TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES-BENZ E550. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V081000 (AIR BAGS) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION OVER THREE YEARS AGO. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH AN UNKNOWN DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2019. THE CONTACT ALSO SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2019. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
BRAKE LINE CORRODED LEAKING. FUEL LINE CCORRODED
ON TWO OCCASIONS (ONCE FROM A STOP AND ONCE WHILE MOVING AT 30 MPH) I HAVE PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY AND THE CAR HAS MALFUNCTIONED. BOTH TIMES THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL IMMEDIATELY BECAME DISABLED, THE ESC WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON, AND THE ENGINE STOPPED RESPONDING TO MY PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN FORWARD MOVEMENT BUT I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I COULD PRESS THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT THE RPM GAUGE NEEDLE MOVING. THERE WAS A REAL DANGER OF BEING HIT FROM BEHIND WHEN THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE I WAS SLOWING DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND RESTARTED IF AFTER ABOUT 6 SECONDS. ONCE I RESTARTED EVERYTHING RETURNED TO NORMAL. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR IN WHICH I LOSE THE ABILITY TO CONTROL SPEED BY PRESSING THE GAS TOO HARD. I AM TOLD IT IS SOME TYPE OF "SAFETY" FEATURE TO PROTECT THE TRANSMISSION ("LIMP HOME MODE") BUT I FIND IT TO BE VERY DANGEROUS. I WOULD RATHER DESTROY A TRANSMISSION AND HAVE THE CAR RESPOND TO MY COMMANDS THEN HAVE A COMPUTER DECIDE TO TURN OFF THE ACCELERATOR WHILE I AM DRIVING AND RISK A REAR END COLLISION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS ABNORMAL LEAKAGE UNDER THE VEHICLE AND AN ABNORMAL DIESEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL COOLER GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION : OCT. 29, 2015. MY CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. I OPENED THE TAILGATE, PUT SOMETHING INTO THE TRUNK, PUSHED THE ELECTRIC BUTTON AND THE TAILGATE CLOSED. I GOT INTO THE CAR, STARTED THE ENGINE, AND THE TAILGATE POPPED OPEN. I BACKED UP TO CLEAR THE GARAGE, STOPPED THE CAR ON MY FLAT DRIVEWAY, AND PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. I OPENED THE DOOR, WALKED AROUND TO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE, PUSHED THE BUTTON AGAIN, AND STOOD THERE WATCHING THE TAILGATE CLOSE, FOR GOOD MEASURE. WHEN IT LOCKED, THE CAR POPPED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE (NOT NEUTRAL); DROVE INTO ME AND PINNED ME AGAINST THE BUILDING FRACTURING MY LEFT LEG, UNTIL NEIGHBORS HEARD ME SCREAMING, RAN OUT, GOT INTO THE CAR, AND DROVE IT OFF ME. *TT CONSUMER STATED PERMANENT NERVE DAMAGE TO HIS LEFT FOOT UPDATED 7/13/18*JB *TR
I BOUGHT 2011 E550 BASE SEDAN LAST YEAR. IT HAD 25K MILES ON IT, AND 2 MONTHS LATER MY REAR SUSPENSION BEGAN LEAKING AND COST ME 2K IN REPAIRS. THE CAR WOULD LEAK OUT AIR FROM SUSPENSION OVER COUPLE HOURS. DEALER OR MY AFTERMARKET WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT'S NOT ON THE CONTRACT, BUT I'M NOT THE FIRST ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. WE SHOULDN'T BE BUYING NEW AIRBAG SUSPENSION ON A CAR THAT HAVEN'T HAD THE ORIGINAL TIRES REPLACED YET.
VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, A LOUD THUMP WAS HEARD STOPPING THE CAR. VEHICLE WAS PUT BACK INTO DRIVE WITH LOSS OF POWER ULTIMATELY LEADING TO NO POWER TO THE WHEELS. DIAGNOSTIC WORK LEAD TO SEVERAL CODES RELATING TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND FAILURE.
