After approx 24,000 miles and 18 months, I was told all four tires needed to be replaced and were down to between 3/32nd and 2/32nd tread left on all four tires, despite regular rotations, alignment, and overall car maintenance. These were purchased at Mavis in East Brunswick, NJ in May, 2022 and we were notified of the tread wear after a regular maintenance appointment at a Mercedes Benz dealer. I notified Mavis and came in for them to measure tread depth, which was found to be in the unsafe range. Mavis is only offering me warranty coverage, based on mileage used, of a total of $360. Obviously, this is a manufacturer defect since all four tires wore so quickly and evenly. I was told there is a 40,000 mile warranty.

THIS MISINFORMATION COULD RESULT IN WHEELS WITH IMPROPER FIT BEING INSTALL POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN ABNORMAL HANDLING, DIMINISHED BRAKING PERFORMANCE AND IN EXTREME CASES POSSIBLE SEPARATION OF THE WHEEL FROM THE VEHICLE AT HIGH SPEED. ALL THESE WHEELS ARE AVAILABLE FROM NUMEROUS RESELLERS. PURCHASING AND INSTALLING THE HTTPS://MBPARTS.MBUSA.COM LISTED WHEELS COULD RESULT IN THE AFOREMENTIONED SAFETY ISSUES.
THE WHEELS ON MY TIRES WILL CRACK AT THE SLIGHTEST STRESS FROM THE ROAD. IT COULD BE A BUMP, A TINY POT HOLE, EVEN A STICK, AND THESE TIRES WILL BECOME DEFECTIVE, EITHER BY CRACKING, BECOMING FLAT OR THE WHEEL BECOMING COMPLETELY IMMOBLIZED. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT FOR HOURS BECAUSE OF THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES. I'VE COME INTO WORK UN-SHOWERED WITH NO SLEEP, BECAUSE I WAS STRANDED FOR SOMETIMES UP TO 12 HOURS BEFORE I WOULD GET HELP. ITS HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS. THERE IS NO WAY THESE TIRES PASSED EVEN BASIC INSPECTION. THEY ARE DANGER TO ANYONE USING THEM.
WHEEL LIPS ON THIS VEHICLE DEFORM WITH LITTLE PROVOCATION RESULTING IN RAPID AIR LOSS, LOSS OF HANDLING AND IN EXTREME CASES A CRASH. THE SHAPE OF THESE WHEELS DEVIATES FROM OTHER ALLOY WHEELS IN A WAY THAT PROMOTES THIS BEHAVIOR. THE CURVE OF THE RIM BARREL BETWEEN THE LIPS (ALSO KNOW AS THE BELL) IS MUCH SHALLOWER THAN MANY OTHER WHEELS. THE RESULT IS THAT THE ANGLE AT WHICH THE BARREL MEETS THE LIPS IS CLOSER TO A RIGHT ANGLE THAN COMMON. THE BARREL MEETING THE LIP AT AN ANGLE CLOSER TO PARALLEL WITH THE PAVEMENT GREATLY INCREASE THE RISK THAT SUDDEN DEFLATION COULD OCCUR RESULTING IN THE AFOREMENTIONED SAFETY ISSUES.
TIRE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. TREAD SEPARATED FROM SIDEWALL. MAYBE RELATED TO PIRELLI RECALL 16T018000. TIRE MANUFACTURED 05-17 AND DOT CE X2 T120 AND ECE HOMOLOGATION SYMBOL IS E4 0271937.
IN REGARD TO CONTINENTAL TIRES.THE WHEELS CRACK AT THE SLIGHTEST RESISTANCE. THE WHEELS CONSTANTLY NEED AIR PLACED IN THEM SOMETIMES TWICE A WEEK. IN A YEAR I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 12 TIRES DUE TO CRACKING AT THE SLIGHTEST IMPACT. THE WHEELS DO NOT LAST 50 MILES AFTER BEING FLAT THEY ARE DESTROYED THE MINUTE THEY HIT IMPACT. THESE ARE DANGEROUS TIRES FOR ANYONE AND THESE NEED TO BE RECALLED.
