AT 38,000 MILES THE AC WENT OUT, WOULD NOT BLOW COLD AIR. HAD IT INVESTIGATED, AND TH SYSTEMS NEEDED A REFRESH. DYE WAS USED TO DETERMINE WHAT MAY BE LEAKING, NONE FOUND. HOWEVER A YEAR LATER SAME ISSUE- CONFIRMED THROUGH TSBS THAT MAZDA EVAPORATORS HAD POOR BRAZING AND COULD DEVELOP SLOW LEAKS. THAT IS THE CASE WITH THIS CAR, AND NOW THE COMPRESSOR HAS FAILED, LIKELY DUE TO LOW COOLANT LEVELS FROM THE LEAK. MAZDA NOT WILLING TO SUPPORT THIS ISSUE.
I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AND BEFORE I COULD PUT THE CAR IN PARK IT JUMPED THE CURB AND HIT A VACANT BUILDING. THEIR WERE DAMAGES TO THE GLASS WINDOWS AND THE FRAME OF THE BUILD IS WHAT STOPPED THE CAR.
FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW COMPLETELY SHATTERED WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. NO APPARENT ROCK OR DEBRIS HIT THE WINDOW BEFORE THE GLASS COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED. A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD AS THE GLASS SHATTERED FROM THE CENTER. UNSURE AS TO LONGEVITY / DURABILITY OF THE MAZDA OEM GLASS WINDOWS AS CAR MODEL IS RELATIVELY NEW. SO FAR HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THE OTHER WINDOWS OF THE CAR. THE TEMPERED GLASS, HOWEVER, DID SHATTER AS CORRECTLY DESIGNED, NO INJURIES.
TWICE IN 1 YEAR I'VE HAD SMALL STONES CAUSE A CRACK IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE FIRST CRACK WAS CAUGHT BEFORE IT SPREAD AND WAS REPAIRED. ANOTHER SMALL STONE MUST HAVE HIT MY WINDSHIELD. TODAY WHILE SHOPPING I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE, THAT WAS PARKED FACING A STOREFRONT, TO SEE A 14.5 INCH CRACK ACROSS THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CRACK OBSTRUCTS THE DRIVER'S LINE OF VISION. I CONSIDER TWO SMALL STONES CAUSING DAMAGE UNUSUAL. I'VE BEEN DRIVING OVER 45 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER DAD TO REPAIR OR REPLACE A WINDSHIELD.
I NOTICED RECENTLY IN TRAFFIC THAT ONLY ONE OF MY RUNNING LIGHTS WAS REFLECTING ON THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A LOT OF STORIES OF THIS LIGHT GOING OUT PREMATURELY, AND THE REPAIR IS COSTLY SINCE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY WARRANTLY EXPIRED LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AGO, BUT I AM GOING TO TRY TO GET MAZDA TO COVER IT. I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT IN THE HOPES THAT MAZDA WILL START COVERING THIS REPAIR FOR CARS EVEN OUT OF WARRANTY, AS THESE LEDS SHOULD NOT FAIL AT 3 YEARS OLD.
