The vehicle sometimes doesn't start. Usually it needs to sit about 30 minutes after being turned off before it starts again, but there is no guarantee that it will start again after that. I had this taken to the Mazda dealer twice to be repaired; neither time have the repairs worked. More recently, the car still refused to start after two and a half hours of being turned off in the parking lot. I turned off the Air Conditioning system and this allowed the car to start on this occasion. However, the car was still struggling to stay on when I was stopped at red lights on my trip driving the car home. This car's problem is worsening. I keep trying to get the Mazda dealer to fix the recall, but they have not returned my calls. Can you please ask them to fix my car or buy it back from me?Thank you.
Fuel pump. The mechanics at the Mazda dealership brushed me off when I brought up the open recall on my vehicle. However, according to them it is a "preliminary recall," the mechanic said it wasn't an "open recall." This is my first vehicle and I stupidly put my trust into the mechanic and believed his words. I am not well-versed in vehicles but after extensive research, asking a friend, and referring to a VPC agent who deals with recalls on vehicles; it turns out there is no such thing as a preliminary recall outside of Mazda's definition. I told the mechanic it was an open recall and that I need to ship the vehicle to Hawaii and the shipping company can refuse service if there is an open recall. The mechanic still brushed me off and talked to me as if I was dumb because I couldn't understand what he was saying. He continued to say they don't have the parts regardless and said "no one does." I didn't press the issue because I assumed they knew better than I. It seems as if Mazda is refusing to work on, look at, or even hear about the fuel pump recall.
oil leak from a cracked cylinder head, common issue seen
Module in the the car Sofi and radio stop working at times Car slow acceleration from stop to move
My wife was pulling into a parking place today with her foot on the brake when the car suddenly accelerated, causing it to jump a curb and come to a stop over two large shrubs, which saved her from entering a busy highway and colliding with another car. This caused damage to the front end of the car and wheel wells. She told me she absolutely did not have her foot on the accelerator at the time. The cruse control was off and the driver's side floor mat was not out of position. She was not injured and the air bags did not go off. We have not yet taken this vehicle in for inspection of this defect. It is in the repair shop right now for body work. Our insurance company has been notified. My wife did not report any warning lights. The vehicle is available for inspection. Prior to this episode, I have noticed that at low speeds, the car tends to "surge" with slight pressure on the accelerator but we did not report that to the dealer.
The contact owns a 2018 Mazda CX-5. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V875000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated while driving approximately 10-15 MPH, the vehicle started hesitating. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that though the remedy parts were not yet available, they would put her name on the waiting list. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
2018 Mazda CX5 with 62000 has an oil leak coming from what the Mazda dealership in Barre VT say it is the cylinder head and gasket have gone faulty for a repair price of $4,191 and that this is a known issue. I had no lights letting me know of an oil leak, the only way I knew it was leaking was because I smelled burnt oil and then looked under the car to see the drops from the leak. My complaint is if Mazda Corporation knows its a known issue and know it can cause a fire why does it not issue a recall. An engine should not be having faulty cylinder and gaskets at only 62,000 miles.
2018 MAZDA CX-5. CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING FUEL PUMP RECALL ON VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FINDING A REMEDY FOR THE FUEL PUMP RECALL.
Follow up! I originally posted I thought this was an engine issue. However, after reading about the huge recall with Mazda due to a faulty Denso fuel pump I quickly realized this is 100% issue. This causes my car to stall on the highway and stop accelerating at 65mph. Huge safety issue! Many other car dealers have been hit with too. However, my VIN is not part of the recall. There are claims on court docs there are more vehicles part of this recall than what Mazda is owning up to. I find it hard to believe I am the only one. Mazda pony up and do the right thing for your consumers.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer again where it was diagnosed that there were loose parts in the engine. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. Additionally, the brake light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the switch and mat were causing the failure. Certified Mazda cx5 sold with faulty wheel bearing and had to be back in service less than 24 hours from purchase. They failed to replace the piece of engine after 35.000 maintenance and another dealer found 5 areas that needed work 3 weeks later. Brake warning system went off took5 days to determine it was a dead switch and replaced exactly one month later Brake system warning goes off after car was In park and off for 25 minutes at the airport. I was told that I was fine to drive it despite the manual clearly saying do not drive if Brake warning lights go on. And it was supposed to have been repaired. The dealership expected me to believe that a rubber mat set off the high tech Brake system this is ridiculous They bought back car did not return the 5000 down payment or 14000 trade in and refused to honor the store warranty of buy back for life KBB 125 of trade in value. They refused to do anything to cancel warranty but then [XXX] canceled all 3 and had no authority or permission by me to illegally cancel my warranty and refuse to provide the documentation that the warranty company insist the dealer has to provide. The parking break is getting stuck and we are unable to release it. We have gone to various mazda showrooms and service centers but no one have been able to find the issue. We are scared that on the highways the car can malfunction. The parking break warning sign comes on on its own even when the vehicle is moving which is a big concern for us while driving. When I searched for this issue online, I can see few articles where different models of Mazda has same issue and they recalled those vehicles. Mazda service center people after charging me for the issue, suggested not to use parking brake, even I don’t use that it gets on by itself. There is a warning symbol. It is available for inspection when requested. Electronic Parking Brake Component is not working. Multiple mazda showroom people confirmed this and none of them can fix this.
UNKNOWN My vehicle stalls while I’m driving. My RPM tends to stay at one number when this happens. I was nearly struck by a vehicle while trying to merge onto the highway. This is very dangerous. There’s also I light that comes on my dashboard that seems to be indicating an accident or something of that sort.
Infotainment system/radio: Radio stations start changing by itself while loudly beeping constantly while I drive. I lose total control of the infotainment system. It becomes possessed. The infotainment system automatically starts moving to different screens and tries to delete stations. Very unsafe. I've seen reports of this happening on other Mazda vehicles and other models were recalled for it. Considered a "ghost touch." This was an actual recall on another Mazda model. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10164268-0001.pdf The problem is wider than that: Complaints from other Mazda owners: https://www.reddit.com/r/CX5/comments/mu0682/advice_on_2018_cx5_touring_multimedia_display/ https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-60333765
Brakes failed when at complete stop car lurched forward about 2 car lengths
Car has 38000 miles and the caliber needed replaced yesterday. Brakes started grinding a day before that slightly in the morning by the time I got off work and drove home it was so loud I was terrified to break at all. Mechanic said he’s not seen calipers seize up like that in a newer model car.