I HAVE LEASED A CAR FROM THE TORRANCE MBZ ON PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AND I HAVE 12K MILEAGE ON THIS CAR. LAST WEEK I NOTICED THAT MY FRONT TIRES TREADS ARE WEARING OUT AND THEY ARE BECOMING FLAT. THEY ARE ORIGINAL TIRES. ON 11/11/17 I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO ROTATE THEY SAID THEY CAN'T BECAUSE THEY 2 DIFFERENT SIZES SO THEY CANT ROTATE THEM THEY GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF 365.00 FOR EACH TIRES TO REPLACE. I ASKED THE ASSOCIATE OF THE DEALER WHY IS THIS HAPPENING I ONLY HAVE 12K MILES. I HAVE BEEN LEASING CARS SINCE 1997 AND NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH ANYTHING JUST NORMAL SERVICE NO TIRE PROBLEM AND THE SHOCKING THING IS THAT THE CAR HAS 12K MILES. THE MANUFACTURE FOR THE TIRES IS PIRELLI AND MY TIRE BRAND NAME IS P ZERO. I CAME HOME AND WENT TO THE PIRELLI THEY SAID IT'S NORMAL AND THEY GAVE ME A CLAIM NUMBER # [XXX] TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO GIVE ME DISCOUNT. IT WAS SHOCKING TO ME WHEN THEY SAID IT'S NORMAL. I DON'T THINK SO SPECIALLY WITH THE LOW MILEAGE IF I HAD OVER 50K THEN MAYBE. LIKE I SAID I HAVE HAD CARS BEFORE AND NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH TIRES NOR TO CHANGE ANYTHING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ C43 AMG EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL TIRES. THE FRONT TIRES WERE SIZE: 225/40/R19 93Y AND THE REAR TIRES WERE SIZE: 255/35/R19 96Y (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES WERE SO THIN THAT THE TIRES WOULD BLOW OUT WHILE DRIVING OVER SMALL POTHOLES. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED SIX TIRE FAILURES OVER THE LAST FIFTEEN MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF UNION (2585 US-22, UNION, NJ 07083, (908) 379-7200) AND THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER ACKNOWLEDGED THE TIRE FAILURES, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MERCEDES-BENZ MANUFACTURER ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURES, BUT BLAMED THE CONTACT FOR NOT PURCHASING THE EXTRA TIRE INSURANCE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THE MANUFACTURER INITIALLY OFFERED A DISCOUNT TO PURCHASE THE TIRE INSURANCE. THE CONTACT WAS LATER OFFERED TO END THE LEASE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED A DISCOUNT ON LEASING OR PURCHASING ANOTHER MERCEDES-BENZ VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WANTED THE TIRES AND RIMS REPLACED WITH STANDARD 18-INCH TIRES, BUT THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED BECAUSE THE COST WAS TOO HIGH. THE TIRE LINES, DOT NUMBERS, VIN, AND TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

ALSO, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER TIRES EXPERIENCED BLOWOUTS AND CRACKED RIMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF NANUET (99 NY-304, NANUET, NY 10954, (845) 624-1500) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE REPLACED ELEVEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,997.
5 MONTHS AFTER RECIEVEING THE CAR I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY FRONT PASSANGER SIDE TIRE AIR PRESUURE INDICATOR WENT OFF. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PUT A "FIX A FLAT" IN THE TIRE THINKING I RAN OVER A NAIL. THE TIRE WENT LOW AGAIN SO I DROVE TO THE LOCAL MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY MOUNTED THE CAR AND SHOWED ME THE "FIX A FLAT" GEL COMING OUT OF THE SIDE OF THE UNDAMAGED TIRE INDICATING A CRACKED WHEEL. THEY REMOVED THE TIRE AND INFACT I HAD A CRACKED WHEEL. 4 MONTHS LATER MY FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AIR PRESSURE INDICATOR WENT OFF WHERE THE MERDCEDES DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED MY SECOND CRACKED WHEEL IN LESS THAN A YEARS TIME!