"TAKATA RECALL" ? IN MARCH 2018, I WAS TRAVELING WESTBOUND IN A MAZDA CX-5 ON AN EXPRESSWAY IN LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 9;45 PM AND THE EXPRESSWAY WAS FAIRLY EMPTY, ROADS WERE COMPLETELY CLEAR, NO RAIN, NO SNOW. OUT OF NOWHERE, A SPEEDING DRIVER SLAMMED INTO THE BACK OF MY MAZDA AT A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED. (SHE ADMITTED TO FOLLOWING ME TOO CLOSELY AND NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP IN TIME, SO MY CAR WAS HIT PRETTY HARD. ON POLICE REPORT, SHE WAS CITED FOR UNSAFE SPEED AMONG OTHER THINGS. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THE A POLICE OFFICER THAT SHE DID NOT HAVE A DRIVER'S LICENSE). MY CAR WAS THEN THRUST INTO THE DIVIDER (WHERE THE LEFT SIDE APPROXIMATE CORNER OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR HIT THE MEDIAN) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EXPRESSWAY AND SPUN QUITE A FEW TIMES. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYED. I HIT MY HEAD AT LEAST TWO TIMES AND I STARTING HAVING NECK AND BACK PAINS AMONG OTHER INJURIES. THOUGH THE CAR HAD EXTENSIVE EXTENSIVE DAMAGES (13K WAS THE LAST TIME I HEARD AND THE CAR IS STILL NOT WORKING FULLY PROPERLY) MY INSURANCE PROGRESSIVE FORCED ME TO TAKE THE CAR BACK WHILE THE OTHER INSURANCE COMPANY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE CAR WAS NOT TOTALED. I WAS GIVEN BACK THE CAR A LITTLE OVER TWO WHOLE MONTHS AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND I WAS TOLD THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IF GOD FORBID SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS (THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS BLINKING ALL THE TIME), THE HORN DOES NOT WORK, AND NOTHING ON THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS WORK ANYMORE. I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO BRING THIS TO MAZDA'S DEALERSHIP DIRECTLY FOR DIAGNOSTICS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY PEOPLE THAT THEY BELIEVE MY AIRBAGS MALFUNCTIONED INCLUDING MAXIMUM AUTO BODY IN BOHEMIA WHO FIXED THE CAR AND I AGREE CONSIDERING THE HARD HITS THE CAR TOOK AND MY INJURIES. I AM NOT SURE WHAT MY RIGHTS ARE IN THIS SITUATION BUT I FEEL THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. I NOW HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL JUNE 4TH TO GET IT TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP.
LIFTGATE PROBLEMS, SOMETIMES THE LIFTGATE WILL NOT OPEN NO MATTER HOW I TRY TO OPEN IT. OTHER TIMES IT OPENS AND JERKS UP OR SLAMS SHUT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. IT HAPPENS WHEN ITS RUNNING AND IT HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT RUNNING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST 3 YEARS. IT STARTED ABOUT 1 YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR AND CONTINUES TILL THIS DAY.
COASTING. DRIVING TO A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT OR STOPPING POINT AT A DECLINING SPEED FROM 30MPH TO 25/20/15MPH INTERVALS ARE WHERE THE 'TUGGING'/'STUTTER' HAPPENS. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS NORMAL OPERATION FOR THE CAR TO SHIFT INTO GEAR WHEN DECLINING IN SPEEDS. EVEN CORPORATE AGREED WITH THEM. THE ONLY THING THAT IS NOT NORMAL IS HOW COME AWD VARIATION DOESN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE? MY OLDER MAZDA 3 FROM 2009 I DROVE DIDN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE. TESTED A MAZDA 3 NEW 2018 AND THEY HAD THIS ISSUE. ALSO TESTED A SALES DEPARTMENT 2016 FWD CX 5, SIMILAR ISSUE. MY FRIEND WHO IS A PHYSOCLOGIST, HER CX 5 2016 HAS THE SAME TUGGING ISSUE. DEALERSHIP SAID IT COULD BE A TORQUE CONVERTER/TRANSMISSION/ OR COLD WEATHER WITHIN TH TRANSMISSION LINES. NO ERROR CODES WERE PRESENT WHEN THEY CHECKED. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE SEEMS VERY DEGRADING FOR THE NEWER MODELS. THE ABRUPT TUGGING COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO SOMEONE AHEAD OF ME OR THE JERKING COULD MAKE ME HIT THE GAS PEDAL EVEN HARDER. SPOKE TO: SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER 1-1225218842 SPOKE TO ROY FROM MAZDA CSDEPARTMENT 800.222.5500 SELECT PROMPT 2, THEN EXT. 1148. THE CS CALLED DEALERSHIP AND FOLLOWED DEALERSHIP GUIDANCE. IF THIS IS NEW FOR THE VECHICLE AS A STANDARD OF DRIVING, THEN THIS MUST MAKE IT VERY UNPLEASANT AND PREDICTABLE FOR FUTURE ACCIDENTS.
