TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 MERCEDES-BENZ ML350. WHILE DRIVING, A BURNING RUBBER ODOR AND SMOKE WERE PRESENT UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICLE AND, WITHIN MOMENTS, FLAMES COMPLETELY ENGULFED THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
TIRES ARE NEW 3500 MILES. NORMAL DRIVING AT 40 MPH LOUD NOISE COMING FROM TIRE AND BLEW OUT. THE STEEL BELT WAS FAULTY. TWO DAYS LATER LOUD NOISE COMING FROM ANOTHER NEW TIRE TIRE OUT OF ROUND DUE TO STEEL BELT FAILURE. NO ROAD HAZARD SO TIRE DEALER SAID EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NEW IT WILL BE ANOTHER 880.00. THE TIRES CLEARLY ARE FAULTY AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. DUNLOP 255/50R19 ALL 4 BOUGHT AND INSTALLED 2 FAILED 2 DAYS APART. VERY DANGEROUS BLOWOUT NO INJURIES. THESE TIRES ARE NOT RIGHT AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. I HAVE BEEN IN CAR BUSINESS FOR 45 YEARS AND KNOW WHAT THIS IS. NO RESULTS AND NEED CLOSURE QUICKLY !!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MERCEDES-BENZ OF MACON LOCATED AT 4781 RIVERSIDE DR, MACON, GA WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE NOT AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE MANUFACTURER OF THE AIRBAG HAS FILED A BANKRUPTCY CLAIM AND WE HAVE NO RESOLUTION TO FIX THIS AIRBAG EVER. THE CAR NOW IS UNSELLABLE AS ITS A DEATHTRAP AND NO ONE WILL BUY IT AND NO DEALER REALLY WANTS TO TAKE IT BACK SO IM STUCK WITH THIS CAR AND NEED TO GET IT REPLACED. WE NEED A SERIOUS REMEDY NOT ONLY FROM TAKATA BUT FROM THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER THAT PURCHASED THESE AIRBAGS WITHOUT FURTHER TESTING. I DEMAND A VEHICLE REPLACEMENT OR A COMPLETE BUY OUT OF THE CAR SO I CAN BE FREE OF THIS CONTRACT AND BE ABLE TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE THAT IS SAFE FOR MY FAMILY AND MYSELF.
TAKATA RECALL. MERCEDES WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS PROBLEM IN JANUARY 2016 BUT HAS STILL NOT PROVIDED A SOLUTION. CAR IS CURRENTLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED LETTER FROM DEALER TO SAY THAT THEY NOW HAVE INFORMATION AS TO THE RECALL OF THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG BUT HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING SINCE. ITS BEEN NEARLY A YEAR. I CALLED DEALER WHO SAYS THAT ITS JUST THAT THE BAG INFLATES TOO FAST AND IS NOT A BIG DEAL, BUT HE IS WRONG ABOUT THE DEFECT. THE DEFECT IS THAT THE BAG PRODUCES SHRAPNEL WHEN INFLATED THAT CAN AND HAS CAUSED DEATHS OF DRIVERS.
TAKATA RECALL - IN JUNE 2016 I RECEIVED THE MERCEDES BENZ RECALL LETTER. IT INCLUDES THE LANGUAGE "POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH". WE VISITED THE DEALER TO ASK FOR RENTAL CAR REIMBURSEMENT. THE GENERAL MANAGER SAID NO. WE CALLED MB AND THEY SAID NO. THEY CALLED IT A "PRECAUTIONARY RECALL, NO NEED TO STOP DRIVING". A LETTER THAT INCLUDES LANGUAGE THAT THEIR CAR COULD CAUSE MY DEATH NEEDS MORE THAN CAUTION. I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER TODAY AND WITH MB AND STILL NO ESTIMATE OF WHEN REPLACEMENT BAGS WILL BE AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL: IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE RECEIVING NEWS THAT MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG AND I AM STILL BEING TOLD BY MERCEDES BENZ USA THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX MY CAR AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE GETTING THEM. NOW, A YEAR IS AN AWFUL LONG TIME TO DRIVE A CAR WITH AN AIR BAG THAT COULD EXPLODE AND KILL ME. THIS IS NOT OKAY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT YOUR ADMINISTRATION IS IN CHARGE OF PRIORITIZING WHICH VEHICLES GET REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT DATA YOU ARE USING TO DETERMINE WHO GETS TO LIVE AND WHO WILL BE COLLATERAL DAMAGE??? MY NEPHEWS WHO BOTH DRIVE FORD MUSTANGS HAVE HAD THEIR AIRBAGS REPLACED AGES AGO - WHY AM I STILL BEING TOLD THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT DATE IN SIGHT FOR ME?????? I WANT MY REPLACEMENT AIRBAG AND I WANT IT NOW, I HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH!
