THE DOOR HANDLES BECOME IN STUCK POSITION AND DOES NOT CLOSE FULLY AND DOES NOT LATCH TO A LOCKED POSITION. ALSO AFTER REMOVING THE DRIVER SIDE CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65 STICKER INTERACTS WITH THE WINDOW CLOSING MECHANISM.
GAS CAP DOOR DOES NOT UNLOCK/OPEN INTERMITTENTLY. UNFORTUNATELY, IT'S HAPPENED AS MY LOW GAS WARNING LIGHT IS ON. THE FIRST INCIDENT AFTER TRYING COUNTLESS TIMES AT THE PUMP I LEFT BACK TO HOME AND THE NEXT MORNING THE DOOR WAS OPEN. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND MB SVC TECH COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS MORNING IT HAPPENED AGAIN,............TOOK ME ABOUT 20 MINS OF TRYING TO OPEN THE LID (SOMEWHAT LIKE A PUSH SPRING-LOADED TYPE FUNCTION) AND WHEN I GAVE UP AND PUT CAR INTO REVERSE IT OPENED WHILE IN MOTION. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I NEED GAS AND IT DOESN'T OPEN?
I PURCHASED A NEW GLA250 IN AUGUST 2015. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE I NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAD A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW RESULTING IN A SAFETY ISSUE. DEPENDING ON THE POSITION OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT THE LEFT SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO ELIMINATE THE LARGE BLIND SPOT. TALLER DRIVERS WHO REQUIRE THAT THE SEAT BE POSITIONED FURTHER BACK CANNOT ADJUST THE LEFT SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR TO ELIMINATE THE BLIND SPOT. I HAVE CONTACTED MBUSA AND THEY WILL NOT ADMIT THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW OR SAFETY ISSUE. THE MBUSA REPRESENTATIVE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SPEAK WITH ANYONE KNOWLEDGEABLE OF MIRROR OPERATION OR DESIGN. SHE TOLD ME THAT NOT ALL PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO ELIMINATE THE BLIND SPOT ON ALL CARS. THE SAFETY ISSUE RESULTING FROM THE INABILITY TO ELIMINATE THE BLIND SPOT IS EXASPERATED BY THE LARGE 'B' PILLAR WHICH GREATLY RESTRICTS PERIPHERAL VISION. MY THEORY, AND IT IS JUST A THEORY, IS THAT MERCEDES BENZ DESIGNED THE GLA (AND ALSO THE CLA) TO EUROPEAN MARKET MIRROR STANDARDS, ANTICIPATING THAT THE USA WOULD COME IN LINE BEFORE THE GLA WAS SOLD IN THE USA MARKET. IN EUROPE, CONVEX MIRRORS ARE ALLOWED FOR BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS AND FOR THE MOST PART ONLY CONVEX MIRRORS ARE USED.. THE NHTSA HAS BEEN CONSIDERING, BUT WITHHOLDING APPROVAL OF CONVEX LEFT SIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 5 YEARS. GENERAL MOTORS AND MERCEDES BENZ HAVE BEEN THE PRIMARY PETITIONER'S FOR THE APPROVAL. MERCEDES BENZ ANTICIPATING THE APPROVAL, DESIGNED THE GLA FOR CONVEX OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS. SINCE CONVEX LEFT SIDE MIRRORS WERE NOT APPROVED IN THE USA, MERCEDES BENZ INSTALLED A PLANAR MIRROR IN THE SAME LEFT SIDE MIRROR ENCLOSURE AND FRAME FOR USA MARKET CARS. THE PLANAR HAS A REDUCED FIELD OF VIEW AND RSULTS IN THE BLIND SPOT SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE HAD MAY CLOSE CALLS ON MULTIILANE HIGH SPEED HIGHWAYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 MERCEDES BENZ GLA250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS ACTIVATED NOTIFYING THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS CARBON MONOXIDE PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BECAME ILL AND HAD TROUBLE BREATHING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,400.
I HAVE LEASED GLA 250 MERCEDES BENZ WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, I FELT THE GAS PEDAL STOP WORKING AND THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING WITH SIGN OF "COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS" ON THE CARPOOL LANE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS HAPPENING EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE BEEN A MERCEDES BENZ CUSTOMER PAST 5 YEARS AND I NEVER HAD THIS ACCIDENT. I MIGHT HAVE AN ACCIDENT IF A CAR BEHIND ME DID NOT STOP ITS CAR. THIS IS A DEFINITELY MECHANICAL PROBLEM AND I WANT MERCEDES BENZ TO TAKE A RESPONSIBILITY AND SOLVE THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2015 MERCEDES BENZ GLA250. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN ABNORMAL BANGING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL IN MID-TURN CAUSING THE CONTACT TO GO OVER THE CURB. FOLLOWING THE FAILURE, THE TIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE FRACTURED AND ROLLED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE CONTACT IMPACTING THE CURB; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DROVE OVER THE CURB BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND AN UNKNOWN COMPONENT FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 420. .....UPDATED 12/15/15 *BF UPDATED 10/3/2017*CN
THERE WAS NO INCIDENT WITH THE CAR. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW AND WHEN DRIVING IT I DETECTED A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD WITH THE POSITIONS OF THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP ARE TOO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. FOR EXAMPLE IF YOUR ARE WEARING MEN'S TENNIS SHOES THEIR IS A HAZARD OF TOUCHING BOTH THE BRAKE AND GAS WHEN YOU WANT TO APPLY THE BRAKE YOU ALSO APPLY THE GAS. SIMPLY BECAUSE THE SHOES ARE TOO WIDE. THE DIMENSIONS ARE: THE BRAKE PEDAL IS 5" X 3" AND THE GAS PEDAL IS 2" WIDE AND 6" LONG. THE SEPARATION BETWEEN THE TWO PEDALS IS 2 INCHES. THE GAS PEDAL IS 1 INCH FROM THE CENTER WALL ON THE RIGHT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IS 10 INCHES FROM THE LEFT WALL. I DON'T IF THESE TOLERANCES ARE ACCEPTABLE ONLY DOT WOULD KNOW.
