DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, SECONDS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER, MY MAZDA6 SHUT OFF AND I LOST POWER STEERING. I GOT STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE LEFT SIDE (IF STANDING IN FRONT OF CAR) UNDER THE HOOD AND RADIATOR FLUID WAS POURING OUT THE BOTTOM. CAR WOULDN'T START, CLICK CLICK CLICK, HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. HAD A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC LOOK AT THE CAR, HE SAID THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. **MY CAR GAVE ZERO INDICATIONS THAT IT WAS OVERHEATING, NO CHANGE IN THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE.** I THINK THERE IS A DEFECT SOMEWHERE IN THIS AREA, AS IT SHOULD'VE TOLD ME IT WAS OVERHEATING. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN JUNE 2006 AND HAVE BABIED IT. THIS IS THE FIRST AND ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE EVER HAD WITH IT. I DID NOT REPLACE THE ENGINE. *TR

WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF THE ENGINE COOLING FAN SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR IN STILL RUNNING...IT REVS UP AND BACK DOWN AND IT KEEPS REPEATING THIS THREE OR FOUR TIMES. I THOUGHT THE HOOD WAS GOING TO BLOW OFF BUT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INSIDE THE CAR DOES NOT SAY IT IS OVERHEATING. I BELIEVE THIS THE RESULT OF A FAULTY COOLING FAN CONTROL MODULE. THIS CONTROL MODULE SHOULD REALLY BE RECALLED BECAUSE IT IS PROBABLY CAUSING OTHER PROBLEMS AND IT IS KIND OF SCARY WHEN YOUR CAR IN SITTING IN YOUR GARAGE TURNED OFF BUT KEEPS GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER. *TR

I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR STARTED TO SMOKE. I WAS ABLE TO LET IT AIR OUT ENOUGH TO DRIVE HOME. AS SOON AS I MADE IT HOME, THE SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT OF THE WINDOW CONTROL AND THE WHOLE DOOR PANEL, RUSHED TO GET MY KIDS OUT OF THE CAR. AS THE SMOKE THICKENED A FIRE STARTED, I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT OUT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER BEFORE TOO MUCH DAMAGE WAS CAUSED. *JS
5 MONTHS AGO, TOOK CAR TO MAZDA DEALER FOR TIMING CHAIN, VVT NOISE AND WAS REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. LAST MONTH STARTED TO FEEL INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER DURING QUICK ACCELERATION FOLLOWED BY PLUME OF SMOKE AT THE TAIL PIPE. TOOK TO LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS HEAVY CARBON BUILDUP AT THE VALVES AS WELL AS MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, O2 SENSOR, AND OTHER ENGINE COMPONENTS. THE BILL WAS FOR ABOUT 1800 WORTH OF PARTS AND LABOR FOR DEEP CLEANING THE VALVES (INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVED). AFTER REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED, TOOK CAR HOME AND DROVE FOR ABOUT 25 MILES WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED AND I SMELLED BURNT OIL AND SMOKE INSIDE THE CABIN. I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR TO THE SIDE AND LOOKED UNDER THE CAR TO FIND LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL LEAKING FROM ENGINE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO SAME MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD A ROD SHEARED AND BLEW A HOLE THROUGH THE BLOCK AND PUNCTURED THROUGH THE TRANSFER CASE HOUSING. THERE WAS NO ROD BEARING FAILURE, THE ROD JUST SNAPPED IN HALF. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THE ENTIRE REPAIR COST AND WILL NOT COVER THE TRANSFER CASE DAMAGE. READING THROUGH SEVERAL FORUMS, THE SAME ENGINE DAMAGE HAS OCCURRED TO SEVERAL OTHER MAZDASPEED 6 OWNERS. THIS TYPE OF ENGINE FAILURE APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THESE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURES. *TR

MY MAZDA6 DRIVER FRONT AIR BAG INFLATOR IS HAZARDOUS, POTENTIALLY DEADLY, RECALLED NEARLY 5 MONTHS AGO AND STILL NO REPLACEMENT PART IS AVAILABLE. THIS IS MY ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION AND I AM RISKING MY OWN LIFE AS WELL AS PASSENGERS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. I LIVE IN A HIGH HUMIDITY, HIGH RISK STATE (GA) FOR THESE FAULTY INFLATORS AND NEED REPLACEMENT AND SAFETY REASSURANCE ASAP! *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT 733AM AND MY BRAKES LOCKED FRONT WHEEL SLID CARD DID NOT STOP AND HIT FRONT VEHICLE AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND CAUSE ME AN ACCIDENT WHICH CAR WAS COMPLETELY A LOSS AND IM STILL SCARE THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT WORK.
