BOTH HEADLIGHTS AT DIFFERENT TIMES HAVE GONE OUT, BEEN REPLACED AND GO OUT AGAIN WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF REPLACING THE BULB. IF YOU BANG ON OR HIT THE HEADLIGHT IT MAY COME BACK ON. HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE 4 TIMES IN ONE YEAR. HITTING BUMPS IN THE ROAD MAY BRING THE BULB ON OR OFF ALSO.
4/23/12 - TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR AIRBAG LIGHT THAT WOULD CONTINUOUSLY FLASH ON DASHBOARD WHENEVER CAR WAS ON. THEIR FINDINGS: "PULLED CODE B1127 - CLEANED & TIGHTENED TERMINALS IN CONNECTOR UNDER SEAT TO CORRECT RESISTANCE. TEST DROVE OK. CONNECTOR 0810-15." COST ME $92.00 TO REPAIR. 3/12/14, (94,425 MILES) TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP AFTER EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM WITH FLASHING AIRBAG LIGHT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS PRIOR. THEIR DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE: "TECHNICIAN PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS USING MAZDA SCAN TOOL. FOUND CODE B1127 - PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG MODULE HIGH RESISTANCE. CHECKED FOR TSB S, FOUND TSB 08-001/09 - COATING ON AIRBAG TERMINALS ALLOWING OXIDATION-- REPLACE MODULE. INSTALLED GS3L-57-KA0B: MODULE (R) A/B SIDE, REPLACED MODULE PER TSBP 08-001/09. CLEARED CODE FROM PCM." THIS TIME IT COST ME $453.87!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THIS YET!!! ALSO IN JAN. 2015, (92,000 MILES) I WALKED OUT TO MY CAR ONE DAY, DURING THE WINTER, TO FIND MY PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD WITH A HUGE CRACK IN IT! IT IS ALSO VERY STICKY FEELING. I HAVEN'T EVEN LOOKED INTO HOW MUCH IT'S GOING TO COST TO REPAIR THIS. AFTER DOING SOME MORE RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT ALLOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR DASHBOARD AND I THINK MAZDA NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED AND FIX THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH FRONT DOOR LOCKS DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 58,000. UPDATED 03/16/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THREE OF THE SCREWS WERE MISSING. HE ALSO CHECKED THE OTHER DOORS, AND THEY WERE EITHER MISSING OR LOOSE. UPDATED 04/09/12
VALVE STEM CRACKED THEN COMPLETELY BROKE OFF UNDER THE PLASTIC CAP. THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON 2-3 DAYS PRIOR TO INCIDENT. EACH MORNING WHEN COLD DURING FIRST START UP LIGHT WOULD COME ON, AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING AFTER VEHICLE WARMED LIGHT WOULD TURN OFF. ON WAY HOME FROM WORK TRAVELING 70MPH LIGHT CAME BACK ON. TOOK THE NEXT EXIT AND STOPPED AT GAS STATION TO FILL UP TIRES, REMOVED VALVE STEM CAP AND INSTALLED AIR HOSE. AIR HOSE COULD NOT FILL UP TIRE, AIR JUST CAME OUT OF THE SIDE OF STEM, REINSTALLED VALVE CAP. AT THAT TIME WE DIDN'T KNOW THE STEM WAS CRACKED SO I DROVE THE CAR VERY SLOWLY APPROX 3 MILES TO MY PARENTS HOUSE SO MY DAD COULD HELP. HE TRIED TO REMOVE THE VALVE CAP, AT THIS TIME THE STEM COMPLETELY BROKE OFF AT THE THREADS AND STAYED WITH THE CAP. THE STEM INTERNAL PARTS SPRANG OUT SO IT WAS NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE TIRE AND INSTALL THE SPARE. WE TOOK THE TIRE TO NEAREST BELLE TIRE SO THEY COULD REPLACE THE STEM BUT SINCE IT WAS A DEALER ONLY PART ALL THEY COULD WAS REPLACE IT WITH A STANDARD RUBBER STEM WITH NO SENSOR. THEY MENTIONED IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THEY HAD SEEN BEFORE, TO WHICH I WAS VERY SURPRISED. THESE SENSORS WERE CREATED TO COMBAT LOW AIR PRESSURE AFTER THE "TREAD ACT" AND IRONICALLY ARE CAUSING A LOW AIR PRESSURE. THE ORIGINAL CAUSE OF THE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS DUE TO A SLIGHTLY BENT RIM ON THE INSIDE. THIS HAD A SLOW LEAK AFTER BELLE TIRE REPLACED THE STEM. WE TOOK THE TIRE TO BRIGHTON MAZDA THE FOLLOWING DAY TO REPLACE THE SENSOR, THEY TOO SAID THEY HAD SEEN CRACKED STEMS IN THE PAST. