2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE, REAR WINDOW EXPLODED OUT ON ITS OWN. BLOW GLASS OUT 4 FEET FROM VEHICLE. *TR
MY GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK WHETHER IT IS COLD OR WARM. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 2007. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DUE TO CARBON BUILDUP AND THAT A FUEL INJECTION CLEANING WAS NEEDED. MY THROTTLE BOTTLE WAS REPLACED ALSO. FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, MY PEDAL HAS BEEN STICKING AGAIN. THIS IS QUITE DANGEROUS SINCE I CANNOT MOVE FORWARD AT A LIGHT WHEN IT TURNS GREEN AND I CANNOT ACCELERATE WHEN ALREADY DRIVING. I SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE TO THE NHTSA. I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE MY THROTTLE BODY AGAIN WITHIN 2 YEARS, ESPECIALLY IF THIS IS ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD. PLEASE REVIEW THIS ISSUE FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL. *TR
HAVE A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE 4CYL, AND AM HAVING SPEED CONTROL ISSUES WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD. THE GAS PEDAL STICKS AND WILL NOT DEPRESS, EVEN WHEN BEING STOMPED ON. THIS ISSUE OCCURS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW 40 DEGREES. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN COMING AROUND A CORNER, OR WHEN DRIVING IN REGULAR TRAFFIC, FORCING ME TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER, ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MODEL AS WELL FOR A RECALL RELATING TO THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE ACCELERATING AT 2 MPH FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AND SLOWLY RETURNED TO THE IDLE POSITION. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN MINIMAL PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,054. THE VIN WAS NOT ACCEPTED.
GAS PEDAL ON 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE STICKS. SOMETIMES YOU PRESS AND NOTHING HAPPENS AND THEN IT WILL TAKE OFF AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES WITH OTHER VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME DUE TO THIS. I HAD THE GAS PEDAL REPLACED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO (MARCH 2008) AND NOW HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN BUT MAZDA TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT AGAIN UNLESS I PAY FOR IT EVEN THOUGH IT'S A RECURRING PROBLEM. I THINK THIS HAS TO BE A DESIGN ISSUE GIVEN THE RECURRENCE BUT MAZDA WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT AND IN FACT DEMANDS PAYMENT EVEN TO ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE A MAZDA TRIBUTE 2006 AND THE GAS PEDAL STICKS QUITE OFTEN. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS WHEN I START DRIVING AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN OR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED DURING A RIDE IF I PULL THE GAS PEDAL TO REDUCE. ARE THERE ANY OTHER MAZDA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM? *TR
2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE: IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT HAS LOCKED INTO PLACE AND DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. ONE OF THE TIMES, DRIVER DROVE TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS TOTALLY DISCONNECTED FROM THE FLOOR BEHIND THE SEAT; SO DRIVER COULD GET OUT. MECHANIC SAID TO NOT BUCKLE AGAIN, BUT IT IS ROUTINE, SO IT HAPPENED AGAIN. NOW WHEN DRIVING, THE BUZZER BUZZES FREQUENTLY TO REMIND TO BUCKLE SEATBELT, THAT CANNOT BE UNBUCKLED. IT IS BUCKLED UP, AND DRIVER IS SITTING ON THE BELT. THIS CAR BELONGS TO A 78 YEAR OLD, WHO WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT IF SHE HAD A WRECK. IT HAS HAPPENED TO MULTIPLE DRIVERS OF HER CAR. I WAS HAVING MY BRAKES REPLACED BY MY BOYFRIEND. HE WAS USING THE JACK TO RAISE THE VEHICLE UP TO TAKE THE TIRE OFF TO CHANGE THE BRAKES. HE RAISED THE VEHICLE, REMOVED THE TIRE AND THEN WITHOUT WARNING THE JACK COLLAPSED AND BENT. THE VEHICLE FELL TO THE CONCRETE. LUCKILY HE WASN'T UNDER THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OR HE WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARALLEL PARK, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN CUT OUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS IMPOSSIBLE. THE MECHANIC THEN SPECULATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE MAY HAVE BECOME LOOSE ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT BRAKE LINES. A WEEK LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BRAKING PROPERLY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY FOUND NO FAILURES. THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL AT 10 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. SHE MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED, BUT ONLY TO THE REAR BRAKES. BOTH REAR BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED AT THAT TIME. CURRENTLY, THE ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED OR REGROUNDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED JUST BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. MAZDA WAS UNHELPFUL WITH EXPLAINING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED SO THAT THE FAILURE DOES NOT RECUR IN TWO YEARS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
