We are having a consistent issue with our son kicking the harness release button located by his feet in the car seat. On numerous occasions we have gone to retrieve him from the seat and the harness is completely loose by kicking and releasing the trigger. This is very VERY unsafe. We have been in contact with the manufacturer via email and they have not responded to our request to remedy the situation. They advised that he may have outgrown the car seat, however he is 8 lbs under the weight limit. Additionally, the warning label on the seat says that they have not outgrown the seat until their head reaches the top of the headrest. He has come nowhere close to reaching this size. Britax offered to exchange the seat. Car seat has been replaced with another brand.
My problem is with the keyless start system. The problem is that if I forget to push the start button to shut down the vehicle and open the door and leave the automobile and shut the door with the key in my possession the auto will keep running until it runs out of fuel. Wouldn't it make more sense for the vehicle to shut down after 3 minutes if the key is not present. As you know people have died from carbon monoxide poisoning by parking in their garage and forgetting to shut down the vehicle and the vehicle keeps running and filling their homes with carbon monoxide. This happened to a older couple in Sarasota Florida with a new car that they just purchased and were not familiar with the starting system. Just wanted to know just how many people have to die before something is done about this problem. I asked my Mazda dealer and they told me that the vehicle will run until out of fuel and basically said that I was stupid for being concerned.
Driving on the interstate. Driver plus 3 passengers,fair amount of luggage. Listening to a book on CD. Windows up, air-conditioning on. Driving 70 mph smooth road. No cars in immediate vicinity. Suddenly there is a loud bang which scared the crap out of me. Pulled off the roadway to see what had happened. Turned out the moon roof had exploded. Fortunately the inside cover was closed otherwise the occupants would have been shredded by a glass grenade.
Original belt tensioner was failing at 50k miles. An oem mazda belt tensioner was installed and is failing again within 1 year at 67k miles. If this fails the belt powering the water pump will fail causing a catastrophic engine failure due to overheating. Mazda has yet to issue a recall with their defective parts. If you hear any squeaking of the belts from your engine and notice any residue leaking from the tensioner get it replaced ASAP or your car could become a hazard.
The component that failed was the CMU unit in my screen. I was unable to use Bluetooth and hands free driving which put my safety at risk and when driving at night the screen would light up, reboot, shut down, light up which was very distracting. I took it to the dealership which they said this is happening in cars and they will not cover it. They fixed it at a cost of $864.34. I contacted Mazda and explained how distracting this is to drive and they explained there is nothing they could do but give me a $250.00 credit.
The contact owns a 2016 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated while reversing the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal loud clanking sound coming from underneath the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was diagnosed with the bolt torque needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16V203000 (Steering). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
2016 MAZDA CX-5. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS FAILURE SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL BUT, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED RECALL 4320A NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 20V-063. THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The infotainment system goes into a reboot loop and never starts. At times the backup camera will turn off when backing up. At other times the backup camera will not turn off and will be on while driving forward. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When the backup camera turns off while utilizing it there is the possibility for an incident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - Yes, the dealer confirmed the reboot loop. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - Only the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No, they appears a few years ago. I believe the main CPU got corrupted by an HD radio channel.
As I was driving to work, the moonroof window exploded causing glass to fly every where. Thankfully, I had my sunshade closed so no glass came into the vehicle. Had it been open, I would have been hit by glass shards. There had been no damage to the moonroof window previously, no cracks or issues that I was aware of. While attempting to get it repaired, I was told that this had happened on the same type of vehicle one other time that the shop was aware of. I am currently waiting to hear back from Mazda regarding replacement/repair for the moonroof.
Dealer identified drive belt tensioner as leaking and in need of replacement on a Mazda CX-5 with less than 30k miles on it. Many owners have reported identical failures at or around 30k. An insufficient part that is failing so frequently, this early on with low mileage is a significant safety issue.
2016 Mazda CX-5 Daytime Running Light may fail THE CONSUMER STATED THE LIGHTS FAILED. THEY WERE REPLACED BUT, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED SAFETY RECALL 4320A NHTSA 20V-063.
