THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CRITZ MERCEDES-BENZ OF SAVANNAH (7000 ABERCORN ST, SAVANNAH, GA 31406, PHONE: (912) 354-7000), BUT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 MERCEDES BENZ E COUPE ON OCTOBER 23, 2017 ON THE HIGHWAY, THE PANORAMA ROOF EXPLODED AND SHATTERED WITH NOTHING HITTING THE ROOF GLASS. IT WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY I NOR MY PASSENGER WERE HURT. I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE THAT SUCH INCIDENTS ARE HAPPENING QUITE OFTEN. WHAT IS BEING DONE BY THE DEALERSHIPS? THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT REPAIRS ARE NOT COVERED. I ONLY HAVE 31,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON ANY CAR, ESPECIALLY ON A $62,000 DOLLAR CAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED A VERY STRONG FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V557000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,440. *BF UPDATED 7/27/18*JB
THE STATED VEHICLE DEVELOPED STRONG GAS FUME SMELL AFTER FILL-UPS A FEW MONTHS BACK AT AROUND 36000 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY WE LEFT ON VACATION AND LATER TO OUR SECOND HOME AND MISSED GETTING TO THE DEALER BEFORE OUR 7 YEARS EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS OVER IN NOV. 2017. WE RETURNED HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND EVERYTIME WE FILL THE TANK THE SAME ODOR REAPPEARS MAKING IT NAUSEATING IN OUR GARAGE NOT TO MENTION PROBABLY DANGEROUS. I CALLED MBUSA AND WAS TOLD IT ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY (FUNNY MINE JUST EXPIRED) AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR AN ESTIMATE. THIS IS A VEHICLE THAT AFTER ITS 3RD YEAR HAS HARDLY BEEN USED DRIVING LESS THAN 7000 MILES IN THE LAST 4 YEARS, AND THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARGAE KEPT. MY SEARCH IN THE WEB HAS SHOWN A LOT OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH MERCEDES BENZ VEHICLES, HOWEVER MBUSA TOLD ME NOT MINE. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT I'M AFFRAID COULD CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE OR BODILY INJURY INCLUDING DEATH SHOULD A SPARK HAPPEN IN MY GARAGE. AGAIN FROM MY SEARCH IT APPEARS MERCEDES BENZ HAS HAD SIMILAR ISSUES AND PERHAPS HASN'T FOUND A COMPLETE SOLUTION.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
AIRMATIC FRONT AIR STRUT/SHOCK FAILURE. THE FRONT LEFT HAS FAILED ON MY CAR. IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND A SHORT WHILE AFTER AN ACCIDENT AND THE TWO MAY BE RELATED DUE TO THE BRAKING FORCES PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE FRONT STRUTS. THE FAILURE DID NOT HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CRASH. HOWEVER, ABOUT A MONTH LATER, OR SO, THE CAR LOWERED AND RED WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WITH A WARNING TO TO "PULL OVER AND STOP DRIVING IMMEDIATELY". I WAS DRIVING NORMALLY, BUT I HAD THE ACCIDENT IN LATE JUNE. ALSO, IN ADDITION THE THE TEMPORAL OCCURRENCE OF MY ACCIDENT, THE STRUTS APPEAR DEFECTIVE JUDGING BY COMPLAINTS ON MERCEDES FORUMS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR LOWERS, THE SUSPENSION HITS BOTTOM AND THE TIRES RUB ON THE FENDERS MAKING STEERING IMPOSSIBLE.
WE RECENTLY FILLED THE GAS TANK WITH FUEL AND NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR AS IF SOMEONE SPILLED GAS ON THE FLOOR IN THE GARAGE. I PROCEEDED TO INVESTIGATE WHERE THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM AROUND THE CAR AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS STRONGEST ON THE PASSENGER REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I CHECKED ON LINE AND NOTICED SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE FUEL TANK ON OTHER MERCEDES MODELS. I PROCEEDED TO REMOVE THE REAR SEAT AND ACCESS COVER TO THE FUEL TANK "SENDING UNIT OR FUEL PUMP" I'M NOT SURE OF THE CORRECT TERMINOLOGY, AND SURE ENOUGH THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF GAS ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK APPARATUS. I PROCEEDED TO CAREFULLY SOAK UP THE GAS WITH A RAG AND WHEN I DID I COULD SEE GAS SLOWLY SEEPING OUT OF THE CRACKS ON THE UNIT. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE MERCEDES DEALER TOMORROW. I NOTICED THE RECALL DID NOT COVER MY VEHICLE AS IT WAS BUILT IN JULY OF 2010 WHICH IS A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE 2011 E -CLASS EXTENDED RECALL. I HOPE THE DEALER WILL WORK WITH ME AS I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED PROFESSIONALLY AND PROMPTLY.
STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE NOTICEABLE IN THE INTERIOR AND AROUND THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED AFTER A RECENT REFUELING. THERE WAS NOT A GASOLINE SPILL WHEN REFUELING, NOR IS THERE ANY EVIDENCE OF A FUEL SPILL IN THE DRIVEWAY
I WAS PARKING IN FRONT OF THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED VERY FAST, JUMPED THE CURB AND RAN INTO THE WALL OF ONE OF THE EXAMINING ROOMS, INJURING A PATIENT.NO ONE IN THE CAR WAS INJURED BUT THE CAR WAS TOTALED. AIR BGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEMS BUT I MANAGED TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE HITTING ANOTHER CAR ON OUR CHURCH PARKING LOT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
AFTER FILLING MY CAR WITH GASOLINE, I NOTICED A STRONG SWELL OF GASOLINE IN MY GARAGE WHEN I PARKED MY CAR. I HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE IN MY GARAGE AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK IN THE PAST. I LEFT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE FOR AWHILE, BUT RETURNED TO A STRONGER SMELL OF GASOLINE. I TOOK THE CAR TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF BEVERLY HILLS IN CALIFORNIA FOR INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THE FUEL FILTER SENSOR WAS BAD, AND IT MAY BE COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURE'S FREE RECALL DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL FILTER SENSOR. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT HE HAD NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS WITH CARS NEEDING REPAIR RECENTLY FOR FUEL LEAK RELATED MALFUNCTIONS. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE HAD A CAR WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM AS MINE BEING WORKED ON THE SAME DAY I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR LATER CALLED ME AND STATED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE FREE RECALL FOR THE FUEL FILTER SENSOR, AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME $1,100.00 TO REPAIR THE CAR. THE SERVICE ADVISOR ALSO STATED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE FREE RECALL BECAUSE IT HAS A MEDAL GAS TANK INSTEAD OF A PLASTIC GAS TANK. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE WHETHER THE GAS TANK IS MEDAL OR PLASTIC IF THE PART IS DEFECTIVE? I CHECKED OUT THIS WEBSITE AND FOUND THAT SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED FOR THE SAME MALFUNCTION WITH THE FUEL FILTER SENSOR CAUSING GAS TO LEAK. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER OF MERCEDES-BENZ FOR THE PAST 12 YEARS (I'VE OWNED TWO MERCEDES-BENZ THUS FAR). I WILL THINK TWICE ABOUT PURCHASING ANOTHER MERCEDES-BENZ IN THE FUTURE IF THEY DO NOT HONOR THE FREE RECALL FOR MY CAR FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART.
"TAKATA RECALL" I'VE RECEIVED 2 RECALLS CONCERNING DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG, BUT NO SOLUTION CONCERNING REPAIRS TO MY VEHICLE IN A TIMELY MANNER. I SPENT $66000.00 ON THIS CAR AND IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND MY WIFE COMPLETELY FEARS DRIVING THIS CAR.
THE FRONT AIR SUSPENSION DROPS (BOTH SIDES AT THE SAME TIME) AT RANDOM TIMES -- SOMETIMES WHILE PARKED AND SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE SPENT $1,116.53 SO FAR AND HAVE REPLACED THE PRE-FUSE BOX, RELAY, AND VALVE UNIT. THE SAME PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE DEALER AND A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP ARE STUMPED AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. SEEMS LIKE A FREQUENT PROBLEM REPORTED ONLINE BY MANY OWNERS AND THAT MB SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS FAULTY DESIGN.
I RECEIVED TWO RECALL NOTICES AND CONTACTED THE NEAREST DEALER FOR REPLARING THE AIRBAGS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE PARTS HAD NOT BEEN ARRIVED. THEY ARE STILL NOT BEING REPAIRED/REPLACED.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS CAR AND FOUND OUT THE NEXT DAY REAR DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION IS VERY LOW I.E. 10% OF THE TIRE IS HIDING UNDER.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S ISSUE AND THE COST OF REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE PAID BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE IS A 2011 WITH 42,000 MILES AND NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. ## VIN PASSED ## MERCEDES BENZ E 350 CABRIOLET ##
THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHIFTS ITSELF FROM DRIVE TO PARK WHILE MOVING FORWARD WHILE DECELERATING AT SLOW SPEEDS (APPROXIMATELY UNDER 5 MPH.) THERE IS A SUDDEN JERK, AND EVERYONE / EVERYTHING IN THE CAR IS THROWN FORWARD AS THE VEHICLE JUMPS TO A DEAD STOP. THIS IS QUITE DANGEROUS AND FURTHER, CAN PROBABLY CAUSE RAPID DETERIORATION OF THE VEHICLE. THE ISSUE WAS FIRST PRESENTED IN JANUARY 2017 TO THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP IN RENO, NV WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT CHARGED ~$140 FOR THE ANALYSIS. THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECORD WITH MB OF SUCH AN ISSUE. THEY ALSO STATED THAT IF THE ISSUE WAS LATER FOUND AND REPAIRED, THE DEALERSHIP WOULD CREDIT THE EVALUATION COSTS. DURING A TRIP TO SALT LAKE CITY THIS WEEK THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT THE SLC MERCEDES DEALERSHIP (KEN GARFF). AT TODAY'S APPOINTMENT (3/29/17), THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY FOUND A DESCRIPTION OF THIS EXACT ISSUE IN THE MB DATABASE AND HAVE A RECOMMENDED FIX. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT FIX IS OVER $800 AND MERCEDES WILL NOT TAKE AND FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRING THIS, AS IT IS NOT A "RECALL." THIS IS MOST UPSETTING, AS I VIEW THE SUDDEN STOPPING AND TRANSMISSION CHANGE WHILE MOVING AS A SAFETY AND A LONGEVITY ISSUE FOR THE VEHICLE. I AM PLANNING ON TAKING THE VEHICLE IN THIS WEEK TO MB SLC AND HAVING THE PRESCRIBED REPAIRS COMPLETED. FURTHER, I BELIEVE THAT MERCEDES-BENZ SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE BOTH ETHICALLY AND FINANCIALLY FOR RESOLVING THIS ENGINEERING DEFECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR FAILED, BUT A REPAIR WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,914.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED, WHICH ALLOWED METAL FRAGMENTS INTO THE POWER STEERING HOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
I HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE FOR 2YEARS ABOUT THIS BAG RECALL, BUT EVERY TIME I SPEAK TO SOMEONE AT MERCEDES BENZ SOUTH THEY TELL ME ' THE PART NOT IN YET, THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN IT COMES IN.' I AM DOCUMENTING EVERY CONVERSATION THAT I HAVE WITH MERCEDES-BENZ BECAUSE IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING THAT CAR THEY WILL BE RESPONSIBLE.
I HAVE OWNED A 2003, 2005, 2009 AND NOW A 2011 E550 AND EVERY ONE OF THESE CARS CAME WITH THE SAME AIR SUSPENSION PROBLEM. ITS NOT FAIR FOR THE CONSUMERS AND ITS CERTAINLY NOT FAIR FOR ALL MERCEDES BENZ CUSTOMERS. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE NOTORIOUS AIR SUSPENSION PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY A LEAK IN THE AIR SHOCK. WHICHEVER AIR SHOCK LEAKS, THATS THE SIDE OF THE CAR THAT WILL LEAN DOWN. MY E550 IS LEANING ON THE FRONT SIDE AND BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE ARE BOTH AFFECTED. I WAS QUOTED 1600$ FOR EACH SHOCK FROM MB, WHICH IS OVER 3200$ WITH ALL THE TAXES. EVERY NIGHT WHEN I PARK THE CAR, I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING WITH THE CAR LEANING DOWN.

MERCEDES BENZ (MBZ) SENT LETTER DATED APRIL 2016 NOTIFYING ME OF DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL AND ANOTHER LETTER DATED AUGUST 2016 NOTIFYING ME OF FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL. AS YET I HAVE RECEIVED NO INFORMATION FROM MBZ AS TO WHEN A REPLACEMENT PART WILL EVEN BECOME AVAILABLE, LET ALONE READY FOR INSTALLATION. NEITHER OF THE SUBJECT AIRBAGS HAS DEPLOYED, BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED IN A TIMELY MATTER. IN THE MEANTIME, THIS VEHICLE HAS A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
I OWN THE CAR FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS. SO FAR I HAD TO REPLACE 7 TIRES, MERCEDES IS SAYING THAT THE PROBLEM ARE THE ROADS IN MICHIGAN. THESE TIRES ARE LOW PROFILE TIRES, I DO NOT FILL SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT MANY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I GUESS I WAS LUCKY TO BUY TIRE AND WHEEE INSURANCE. I AM 66 YEARS OLD AND HAD MANY CARS BUT I HAVE NOT HAVE THESE KINDE OF TIRE PROBLEMS.

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A SUN ROOF TECHNICIAN WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS DETACHED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A DIFFERENT MODEL VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.
ALL OF A SUDDEN, ONE DAY AFTER FILLING MY TANK, THERE'S NOW AN OVERWHELMING GAS SMELL PRESENT BOTH ~20 FEET AWAY FROM VEHICLE, AND INSIDE THE CAR. IT IS SO BAD, I HAVE TO LEAVE WINDOWS DOWN FOR 20-30 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING BEFORE THE ENVIRONMENT BECOMES TOLERABLE WITH THE WINDOWS UP. I HAVE READ THAT OTHER SIMILAR E350 MODELS HAVE THIS PROBLEM, BUT MY NEWER (2011) YEAR MODEL DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE ON THE EXTENDED WARRANTY REPAIR LIST. I BELIEVE I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE OTHERS HAVE DESCRIBED BECAUSE THE SMELL OF GAS IS VERY STRONG AFTER A TOP-OFF, AND GETS GRADUALLY BETTER, BECOMING MUCH LESS NOTICEABLE AS FUEL TANK LEVEL APPROACHES 1/2 TANK AND BELOW.