MY 2006 TRIBUTE HAS 47,000 MILES. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON-AND STAYED ON, AND THE 4WD LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF 3 OR 4 TIMES ABOUT EVERY MILE. OUR DEALER INSPECTED AND FOUND IT WAS A BROKEN PART IN THE FRONT AXLE, WHICH WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY KEPT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND REPLACED IT. I ASKED IF WE COULD EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE OTHER AXLE AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE A DEFINITIVE ANSWER. EVEN MORE TROUBLING IS THE FACT THAT NOW THE CAR PULLS TO THE RIGHT. THEIR MECHANIC NOTED IN HIS REPAIR REPORT, BUT THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL US ABOUT IT BECAUSE HE SAID IT WAS NOTHING HE DID. WHEN SOMETHING LIKE AND AXLE IS INVOLVED, SHOULDN'T AN ALIGNMENT BE PART OF THE SERVICE? AND AREN'T THEY AT LEAST MORALLY OBLIGATED TO TELL ME THAT THE CAR 'PULLS' NOW? *TR
THROTTLE STUCK CAUSING ENGINE TO RACE AND VEHICLE UNRESPONSIVE. I HAD TO THROW THE CAR INTO PARK (WHILE IT WAS MOVING) AND TURN OFF THE KEY TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND IN OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER. MY CONCERN ISN'T THAT THEY WON'T FIX IT, BUT THAT FROM RESEARCHING WEBSITES, IT APPEARS THAT THIS ISN'T AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MAZDA. SO WHY ISN'T IT A RECALL ITEM? *TR
MY ACCELERATOR HAS STUCK ON MANY OCCASIONS IN THIS VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT VARIOUS TIMES ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT, BUT IT DOES CAUSE PROBLEMS AND COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLE IS TEN YEARS OLD, BUT THE MILEAGE IS ONLY 75,500. *TR
2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. RUNS FINE DURING WARM WEATHER. AT THE SLIGHTEST OUTBREAK OF COLD WEATHER, ACCELERATOR DOES NOT DEPRESS, UNABLE TO GET ANY POWER FROM THE ENGINE. WILL FREEZE UP AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING OR NOT WORK AT ALL. HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS, MAZDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM. HAS ALMOST CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS WHEN ACCELERATING AROUND A TURN DUE TO LOSS OF POWER. MAZDA HAS RECALLED PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT RECALL THIS MODEL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE SUDDENLY EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WORN EQUALLY ON THE INSIDE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 18,938.
THE BACK BRAKES WERE INSPECTED AND THEY WERE WORN DOWN TO 5% VERSUS THE FRONT BRAKES STILL HAVING OVER 50% LEFT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 39K MILES. THE BACK BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED - NOT SURE IF THIS IS GOING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AS WE WERE TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT IT IS UNUSUAL TO REPLACE THE BACK BRAKES AND ROTORS BEFORE THE FRONT. *TR
SEAT BELT HAZARD. THE LOCKING SYSTEM IN THE SEAT BELT HAVE RESTRAINED ME ONCE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE BACK SEAT BELT IS NOW LOCKED DOWN AND WILL NOT MOVE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
GAS PEDAL FREQUENTLY STICKS ON 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS SHE NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD STICK AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE TO HIGHER SPEEDS. IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE SHE WOULD RELEASE HER FOOT FROM THE PEDAL AND TRY TO KICK IT UNTIL IT RETURNED TO THE NORMAL POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE. WHILE DRIVING 62 MPH, THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO HAVE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HESITATE FOR APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 50 MORE MILES. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL UNTIL THE VEHICLE REACHED 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A MAZDA DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC. THE RESULTS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A LOOSE GROUND ON THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE. THE LOOSE GROUND WAS CLEANED AND TIGHTENED. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS EXACT FAILURE. THE BULLETIN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,136 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,900.