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND DETERMINE IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I THINK ITS VERY IRONIC THIS IS HAPPENING WHEN THE FREE RUBBER STEMS ALMOST NEVER FAIL AND $70 SENSORS ARE BREAKING ON A 3 YEAR OLD CAR. *TR
2009 MAZDA 6. CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING OUTER DOOR HANDLE VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL 5209A *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT ONE OF THE DOORS WAS STILL OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. DESPITE CHECKING TO MAKE SURE ALL THE DOORS WERE SECURELY CLOSED, THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO STAY ON, UNTIL THE CONSUMER STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. ALSO, THE ABS, TCS AND BRAKE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AS WELL. THE CONSUMER THEN DISCOVERED HE WAS NOT ABLE TO LOCK THE VEHICLE BY USING THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE. THE BUTTON WAS NON-RESPONSIVE AND SYMPTOMS ONLY WORSENED AS TIME WENT BY. THE CONSUMER WENT TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND A DIAGNOSTICS TEST REVEALED THE FAULTY DOOR HANDLE WAS THE REASON FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE RECALL. WHEN THE CONSUMER WENT BACK TO THE DEALER, HE WAS INFORMED, HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. *JB
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY AC ON IN MY 2009 MAZDA 6 AND THE CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND THE AC GOT HOT. I HAD TO PULL OVER WITH MY INFANT IN THE CAR INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO MAZDA AND THEY SAID THAT THE COOLING FAN FOR THE MOTOR AND THE AC WERE FAULTY, BUT SINCE THE CAR WAS 4,000 MILES OVER WARRANTY, THEY WOULD ONLY GIVE $200 TOWARD THE $907 JOB FOR THEIR FAULTY PART. I LOOKED IT UP AND THERE IS A TSB FOR THIS PART. NHTSA ITEM #10032548 . IF THERE ARE MANY OTHERS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THIS FAULTY MANUFACTURED PART ON RELATIVELY NEW CARS I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. IT WAS THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE SUMMER HERE WHEN THE AC WENT AND MY CAR STARTED TO OVERHEAT WITH MY 6 MONTH OLD IN THE CAR. MY CAR ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 MAZDA 6 S TOURING WITH 18000 MILES ON IT AND THE THREE SCREWS THAT HOLD THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY ON CAME LOOSE AND FELL OUT. THESE SCREWS SHOULD OF BEEN LOCKED TIGHTENED IN PLACE AND IT SEEMS THAT ALL THE LATCH SCREWS ON THE CAR WERE NOT SECURED NOT TO WORK LOOSE. *TR. ..UPDATED 04/18/13 *BF
IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY LOCAL WALGREEN'S, I GOT OUT OF MY CAR, CLOSED THE DOOR AND MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. ALL CURTAIN AIRBAGS, AND THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT AIRBAG. I WAS NOT IN ANY SORT OF ACCIDENT, NOR WHERE THERE ANY CARS AROUND ME. I SIMPLY PULLED INTO THE WALGREEN'S TO STOP AND VERIFIED I HAD NOT LEFT SOMETHING IMPORTANT THAT I NEEDED AT HOME.