PURCHASED NEW, PASSENGER-SIDE HEADLIGHT LED LIGHTS FLICKERED AND THEN WENT OUT AFTER ~18 MONTHS. REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS LATER, DRIVER-SIDE HEADLIGHT LED LIGHTS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SHATTERED. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (JOHN HINE MAZDA, 1545 CAMINO DEL RIO SOUTH ST, SAN DIEGO, CA 92108) AND WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT NATURAL GROCERS. WHEN THE CAR WAS GOING 2-3 MPH INTO THE SPACE GETTING READY I THOUGHT TO STOP, THE ENGINE REVVED UP LIKE A JET ENGINE. THE CAR THEN JUMPED A CONCRETE SIDE WALK, HIT THE BRICK BUILDING, AND BROKE A GAS LINE. THE CAR THEN CAME TO REST BACK IN THE PARKING SPOT. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, MY FIRST REACTION WAS "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED". A MAN WALKING OUT OF A STORE HEARD THE HISS OF THE GAS LINE AND THEN CALLED 911. HE CAME TO THE CAR AND TOLD ME TO MOVE AWAY BECAUSE THE GAS LINE COULD BLOW UP. HE NOTICED THAT MY GLASSES WERE BACKWARDS ON THE BACK OF MY NECK AND ASKED IF I WAS HURT. SHORTLY A FIRETRUCK ARRIVED, TWO POLICE CARS, AND A STORE MANAGER. THE FIREMEN SHUT OFF THE GAS LINE. THE POLICEMAN INTERVIEWED ME AND OBSERVED THE SETTING. AFTER SOME TIME THE POLICEMAN SAID "THIS WAS NOT YOUR FAULT" AND "I AM NOT ISSUING A CITATION". SOMETHING CLEARLY WENT WRONG WITH THE CAR. HE ENCOURAGED ME TO TAKE PICTURES OF BOTH THE SIDEWALK AND THE CAR FOR MY RECORDS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHOM I HAD LEASED THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MAZDA CX-5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP BURNED OUT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TYRONE SQUARE MAZDA (3300 TYRONE BLVD N, ST. PETERSBURG, FL 33710, (727) 344-3344) WHERE HE PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE LIGHT REPAIRED. SOON AFTER, THE PASSENGER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP ALSO BURNED OUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND AGREED TO ASSIST THE CONTACT WITH FINANCING THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER TO HAVE THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AGAIN ABOUT THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR FOLDED IN BY ITSELF WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY MAZDA 2016 CX-5 ON A LOCAL CITY STREET AT ABOUT 15 MPH. THE PLASTIC OUTSIDE HOUSING OF THE MIRROR POPPED OUT AND FELL ONTO THE ROAD. I RETRIEVED THE TRIM PIECES OF THE HOUSING BUT ONE PIECE OF TRIM WAS CRACKED. I REINSERTED THE TRIM AND TAPED UP THE CRACKED PIECE. MAZDA SAYS IT DOES NOT SELL THE REPLACEMENT PIECE OF TRIM AND WANTS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE MIRROR FOR A COST OF $500.
THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. I AGREE WITH COMPLAINTS 1090985 AND 10885776 IN THAT IT SEEMS TO BE FINE 90% OF THE TIME, WHICH LULLS YOU INTO A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. NOW, I MAKE SURE THAT HE LIGHTS FLASH AS I WALK AWAY. I HAD TURNED OFF THE CHIRP BECAUSE IT DISTURBS THE PEACE, BUT MAY TURN IT BACK ON, SINCE WALKING AWAY AND LOOKING BACK ALSO HAS ITS RISKS. I COULD BE WALKING AWAY TOO QUICKLY SOMETIMES OR SOMETHING ELSE IN MY POCKET MAY BE SHIELDING THE KEY FOB, BUT IF OTHERS ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, MAYBE IT IS NOT A USER ISSUE. PERHAPS THE OWNER'S MANUAL SHOULD MENTION THESE POSSIBILITIES, IF THEY INDEED ARE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. AN UNLOCKED CAR IS A SERIOUS SECURITY RISK.
THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW ON 06/30/2015. IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT 20,690 MILES (09/02/16). AT ~43,000 MILES, LEAKS WERE DETECTED. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS POWERTRAIN ISSUES. THE LEAK WAS TRANSMISSION FLUID THAT SPREAD TO THE WHOLE LENGTH OF THE CAR UNDERNEATH. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT LATER CONFIRMED THE MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSIS. POWERTRAIN WILL BE FIXED AT THE MANUFACTURER'S EXPENSE (THE MANUFACTURER CONSIDERS IT A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND HAS HONORED THE WARRANTY).
I WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 45-50 MPH WHEN I HEARD LOUD POP, AND NOTICED SMALL CHIP THE SIZE OF A PENCIL LEAD IN THE TOP MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THEN ANOTHER LOUD POP AND THE CRACK APPEARED DOWN THE MIDDLE TOWARD PASSENGER SIDE FROM THE CHIP. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND THAT COULD'VE CAUSED THE DAMAGE (I.E. DEBRIS OR CONSTRUCTION TRUCKS, ETC) AND I WASN'T GOING FAST ENOUGH THAT COULD CAUSE THE CHIP AND CRACK THAT BIG. NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF EXPERIENCE WITH PRIOR CARS I'VE OWNED. YES, I MIGHT HAVE HAD CHIPS HERE AND THERE BUT NEVER CRACKED SO EASILY LIKE THE CURRENT ONE, ESPECIALLY AT THE SPEED I WAS TRAVELING.
OUR 2016 MAZDA CX-5 HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT AND THE REAR BRAKES HAVE COMPLETELY DETERIORATED. AFTER VISITING THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THE BRAKES HAVE RUSTED OUT DUE TO THE USE OF THE PARKING BREAK (WE NEED TO USE THE PARKING BREAK DUE TO WHERE WE PARK). MAZDA CLAIMS THIS IS A NORMAL 'WEAR-AND-YEAR' ISSUE BUT I DO NOT SEE HOW THIS IS AS THE VEHICLE HAS SUCH LOW MILEAGE. THE 2013-2015 CX-5S SUFFERED A SIMILAR ISSUE WHERE MAZDA WILL FIX AND REPLACE THE BRAKES. HOWEVER FOR US, THEY CLAIM THIS IS OUR FAULT ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD.
DEC 9, 2017 - TODAY WAS FIRST DAY OF SNOW AND FIRST DAY IN MY >2 YEARS OF DRIVING CX-5 THAT I EXPERIENCED LOSS IN BRAKING, WHICH SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. IT HAPPENED THRICE WITHIN SPAN OF 20 MINUTES. EACH TIME I STARTED THE CAR AND TRIED TO BRAKE FOR THE 1ST TIME, IT WOULDN'T STOP AND ROLLED OVER FOR ATLEAST 3-5 FEET EVEN WHEN I HAD THE BRAKES PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THANKFULLY IT WAS ON INTERNAL ROADS AND I WAS AT 15 MPH ANTICIPATING STOP SIGNS AT INTERSECTIONS. IT HASN'T HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE DURING LAST YEAR WINTER SEASON, SO NOT SURE WHAT IS CAUSING IT.
IN AUGUST 2016, I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2016 MAZDA CX-5 (DEALERSHIP: WELLESLEY MAZDA). UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR HAD ISSUES RELATED TO MY BRAKES. ON DECEMBER 08, 2017, THE BRAKES OF MY RIGHT REAR TIRE LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN A CITY STREET (35MPH ZONE) CAUSING THEM TO OVERHEAT TO THE POINT WHERE THE BRAKE DISC GOT RED HOT AND SMOKED UP, INCREASING THE RISK OF MY TIRES BLOWING OUT/CATCHING FIRE DUE TO THE HEAT GENERATED BY FRICTION. IN ADDITION TO THIS BEING A SAFETY RISK FOR MYSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROAD, THIS WAS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. MY CAR WAS IN NO CONDITION TO BE DRIVEN AND I WAS STRANDED ALONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS ISSUE OCCURED. I HAD A SIMILAR COMPLAINT IN AUGUST 2017 WHERE THE LEFT WHEEL LOCKED INVOLUNTARILY WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT I WAS ABLE TO NOTICE THE SMOKE BEFORE THINGS GOT WORSE AND THAT THIS DID NOT CAUSE A COLLISION. WELLESLEY MAZDA REPLACED THE CALIPERS, BRAKE DISC ETC. ONLY FOR THAT PARTICULAR TIRE, DESPITE MY REPEATED REQUESTS TO REPLACE THOSE FOR ALL THE TIRES OR FOR AT LEAST THAT AXLE. MY CAR HAS ONLY RUN ~8,000 MILES, I AM REGULAR WITH MY CAR'S MAINTENANCE AND MY LAST SERVICE WAS ON 12/04/2017. MAZDA IS TELLING ME NOW THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CALIPERS AND THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS. HOWEVER, I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE THIS ISSUE AND THE SAFETY BULLETIN. THIS COULD'VE BEEN DONE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS: A) WHEN THE ISSUE WITH THE LEFT BRAKE HAPPENED B) WHEN I REPORTED A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM MY CAR (IN SEPT OR OCT) C) WHEN I GOT MY CAR SERVICED. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DETECT THIS ISSUE AND AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION DID NOT REPLACE THE OTHER CALIPER, A DECISION THAT PROVED TO BE INCORRECT AND A RISK TO ME AND OTHERS. THERE ARE NO RECALLS EITHER.
