JAN. 2016-I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAYING THERE IS A RECALL 15S39 AND WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FORD WILL LET ME KNOW AND THE PART WILL BE REPLACED. APRIL 2017 _ I RECEIVE A LETTER FROM FORD SAYING PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. CALLED FLOOD FORD AND LINCOLN IN NARRAGANSETT RI WAS TOLD I HAD TO FIRST HAVE THEM DETERMINE IF A PART WAS NEEDED, THEN I WOULD HAVE TO RETURN TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED IF NEEDED. WHEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN TO HAVE IT REVIEWED THE VEHICLE DID NOT ENTER THE SERVICE AREA AT ALL. I WAS ASKED TO GO OUTSIDE INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE CLERK FROM THE COUNTER FROM SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I WAS TOLD TO GET INTO MY CAR --START IT -- AND APPLY THE BRAKE. WE WERE IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP AND THE VEHICLE IN PARK ALTHOUGH IGNITION WAS ON. I APPLIED THE BRAKE AS ASKED, THEN I WAS TOLD, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE FINE I DON'T NEED THE PART FOR THE RECALL. I WAS ALL SET AND OK TO LEAVE. THE RECALL 15S39 HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BRAKES SO CLEARLY THIS DEALERSHIP DOES NOT SERVICE THEIR CUSTOMERS CORRECTLY. I HAD BOTH LETTERS FROM JAN 2016 AND APRIL 2017 THAT SHOWED IT WAS FOR THE HEADLIGHTS. I'M FILING A COMPLAINT THAT THIS DEALERSHIP DID NOT PERFORM THE WORK THEY SHOULD HAVE. HOW CAN I GET THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM) REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE? THE LCM IS THE PART FOR THE 15S39 RECALL. WHEN THERE IS A RECALL FOR A PART, IS THE MANUFACTURER REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE PART OR CAN THEY SAY IT IS NOT NEEDED? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
LOWER STEERING COLUMN CORROSION CAUSING STIFFNESS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. MERCURY DOES NOT LIST THIS MODEL YEAR AS A RECALL. PREVIOUSL HAD TO REPLACE SAME PART ON 2003 CROWN VICTORIA (SAME PART SISTER MODEL) SAME STORY THAT IT WASN'T ON RECALL LIST FOR MUCH NEWER CARS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V861000(EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
HEADLIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT OUT AND NO LONGER WORK.. IF HIGHBEAM SWITCH IS HELD LIGHTS WORK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V861000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE WHEN THE RECALL NOTIFICATION LETTER WAS RECEIVED, BUT IT WAS OVER A YEAR AGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED OR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,800. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE HEADLIGHTS INADVERTENTLY TURNED OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
THIS CAR HAS HAD A RECALL FOR LIGHTING SINCE 12/21/15. THE LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IS UNABLE TO SAY WHEN THE RECALL PARTS MAY BECOME AVAILABLE. I THINK THEY SHOULD DO SOMETHING SINCE THIS HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR ON RECALL. *TR
MY CAR IS COVERED BY A RECALL FOR LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE CONTROLLING THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS RECALL WAS ISSUED DECEMBER 21, 2015. I JUST SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND I WAS INFORMED THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT MADE REPAIR PARTS AVAILABLE AS OF THIS TIME. SINCE THIS RECALL COVERS A COMPONENT THAT WHEN IT FAILS CAN RENDER THE HEADLIGHTS INOPERABLE I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHY FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS BEING ALLOWED TO NOT MAKE A REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL AVAILABLE?
A RECALL WAS ISSUED REGARDING HEADLIGHTS NOT FUNCTIONING FOR THIS CAR LAST YEAR. I OWN 2 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS, BOTH HAVE HEADLIGHTS THAT GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY AND THE LOCAL DEALER MAINTAINS THAT THE PARTS STILL AREN'T AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL SERVICE. SO THE END RESULT IS I HAVE 2 CARS I CAN ONLY DRIVE DURING DAYLIGHT WITH NO PRECIPITATION OR FOG IN THE FORECAST. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYS THAT WE COULD PAY PRIVATELY TO HAVE IT FIXED AND THEN MAYBE GET REIMBURSED BY FORD. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE DOING MORE TO COMPLETE THIS RECALL SERVICE.
WHILE DRIVING STEERING LOCKED UP AND BECAME HARD TO STEER, LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND NOT MY WIFE, SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STEER CAR. MECHANIC LOOKED AT AND SAID IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. LOOKS LIKE STEERING SHAFT. MECHANIC SAID HE'S SEEN THIS IN FORD AND MERCURY, SAID THEY HAVE HAD RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM. CALLED FORD, SAID NO RECALL FOR 2004, YET 2005 AND 2006 HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR STEERING SHAFT PROBLEMS. *TR