I WAS CLEANING MY CAR AND FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD WAS SORT OF MELTING. LINT FROM MY TOWEL WAS STICKING TO IT. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT SOMEHOW HAVE SOMETHING ON IT, SO I KEPT SCRUBBING, AND THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE. I TRIED CLEANING IT ON A CLOUDY, COOL DAY, BUT THE LINT WAS STILL STUCK, NOT COMING OFF!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE VALVE STEM WAS CORRODED AND CAUSING THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE TIRES OR THE VALVE STEM. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED TWICE. THE DEALER FIRST REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERS EXPENSE BUT DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRING THE VEHICLE A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY TURNED THE DEFROST ON AND A YELLOW SAC SPIDER CAME OUT OF THE VENT AND BIT HIM. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH A PHARMACIST REGARDING THE SPIDER BITE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HEARD OF THE FAILURE WITH THE YELLOW SAC SPIDER. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD CONSIDERED ISSUING A RECALL NOTICE AT THE END OF MARCH OR THE BEGINNING OF APRIL, BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED IN OTHER COUNTRIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER CAME TO HIS HOME, RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, INSPECTED IT BY PLACING A STICK AND A BRUSH INSIDE THE FUEL LINE. IF THERE WERE NO SPIDERS IN THE FUEL LINE, THEY WOULD RETURN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED SINCE THEY WERE NOT CHECKING THE AIR VENTS WHERE THE SPIDER WAS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK SINCE THE SPIDERS COULD COME OUT OF THE VENTS WHILE DRIVING. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,800.
I BOUGHT MY MAZDA 6, YEAR 2009, BRAND NEW FROM A MAZDA DEALER IN VIRGINIA. SOME TIME AGO, WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT AT APPROXIMATELY. 30 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON ONE OF THE MAIN ROADS, I THEN TURNED ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL AS I NEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT THE VERY NEXT LIGHT. SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAFFIC. LUCKILY I WAS NOT HIT BY THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE GEAR IN PARK, START THE ENGINE AGAIN AND DRIVE THE CAR HOME. I THEN CALLED THE MAZDA DEALER (WHERE I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR) AND I IMMEDIATELY MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED. TO MY GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT, THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM I HAD ON THE ROAD, WHEN THE ENGINE DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR. A FEW MONTHS LATER A SIMILAR PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN AND THE MAZDA DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH IT AT THAT TIME EITHER. NOW MAZDA HAS A RECALL FOR MAZDA 6, 2010-2012 ONLY, BUT IT'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SPIDER'S WEBS AND POSSIBLE RISK OF CRACKS IN THE FUEL TANK, WITH A RISK OF A FIRE. I'M CONCERNED THE YEAR 2009 IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SINCE THE SAME PROBLEM APPEARED IN THE EARLIER RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MAZDA 6 . THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A HIGH RESISTANCE ON THE WIRE GOING TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. THE DEALER CLEANED THE CONNECTOR AS A REMEDY HOWEVER, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ONCE AGAIN AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIRBAG . THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED CORRECTLY OR FURTHER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND UPDATED 05/08/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN, THEN THEY REPLACED THE SRS CONTRO UNTIL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED TWO MORE TIMES.
TL* THE CONTACT WAS SERVICING A 2009 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VALVE STEM ON THE TIRE PRESSURE MOUNTING TRAIN SYSTEM WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED AND CAUSING THE TIRE TO LEAK AIR ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE, NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,349 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,349.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MAZDA, MAZDA 6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70-75 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT ROLLED OVER. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT STATED EARLIER IN THE YEAR THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A NOISE AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,500.