THE AIR SUSPENSION LEAKS
OIL COOLER LEAKING OIL. THIS IS A $2200.00 FIX. I SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING THIS ON A $50,000.00 AUTOMOBILE WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. MERCEDES BENZ MBUSA SHOULD BE FIXING THIS PROBLEM AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE. *TR
REAR MAIN ENGINE OIL SEAL ON THE MERCEDES-BENZ E350 BLUETEC FAIL AFTER 90,000 MILES, THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE ENGINE HAS NOT BEEN BROKEN IN YET AND IT'S LEAKING FROM THE REAR MAIN ENGINE OIL SEAL. THIS IS A $1300.00 PLUS FIX AND I SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING ON $50,000.00 AUTOMOBILE WITH LESS THAT 200,000 MILES ON IT. MERCEDES-BENZ SHOULD BE FIXING THIS PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE NOT MINE. *TR

ADBLUE HEATER/SENOR FOR THE EMISSION CONTROL ON THE 2011 MERCEDES-BENZ E350 BLUETEC FAIL AFTER 80,000 MILES THE PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM IS THAT IT STARTS A COUNT DOWN WHICH IS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH TO HOW MANY STARTS ARE LEFT BEFORE THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND WILL NOT START BECAUSE OF A HEATER/SENOR. SO HERE I AM HELD CAPTIVE BY THE NUMBER OF STARTS I HAVE LEFT TO GET THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. "TAKATA RECALL" I THINK IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 2 YEARS SINCE HEARING ABOUT A RECALL AND STILL HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED TO BRING THE CAR IN TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS REPLACED
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR WEEKS TO GET MY AIRBAGS REPLACED AND MERCEDES BENZ OF DELRAY FLORIDA KEEP TELLING ME THEY WILL LET ME KNOW, THEY ARE ONLY UP TO THE 2009. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, CAN YOU PLEASE HELP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES BENZ E350. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A CRACK FLANGE IN THE WHEEL CAUSED THE FAILURE. AS A RESULT, THE WHEEL WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER, WHO INSPECTED THE WHEELS AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEELS WERE ALSO CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REPLACEMENT WHEEL CRACKED, CAUSING THE TIRE TO BLOW OUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MERCEDES BENZ E350A. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DEER AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR THAT WAS DAMAGED DURING THE CRASH CAUSED THE AIR BAG WIRING TO MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 MERCEDES BENZ E350. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE CONTACT DETECTED A STRONG BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT AND THE FOUR PASSENGERS EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND CONTINUED TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE BECAME COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AS WELL AS AN INCIDENT REPORT BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

2011 MERCEDES BENZ E-350. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE RADIO AUTOMATICALLY TURNS ON WHEN GEAR SHIFT IS PLACED IN REVERSE MODE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER MANUALLY TURNING OFF THE RADIO, THEN PLACING THE GEAR SHIFT IN REVERSE MODE, THE RADIO AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED TO THE ON MODE WHICH DISTRACTED AND INTERFERED HIS CONCENTRATION AND AWARENESS WITH REGARD TO SAFE MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON LAYTON AVE AND 43RD STREET, AND OUT OF NOWHERE THE HEADRESTS OF THE VEHICLE EXPLODED, PUSHING MY NECK FORWARD. GRANTED I WENT OVER A HOLE NOT THAT BIG, BUT THE EXPLOSION WAS SO DRASTIC THAT IT PUSHED MY SEAT FORWARD AND MY NECK IS NOW SORE AND TENDER FROM THE IMPACT. I AM REALLY SCARE NOW THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE. I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WANT ME TO BRING THE CAR SO THE CAN RESET THE SYSTEM. I DON'T LIKE THAT IDEA, BECAUSE I GOT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND NOW THE VALUE REALLY CHANGE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN IT ANYMORE. I DON'T THINK MERCEDES IS WILLING TO TAKE THE CAR BACK EITHER. SHOULD I FOLLOW A LAWSUIT? I HAVE 5 MONTHS LEFT ON THIS LEASE BUT ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN WITH THIS CAR NOW SINCE ALREADY SHOWED SOME MALFUNCTION. ALL FOUR TIRES ON 2011 MERCEDES E550 HAVE TREAD SEPARATION. TREAD SEPARATION IS OCCURRING ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE TIRE AND IS UNKNOWN UNTIL THE TIRE BEGINS TO LOSE TIRE PRESSURE. TIRES ARE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MICHELIN RADIAL X TIRES. FAILURE BETWEEN 38,000-40,000 MILES. *TR