LIFTGATE RECALL BY MAZDA IN OCTOBER 2016 WAS NEVER COMPLETED AS "PARTS NOT AVAILABLE", BUT THEIR WEB SITE SHOWS THIS VIN AS HAVING COMPLETED THE REPAIR, WHICH IS ERRONEOUS. THIS INDICATES THAT SOMEONE AT MAZDA CHANGED THE DATA TO SHOW IT AS COMPLETED WHEN IT WASN'T COMPLETED.
ON 07/28/2017, AIR BAG LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEGAN TO FLASH WHILE DRIVING ALSO THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS OCCUPIED. LASTED UNTIL VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. MAZDA DEALER FOUND CODE B00A0 FOR PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM. THEY RESET THE CODE AND TESTED AIR BAG SYSTEM, THEY STATED THAT ALL SYSTEMS PASS TEST. ON 10/16/2017, AIR BAG LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEGAN TO FLASH AND THE WARNING BEEPING START UP WHILE DRIVING ALSO THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT OCCUPIED. I CONSIDERED THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEED TO BE REPORTED. I RECORDED VIDEOS.
REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS SHOW SEVERE WEAR AT 14K MILES. ROTORS HAVE VISIBLE WEAR MARKS AND CORROSION. BRAKING FUNCTION IMPAIRED AND PEDAL MUST BE DEEPLY PRESSED TO ACHIEVE DECELERATION. DEALER SAID THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND REPLACED PADS. HOWEVER EVEN WITH NEW PADS, BRAKING IS STILL MUSHY. 2015 AND 2014 MODEL YEARS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM / TSB. APPEARS THAT MANUFACTURING DEFECT CONTINUED INTO 2016 MODEL YEAR.
FIRST OCCURRED ON 9/29/2017 AND MORE OFTEN AFTER 2/3/18 BATTERY DRAINS, NO START HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE BATTERY JUMPED 5-6 TIMES, REPLACED BATTERY SAME OCCURRENCES, HAVE TAKEN BATTERY TO BE CHARGED TWICE. AIRBAG LIGHT ON AND OFF, HAVE HAD IT SERVICED PREVIOUSLY. HEAT AND A/C NOT PROJECTING LIKE NORMAL. STAINS ON WINDSHIELD. DESIGN ERROR THERE IS NO KEY ENTRY ON TRUNK WHEN CAR MALFUNCTIONS. DASHBOARD AND/OR DISPLAY SCREEN WILL OCCASIONALLY STAY ON WHEN CAR TURNS OFF. DRIVER WINDOW RATTLES. COMMAND SWITCHES FOR DISPLAY SCREEN REPLACED STILL STICKING. SEAT BELT HAS SCARED STOMACH.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IS VERY DIM AND NEEDS REPLACING. WHEN REPLACEMENT COST APPROACH $1500, I GET VERY UPSET. THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN NOT UNDER WARRANTY. SHOULD BE A RECALL AS MANY OTHERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS BURN OUT AND MAZDA CHARGES $1,200 EACH TIME FOR AN ENTIRE HEADLIGHT LENS REPLACEMENT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME - FIRST TIME WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM REBOOTS NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER ENGINE IS STARTED AND CONTINUES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR. DURING REBOOT CYCLE, RADIO, NAVIGATION, AND OTHER FUNCTIONS OF THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ARE UNAVAILABLE. SYSTEM MAY REBOOT ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1 AND 10 TIMES BEFORE THE SYSTEM STABILIZES. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING, DAILY OCCURRENCE, CAN OCCUR MULTIPLE TIMES IN A DAY, AND BEGAN 2 MONTHS AFTER VEHICLE DELIVERY.