I UNDERSTAND THAT THE CAR ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE; HOWEVER, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT MY RIM WOULD CRACK AS I'M DRIVING. LIKE I SAID A MILLION TIMES TO SO MANY PEOPLE, I DID NOT HIT A CURB, OR A BUMP FOR THE RIM TO CRACK. I HAVE ONE RIM ISSUE AND ALL THE OTHERS ARE JUST FINE. THIS IS MY RIM STORY FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END... IN THE WEEK OF AUGUST 15TH-21ST, 2010, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ALL OF A SUDDEN. I GOT NERVOUS AND I NOTICED MY FRONT-RIGHT TIRE WAS SOMEWHAT LOW. I WENT TO PEP BOYS TO HAVE AIR PUT INTO THE TIRE. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN AND I WENT TO ANOTHER PEP BOYS TO HAVE AIR PUT INTO THE TIRE. THE WARNING LIGHT DISAPPEARED AFTER IT WAS WORKED ON. THEN THE WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS AND I WENT BACK TO PEP BOYS TO HAVE THE FRONT-RIGHT TIRE CHECKED AGAIN. THE YOUNG MAN SAID TO ME, "MISS, THERE IS A CRACK INSIDE OF YOUR FRONT-RIGHT RIM." I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO REPAIRS RIMS AND REPAIR MY RIM. EVERYTHING WAS FINE AFTER THE RIM WAS REPAIRED. THEN I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MAZDA CORPORATION ABOUT RECALLS. I HAD THOSE DONE AND THE DEALER SAID, "I NEED TO GET MY TIRES CHECKED AGAIN." I LEFT THE DEALER AND WENT TO FIRESTONE AND THEY REPAIRED THE CRACKED RIM (2ND TIME). ON JANUARY 11, 2014, MY AUNT AND I RETURNED FROM FOOD SHOPPING AROUND 3PM. I PARKED THE CAR AT MY AUNT'S HOUSE TO UNPACK THE FOOD FROM THE TRUNK. MY AUNT, COUSIN AND I WERE GETTING SOME OF THE FOOD OUT OF THE CAR, WHEN ALL THREE OF US HEARD AIR (WHOOOOOOSH) BEING BLOWN OUT OF A TIRE FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. WE ALL STOOD STILL AND LOOKED TO SEE WHICH CAR THE AIR WAS COMING FROM. THEN MY COUSIN LOOK AT MY CAR SAID, "[XXX], DO YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A FLAT?" I JUST COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS WAS HAPPENING AGAIN! WHEN AC OR HEAT WAS ON AT ANY SPEED, IT WOULD RUN FOR A FEW MINS. THEN STOP BLOWING OUT AIR BEFORE SLOWLY DYING OUT. IT WOULD MAKE NOISE LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO WORK AGAIN, BUT THEN WOULDN'T. TOOK IT TO MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THEY DID "TEST ON AC/HVAC SYSTEM & FOUND FAULTY CONTROL HEAD DUE TO ELECTRICAL FAILURE." THEY INSTALLED A HEATER CONTROL & THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED FOR A WHILE. 3 MONTHS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THE "HVAC BLOWER MOTOR WAS TRIPPING OUT ON INTERNAL THERMAL OVERLOAD" SO THEY REPLACED THE HVAC BLOWER MOTOR. WHILE THAT WAS GETTING FIXED, I ALSO HAD THEM LOOK INTO ANOTHER PROBLEM I WAS HAVING. THE TCS/DSC LIGHT WOULD STAY LIT FOR 10-15 MINS AFTER I STARTED MY CAR AND SOMETIMES WOULD JUST RANDOMLY COME ON WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP DID TEST & FOUND "CODE C0034 - RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL RATE OUT OF RANGE & C0027, C0048 - RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN, TECH MONITORED SENSOR & FOUND INTERNAL SENSOR FAILURE. CORRECTED BY ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. INSTALLED GS3L-43-70X: RIGHT FRONT ABS SENSOR."
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MAZDA 6. WHILE BRAKING, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE FRONT TIRE WAS FLAT WITHIN 30 SECONDS. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VALVE STEMS WERE CORRODED AND CAUSED THE TIRE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE CONTACT'S FACTORY WARRANTY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 13,000.