TIRE TREAD IS SEPARATING FROM TIRE ON BACK OF TIRE. ALL FOUR TIRES ON VEHICLE DISPLAY TREAD SEPARATION APPROXIMATELY HALF CIRCUMFERENCE OF TIRE IS AFFECTED. *TR
I WAS COMING OUT OF THE PARKING GARAGE. I PROCEEDED TO THE ENTRANCE TO GARAGE. THE STREET WAS NARROW FOR TWO CARS TO PASS BY. I MADE A RIGHT TURN FROM THE GARAGE EXIT TO THE NARROW STREET WITH 5 MPH SPEED. THERE WERE TWO CARS ABOUT 25 FEET AWAY ALREADY ON THAT STREET. THOSE TWO CARS WERE WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN ON MAIN STREET AT THE T JUNCTION. SUDDENLY MY CAR ACCELERATED TO 45 MPH APPROXIMATELY. I APPLIED THE BRAKE BUT THE BRAKE DID NOT EVEN SLOW DOWN THE CAR. WITH THE BRAKE NOT WORKING AND THE CAR ACCELERATING VERY FAST, THE CAR BECAME OUT OF CONTROL. I WAS APPROACHING THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME. IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME, I STEERED MY CAR TO THE LEFT OF THESE TWO CARS. I WENT FAST BEYOND THESE TWO CARS AND CAME ON THE MAIN ROAD. I NOTICED A CAR WAS COMING CLOSE FROM THE RIGHT SIDE WHICH WOULD HAVE HIT MY CAR. AT THE SAME TIME, I NOTICED THAT ON THE LANE ON LEFT SIDE THERE WAS NO CAR IN CLOSE VICINITY. TO PROTECT OTHER CARS HITTING MY CAR, I STEERED MY CAR TO THE LEFT LANE AND DROVE MY CAR OVER THE CURB. THE CAR WENT OVER THE CURB AND HIT A STREET ELECTRIC POLE. THE CURB AND THE POLE STOPPED THE CAR. THE MIDDLE SECTION OF THE FRONT OF MY CAR HIT THE POLE. THE IMPACT OF SUDDEN STOP DESTROYED THE FRONT MIDDLE PART OF THE CAR AND ALSO SHATTERED THE GLASS WINDSHIELD. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. UPON MY INSISTING, MERCEDES BENZ CHECKED THE CAR FOR SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND BRAKE FAILURE. THEY TOLD US THAT NOTHING WAS MALFUNCTIONING IN MY CAR. I DO NOT TRUST THEM: SO I SEEK YOUR HELP IN THIS INVESTIGATION FOR SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND BRAKE FAILURE AS THEY DID NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF CAR MALFUNCTIONING. I WAS TAKEN TO EMERGENCY FOR TREATMENT IN AN AMBULANCE. I MISSED SEVERAL DAYS FROM OFFICE. I AM STILL PHYSICALLY HURTING ON NECK/SHOULDERS AND CONTINUE TO TAKE PRESCRIPTION PAIN KILLERS; BUT LUCKY TO BE LIVING. *TR
BEGINNING SOMETIME IN MAY 2013, THE CAR BEGAN LEAKING FUMES INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN WHICH MADE ME VERY ILL. AFTER TAKING IT TO BOTH PARK PLACE MERCEDES HERE IN DALLAS, AND THEN MERCEDES BENZ OF PLANO, NEITHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE MATTER WITH PARK PLACE, I TOOK IT TO MERCEDES BENZ OF PLANO IN NOVEMBER 2013. THEY EVALUATED THE CAR, CHANGED THE BATTERY, AND GAVE THE CAR BACK TO ME IN DECEMBER OF 2013 FOR A WEEKEND, CLAIMING IT WAS FIXED. THE CAR, HOWEVER, WAS CONTINUING TO LEAK FUMES INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN, SICKENING ME AGAIN. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THEM FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED IT, BUT INSTEAD OF GETTING IN THE CAR, I SENT AN INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST TO TEST THE INSIDE AIR OF THE CAR, AFTER STARTING IT UP AND LETTING IT RUN FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THAT TEST FOUND UNUSUALLY LARGE CONCENTRATIONS OF ETHANOL, PROPENE, ISOPROPANOL, ACETONE, TOLUENE, HEXANE, AND CYCLOHEXANE -- CHEMICALS WHICH ALL APPEAR TO BE COMPONENTS OF GASOLINE. I AM STILL, AS OF THIS WRITING, IN OCTOBER 2014, WRANGLING WITH MERCEDES BENZ AND MERCEDES BENZ OF PLANO OVER REPAIR TO MY CAR. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A COPY OF THE REPORT OF THE AIR TEST FROM THE INTERIOR OF MY 2011 MERCEDES BENZ E550 COUPE. *TR
1.ENGINE MOUNTS & TRANSMISSION MOUNTS COLLAPSED. This is the second time in 10 years that this is happening. It happened at the two year mark & Mercedes Benz made me pay for half of it. Now 8 years later it is happening again. They are asking $2,130.00 to replace it. 2. OIL FILTER GASKET Found severe oil links from oil filter housing. they are asking $1189.13 to replace it. this also happened 8 years ago & they made me pay for half of it as well.