The engine has a massive oil leak that seems to be more common than Mazda will admit. The safety-related issue is the oil pours out like pancake syrup which can be bad for other drivers, the environment and cause road asphalt to break down at a rapid pace. I also don't have a warranty. When I consulted Mazda all they wanted to do is charge me $7,000 for a new engine from all the research I found on the internet. This is a problem that is affecting many people because when you only have one vehicle and have no way to make money. Most people will just keep adding oil to keep it going. Many customers are left with a car payment with no way out and a car they can't really drive other than short distances. Something needs to be done to hold them accountable for this common problem. I don't know anyone that can afford a $ 40,000-yard brick. If we can hold big pharma accountable why not vehicle manufactories.

There is no recall on this which is a huge safety issue. This has happened to me on highway several times and Mazda will not do anything about it. Very dangerous when you are going 65 on a highway! TSB Number 01-007/19- misfire P0304- of 4th cylinder. Recommendation to replace main silencer due to condensation accumulation in the exhaust baffle. Please search the TSB and misfire code I provided to learn more about it. If you are out of warranty. You are out of luck with Mazda. I will take upon myself to educate others where Mazda could careless to correct this or let the public now.
While driving, my car has stopped two times. first time I crashed on the side of road causing all of my tires and rim busted and had to replace all of them. I had no idea what was going on. second time I was taking kids to school where can just stopped in the middle of road and restarted. Recently it was smelling so I took it to dealer where they said its one of the cylinder and its not safe to drive so they replaced it as its under warranty. While my car is been with Mazda dealer I have been using their loaner car. but then received this letter of Safety recall on similar issue i had in the past and i have been trying to contact Mazda but no success. no email, chat or phone call response. I do not feel safe to drive this car which i bought in 2018, its been having lot of engine related issues. and i do not feel safe to drive this car with my kids in it. I have requested Dealer to let me keep the loner car until they fix safety recall issue. and i am trying to contact Mazda but no response please help.