Ebrake engages on its own when starting up the vehicle. You are unable to turn the ebrake off without restarting the car. The repair shop stated it is a problem with the computer module. A quick search of the internet shows that this is a common issue with this year's make and model. Luckily, the ebrake has not engaged itself yet while driving the vehicle.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING
The contact owns a 2016 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, there was an abnormally loud chirping and squeaking noise coming from the driver’s side front wheel. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to be inspected however, the dealer could not duplicate or diagnose the cause for the failure. The contact was concerned that the failure was related to the suspension. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM CONTINUOUSLY REBOOTING / CMU GOES BAD. CANNOT REBOOT WITH REMOVING NAV CARD, ETC. THIS DISABLES BLUETOOTH, NAVIGATION, AFFECTS THE CAMERA. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS ONLINE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE ACROSS THE BOARD.
I buy this car 2 years ago and 3 months later is starting having problem with rear passenger brakes I took the car to the mechanic and he change disc and brakes pads. A couple months later is starting having the same problem in the same area but this time is was smell burn coming through the wheel I'm stop the car to check was is going on when I check the brakes it was very very hot. I take the car to the mechanic and he told me the EPB is bad he changed everything disc, brakes pads,caliper and EPB motor. He said try to don't used the EPB too much or I'm going to see you again with same problem ... So I'm stop to use the EPB for long time. One day I put my car in the carwash one guy hit the EPB when he's done with the car Im get inside I turn on the car and the brake warning light is starting flashing I say fu** not again and yes EPB get stock. This is make me crazy the EPB need to be fix from the dealer please make this common problem a recalls to getting fix for those people got the same issue.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS SHORT IN THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE THE MECHANIC WAS WORKING ON VEHICLE, THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. INVALID VIN.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY HUSBAND AND OUR SUNROOF GLASS SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. WE JUST HEARD A REALLY LOUD BANG AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN, WE COULD HEAR THE WIND BLOWING AND OUR SUNROOF COVER WAS BEING FORCED OPEN. WE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND FOUND OUR SUNROOF BROKEN TO PIECES. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY/CLOUDY AND IN THE 60S. THERE WAS NO BRIDGE OR OVERHEAD PASS, NO BIG TRUCKS DRIVING NEARBY US. THE ENVIRONMENT OUTSIDE WAS FLAT, DRY LANDS.
I WAS DRIVING AND WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN SO I PRESSED BRAKE TO COME TO A STOP. WHILE I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE, THE CAR SUDDENLY REVVED UP AND LURCHED FORWARD. I HAD TO SWITCH THE CAR TO NEUTRAL GEAR TO STOP AND THEN BACK UP OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
MAZDA IS NOT FIXING A KNOWN ISSUE FROM A RECALL ISSUED A YEAR AGO FOR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. FEB 06,2020 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER4320A NHTSA RECALL NUMBER20V-063 ONE OF MY DRLS HAS BEEN BURNED OUT FOR OVER A YEAR. MAZDA SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR. FURTHERMORE, THE DEALER WILL NOT PROMISE TO PRIORITIZE FIXING ISSUES ON CARS WHERE THE LIGHTS ALREADY BROKEN, WHEN THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE, WHICH MEANS OWNERS WITH WORKING LIGHTS MAY GET THEIR RECALL REPAIR BEFORE I DO, WHICH IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT CAN I DO??
VEHICLE HAS ONLY 29,370 MILES DRIVEN. THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE LINING HAS UNDUE WEAR AT 3 MM. THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LINING MEASURES 5-6 MM. DURING ROUTINE SERVICING THE MAZDA TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED ABNORMAL BRAKE WEAR. MAZDA DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDS REPLACEMENT OF BOTH REAR CALIPERS. MAZDA CORPORATION IS UNWILLING TO HELP. IT APPEARS MAXDA CX-5 IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR EPB AND IS UNWILLING TO ADMIT IT.
VEHICLE MAKING FRONT END NOISE. MAZDA OCALA CHARGED $100 TO DIAGNOSE, TIGHTEN PARTS, QUOTED $845 FOR ADDITIONAL WORK RECOMMENDED BY A SERVICE NOTICE. SIMILAR TO RECALL 16V-203. MAZDA 800-222-5500 STATES VIN NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL, VEHICLE OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY, SUGGESTS TAKING IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC.
THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE ON MY 2016 MAZDA CX-5 STARTED ACTING STRANGE A FEW WEEKS AGO. AT FIRST IT WOULD NOT DISENGAGE AFTER STARTING THE CAR, BUT WOULD DO SO AFTER A COUPLE OF RESTARTS. THEN IT STARTED ENGAGING SLIGHTLY WHILE DRIVING, WITH NO INDICATIONS. STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE A FEW TIMES WOULD USUALLY RELEASE IT. A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO THIS HAPPENED AND THE BRAKE WOULD NOT DISENGAGE AFTER SEVERAL RESTARTS AND I WAS GOING TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. IT DISENGAGED AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES. AS I UNDERSTAND IT MAZDA KNOWS THAT THE REAR CALIPER IS DEFECTIVE (SEE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN R052/16C). THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM BECAUSE THIS IS NOT SAFE.
NEARLY A YEAR AFTER THE INITIAL RECALL NOTICE, MAZDA HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO SUPPLY THE PARTS TO FIX RECALL #20V-063. THEY SEND POSTCARDS AND EMAILS MONTHLY, INDICATING THAT I HAVE NOT YET BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. THIS IS UNTRUE, I HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO HAVE THE DEFECT CORRECTED ONLY TO BE TOLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. ARE THEY COMPLYING WITH THEIR OBLIGATIONS UNDER THIS RECALL? I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK THEY ARE NOT BEING TRUTHFUL ABOUT THEIR FAILURE TO PROVIDE THE REQUIRED PARTS.
WITHIN THE LAST MONTH THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE SELF ENGAGED 3 TIMES WHEN I STARTED MY CAR I NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHT ON. I NEVER ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE WHEN PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO DISENGAGE IT TWICE, BUT THE LAST TIME IT WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I FOLLOWED ALL THE STEPS LISTED IN THE CAR MANUAL, BUT NOTHING WORKED. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE ON TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON INSPECTION THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONFIRMED IT WAS AN INTERNAL ELECTRONIC FAILURE.
REAR BRAKES ARE DRAGGING CAUSING HEATING AND UNEVEN WEAR OF THE ROTORS AND PADS. AT 31000 THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE COMPLETELY WORN AND ROTOR SHOW HEAT DAMAGE.
DURING A ROUTINE INSPECTION BY THE DEALER FOLLOWING AN OIL CHANGE THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVE BELT TENSIONER HAD BEGUN TO LEAK AND IF NOT REPLACED (AT $400) WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL AND WILL STRAND MOTORIST. CURRENT MILEAGE 53, 824. WITH LITTLE EFFORT I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE WITH MANY FAILING AT AROUND THE 30K MILE MARK. LOOKS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW THAT MAZDA USA IS PASSING ONTO THE CONSUMER.
HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE. VEHICLE MILEAGE 30,020. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. REPLACEMENT COST 920.60.

FITZGERALD MAZDA FREDERICK (114 BAUGHMANS LN, FREDERICK, MD 21702, (301) 696-9200) WAS CONTACTED AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. RECENTLY, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED TO OPERATE AS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,250. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE FOLLOWING WARNING AND WARNING LIGHTS BEGAN AROUND 34,980 MILES ON MY 2016.5 MAZDA CX-5 GRAND TOURING 2.5L SKYACTIV-G WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE: MASTER WARNING LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, POWER STEERING, KEYLESS SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, SMART CITY BRAKE SUPPORT MALFUNCTION, FORWARD SCBS DISABLED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TCS/DSC INDICATOR LIGHT, TCS OFF INDICATOR LIGHT, BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) OFF INDICATION, BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, ABS WARNING LIGHT, ELECTRIC BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, AIR BAG/FRONT SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, LED HEADLIGHT WARNING LIGHT, AND THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO TURN OFF. USING THE LEFT BLINKER WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLES POWER TO RESTART AND YES, WHILE DRIVING! THIS STARTED NOVEMBER 14, 2020 AND WHEN I NOTIFIED MAZDA, THEY DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED AND A COUPLE DAYS LATER THE LIGHT WERE NO LONGER THERE. THIS OCCURRED AGAIN DECEMBER 15, 2020 AND MARCH 5, 2021 WHEN I DECIDED MAZDA NEEDS TO RUN A DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE CLEARLY SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. MY DEALERSHIP INSISTED IT WAS MY BATTERY (BASICALLY THE ONLY WARNING LIGHT NOT ON) AND MY REAR BRAKE PADS. THEN WHEN THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE, THEY SAID CORROSION NEEDED TO BE CLEANED WHICH WAS NOT SHOWN IN THE VEHICLE INSPECTION VIDEO. ALSO, MY CAR WAS JUST SERVICED AT MY MAZDA DEALERSHIP JULY 2020 WITH 33,706 MILES. SEPTEMBER 2020 MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND I RETURNED TO A LARGE CRACK ON THE DRIVER SIDE. AROUND 25,000 THE TIRED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, NOW AT 36,666 MILES TIRE THREAD DEPTH IS IN THE YELLOW' MY VEHICLE ALIGNMENT HAS ZERO ISSUES AND MY MAZDA DEALERSHIP IS THE ONLY ONE WHO ROTATES THE TIRES (OR SUPPOSE TO).