SUBJECT: FORWARDED FROM FMCSA REGARDING CONSUMERS COMPLAINT ABOUT MERCEDES BENZ TIRES. *SMD 2011 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONSUMER STATED HE PURCHASED THE SPORT PACKAGE VEHICLE, TWO YEARS AGO. HE HAD CHROME PUT ON THE WHEELS; THE ALLOY WHEELS WERE ORIGINAL. JUST CHROMED ON THE EXTERIOR. WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGED, THE TIRES DEFLATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, TO HAVE THE TIRES FILLED WITH NITROGEN. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, THE CONSUMER RAN OVER A POT HOLE AND TWO WHEELS AND TWO TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED. IN JUNE 2012, HIS WIFE RAN OVER A POT HOLE AND THE WHEEL HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE TIRE RE-MOUNTED, WHILE DRIVING HOME, THE RE-MOUNTED TIRE WENT FLAT, AND THE SPARE TIRE HAD TO BE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED ALL THE LOW PROFILE TIRES AS WELL AS THE WHEELS, WHICH WERE MORE SUBSTANTIAL. *JB

UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FAILURE WITH THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL MAY HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKING SYSTEM. AS THE FAILURE PROGRESSED, THE FRONT BRAKES OVERHEATED AND WARPED PREMATURELY DUE TO THE FRONT DISCS AND ROTORS. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND REPLACED THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE BRAKES HAVING A STRONG SENSATION, OVERHEATING, AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BE UNSTABLE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THIS VEHICLE FROM MERCEDES-BENZ, IN PARTICULAR 2011 E350 4MATIC WITH 18IN WHEELS DOES NOT MEET CERTAIN STANDARDS OF QUALITY AND DURABILITY AND POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. MY VEHICLE HAS ALL 4 WHEELS DENTED AND CRACKED FROM ROADS WITH NORMAL TO MINOR ROAD SURFACE ABNORMALITIES. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT TRIGGER THE DISPLAY WHEN IT SHOULD IT SEEMS TO ME THE SHIFT LEVER DOES THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD TRIGGER THE DASH DISPLAY IF IT IS IN PARK OR DRIVE OR REVERSE TO ENSURE IT IS IN THE PROPER GEAR. WHEN FINISHED SHE SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. SHE COULDN'T REACH OVER THE CONSOLE TO HIT THE BRAKE. SHE TRIED PUSHING THE PARK BUTTON AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE (72 HOURS OLD) STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A CAR BEHIND IT IN ANOTHER PARKING SPACE. FORTUNATELY, NOBODY WAS BEHIND THE CAR OR SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I SPOKE WITH MERCEDES CORPORATE WHO SAID THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 2006. THE SERVICE FOREMAN AT MY DEALER TOLD ME THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUST THE COMPUTER SO THAT IF THE CAR ISN'T IN PARK AND THE KEY IS TURNED OFF THE TRANSMISSION WOULD AUTOMATICALLY SENSE NO ONE IN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND THE VEHICLE WOULD LOCK INTO PARK. HE EXPLAINED WITH THE KEY OFF HAD SHE OPENED THE DOOR THE PARK WOULD HAVE AUTOMATICALLY HAPPENED. IT SEEMS THERE IS A SIMPLE FIX. IF THE VEHICLE IS BELOW 5 MPH AND SOMEONE HAS THE ENGINE RUNNING BUT OPENS THE DOOR TO GET OUT IT STILL SHOULD GO INTO PARK. THIS IS A SIMPLE PROGRAM FIX I WOULD GUESS. THERE SHOULD ALSO BE A WARNING BELL OR VOICE COMMAND ALERTING THE DRIVER THAT THE VEHICLE ISN'T IN PARK. IT CAME TOO LATE FOR MY WIFE TO KNOW HAD SHE OPENED THE DOOR THE CAR WOULD HAVE LOCKED INTO PARK WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF. THERE SHOULD BE A WARNING POSTED TO ALL NEW OWNERS AND A DEMONSTRATION OF HOW TO BEST UTILIZE THE EMERGENCY SYSTEM. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS KILLED BUT MY WIFE BEING TWISTED HEART HER BACK.