DAY RUNNING LIGHT ON PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT WORK
Parked by the curb at the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport. I put the car in Park and left the car idling with the air-conditioning running.as it was 95 degrees and about 100 at around 8:00 AM. There was a shuttle van parked by the curb about 11 feet in front of me. I had to exit my car to talk to the driver in the car behind me. I walked to the car behind me and started talking to the driver. I glanced back at my Mazda CX5 and it started rolling forward. I ran up to the car and got the door open and stepped on the brake. The brakes did not engage. I repeated stepping on the brake several times and the car would not stop. I got in the drivers seat to shift the car into reverse and keep my foot on the brake pedal. The car would not shift into reverse. and by this time the Mazda had pinned to the shuttle van a lady who was trying to unload her luggage. On the sixth attempt to shift into reverse the shifter finally moved into reverse and by standers came to the aid of the lady that had been pinned to the shuttle van. Airport security and the Broward County police took the statements. The lady retrieving her baggage declined medical attention. When I checked to see what the police were reporting they did not acknowledge that I was attempting to stop a runaway vehicle. The report said that I failed to put the car in park and left it in drive. It is not possible to get out of a car that is idling and in gear without the car moving forward or backward before you can even get all the way out of the car. This incident happened about mid July in 2017. Near the end of June this year while in my driveway I left the car idling and in park, exited the car walking to the rear of the car and it dropped into reverse. Got back in the car and shut off the engine. July 2017 the local Mazda dealer inspected the vehicle and could not find as problem. Not unlikely with an intermittent electrical anomaly. There were no prior warning lamps in either incident.
IN TRAFFIC WHEN THE CARS AHEAD SUDDENLY STOPPED. I APPLIED BREAKS HARD AND THEY KICKED BACK, RESISTING MY EFFORTS TO STOP. NARROWLY AVOIDED ACCIDENT BY SHIFTING INTO N AND HITTING THE BREAK AGAIN. I STOPPED A FEW INCHES FROM THE VEHICLE AHEAD !
WHILE DRIVING ON A SLOPE WITH BIT OF CURVE ON A HIGHWAY WHEN I APPLIED A MILD BRAKE TO REDUCE THE SPEED, THE CAR ABRUPTLY MOVED STRAIGHT LEFT AND GOES OFF ROAD. THE BRAKE AND STEERING DIDN'T RESPOND IMMEDIATELY FOR FEW SECONDS AND THE CAR KEEP GOING DOWN OFF ROAD ON A VERY ROUGH TERRAIN. LUCKILY IT STOPPED FEW METERS BEFORE A SHARP FALL.

WITH 6379 MILES DRIVEN MOSTLY ON HIGHWAY IS THIS A FAULTY PAD PRODUCT? HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN STOPPING. STARTED 06/17 AND STILL HAPPENING.

A STONE FROM A WEED-EATER HIT MY WINDSHIELD AS I WAS DRIVING (~25 MPH) AND WITHIN 5 MILES THE CRACK WAS ALREADY 18 INCHES. IN SEARCHING ONLINE I NOTICED A LOT OF OWNERS MENTIONED WINDSHIELD PROBLEMS AND HOW THIN THE WINDSHIELD IS. I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED A SLIGHT CHIP BUT NOT THE CRACK. THE TEMPERATURE WAS MID 70'S.
THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE LOCKS THE REAR WHEELS AS DESIGNED. THE TOGGLE SWITCH THAT ACTIVATES THE BRAKES HAS DIRECT CONTROL THAT DOES NOT GO THROUGH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM OR THE ON BOARD COMPUTER. ONCE THE PARKING BRAKE IS ACTIVATED, AT ANY SPEED, THERE IS A TWO STEP PROCESS REQUIRED TO RELEASE THE BRAKES AND ALLOW THE REAR WHEELS TO ROTATE. IN MY CASE, THE ACCIDENTAL ACTIVATION OF THE BRAKE SWITCH AT LESS THAN 10 MPH LOCKED UP THE REAR BRAKES AND THE CAR CAME TO A VERY ABRUPT SCREECHING HALT. IF I WERE GOING FASTER WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THE BRAKE LOCK UP COULD HAVE LED TO A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
THERE WAS A RECALL ORDERED OCTOBER 6, 2016 FOR FAULTY LIFT GATE STAY DAMPERS (SAFETY RECALL 9916H, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NO. 16V-644). IT HAS BEEN 8 MONTHS AND THERE STILL IS NO FIX/SOLUTION AVAILABLE. WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG TO ISSUE A FIX FOR A RECALL? THERE ARE OTHER RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE AND I AM WAITING FOR A FIX FOR THIS ONE SO I CAN GET ALL THE RECALLS ADDRESSED AT ONE TIME.