SAFETY RECALL RECEIVED JANUARY 2016. DEFECTIVE LIGHTING MODULE. MY HEADLIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. FORD MOTOR COMPANY INFORMS MY FORD DEALER THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. THE SAME HAS HAPPENED TO MY SON'S 2005 CROWN VICTORIA WHO ALSO RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL IN JANUARY 2016 AND HIS FORD DEALER WAS TOLD SAME THING. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE HAD MORE PROBLEMS WITH MY 2004 GRAND MARQUIS, THE LIGHTS DON'T WORK, HEADLIGHTS GO OFF WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, AIRBAGS DON'T WORK, ELECTRICAL, SEATS, STEERING, BRAKES, ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL, CATALYTIC CONVERTOR KEEPS GOING OUT, ALSO ENGINE PROBLEMS, AMONG MANY OTHER THINGS. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, WHERE MY STEERING DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY AND I WAS HIT BY SOMEONE, NOT MY FAULT, BUT MY CAR ENDED UP SPINNING SO BAD THAT I HIT MY HEAD OFF OF THE STEERING AND RECEIVED INJURIES,,PARTY IN OTHER CAR WAS NOT INJURED. I WAS ALSO DRIVING AT NIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY LIGHTS WENT OUT, I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND.. BUT ALSO, BECAUSE OF MY HEADLIGHTS AND STEERING THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING, AIR BAGS, NEVER DEPLOY... RECEIVED SOME SERIOUS INJURIES, BANGED MY KNEW ALSO VERY BADLY.
MY HEADLIGHTS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY, DON'T KNOW WHEN IT GOING TO HAPPEN. IT CAUSES A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND ANY DRIVER AROUND ME ON THE ROAD. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENING. FORD SENT ME NOTICE OF RECALL TWICE IN TWO YEARS BUT, NO PARTS AVAILABLE TILL THEY CALL. DO I HAVE TO CRASH BEFORE THEY GET THE PARTS OR THEY WAITING FOR MY CAR TO DIE BEFORE IT IS FIXED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS NO COOLANT IN THE VEHICLE. THE COOLANT WAS REPLENISHED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY WIFE AND 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WERE STRUCK BY A 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS ON 04/21/16. THEY WERE DRIVING IN EASTBOUND TRAFFIC IN A 2008 NISSAN ULTIMA AND THE DRIVER OF THE MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS WAS DRIVING IN WESTBOUND TRAFFIC. THE DRIVER OF THE GRAND MARQUIS LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE OF MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER. THE DRIVER DIED AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT. MY WIFE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO HER RIGHT LEG AND MY DAUGHTER SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL TRAUMA TO HER SKULL, NECK, BACK, SPINAL CORD, THROAT, AND INTESTINES. MY DAUGHTER IS PARALYZED ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND THE DOCTORS SAY HER PROGNOSIS IS UNKNOWN. SHE HAS A TRACHEOSTOMY AND IS UNABLE TO SPEAK. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING WITH 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS VEHICLES. FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE STEERING COLUMN FOR 2005 THROUGH 2011 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS CARS. THE RECALL WAS DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION OF THE STEERING COLUMN, WHICH LEADS TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. FORD HAS NOT RECALLED 2003 AND 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS DESPITE THESE VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME STEERING COLUMN. THE MEMPHIS POLICE DETECTIVE CLOSED THE CASE LAST WEEK AND THIS WAS BEFORE I DISCOVERED THE STEERING COLUMN RECALL. I HAVE CALLED THE DETECTIVE MULTIPLE TIMES, AND HE IS NOT RETURNING MY CALLS. THIS MATTER NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE SWIRLED TO THE LEFT. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BURN INJURIES TO THE ARM DUE TO THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
ON 7-17-13 THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE BROKE ON MY CAR. I REPAIRED MY CAR WITH THE PURCHASED CARDONE PART #73-71002 FOR $343.14 FROM AUTOZONE. I LATER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD REGARDING THE CSP 14N01. I SUBMITTED MY RECEIPT TO THE DEALER ON 4-28-14 AND RECEIVED REIMBURSEMENT. ON 8-29-14 THE PART BROKE AGAIN ON MY CAR. AUTOZONE/CARDONE WARRANTY EXPIRED 7-17-14. I REPAIRED MY CAR WITH THE PURCHASED CARDONE PART #73-71002 FOR $343.14 AGAIN, THIS TIME FROM OREILYS. I CALLED FORD FOR A REIMBURSEMENT. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A ONE TIME REIMBURSEMENT AND TO CONTACT CARDONE OR NHTSA. IN JAN 2016, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD REGARDING SRN 15S39/NHTSA RECALL 15V-861. AT THAT TIME WE WERE NOT EXPERIENCE LOSS OF LIGHTS. NOW ON 3-24-16, I WAS PULLED OVER AT NIGHT BY THE POLICE FOR NO LIGHTS, THE PART BROKE AGAIN. OREILYS/CARDONE WARRANTY EXPIRED 8-29-15. OREILYS DID NOT REIMBURSE ME. I CONTACTED CARDONE THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT OREILYS. SO NOW I AM CONTACTING NHTSA.. THIS CARDONE PART, PART #73-71002 IS DEFECTIVE OBVIOUSLY. AS OF TODAY, THE PART IS STILL BEING SOLD AT BOTH AUTOZONE AND OREILYS. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY HEADLIGHTS. WE ARE NOT GOING TO BUY THE SAME $343.14 DEFECTIVE PART A THIRD TIME. PLEASE RECALL THE CARDONE PART 73-71002. HOW DO I FIX MY CAR? THERE ARE NO WORKING PARTS TO BUY? BOTH RECEIPTS ARE ATTACHED.
POWER STEERING HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY MORE DIFFICULT. CAR IS LOCATED IN NEW YORK STATE AND HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILE. COMPLAINT IS SIMILAR TO OTHER 2004 ISSUES INDICATED AT THIS SITE AND SAME AS 2005 - 2011 MERCURY RECALL ISSUE

