE IGNITION SWITCH BECAME WORN PREMATURELY AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE EXPOSED AND ALLOW DEBRIS TO PENETRATE THE STEERING WHEEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. ...UPDATED 02-28-14 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE HARDER PLASTIC SURROUNDING THE SOFT RUBBER AT THE BASE OF THE SHIFTING MECHANISM BEGAN TO COME OUT OF ITS SETTING. THE HARD PLASTIC AND RUBBER RUBBED TOGETHER. THIS HAS CAUSED A WHOLE IN THE SOFT RUBBER OF THE SHIFTING MECHANISM. UPDATED 3/18/2014*JS
2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. CONSUMER STATES UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO EASE THE VEHICLE 30 FEET FROM THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE GARAGE. WHEN HE PUT THE GEAR INTO DRIVE, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SCREECHED 5 FEET WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP UNTIL THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS 6 FEET INTO THE UTILITY ROOM. THE FLOOR MAT WAS FASTENED DOWN AND THE VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE ADJUSTABLE PEDALS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 45 MPH DOWN A RAMP, HE ENGAGED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. HE CONTINUED TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES USING BOTH FEET TO AVOID A POTENTIAL CRASH. HE WAS ABLE TO BRING SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN AND DRIVE ONTO AN EMERGENCY LANE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED HIM BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE A MONITOR EQUIPPED WITH A KILL SWITCH WAS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE DID NOT PERSIST AND THE MONITOR WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD GETS CLOUDY IN THE MORNING AND EVENING. THE WINDSHIELD HAS A GLARE AND SMALL BUBBLES ON IT WHICH MADE IT HARD TO SEE WHERE HE WAS DRIVING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ABNORMALLY AT RANDOM INTERVALS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY DRIVER ERROR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH IN REVERSE, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING CRASHING INTO A FENCE. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED . THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR SIGNATURE. ON THREE TO FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE MADE A STRANGE NOISE, BUCKED FORWARD, AND THEN ACCELERATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT WHEN THE COILS MISFIRE, THE VEHICLE FEELS AS IF IT WILL ACCELERATE. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID ACCELERATE AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE COILS. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE IN THE SAME DAY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO FAILURES. SHE WAS INFORMED BY A REPRESENTATIVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THEM WHILE THE FAILURE WAS OCCURRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO OTHER 2007 LINCOLN CONTINENTALS SHE OWNED HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,978 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,000.
ON THE VENTURA FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON NOV 6,2008. DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR, TRAFFIC MADE IT NECESSARY TO STOP. THE CAR, AS IT HAS DONE BEFORE, HAD UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THIS WAS ABOUT THE FIFTH OR SIXTH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED IN ONE YEAR OF MY OWNING THE CAR. THE OTHER TIMES IT HAPPENED, I HAD BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED TRANSMISSION PARTS THE FIRST TIME BUT THEREAFTER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM IN FACT THEY HAD GIVEN ME A TYPE OF COMPUTER TO ATTACH WHILE I WAS DRIVING SO THAT IF IT DID HAPPEN IT WOULD RECORD SOME FACTS THAT WOULD HELP THEM DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THIS COMPUTER STAYED ON FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO BUT IT DID NOT HAPPEN AT THAT TIME. THE WEEK BEFORE NOV 6, 2008, THE COMPUTER, WAS AGAIN PUT ON MY CAR. SO NOW I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKE IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH THE CAR SURGING AHEAD WITH UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND THE SAME UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED TERRIBLE DESTRUCTION OF LIFE AND OR PROPERTY HAD TO BE CONSTRAINED BY ME STANDING ON THE BRAKE AND PRESSING A BUTTON ON THE COMPUTER TO REGISTER THE EFFECT. THIS TOWN CAR IS EXTRAORDINARILY DANGEROUS, I HAVE HAD IT BACK MANY TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, AND I DO BELIEVE IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN, AS TO THE PAIN AND SUFFERING IT MAY VERY WELL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IF IT CANNOT BE STOPPED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKES WERE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THEY WERE TOO CLOSE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED; HOWEVER, HE DIDN'T NOTIFY THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE 2007 TOWNCAR ON 6/24/08, WITH 14,500 MILES. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN MY SHOE IS HALF ON THE BRAKE AND THE PEDAL WILL GO DOWN TO WHERE THE GAS PEDAL IS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 OR 7 TIME ALREADY, THE HARDER YOU PRESS THE BRAKE THE FASTER YOU GO. WHY DOES THE BRAKE PEDAL GO DOWN THIS FAR? MY WIFE GETS ALL SHOOK UP WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND THE CAR STOPS ON A DIME WITH THE MOTOR RACING THIS LOOKS LIKE A DESIGN PROBLEM, WHY WOULD YOU RAISE THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME, IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU COULD RAISE OR LOWER THEM ONE AT A TIME. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 50 YEARS OR MORE AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. THE LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS 8/28/08. *TR
COMPLAINT WAS THAT THE A/C FAN FLUCTUATES SPEED UNDER AUTOMATIC CONTROLS, ON 9/12/08 FORD ZONE REP DEEMED THAT THE SYSTEM WAS OPERATING WITHIN NORMAL CHARACTERISTICS. THE DEALER ADMITS TO ME THAT THEY HAVE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM & THAT FORD HAS NOT COME UP W/A FIX. I HAVE A RECORD OF MY CONCERNS DIRECT TO FORD & THEY ADVISED ME THAT IF THEY FOUND A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM THEY WOULD DO A RECALL. *TR