MAZDA 2006 TRIBUTE AWD 4 CYLINDER WITH 20,000. AT 17,000 MILES ON IT NOTICED ALL FOUR TIRES SHOWING SIDEWALL WEAR AND FEATHERING ON TREAD. HAD CAR ALIGNED BY DEALER, TOLD CAR ALIGNMENT WAS OUT BY 0.25 DEGREES. AT 20,000 MILES NOTICING CUPPING ON ALL FOUR TIRES. DRIVING 85% HIGHWAY NO OFF ROAD ACTIVITY. NOTICING ALIGNMENT WAS OUT AFTER 3500 MILES. AVERAGE YEARLY DRIVING MILES 20,000. BEGINNING TO FELL THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM IN FRONT END GEOMETRY.*AK
2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE WITH CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TIRES, ONLY 17,000 MILES ON VEHICLE, ALL 4 TIRES ARE SEPARATING BETWEEN TREADS. ONE TIRE HAD 2 SEPARATE FRACTURES ON TIRE IN DIFFERENT PLACES CAUSING TIRE TO GO FLAT. I DID RESEARCH ON THESE TIRES, THERE ARE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH SIDEWALL BLOWOUTS AND FRACTURES BETWEEN TREADS. THIS HAS CAUSE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN BODY DAMAGE AND CONSUMERS HAVING TO REPLACE THESE TIRES AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. CONTINENTAL NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND RECALL AND REPLACE ALL THE TIRES AT NO EXPENSE TO THE CONSUMER. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE AT 45 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. AT THE FIRST INCIDENT THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD, BUT SHE STOPPED THE VEHICLE BY APPLYING THE BRAKE. DURING THE SECOND INCIDENT, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS PULLED UP AND THE VEHICLE REVVED. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE BY SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND TURNING THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION. *AK RETURNED USPS, 2ND ATTEMPT MADE 02/27/07 FAILED. *LJ
WHEN COLD, GAS PEDAL WILL NOT DEPRESS. BECOMES FIRM AND RESISTANT TO PRESSURE. HAVE TO SLAM ON PEDAL, BUT RECEIVE NO POWER FROM ENGINE---HAPPENS ALOT WHEN TRYING TO TURN CORNERS, WILL NOT ACCELERATE- CAN CAUSE SEVERE IF NOT FATAL ACCIDENT IF THIS OCCURS AT THE WRONG TIME. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE HAS HAD A STICKY GAS PEDAL. I ALERTED THE DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST ADVISING OF THIS SAME ISSUE REGARDING MY PRIOR 2003 MAZDA TRIBUTE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD IN THE PAST TO CHANGE THE GAS UTILIZED. IN ADDITION, I WAS RECENTLY ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO A POSSIBLE RECALL. MY CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THERE ARE NO RECALLS AND I WILL BE CHARGED$357 TO HAVE A RING PUT ON THE LEFT WHEEL CAUSING A MALFUNCTION IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS LIGHT). THIS IS AFTER TAKING THE CAR IN DUE TO THE GAS PEDAL STICKING CAUSING ME TO RIDE ONTO THE CURB WITH MY BABIES TO AVOID ANOTHER ACCIDENT. STILL I AM NOT BEING ADVISED THAT THE GAS ISSUE WILL BE CORRECTED. MAZDA HAS CAUSED ME SO MUCH STRESS, TIME, AND PHYSICAL PAIN. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT SOMEONE HAS TO ACTUALLY DIE FOR THE RESEARCH TO BEGIN! *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2006 MAZDA TRIBUTE WITH AN ODOMETER READING OF 11000 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE IT SERVICED AND THEY TOLD HER THAT ALL FOUR TIRES ARE SHOWING SIGNS OF CUPPING. DUE TO THE VEHICLES LOW MILEAGE THE CONTACT FEELS THAT SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS TYPE OF TIRE DAMAGE. THE SHOP STATED THAT UNEVEN TIRE TREAD WEAR WAS THE REASON FOR THE CUPPING. *NM
I PURCHASED A MAZDA TRIBUTE 2006 MODEL ON 9/4/06 AND I TOOK IT IN ON 11/1/06 FOR WATER IN HEADLAMP, WATER WAS GETTING DOWN THE IN WINDOWS, AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT BLINKING. I WAS TOLD AT THE END OF THE DAY THAT THE CAR WAS NOT READY BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT PROBLEM AND THEY ORDERED A PART. WELL, THE NEXT DAY IT WAS THE SAME THING, NEEDED ANOTHER PART AND THEY HAVE BEEN ON THE PHONE WITH MAZDA TECH SUPPORT. WELL TODAY IS 11/7/06 AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY VEHICLE BACK. THEY ARE NOW SAYING THAT THEY HAVE ORDERED ANOTHER PART AND IT WILL BE THREE TO FOUR DAYS BECAUSE THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. I FEEL I HAVE BOUGHT A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE AND MAZDA SHOULD GIVE ME ANOTHER VEHICLE TO REPLACE IT. THIS VEHICLE (FROM THE SOUNDS OF SOUTHERN STATES) HAS HAD ALL OF THE COMPUTER CENSORS REPLACED MINUS THE MAJOR ONE (ACCORDING TO SOUTHERN STATES) AND FOR A VEHICLE TO BE NEW AS THIS ONE IS WITH THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS, I FEEL IS DEFECTIVE. *JB

THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,100. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. UPDATED 03/01/10 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL GETS STUCK IN TH UP POSITION AND REQUIRED AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF FORCE TO DEPRESS. UPDATED 08/20/10*JB
AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT AN UPHILL GRADE--APPROX A 20 DEGREE INCLINE, AS SOON AS THE BRAKE IS RELEASED, THE VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARDS. THE ONLY MEANS TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING BACK IS TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE AGAIN OR TO IMMEDIATELY PRESS HARD ON THE GAS PEDAL. HOWEVER, ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STARTS MOVING UPHILL, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF BACKWARD TRAVEL PRIOR TO THE ENGINE PRODUCING ENOUGH POWER TO OVERCOME THE BACKWARD ROLL. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THERE MIGHT BE VEHICLES DIRECTLY BEHIND ME WHEN THIS OCCURS. FORTUNATELY, I HAVE NOT HAD TO STOP AT ANY STEEP GRADES THAT MIGHT CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ROLLBACK FASTER AND FURTHER AND POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *JB
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 4/7/06 AND ON 4/8/06 I OBSERVED THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS. VEHICLE PRODUCES A NOTICEABLE WHINING/HUMMING NOISE AND VIBRATION THAT IS FELT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL DURING THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS: 1) WHEN THE CAR IS INITIALLY STARTED, 2) WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS SLIGHTLY PRESSED WHILE THE GEAR IS IN THE PARK POSITION 3) WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COMING TO A STOP WITH OR WITHOUT PUSHING ON THE BRAKES, 4) WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED EITHER TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. UPON NOTICING NOISE AND VIBRATION, I TOOK IT TO BACK TO THE DEALER ON 4/10/06. I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT 8:30 A.M ON 4/11/06. AT 3:30 ON 4/11/06, THE DEALER CONTACTED ME AND SAID THAT THE TECH NOTICED THE NOISE AND VIBRATION BUT DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT. DEALER TESTED ANOTHER VEHICLE OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND SAID THAT BOTH VEHICLES WERE MAKING THE SAME NOISE AND THAT IT WAS JUST PROBABLY NORMAL ENGINE NOISE. UPON ARRIVING AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE TECH TOOK ME TO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND WE LISTENED TO THE ENGINE. I INDICATED TO THE TECH THAT THE TEST VEHICLE WAS NOT BEHAVING SIMILARLY AS MY VEHICLE AND SO I WAS REFERRED TO THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER. THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER TESTED THE VEHICLE AND SAID THAT HE THOUGHT THE NOISE WAS NOT NORMAL AND THAT HE COULD FEEL THE VIBRATION FROM THE ENGINE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. HE SAID THAT THERE MIGHT BE SOME GRINDING OCCURRING WHEN THE ENGINE WAS THROTTLING DOWN BUT THAT HE COULD NOT TELL PRECISELY THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE OR VIBRATION AND THAT HE WOULD CONTACT MAZDA ENGINEERS TO SEE IF THE NOISE AND VIBRATION WERE INHERENT TO THE VEHICLE. ON 4/12/06, THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER CONTACTED ME AND SAID THAT HE CALLED THE MAZDA HOTLINE AND THAT THERE WERE NO INCIDENTS OF NOISE OR VIBRATION REPORTED. HE SAID THAT HE COULD NOT FIND ANY REASON FOR THE NOISE AND THAT IT MUST JUST BE NORMAL ENGINE NOISE CAUSED BY THE VEHICLES POWER STEERING. *NM
VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE WHEN ENGINE IS AROUND 1000 RPM BUT DISAPPEARS WHEN THE ENGINE IS BELOW OR ABOVE THE 1000 RPM. THIS OCCURS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CAR IS PARKED OR DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS SO LONG AS THE ENGINE IS AROUND 1000RPM. IN ADDITION TO THE HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE, THERE IS A NOTICEABLE AMOUNT OF VIBRATION THAT IS FELT. ALSO, AFTER COMING TO A FULL STOP, WITHOUT THE GAS PEDAL BEING PRESSED, AFTER HAVING REVVED DOWN TO ABOUT 650 RPM, THE ENGINE SOMETIMES REVS BACK UP TO ABOUT 1000 RPM AND PRODUCE THE WHINING NOISE. *JB
