THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
NO REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE AIR BAG. THEY HAVE FILED FOR CHAPTER 11 BANK RUPCY AND GIVEN DEC 27 AS FINAL FILING DATE.
STATIONARY VEHICLE NO START, NO CRANK WITHOUT WARNING WHILE PARKED ON A CITY STREET. FAILURE WITHIN THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK. VEHICLE WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE DRIVERS KEY. DRIVER AND PASSENGERS LEFT DANGEROUSLY STRANDED WHERE EVER THE VEHICLE IS PARKED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS. THIS FAILURE MAKES IT UNABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL POSITION FOR TOWING.
STEERING COLUMN LOCK FAILURE. THIS DISABLED THE IGNITION NOT ALLOWING THE CAR TO START. FROM A LITTLE REASEARCH ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES. THIS LEFT ME COMPLETELY STRANDED AND MERCEDES DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISSUE ALTHOUGH IT IS EASY TO FIND AND DIAGNOSE WITH A FEW MINUTES ON THE INTERNET. THERE IS ALSO A EIS ISSUE BUT MINE IS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK MOTOR CAUSING THE PROBLEM. MERCEDES NEEDS TO RECALL THESE AND MAKE IT RIGHT. THAY COULD STRAND PEOPLE IN A BAD SITUATION. MY CAR RAN FINE BIT WOULD NOT RESTART. ALL LOCK AND UNLOCK FUNCTIONS WORKED. I HAD A MESSAGE ON THE DASH TO REMOVE KEY. IT HAD NO ACCESSORY TURN ON OR CRANK FUNCTION.
AFTER RECALL # 2015110002-NHTSA#15V711 WAS DONE MY SRS LAMP CAME ON AND NOW MB WANTS $663.79 TO REPLACE MY DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE.COULD THIS RECALL CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN.
ESL FAILURE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON 1200$ ISSUE WITH C-CLASS. THE KEY WOULD TURN BUT THE CAR WON'T START. HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INSTANTLY KNEW IT WAS THE ESL. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE ISSUES. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!

TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM MB ON MAY 2016 AND ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE ON AUGUST 2016 AND HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED MY MB SINCE THEN. IT HAS BEEN ONE YEAR AND FIVE MONTHS SINCE THE FIRST RECALL NOTICE AND MB HAS NOT CONTACTED ME TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS REPLACED.
TAKATA RECALL HAVE BEEN "WAITING FOR PARTS" FOR 18+ MONTHS AND AM STILL DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. EACH TIME I CALL MERCEDES, THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS YET AVAILABLE AND "CAN'T PROVIDE ME WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION"

THESE RECALL NOTICES ARE OVER 1 YEAR OLD. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MY DEALERSHIP TO CONTACT ME ONCE THEY RECEIVE THE PARTS. AS OF TODAY, STILL NO PARTS.

MY WARNING LIGHT AS BEEN ON FOR ALMOST 2YRS AN CANNOT GET DEALER TO FIX OR TURN WARNING OFF!
I WAS LEFT STRANDED LAST WEEK,IT WAS VERY LATE , STOP TO GET GAS AT A NEAR BY GAS STATION . WHEN I WENT TO TRY TO START MY CAR AFTER PUTTING GAS . THE CAR WOULD NOT START . I HAD TO CALL A FAMILY MEMBER AND A TOW TRUCK.IT WAS VERY LATE AND I WAS NOT IN A NICE AREA SOMETHING BAD COULD OF HAPPEN TO ME. I CALLED MERCEDES BUT THEY SAID NOTHING CAN BE DONE TILL I TAKE THEM THE CAR.

ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK - KNOWN DEFECT - CAR DOESN'T START NO RECALL ISSUED.
MY MERCEDES C300 2008 WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. I WALKED OUTSIDE AND WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THE SUNROOF GLASS HAD INEXPLICABLY EXPLODED OUTWARD. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOS. OUR SLIDING SUNROOF SHADE WAS OPEN. WE FOUND GLASS ALL OVER THE ROOF OF THE CAR, IN THE CAR AND ON THE GROUND. FORTUNATELY, NO FAMILY MEMBER WAS CLOSE TO THE CAR WHEN IT OCCURRED. WE ALSO FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE NOT DRIVING THE CAR, FOR THIS DEFECT AND RESULTING EXPLOSION COULD HAVE CAUSED INJURY AND A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT.

TAKATA RECALL: NOTICE OF RECALL FROM APRIL 2016, PARTS FOR BOTH AIRBAGS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. UNREASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME (ABOUT 16-MONTHS) TO RESOLVE THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

'TAKATA RECALL'...I HAVE CONTACTED RUSNAK MERCEDES IN ARCADIA CALIF. NO LESS THAN 6 TIMES THIS LAST YEAR FOR A REPLACEMENT AND STILL THEY SAY NO REPLACEMENT BAGS ARE AVAILABLE...I HAVE A YOUNG COLLEGE DAUGHTER DRIVING THIS CAR AND I AM CONCERNED FOR HER SAFELY...WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG FOR A REPLACEMENT?

VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IT HAS LEFT ME STRANDED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. I GET "REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION" WHEN EITHER KEY IS PLACED IN THE IGNITION. THIS PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT WITH OTHER C300 OWNERS AROUND THE COUNTRY. WHEN I TOLD MY SERVICE ADVISOR AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, J WAS TOLD IT COULD RANGE FROM $475 TO OVER $2000. THE KEYS AND THE IGNITION SYSTEM ARE THE CULPRIT AND MERCEDES HAS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS.

COULD NOT START MY CAR WHILE STATIONARY. PUT KEY IN THE IGNITION AND GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. NO DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. THERE WAS NO CLICKING OR NOISE...IT WAS JUST DEAD. THE ALARM SYSTEM AND HEADLIGHT AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ALL WORKING SO IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY. I CALLED ROADSIDE AND THE GAVE ME A JUMP, BUT CONFIRMED THAT MY BATTERY WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SATURDAY NIGHT AFTER WAITING FOR 5 HOURS. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT EVEN CONDUCT THE DIAGNOSTICS ON THE CAR UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING LOCK WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $1000. THEY DID NOT EVEN OFFER TO LOAN ME A CAR, OR ASK IF I NEEDED TRANSPORTATION. SO ESSENTIALLY THEY LEFT THEIR CUSTOMER STRANDED! THIS IS NOT THE SERVICE THAT IS EXPECTED FROM MERCEDES! I HAVE HAD CARS (ACURA AND BMW) LONGER THAN MY 2008 C300 WITH MORE MILES WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE A REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING LOCK. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG ALL MERCEDES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
MANIFOLD INTAKE CONTROL ARM BROKE AT AROUND 67,000 MILES CAUSING MAJOR ACCELERATION PROBLEMS PRIMARILY IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR AT LOW RPMS. IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. AFTER INSPECTING DESIGN OF INTAKE MANIFOLD, THERE ARE MANY PLASTIC PARTS THAT CAN BREAK OFF AND ENTER THE ENGINE CAUSING IRREPAIRABLE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEED ARE UNIMAGINABLE.

REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT RESTRAINT BUCKLE WILL NO LONGER MAKE CONTACT WITH METAL SEAT BELT LATCH. DOES NOT INSERT COMPLETELY AND DOES NOT CLICK. MECHANISM APPEARS TO SUDDENLY NOT ALLOW FOR CONNECTION TO LOCK AND SECURE SAFETY BELT FOR A PASSENGER TO BE SECURED. NOT SAFE AND SECURE FOR USE AT THIS TIME. RESISTANCE HAS APPEARED WITH OTHER REAR SEAT BELTS AS WELL. THERE IS NO BLOCKAGE OR DISRUPTION OTHER THAN THE MECHANISM WITHIN THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ITSELF THAT DOES NOT CLICK OR STAY IN PLACE WHEN ATTACHED WITH THE METAL SEAT BELT LATCH. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN SEAT LATCH BECAME UNATTACHED AS MY CHILD WAS SECURED IN A SAFETY SEAT AND IT WAS NOTICES THAT THE LATCH BECAME UNFASTENED INVOLUNTARILY

ON 3/6/16 THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT GAS STATION FOR A FEW MINUTES. UPON MY RETURN TO THE CAR, THE CAR WOULDN'T START. CONTACTED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY TRIED IN VAIN TO START CAR. HAD TO TOW VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP. NEXT DAY, MECHANIC TESTED AND RAN DIAGNOSTICS - FOUND BAD EZL STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY. MILEAGE WAS 92950 AT TIME OF FAILURE. COST $1200. HAD TO WAIT A WEEK TO GET PARTS AND FOR REPAIR. RENTAL EXPENSE WAS AN ADDITIONAL $200. GRAND TOTAL - $1400.
TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED AN NHTSA RECALL LETTER IN DECEMBER, 2015 (#15V711). MY LOCAL MERCEDES BENZ DEALER FAILED/WAS UNABLE TO PERFORMANCE THE REQUIRED RECALL SERVICE WITHIN 60 DAYS OF THIS LETTER PURSUANT TO LAW 49 U.S.C. CHAPTER 301. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHEN MY VEHICLE WOULD BE FIXED, BUT WARNED ME THAT IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, I COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. IN MY VIEW, THIS IS UNSATISFACTORY. IF THESE AIRBAGS ARE THAT MUCH OF A RISK, THEN WHY ISN'T SOMETHING BEING DONE TO DISABLE THEM UNTIL THEY CAN BE FIXED? I GET THEY CAN PREVENT INJURY, BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY CAN CAUSE MORE INJURY/DEATH IN MINOR ACCIDENTS IF NOT REPAIRED. WHAT IS NHTSA DOING TO GET THE MANUFACTURER TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND PROVIDE THE INVENTORY NECESSARY TO GET THESE POTENTIALLY DEADLY AIRBAGS OUT OF PEOPLE'S CARS? THANK YOU.