OVER THE YEAR AND HALF WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR, THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED AND BRINGING THE CAR TO A STOP IS VERY DIFFICULT. AFTER A LENGTHY BATTLE WE THE DEALERSHIP AND ALSO FORD, THEY STAND BY THE FACT THAT NOTHING IS WRONG. TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL ONE TIME, NEXT TIME DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG,HOWEVER IT HAPPENED TWO DAYS LATER AND I WILL BRING IT BACK TO DEALER FOR THE THIRD TIME ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. WHOEVER EXPERIENCES THIS DIFFICULTY DON'T ACCEPT ANYONE TELLING YOU THE ACCELERATOR WAS BEING PUSHED OR THE CARPET WAS STICKING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN TRYING TO APPLY THE BRAKES IN HIS VEHICLE THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES DOWN TOO FAR AND HITS THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD. THE CONTACT BROUGHT THE CAR INTO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER HOWEVER A TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 11,350. WHEN KEY IS INSERTED IN IGNITION, THE SEAT SLAMS FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEN REVERSES SLAMMING TO EXTREME BACK POSITION AND THEN REVERSES REPEATING ACTION. AT SAME TIME THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL EXTENDS UPWARD AND DOWN. THE FORWARD SEAT MOTION COULD CRUSH A CHEST AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL, AND THE BACKWARD MOTION COULD BREAK LEGS OF A PERSON SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT. IF THIS OCCURS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION, THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO CONTROL THE CAR, I.E. NO WAY TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, OR APPLY BRAKES. THE CAR WAS IN THE DEALER REPEATEDLY FOR THE 1ST SEVERAL YEARS, AND NOW THE PROBLEM IS RECURRING. THE FAULTY SEAT MOVEMENT IS EXTREMELY FAST--NOT AT PUSH BUTTON SEAT ADJUSTMENT SPEED. *TR

LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, COULD NOT REGAIN CONTROL DUE TO ACTION OF CRUISE CONTROL. *TR
THE VEHICLE THE 2007 FORD F-650 WAS TOWING CAUGHT FIRE. WHEN THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER TOWARD THE SHOULDER THE CAR BEING TOWED BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. *KB 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE AND WAS DESTROYED. THE POLICE OFFICER SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS BEING TOWED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHILE HE WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. HE WAS FORCED TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL AS HARD AS POSSIBLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE STOPPING DISTANCE EQUALED THE LENGTH OF TWO VEHICLES. ONE WEEK LATER, WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AGAIN. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS POSSIBLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT MUST HAVE HAD HIS FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER NEXT WEEK. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THEY WERE TOO CLOSE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED; I NOTIFY THE DEALER, REEDMAN-TOLL, LANGHORNE, PA APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS CONDITION. MY HUSBAND, JULIUS HYMAN, THE PRIMARY DRIVER, HAS EXPERIENCED THIS UNATTENDED ACCELERATION APPROXIMATELY 6 TIMES AND FORTUNATELY HE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR ALLOWING THE BRAKE TO FUNCTION BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED.OR THE MANUFACTURER. . *TR
TL*THE CONTACT DROVE A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR, WHICH WAS A COMPANY VEHICLE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE TRAVELED FOUR FEET AND THEN ACCELERATED. HE ATTEMPTED TO STEER AND APPLY THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE ONLY ACCELERATED MORE. THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED AFTER STRIKING TWO POLES AND ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE OTHER VEHICLE THEN STRUCK THREE ADDITIONAL VEHICLES. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND WAS FACING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE THAT HE STRUCK. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND A CRUSHING SOUND WAS HEARD. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AND TWO OTHER VEHICLES WERE DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS NECK, RIGHT SHOULDER, LOWER BACK, BOTH WRISTS, LEFT HAND, RIGHT PELVIS, BOTH KNEES, AND RIGHT ANKLE. HE ALSO SUFFERED FROM DIZZY SPELLS, WAS ON MEDICATION, LOST 40 LBS., AND IS SEEING A PSYCHIATRIST. THE PASSENGER IN THE REAR SEAT SUSTAINED A BUMP TO HER HEAD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR PRESIDENTIAL. THE CONTACT STATED UNDER NORMALLY ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH TO 50 MPH IN THE SHOPPING CENTER. HE PRESSED THE BRAKES FIFTEEN TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, WHICH CAUSED A CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES AND IS NOW DISABLED DUE TO THE INCIDENT. TL* - THE CONTACTED CALLED REGARDING THE 2007 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL. THE DRIVER WAS ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN IT ACCELERATED FORWARD , STRIKING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THEM. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND BEING REPAIRED AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP NOT A FORD DEALER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HEY WILL HAVE AN INVESTIGATORS LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THEY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE EARLIER THAT DAY, BUT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL. THE CONTACT HAD A POLICE REPORT.*AK UPDATED 03/19/07. *JB
2007 LINCOLN TOWN CAR ACCELERATION. THE CONSUMERS WIFE WAS APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE REVVED EXTREMELY HIGH AS SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE BRAKE TO COME TO A NORMAL STOP. AS THE ENGINE WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO STOP, SHE QUICKLY PLACED THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL. AFTER SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL, THE BRAKES WERE SUFFICIENT WITH ONLY A FEW INCHES TO SPARE AVOIDING A SERIOUS COLLISION. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED RUNNING AT A HIGH RATE DURING THE WAIT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEMS. *JB UPDATED 04/12/11