2009 MAZDA ISPORT HAS GONE THROUGH TWO COMPLETE SETS OF BRAKES, ROTORS, AND PADS AND IT ONLY HAS 22,000 MILES ON IT. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY INCONSISTENT WHEN APPLIED. SOMETIMES IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND SOMETIMES IT ONLY TRAVELS A SMALL DISTANCE. IT'S MUCH WORSE WHEN THE DSC IS ENGAGED. *TR

NEW HID HEADLAMPS HAVE VERY LITTLE LIGHT TO SEE ABOVE A CERTAIN HEIGHT DEPENDING ON ROAD TERRAIN. AS EXAMPLE WHEN GOING DOWNHILL YOU CANNOT SEE THE LANES IN UPCOMING UPHILL GRADES. THE LACK OF ELIMINATION IN THE AREA ABOVE THE HORIZONTAL PROJECTION, PREVENTS SEEING ROAD SIGNS, LANE CHANGES, AND PEDESTRIANS IF YOU ARE TRAVELING AT A DOWNHILL ANGLE ON YOUR APPROACH. MY CAR, 2009 MAZDA 6, HAS ADJUSTMENT TO RAISE PROJECTION DEPENDING ON WEIGHT OF PASSENGERS IN BACK SEAT, BUT THESE NEW LIGHTS IN MY OPINION ARE STILL UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. I SPOKE TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DEALER TO INQUIRE ABOUT POSSIBLY CHANGING OUT THESE LIGHTS FOR SOME OTHER TYPE, BUT HE SAID HE HAD SAME PROBLEM WHEN DRIVING HIS VEHICLE AT NIGHT. THIS HEADLIGHT DESIGN IS BEING ADDED TO MORE VEHICLE MAKES AND IS MAKING NIGHT DRIVING A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR ALL NEW CARS USING THIS DESIGN. THESE NEW HEADLAMPS ARE WORTHLESS ON HILLY TERRAIN. SINCE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSON AGREED AND THERE IS NO APPARENT FIX, I BELIEVE THIS WILL RESULT IN MORE NIGHT ACCIDENTS. *TR
THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES IN THE 2009 MAZDA6 VEHICLES. I HAVE HAD BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS GO OUT ON ME ON TWO OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. ONCE BOTH LAMPS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE SECOND TIME BANGING ON THE LIGHT COVER GOT THEM TO WORK AGAIN. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MAZDA TO JUST BANG ON THE LIGHT COVER WITH MY HAND AND IT SHOULD COME BACK ON. THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT GOES OUT OFTEN AND TO GET IT TO COME BACK ON I HAVE TO BANG ON THE LIGHT COVER. I'VE PUT ABOUT 12 BULBS IN THE CAR. YOU FIND SIMILAR INCIDENTS ON THE WEB IN MAZDA FORUMS. MY BRAKES ON MY 2009 MAZDA 6S HAVE FAILED 3 TIMES, RESULTING IN THE MASTER CYLINDER BEING REPLACED 2X, AND THE ABS UNIT 1X. WHEN I WOULD BRING MY CAR TO A STOP, IT WOULD START TO ROLL AGAIN. THIS MADE ME VERY CONCERNED ABOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR
Original owner, purchased new, current mileage 35,700. The rear subframes and suspension links are severely rusted and deteriorating rapidly, making this car unsafe to drive unless most (or all) the components are replaced and the metal subframes rust treated. This is a well known problem among owners and the Mazda 6 has been recalled for rusted front subframes but not for the rear. The car spent 4 of its 13 years in upstate New York and the remainder in Alexandria VA and has shared parking space, car washes and normal maintenance with the family's 2000 BMW Z3, which has been driven 115,000 miles and shows no subframe/suspension rust damage. Mazda should be made to recall this and its other vehicles with this problem and either make the repairs or offer a substantial settlement for the inevitable scrappage of the car. I'm pursuing a class action lawsuit.