I HAVE TRIED SINCE FEB 2020 TO GET MY #20V-063 HEADLIGHT REPLACEMENT PER THE RECALL ISSUED AND THE FITGERALD MAZDA IN ANNAPOLIS MD TOLD ME SINCE THEN THAT THEY COULDN'T GET THE PARTS FROM MAZDA. I TRIED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT AGAIN TO HAVE THIS FIXED ON 11/11/20 - AN APPOINTMENT THEY ACCEPTED ONLY TO BE TOLD ONCE I GOT THERE AFTER THE INSPECTION THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND CANNOT GET THE PARTS FROM MAZDA. I WAS ONE OF THE INITIAL CUSTOMERS TO REPORT THIS ISSUE AND RECEIVED A NEW HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE REPLACEMENT AND NOT SIX MONTHS LATER, THE OTHER SIDE WENT OUT. I UNDERSTAND COVID LIMITATIONS BUT MAZDA NEEDS TO PROVIDE THE PARTS TO COMPLY WITH THIS RECALL CORRECT?
THE DRIVER'S SEAT POWER ADJUST HAS BEEN SQUEALING EXTREMELY LOUDLY EACH TIME I ADJUST IT, AND BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND COULD BE A SIGN OF THE DRIVESHAFT/MOTOR FAILING.
WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 40 MPH ON A STATE ROAD, MY TPMS WARNING LIGHT WENT ON. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A SIMPLE TIRE PRESSURE ISSUE, BUT THEN I BEGAN TO SMELL BURNING. I STOPPED MY CAR AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM MY REAR RIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE) WHEEL. I PROMPTLY BROUGHT THE CAR TO A 3RD PARTY MECHANIC AND THEY INFORMED ME THE CALIPER REMAINED ENGAGED AND MY ROTORS WERE OVERHEATING. THEY TRIED CONTACTING MAZDA DEALERSHIPS AND 3RD PARTY SOURCES FOR EITHER NEW OR REBUILT CALIPER BUT THE PART WAS OUT OF STOCK AND ON BACKORDER WITH NO ESTIMATED DATE WHEN IT WOULD BE REPLENISHED. MY CAR IS STILL UNREPAIRED AND I CANNOT DRIVE IT AS THE EXCESSIVE HEATING OF THE ROTOR COULD DISABLE MY BRAKING ABILITY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH OTHER CX-5 MODELS.
WHILE GETTING OFF A FREEWAY EXIT SUDDENLY THERE WAS SOME NOISE IN THE ENGINE AREA FOLLOWED BY MAJOR RATTLING EVERY TIME THE CAR SLOWED DOWN OR SPED UP, MAKING IT UNDRIVABLE. THE PROFESSIONAL DIAGNOSTIC WAS THAT SOMETHING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION WAS BROKEN/COMING APART. THE CAR HAD ONLY AROUND 27000 MILES ON IT AND THIS HAPPENED WITHIN MONTHS OF DRIVE-TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRING.