2 ISSUES: RIGHT SIDE REAR SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT. SECOND; AFTER A WEEK IN THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX AN A/C UNIT THAT CUTS OUT REPEATEDLY, AND THE ASSURANCES THAT THE NEW HARNESS THEY INSTALLED WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM, IT HASN'T. EVEN THOUGH THE OUTSIDE TEMPS ARE NOT INTO TRIPLE DIGITS, IT WILL STOP COOLING AND SLOWLY THE AIR TEMP RISES. I THOUGHT THAT BEING IN SLOW TRAFFIC WAS THE REASON, BUT ON THE OPEN ROAD AND AN OAT OF 74, IT DID IT AGSIN.

TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE BEEN CORRESPONDING WITH THE LOCAL DEALER (FRESNO CALIFORNIA) AND THE NATIONAL OFFICE SINCE I RECEIVED THE NOTICE IN MAY 2016. WE HAVE BEEN VERY RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR OF "SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH" AS STATED IN THE NOTICE. WHEN I CALL THE LOCAL DEALER, THEY SAY WE HAVE TO GO TO HEADQUARTERS AND DENY ANY RESPONSIBILITY--VERY UNHELPFUL. ALSO NOTE THAT THIS CAR EXPERIENCED A FAULTY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO (BEFORE THE RECALL) AND MERCEDES FIXED THE PROBLEM AT NO CHARGE. MY DAUGHTER WAS INJURED IN THE INCIDENT, BUT HER INJURIES DID NOT SURFACE UNTIL AFTER MERCEDES HAD US SIGN A SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT. HER HEARING AND EQUILIBRIUM HAS BEEN IMPAIRED FROM THE EXPLOSION OF THE AIRBAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEN SHE BUMPED A CURB AT A SLOW SPEED AND THEY DEPLOYED. ALL OF THAT INFORMATION WOULD BE IN MERCEDES FILES--WE HAVE COPIES. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY LEGAL COUNSEL THAT WE SHOULD PURSUE AN ACTION AGAINST MBUSA AND OUR LOCAL DEALER--MAYBE THIS IS WHY THEY (MERCEDES) DON'T WANT TO TALK TO US OR HELP US. WE HAVE HAD TO RENT, BORROW, OR GO WITHOUT ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION BECAUSE WE (MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER) ARE FEARFUL OF ANOTHER IMPROPER (OR PROPER) DEPLOYMENT. SINCE I GOT MY CAR ML 350 2009 HAVE TO MANY PROBLEMS LIKE CHANGING TIRES EVERY 3 MOUNTHS PLUS ALIGNMENT NEVER DONE CORRECTLY , I HAVE CONTACTED FROM SOMEHOW TO CHANGE MY AIRBAGS AND AFTER I COMPLETED ALL INFORMATION BUT THEY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME . PLUS I HAVE SERIES ELCTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE WINDOW ,BACKUP CAMERA,DOOR PANELS AND CROSS CONTROL IS NOT WORKING AT ALL WHEN I USE IT FOR A LONG TRIP OR DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY SPECIALS WHEN IS THERE FOGG AT THE STREET . AND THE LIGHT I CHANGED IT TO MANY TIME BUT STILL NEVER GOT STRONG ENOUGH TO SEE IN THE FRONT OF ME WHILE I AM DRIVING . I WISHED I NEVER HAVE MERCEDES AND I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN.
I WAS SOLD THIS VEHICLE ON FEBRUARY 27, 2016, AFTER THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RELEASED. THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION A RECALL, AND I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF A RECALL UNTIL SEARCHING TODAY. SHOULDN'T THE DEALERSHIP HAVE INFORMED ME OF THE RECALL? DO THEY HAVE ANY CULPABILITY FOR NOT SHARING THIS INFORMATION.

REAR LEFT SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT.
TAKATA RECALL....I HAVE SUBMITTED MY CLAIM WHEN I FIRST RECEIVED THE RECALL IN 2016 TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN A CHERRY HILL NJ AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS FOR ME. I JUST RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS FILING FOR BANKRUPTCY AND MY CAR IS STILL WITHOUT SAFE AIRBAGS. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THEM ON MY OWN, THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE A COVERED REPAIR.I RELY ON MY VEHICLE EVERYDAY.