I PURCHASED A 2009 MAZDA6 ON 3/26/2009. FOUR DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE THE NEW VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP TO REPLACE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASTING HAD A SMALL WEEP HOLE IN IT WHICH WAS CAUSING A LEAK. DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I TOOK MY 2009 MAZDA6 TOURING EDITION IN TO GET MY FIRST OIL CHANGE. THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION WITH ONLY 3,600 MILES. WHEN I RETURNED LATER TO PICK UP THE CAR I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE DOOR LOCKS. I SAID OKAY SO WHAT NOW. THE JIM ELLIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID WE WILL GIVE YOU A LOANER. I TURNED IN THE CAR ON SATURDAY I PICKED THE CAR UP ON TUESDAY AND DROVE IT HOME. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE I TRIED TO LOCK THE DOOR BY PUSHING THE BUTTON ON THE DRIVER SIDE. NOTHING HAPPENED SO I TRIED A FEW MORE TIMES. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THE DOOR WAS WITH THE KEY. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY ASKED IF I COULD BRING THE CAR BACK FOR THEM TO TAKE A LOOK. I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THEY STILL COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY AGAIN GAVE ME A LOANER CAR. THURSDAY EVENING I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS FIXED. THEY SAID AN ENGINEER HAD LOOKED AT THE CAR AND IT WAS FIXED FOR SURE. WELL GUESS WHAT IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THE BATTERY MUST HAVE BEEN RUN DOWN BECAUSE THE DOORS WERE LEFT OPEN. MY 2009 MAZDA 6 I TOURING AT DURING DRIVING AT 20-25 MPH OR AT 50-80 MPH PRODUCES A SULFUR EMISSION FROM THE AIR VENTS INSIDE AS WELL AS FROM THE EXHAUST PIPES. THIS BEGAN WHEN THE ODOMETER WAS JUST OVER 300 MILES. EVEN THOUGH THIS CAR REQUIRES REGULAR UNLEADED OCTANE RATING 87 GAS, OCTANE RATING 92 HAS BEEN USED AS WELL AS GENERIC BRANDS OF GAS. SINCE SWITCHING BACK FROM OCTANE 92 GAS TO REGULAR UNLEADED OCTANE 87 GAS (AS ADVISED FROM THE METRO MAZDA DEALERSHIP IN MA) AND FROM THE GENERIC TO A MORE RECOGNIZED BRAND OF GAS (MOBILE), THE SULFUR EMISSION FROM THE AIR VENTS HAS BEEN GREATLY REDUCED TO BECOME A RARE OCCURRENCE, BUT IS STILL THERE, AS RECENT AS 10/22/09 ON THE HIGHWAY WITH ABOUT 4200 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE SULFUR EMISSION STILL COMES OUT FROM THE EXHAUST PIPES AND IS MOST NOTABLE IN THE GARAGE WHETHER THE CAR IS RUNNING OR NOT. THE SMELL IS STILL NOTICED WHEN OUTSIDE, RUNNING OR NOT, AND HAPPENS FREQUENTLY, ALMOST EVERY TIME THE CAR IS SHUT OFF. WHETHER DISTANCE IN TRAVEL IS SHORT OR LONG, THE EMISSION FROM BOTH AREAS REMAINS AND HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. *TR
2009 MAZDA 6 I TOURING AT MAKES AN INTENSE BUZZING VIBRATION SOUND AFTER SHIFTING TO DRIVE AT FIRST IGNITION OF THE DAY BEFORE ANY ACCELERATION. THE VIBRATION COMES FROM THE CENTER CUPHOLDERS IN THE FRONT, WHICH IN TURN IS FROM THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ITSELF. THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE FROM DAY ONE. *TR

The rear sub frame on this vehicle was not painted and/or coated to properly withstand the corrosion that is caused by the salt used to treat the roads in the winter. This can cause serious issues.