THE CONTACT CALLED SHEEHY HAGERSTOWN (10310 AUTO PL, HAGERSTOWN, MD 21740, (301) 739-7700) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V063000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE INADVERTENTLY ENGAGED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT SUSPECTED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS STILL ENGAGED. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE REAR WHEELS. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ALSO NOTICED THE SAME FAILURE WITH THE PARKING BRAKE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN REPAIRED BY THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR THE PARKING BRAKE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,784.
WHEN THE CAR IS COLD AND PARKED THE TRANSMISSION WILL LURCH INTO DRIVE SOMETIMES AND EVERYTIME WHEN THE CAR IS COLD THE TRANSMISSION WILL GET STUCK IN THIRD OR FOURTH GEAR AND THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE UNTIL I FLOOR IT UNTIL THEN THE CAR WON'T SHIFT OUT OF GEAR FOR A FEW HUNDRED FEET AND CONTINUE TO BIG DOWN THE ENGINE, THEN AFTER THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL DOWNSHIFT AND THE CAR WILL START TO ACCELERATE. IF I MANUALLY SHIFT THE CAR INTO FIRST THE PROBLEM WON'T OCCURRE AS BADLY. THIS SOFAR ONLY HAPPENS ONCE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE ARE COLD. BUT EVEN IF I LET THE CAR SIT AND IDLE FOR A FEW MINUTES IT'LL STILL HAPPEN.
THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK ON MY FRONT WINDSHIELD THAT SPANNED FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN I WENT TO LOCATE THE POSSIBLE POINT OF THE CRACK I COULDN'T LOCATE ONE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AN WINDSHIELD REPAIR SHOP TO GET IT REPLACED AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A STRESS CRACK THAT IS PRETTY COMMON IN MAZDA CX-5'S.
AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE INTERSTATE, THE GLASS ON MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. THE WEATHER WAS ABOUT 70 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND THE CAR IS TYPICALLY GARAGED EXCEPT FOR WHEN I DRIVE IT. WE DID NOT KNOW AT FIRST WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND IT WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING AS THE SOUND WAS VERY LOUD. THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE TO THE SUNROOF--CRACKS, ETC. AND IT WAS A FACTORY-INSTALLED SUNROOF. AS YOU WILL SEE FROM THE PHOTOS, THE GLASS EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG HOUSING WAS VISIBLE FROM UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ROGER BEASLEY MAZDA SOUTH (4506 S IH 35 FRONTAGE RD, AUSTIN, TX 78745) WHERE THEY STATED THAT WAS A COMMON ISSUE; HOWEVER, HER AIR BAG FAILURE WAS MORE VISIBLE AND PROMINENT THAN OTHERS THEY HAD SEEN. THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE OUT OF POCKET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN THE SAME INFORMATION AS THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,589.
ACTIVE RECALL FOR DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS IS NOT ABLE TO BE FIXED DUE TO MAZDA CLAIMING THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH PARTS TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE. *JS THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG WAS FAILING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CONSUMER HAS THE VEHICLE IN GERMANY, BUT WAS INFORMED IT COULD ONLY BE REPAIRED IN THE UNITED STATES. *JS
VEHICLE AIRBAG ECU INOPERABLE AND FLASHES FAULT CODE, BUT SOURCE OF ISSUE CAN NOT BE FOUND. MECHANIC SPECULATES IT IS EITHER OCCUPANT SEAT SENSOR ISSUE OR COMPUTER SOFTWARE ISSUE.
PARKING BRAKE RANDOMLY COMES ON AND WON'T SHUT OFF. I STARTED MY CAR AND USUALLY THE PARKING BRAKE COMES ON BUT AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT SHUTS OFF. TODAY IT WILL NOT TURN OFF THE PARKING BRAKE. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL COMBINATIONS INVOLVING TO PUSH THE START BUTTON WITHOUT FOOT ON BRAKE AND RELEASE BRAKE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE BEFORE THE CAR FULLY TURN ON AND WHEN CAR IS PARTLY ON TO OFF. AFTER 41 MINUTES WAITING (AFTER SPENDING ALMOST 1 HOUR MESSING WITH IT) I TURNED ON THE CAR AND IT WORKS NOW. UNRELIABLE TRANSPORTATION!