2 INCIDENTS OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO PARKING SPACES FIRST ON 5/18/17 AND SECOND ON 12/15/17. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED THE FIRST TIME BUT NOT THE SECOND TIME. THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS ORDERING AN ENGINEER INVESTIGATE SINCE IT OCCURRED ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS
2 WEEKS OLD VEHICLE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AFTER PARKED IN THE SUN FOR 3 HOURS.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS POWERED OFF, THE BACK REST OF THE DRIVER'S CHAIR WILL FALL BACK COMPLETELY TAKING 2-10 SECONDS TO HIT THE REAR SEATING. AFTER TURNING ON THE VEHICLE, I WILL HAVE TO READJUST THE CHAIR TAKING ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES TO ADJUST THE BACK REST INTO AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AND SPORADICALLY, HAPPENED ONCE WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED ABOUT 15-20 MPH. ALSO, HEAD REST TO TOO FAR FORWARD MAKING IT UNCOMFORTABLE. COMPANY SHOULD LOOK INTO ELECTRICALLY MOTORIZED HEAD REST FOR ANGLE AND ELEVATION.
I WAS MAILED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE INVOLVING THE LEFT GATE STAY DAMPER CONCERN WHICH POSES A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN CALLING TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR, MAZDA DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE REPAIR AND HAS NO TIMELINE AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE RECEIVED. MAZDA STATED "THIS RECALL DOES NOT POSE A SAFETY CONCERN." IT CLEARLY STATES IN THE RECALL THAT THE LIFT GATE CAN DROP SUDDENLY AND THE BROKEN PARTS MAY INJURE PEOPLE NEAR THE VEHICLE.
THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE TURN SIGNAL. FIRST AND FOREMOST, ON VEHICLES THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH LED HEADLIGHTS AND LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS, IT IS VERY HARD TO DISTINGUISH THE TURN INDICATOR SINCE IT IS AN INCANDESCENT BULB, IT IS NOT AS BRIGHT AS THE LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS THAT WHEN THEY ARE ILLUMINATED AND LOOKING STRAIGHT AT THE VEHICLE, IT IS HARD TO TELL IF THE TURN SIGNAL IS ACTIVATED. THIS COULD BE FIXED BY EXTINGUISHING THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT TEMPORARILY WHILE THE TURN SIGNAL ON THE SIDE WHICH THE INDICATOR IS ACTIVATED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT MARKER BULB IS HARD TO DISTINGUISH FROM THE SIDE, IT SHOULD BE A SEPARATE BULB ON THE ASSEMBLY. THE REAR MARKER LIGHT IS MUCH MORE PRONOUNCED AND VISIBLE NOT ONLY BECAUSE IT IS AN LED BULB, BUT BECAUSE IT IS A SEPARATE FIXTURE FROM THE TURN SIGNAL AMBER COMBINATION LAMP.
AFTER TWO MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO A ROCK STRIKE. THE WINDOWS WAS REPLACED WITH AN OEM WINDSHIELD. THREE MONTHS LATER THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED RANDOMLY WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE (ROCK ETC)
SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THIS HAPPENED ON 4/30 AT AROUND 10:30AM, 280 SOUTHBOUND ABOUT 1/2 MILE BEFORE THE MILLBRAE EXIT. SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD BOMB NOISE THEN FOUND OUT MY SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED INTO MANY PIECES. I HAD THE SHADE OPENED ABOUT 2 INCHES, SOME OF THE GLASS PIECES GOT BLOWN INTO THE CABIN. ONE PIECE OF THE GLASS PIERCE INTO THE ARMREST. THERE WERE NO OVERPASS, OR LARGE TRUCK AROUND MY CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I COULD BE 100% SURE IT WASN'T HIT BY ANY EXTERNAL OBJECT. MY WIFE, MY 10MONTH OLD SON AND I WERE IN THE CAR. IF THE SHADE WAS FULLY OPENED, THE SHATTERED GLASS PIECES WOULD HAVE GOT INTO OUR FACE AND EYES. OR EVEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILL MY 10 MONTHS OLD SON. I HAVE FOUND ONLINE THERE ARE MANY CASES OF SUNROOF EXPLODING. PLEASE NHTSA, YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE MASS AND PUT PRESSURE ON THE MANUFACTURERS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.