POWER STEERING LOST. VEHICLE VERY HARD TO STEER AROUND CORNERS. ADDED POWER STEERING FLUID TO MIN/MAX LINE. THOUGHT PROBLEM WAS SOLVED BUT STEERING VERY TIGHT AND HARD TO STEER WITHIN 5 MILES. STEERING ODD, NOT NORMAL. GROANING NOISE ACCOMPANIED STEERING ISSUE. WAS DRIVING ON STREET, MEDIUM TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT CORRODED, WHICH RESULTED IN DIFFICULTY STEERING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT BINDING CAUSED THE STEERING SHAFT TO BIND AND THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V385000 (STEERING), BUT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.

I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY FORD IS HANDLING THIS RECALL NOTICE 15S39/NHTSA. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE. WE WHERE INSTRUCTED, VIA LETTER FROM THE FORD COMPANY, TO ONLY NOTIFY MY DEALER IF I AM EXPERIENCING THIS HEADLIGHT FAILURE. WELL, I DID AND IT SEEMS THE FORD DEALERSHIP DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL AND NOT ONLY THAT BUT COULD DO NOTHING FOR ME. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION AND IT SEEMS THEY DID NOT TAKE ME SERIOUSLY.

WHILE DRIVING, THE VISIBILITY WIPERS ENGAGED WITH OUT BEING TURNED ON BY ME. THE CLEANER SPRAYED THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OUT FROM RESERVOIR WITH OUT ME PRESSING THE BUTTON. ON DECEMBER 23, 2015 I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS THROUGH AN INTERSECTION IN HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. I HAD JUST RECEIVED A GREEN LIGHT AND WAS PROCEEDING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT. THE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WAS SEVERE. THE AT FAULT DRIVER'S INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARED MY VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. MY VEHICLE'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT AND SHOULDER BELTS AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION. I WAS EXAMINED AT A NEARBY EMERGENCY ROOM. THEY SAID "NO SERIOUS INJURY" BUT MY ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON SAID I HAVE A SEPARATION OF MY LEFT SHOULDER.

NOT SURE WHY THEY DON'T RECALL 2003 AND 2004. THEY ARE THE SAME GENERATION. THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND IMMEDIATELY AFTER PARKED 2 DAYS. FORTUNATELY IT IS NOT ON HIGHWAY. CAN'T IMAGE WHAT SAFETY PROBLEM IT WILL CAUSE.

I WAS DRIVING IN A SMALL TOWN ON SMALL STREET WITH NO STREET LIGHTING. I WAS ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR AND STARTED TO BRAKE FOR A STOP SIGN. HEADLIGHTS FLASHED AND WENT OUT. I TURNED MY HEADLIGHTS OFF AND THEN TURNED THEM BACK ON AND THEY WERE GOOD. AFTER MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM THE STOP SIGN ABOUT 100 FEET MY LIGHTS WENT OUT. IT TOOK A WHILE TO FIND IN THE DARK A PLACE TO PULL OVER. I TRIED TURNING MY ENGINE OFF COMPLETELY, AND WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP, NO LIGHTS. I PLAYED AROUND WITH MY LIGHT LEVERS AND FINALLY FOUND THAT IF I DEPRESSED AND HELD THE FLASH LEVER MY LIGHTS WOULD WORK. I HAD ONE HECK OF A TIME TRYING TO MAKE TO LEFT TURNS AND HOLD DOWN LEVER TO GET HOME.

HEADLIGHTS GO OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY. THEY MAY OR MAY NOT COME BACK ON. HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND NOW EVERYDAY. THE LIGHTS WORK FOR THREE - FIVE MINUTES THEN GO OFF. THE MECHANIC SHOP SAYS IT IS A FAULTY LIGHT CONTROL MODULE.