This is more of a general notice to fellow Mazda CX-5 drivers with the issue described below: Our car is a 2018 CX-5 with 25K miles. The check engine light came on upon entering the highway at the beginning of the day. Subsequently, stopping by an AutoZone to diagnose it revealed a malfunctioning thermostat. Only then did I realize the car took a long time to reach the operating temperature (for the blue indicator light to go away), and engine temperature would generally stay around 165 and hit 210 only after a very long time of driving, while idling or in traffic. However, our internal heater performance never had any issues while being kept at 75 and blowing mild to moderately. Upon taking the car to our Mazda dealership and requesting a diagnostic service, did we learn it was a malfunctioning coolant control valve that there is a technical service bulletin (# 01-011/21) for such a thing, and covered under our CPO powertrain warranty for replacement.
The contact owns a 2018 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated that on two separate occasions, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer on multiple occasions; however, the mechanic could not diagnose or service the failure. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V875000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer was also notified of the recall and confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was not successful. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Our 2018 CX5 has only 28K miles. During a recent oil change at our local auto repair facility I was informed that the driver's side rear shock was leaking oil and needed to be replaced. After some research I found there is a Mazda TSB (Bulletin No.: 02-001/21) stating that many 2017-2020 CX5s left the factory with defective rear shocks. In my opinion, loss of shocks could affect stability of a vehicle and cause a crash. There should be a recall to replace these defective shocks!
The contact owned a 2018 Mazda CX5. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 35 - 40 MPH, the power steering assist and brakes failed, causing the vehicle to crash into trees. None of the air bags deployed upon impact. All of the warning lights were illuminated. The contact's wife attempted to turn off the vehicle, but it would not turn off. The fire department had to disconnect the battery to turn off the vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact's wife was later taken to the hospital for injuries sustained to her knees. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and was not yet deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
On 11/28/2021, my vehicle suddenly showing five warnings 1, front camera sensor malfunction, 2, smart brake system malfunction, 3, forward smart city brake support malfunction, 4, HBC/LAS system malfunction, and 5, SCBC malfunction. I have no idea which part was go wrong, but this is not the first time my vehicle shows the same warning. Back to 12/20/2019, my vehicle has a same warning showed, I bring my vehicle to dealer to check but after they check, they told me nothing wrong. After two year the same problem come out again, I am very concern about the safety of my vehicle. The first time having a issue was my vehicle just a year old, and today the same issue come out again. Please help me to look up my vehicle is it any part has to recall and need to fix it. Thank you
Engine light came on, pulled over to the side to open the hood. Engine was smoking and oil was leaking all over the floor. Checked the oil dipsitick, still had oil but could smell the burnt oil. Towed the truck to the dealers and said its Engine head cylinder is cracked.
The contact owns a 2018 Mazda CX-5. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V875000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact was advised to try again in July or August. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that the part to do the recall repair would not be available until the Summer of 2022. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Massive oil leak onto exhaust manifold, dealership checked and found oil leaking from right rear area of cylinder head. "Per SA/031/21 should replace cylinder head and all gaskets and hardware". My safety and the safety of others was put at risk because if my car had no oil in it, which it was close to, the engine could have seized and caused an accident. The fumes of burning oil made me severely ill as well. The problem was confirmed by the Mazda dealership and has been inspected as well. The only reason I knew something was wrong was because the oil light came on and I contacted the dealership and they said it was a sensor issue and I did not believe that they were correct so I brought it in and they looked at it and said it was a massive oil leak and then told me that the cylinder head assembly needed to be replaced and it was a rare occurance but it had happened due to a casting issue.
My vehicle has an open recall that poses a safety risk for myself and all passengers. I spoke with Mazda Service Department/Dealer in my area and they stated that Mazda would not have these parts available until summer of 2022. The service department also stated “the vehicle is completely safe to drive”. I am wary of this response as a potential stalled engine is a major safety risk for myself and all passengers. MAZDA will also start mailing out recall letters by January 22nd, which is a huge delay in response. This is unacceptable and I am wary about driving the vehicle. Please let me know what are my options here.

While stopped at a pharmacy pick up window, I engaged the auto hold. I took my foot off the break and about 3 seconds later my car lurched forward about a whole car length. There was nothing in front of me, but had there been I would have hit it.
The vehicle stall at very low speed in a parking lot could not restart it was turning over the battery was fine came back 3 hours later and was able to start
Engine turned off while making a k turn. This is the same issue I experienced in 2019. Mazda issued a recall for software malfunction shortly thereafter and my car was serviced as part of this recall (NHTSA campaign number: 19V497). But now the exact issue happened again last week.

Multiple paint chips on Ref Soul Mazda. Dealer did not want to address issue. I would have to pay out pocket. The hood and sides of car.
Neither you nor Mazda has notified me about the current recall with the Fuel Pump. I've heard about it months ago from web sites that aren't supposed to notify me. Both you and Mazda have never notified me. Mazda was supposed to send out notices to the car owners 3 weeks ago. Why aren't I hearing about this?
P225/65R17 GEOLANDAR G91A 100H tire was loosing air with 12k miles. mazda service dealer claimed many punctures due to driving in NYC but car was sold in NYC. (3) nails located in very soft rubber and tire failed at 15k miles casing emergency situation. (3) others tire have no single issue. after getting new tire and after removing damaged tire following picture is in side the bad tire: many layers of rubber chipping off the tire. please investigate this tire and after searching internet for this tire I realized that something is going wrong with this tire type.
My husband (driver) and I (front passenger) were in my 2018 Mazda CX-5 Touring and were stopped in traffic on the interstate due to construction. While completely stopped, we were rear-ended by a car traveling at 55-60+ miles per hour (the car did not brake at all before hitting us). Both of our seat backs failed upon impact and went all the way back, with the headrests flying out of both seats. Thankfully no passengers or pets were in the back seat when this happened, but this is a serious safety concern. Attached are photos of the inside of the car in the state it was in after the crash.