THE REAR SEAT BELTS DO NOT FIT SNUGLY AND THEY WILL NOT RETRACT AFTER USAGE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THEY ARE INOPERABLE. BACK SEAT PASSENGERS ARE AT RISK DURING DRIVING.
ENGINE LIGHT CODE RELATED TO DEFECTIVE HEATER ELEMENT IN BLUETEC FLUID TANK. MERCEDES STATES IT IS AN EMISSIONS SYSTEM BUT IS NOT COVERED UNDER EMISSIONS WARRANTY. NO CHANGE IN VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, 35,000 MILES.
OIL LEAKING FROM COIL COOLER, 1-2OZ OVERNIGHT ON GROUND + OIL LOSS AT SPEED.
WEEK OF JUNE 27TH, I STARTED TO NOTE GAS FUMES COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. GIVEN, I HAD RECENTLY FILLED UP ON GAS TANK, THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO "BURN OFF"... ON JULY 2ND, TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND THEY NOTED THAT THEY COULD DETECT GAS FUMES COMING FROM UNDER MY VEHICLE AND ADVISED TO TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP IN ASAP... SAME DAY, TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND AFTER A FULL INSPECTION OF MY VEHICLE, THEY ADVISED ME THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS BRAKING DOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ADVISED THIS WAS SO INCREDIBLY RARE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. DRIVING MY VEHICLE WAS A HAZARD AND COULD HAVE EXPLODED. GIVEN THIS IS MY MAIN VEHICLE FOR ME AND MY SON, THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME!!! AND NOTHING SHOULD BE BRAKING DOWN AT 70,000 MILES... MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER IT AND IT COST ME $2000 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. AGAIN, NO ONE CAN ADVISE HOW THIS OCCURRED BUT NO ONE I HAVE SPOKEN TO CAN GIVE ME A REASON BUT NOTHING SHOULD BE DETERIORATING ON A LUXURY VEHICLE.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2009 MERCEDES BENZ ML63, AT APPROX 65 MPH, ON THE 101 LOOP IN SCOTTSDALE AZ, SHE EXPERIENCED COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON HER. SHE LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TWO LANES TO HER RIGHT TO AN EXIT RAMP. THE CAR CAME TO REST AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RAMP W/ NO ENGINE POWER WHATSOEVER. MY WIFE WAS PETRIFIED. THE CAR WAS TOWED FIRST TO AAA AND THEN TO SCHUMACHER EUROPEAN, LTD (A MERCEDES-BENZ DEALERSHIP) IN PHOENIX, AZ. ACCORDING TO SCHUMACHER EUROPEAN, LTD THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET DUE TO BROKEN HEAD BOLTS. THE REPAIR ESTIMATE WE RECEIVED FROM SCHUMACHER WAS BETWEEN $6,000 - $25,000 DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE DONE TO THE ENGINE. MERCEDES-BENZ USA HAS HAD A KNOWN ISSUE W/ DEFECTIVE HEAD BOLTS. THEY ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS BACK IN 2011 ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. ALSO IN 2011 A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS BROUGHT AGAINST MERCEDES-BENZ USA CLAIMING THEY WERE AWARE OF FAULTY ENGINE DEFECTS, AND WERE DOING NOTHING ABOUT THEM TO PROTECT CONSUMERS. MY WIFE & I WERE COMPLETELY UNAWARE THAT OUR SUV HAD AN ISSUE W/ DEFECTIVE HEAD BOLTS. AND WHEN THESE DEFECTIVE HEAD BOLTS BREAK, NOT ONLY CAN THEY CAUSE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE BUT THEY CAN CAUSE A MAJOR PUBLIC SAFETY PROBLEM. WE THOUGHT WE OWNED A SAFE CAR. BUT THE TRUTH IS OUR SAFETY, AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF OUR DAUGHTER (NOW 5 YRS OLD), HAS BEEN IN JEOPARDY SINCE WE STARTED DRIVING THIS SUV. HOW MANY OTHER MERCEDES-BENZ DRIVERS ARE DRIVING AROUND THIS COUNTRY IN CARS & SUV'S THEY THINK ARE SAFE BUT ACTUALLY HAVE DEFECTIVE ENGINES THAT CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME? WHEEL SPEED SENSOR (L/F) FAILED ON HIGHWAY AT 50MPH. ALL BRAKES LOCKED UP AND CAR SKIDDED TO A HALT! LUCKILY NO TRAFFIC OR SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO A LOCAL MB DEALER. MERCEDES IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE ... THEY HAVE UPDATED THESE SENSORS BUT ARE NOT REPLACING THEM UNDER WARRANTY (AND OF COURSE THEY ARE GETTING ABOUT $450 PER SENSOR)! MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! MERCEDES SHOULD RECALL AND REPLACE THESE SENSORS!