WHEN THE UPPER PORTION OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS LEFT ALONE OVERNIGHT, IT SWITCHES POSITIONS BY THE NEXT MORNING (IE THE UPPER SEAT IS ALWAYS BACK FURTHER THAN WHERE IT WAS LEFT THE PRIOR EVENING - SO IT HAPPENS OVERNIGHT). THIS SEAT IS ELECTRIC, NOT MANUAL. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE VEHICLE IS SITTING AND NOT RUNNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES (OVER 20 TIMES).
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH 2020 REGARDING LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. I CONTACTED THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AND TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED JULY 13, 2020. AT THIS TIME, I WAS TOLD BY MAZDA THAT THE PART NECESSARY FOR THE REPAIR WAS ON BACKORDER, AND WOULD BE RECEIVED IN APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS. I CALLED TO FOLLOW UP ON THIS IN LATE AUGUST. I WAS TOLD BY THE MAZDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER WITH NO ETA ON ITS AVAILABILITY. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING, BUT I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE MY RECALL NOTICE STATED THAT I SHOULD REPORT IF "MAZDA DOES NOT REPAIR THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME." I LIVE IN THE STATE OF HAWAII AND VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION COMPLETED. DUE TO THE RECALL AND DEFECT OF MY HEADLIGHTS, MY VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO PASS THE SAFETY INSPECTION. MY SAFETY INSPECTION WAS DUE TO BE COMPLETED IN JUNE 2020. MY VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE STATE. I WILL BE UNABLE TO PASS THE SAFETY INSPECTION UNTIL MAZDA REPLACES AND REPAIRS THE RECALLED ITEM.
LED daytime running lights. 1 is sporadic/ flickering, and the other one is now out/ inoperable, soon the flickering one will go also. Making the vehicle harder to see by other drivers. Mazda has a recall # 4320A but my vin# is excluded? I have the same parts/ model #s as the recall! An extension of the recall, out to include my vin# would be appropriate.
PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION; DRAGGING OF REAR WHEELS ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING; SUDDEN SEIZING OF BRAKE WHILE PULLING OUT OF PARKING LOT. *TR
DRIVING THE VEHICLE CAUSES THE REAR BRAKES TO GET HOT. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN SEPTEMBER (AROUND 40,000 MILES), AND I TOOK MY CX-5 IN FOR SERVICE. THE TECHNICIANS DID NOT FIND ANYTHING OPERATING INCORRECTLY, LUBRICATED THE BRAKES, AND RETURNED MY VEHICLE. WHEN I GOT MY STATE SAFETY INSPECTION, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY REAR BRAKES WERE PASSABLE, BUT PRETTY CRUMMY LOOKING BECAUSE OF HEAT DAMAGE. BECAUSE WE WERE LOCKED DOWN (DUE TO CORONAVIRUS) I WAITED A BIT AND JUST RECENTLY HAD THEM REPLACED. NOW THAT MY REAR BRAKES HAVE NEW PADS AND ROTORS, THE REAR BRAKE ISSUE IS HAPPENING AGAIN, SPECIFICALLY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE THIS TIME. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE IN THE REAR AND THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AGAIN, AND THEY TOLD ME THE REAR BRAKES ARE OPERATING NORMALLY. HOWEVER, ON MY DRIVE HOME (18 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY), THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AGAIN, SO I KNEW THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. I CHECKED THE TEMPERATURE OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR BRAKE ROTOR, AND IT WAS OVER 400 DEGREES (THE OTHER ROTORS WERE AROUND 150, SEE PAGE 9 OF ATTACHED DOCUMENT). I CONTACTED MAZDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE THE DEALER CAN'T DETECT AN ISSUE, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. MAZDA HAS ISSUED TSBS RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE FOR MY VEHICLE, BUT I BELIEVE THEIR DIAGNOSTIC STEPS ARE NOT SUFFICIENT TO DETECT ALL CASES OF THE ISSUE. THEIR DIAGNOSTIC STEPS ARE ALL RELATED TO LOW-SPEED DRIVING, BUT MY ISSUE ONLY PRESENTS ITSELF AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD. *TR

THE VALVE STEM WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WORLD CAR MAZDA NORTH (12115 INTERSTATE 35 NORTH BLDG. 2, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78233) WHERE THE REPAIR WAS PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000 THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *LN*JB