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS AN ORANGE LEAK INSIDE, DEALER SAID THAT THEY NEVER SAW SOMEHING LIKE IT BEFORE. NEED TO BE REPLACED, THE CHARGE IS ABOUT $2000. *TR
I HAD A PASSENGER IN THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE AND SHE TOLD ME THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT WORK. THE REAR PASSENGER BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT. WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE WE CHECKED BOTH SIDES AND NEITHER REAR BELTS ARE WORKING. THEY ARE ALL OUT OF THE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM AND LOCKED. THEY WILL NOT RETRACT AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE USED. I CONTACTED MB USA TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SEAT BELTS AFTER I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES. THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL AND THEY REFERRED ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I AM ABOUT TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP, BUT I SUSPECT THAT WHAT I READ ONLINE IS TRUE. THEY ARE PASSING ON A DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT TO THE CONSUMER TO REPAIR JUST AS I READ ONLINE. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT IN THE HOPE THAT YOU WILL INVESTIGATE MB FOR THIS ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ ML320. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AUTO WAS IN FORWARD AN AT COMPLETE STOP AND DRIVER PLACED IN PARK BUT LEFT ENGINE RUNNING AND EXITED THE CAR. CAR WENT INTO REVERSE AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE. DRIVER WAS KNOCKED TO THE GROUND AND RUN OVER BY CAR. CAR WAS STOPPED WHEN IT RAN INTO BUILDING STRUCTURE. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WARNING WITH CODE #20BE1B. REPAIR INDICATES NEED OF DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) HEATER REPAIR KIT. DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID SYSTEM IS PART OF EMISSIONS SYSTEM. MB DEALERSHIP SAYS NO WARRANTY FOR REPAIR. INTERNET RESEARCH WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH DEF SYSTEM AROUND 50,000 MILES. *TR

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REMOVED SOME OF THE FUEL BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
REAR SEATBELT WILL NOT RETRACT. MILEAGE IS PAST WARRANTY COVERAGE & FIX IS VERY PRICEY (APPROX $800). THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH PASSENGERS, MOSTLY CHILDREN, IN THE BACK. I GOOGLED THIS & IT SEEMS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS THIS ISSUE. IT IS WIDE SPREAD & A FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER. MERCEDES SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS FREE OF CHARGE! PLEASE HELP. *TR
CLEAR HEADLIGHT LENS COVER GETS WET ON INSIDE EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS BEEN NO RAIN CAUSING LIGHT FROM HEADLAMP TO BE DIFFUSED AND RESTRICTING REACH OF BEAM. MANUFACTURER SAYS LEAVE HEADLIGHT ON DISSIPATE MOISTURE, HOWEVER SEEMS UNSAFE WHILE MOISTURE PRESENT. THE DEALER REFUSED TO CONTACT MERCEDES BENZ. *TR
AS I WAS GETTING READY TO SHIFT THE GEAR LEVER TO DRIVE THE LEVER SHEARED OFF AND I WAS UNABLE TO HAVE CONTROL OF SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION TO ANY OTHER POSITION SUCH AS (P/N/R). I STOP THE CAR AS A SAFETY CONCERN AND LOOKED AT THE BROKEN GEAR SHIFT LEVER AND IT APPEAR TO BE SHEARED OFF THE WEAKEST AREA OF THE LEVER OR WHERE THE SHIFTING LOAD TAKES PLACE. CAR STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT DEALER REFUSED TO FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY WITH THE EXCUSE EXCESSIVE FORCE APPLIED TO SHIFT WHICH CAUSE THE LEVER TO BRAKE. I AM SURE THE IS A MATERIAL DEFECTS AND FATIGUE. I HAVE THE BAD PART ON HAND AND WHICH IF I CAN SEND IT FOR LAB TEST TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE AND MAY BE THIS WILL ALERT FOR A RECALL. *TR
