AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT A RURAL INTERSECTION I LOST POWER STEERING. I WAS GOING POSSIBLY 25 MPH. I WENT INTO THE LEFT LANE BUT THERE WAS NO VEHICLE THERE. IF THERE HAD BEEN I WOULD HAVE HIT IT. A WARNING CAME ON "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC & SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" THIS ALSO HAPPENED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS STOPPED. AT THAT TIME A FORD TECH REPROGRAMMED A MODULE & IT HAS BEEN OK TIL NOW. *TR
ALL 4 LED TAIL LIGHT UNITS FAILED. 1 EACH LEFT AND RIGHT BODY. 1 EACH LEFT & RIGHT TRUNK LID. *TR
THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY BURNED OUT AFTER AN UNUSUALLY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, THEY ARE LED TYPE AND LASTED ONLY 5 YEARS. LED'S WITH THIS SHORT LIFE SPAN SHOULD BE CONSIDERED DEFECTIVE AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS INCIDENTS BEING REPORTED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 65MPH WHEN THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WITH STABILITY CONTROL. IT WAS VERY HARD TO JUST KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE OF THE HIGHWAY NOT TO MENTION TO TURN THE CAR. THIS HAD HAPPEN TWICE BEFORE WITH A FORD DEALERSHIP RESETTING THE SENSOR. THIS TIME THE CAR WENT INTO THE FORD SHOP COMING OUT WITH THEM HAVING TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING UNIT FOR A COST OF 1700.00 BUT WHEN THEY REPORTED IT TO CARFAX IT WAS ONLY REPORTED AS AN ALIGNMENT AND INSPECTION! I FEEL THAT FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL CAR. *TR
LED TAIL/STOP LIGHT FAILS; FORD GARAGE SAYS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND PART; THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD REFUSES TO FIX UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY; REPAIR NOT POSSIBLE; ONLY REPLACEMENT OF ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF ~$400 EACH. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, AS I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL THE TURN WAS SLOW TO RESPOND AND TURNING BACK TO STRAIGHT DRIVING POSITION, STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN WHICH ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT A PARKED CAR. AFTER PARKING (WHICH TOOK EXTREME EFFORT AND ARM/SHOULDER PAIN) AND STARTING AGAIN, AUTOMATIC STEERING ABILITY HAD FAILED AND INDICATOR LIGHT READ "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW". THE CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT IS TOO HARD TO TURN STEERING WHEEL AND FOR FEAR THAT THE LACK OF POWER STEERING WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS POSTED ON THE INTERNET WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND CONCERNS. PLEASE ADD MY VEHICLE IN THE RECALL LIST SO THAT NOT ONLY I AND MY FAMILY WILL BE SAFE BUT ALSO ANYONE ELSE THAT MAY BE ON THE ROAD WHO CAN BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THE INABILITY TO MANEUVER SAFELY DUE TO NO POWER STEERING CAPABILITY. ACCORDING TO FORD'S MOTTO "BUILT FOR THE ROAD AHEAD", I CAN'T GET TO THE "ROAD AHEAD" SAFELY WITHOUT POWER STEERING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN I94 IN WASHTENAW COUNTY AND I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION TO THE EXTENT "SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEMS" WITHIN THE NEXT 5 MINUTES I COMPLETELY LOSS POWER STEERING. ONCE IN A SAFE LOCATION, I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED; THE PROBLEM REMAINED. REPEATED TWICE TO NO AVAIL. REPRESENTATIVES AT FORD CLIENT RELATIONS STATES "NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE" DEALER STATES "NOT A LOT OF KNOWN PROBLEMS THAT THEY HAVE SEEN". I REITERATED TO BOTH THAT MY RESEARCH SHOWS THE OPPOSITE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF THE SAME REPORT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE TRACTION AND POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
I WAS ISSUED A WARNING BY LOCAL POLICE THAT MY LEFT REAR TAILLIGHT WAS NOT WORKING. THIS IS AN LED ARRAY THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE. ON INVESTIGATION, I OBSERVED THAT THE TAILLIGHT ONLY WORKS INTERMITTENTLY, AND WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. FURTHER, THERE IS NO BRIGHTNESS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRAKING AND NON BRAKING INTENSITY. *TR
3 TIMES WHEN I HAVE STARTED MY CAR THE "POWER STEERING FAULT ASSIST" IS DISPLAYED AND I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. AFTER RESTARTING IT WAS FINE BUT NOW IT HAS COMPLETELY GONE OUT. THE VEHICLE ISN'T OLD ENOUGH FOR IT TO FAIL. IF IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING I COULD HAVE WRECKED. IT IS UNSAFE. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE OUTER TAIL LIGHT IS PARTIALLY OUT. THE OUTER 2 SEGMENTS STILL LIGHT UP, BUT THE INNER 5 ARE OUT. IF YOU TAP THE LIGHT IT FLICKS ON FOR A SECOND ON THEN GOES OUT AGAIN. THE LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED EITHER. *JS
THE DRIVER'S SIDE BREAK LIGHT IS HYDERACTIVE WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE OFF THE BREAK LIGHT WORKS FINE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A POPULAR ISSUE WITH MANY MERCURY MILIANS. THE PART WAS 377.00 TO REPLACE IT AND I HAVE NO HAD THE CAR A FULL YEAR. ALSO MY DRIVER'S SIDE ACTUATOR IN MY HEADLIGHT WENT AS WELL. MY FIRST CAR PURCHASED EVER AND IT WAS FORD AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUE WITH THE CAR. DISAPPOINTING. *JS

POWER STEERING COMPLETELY GONE 5 MIN AFTER WARNING LIGHT AND CHIME SOUNDED, AND DISPLAY ON DASH SAID POWER STEERING FAILURE AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC NOW. SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING AND ONLY HAVE 5 MINUTES BEFORE YOU LOSE YOUR STEERING. WARNING LIGHT WAS A CAR WITH CURVY TIRE TRACKS. THIS NEEDS A RECALL DUE TO ITS DANGEROUS IMPLICATIONS. *TR
DRIVING DOWN HWY AT NORMAL SPEED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE FLEW OFF. 3 OF THE WHEEL STUDS ARE MISSING NOW AND I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE THE TIRER ROLLED TO. MY CAR SLIDE IN SOME BUSHES. NO REAL DAMAGE THAT I SAW (INCIDENT HAPPENED AT NIGHT). *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000. THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC ENGINE COVER RUBBED A HOLE THROUGH THE HIGH VOLTAGE WIRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE. THE TECHNICIAN MADE THE CONTACT AWARE OF THE EXPOSED HIGH VOLTAGE WIRING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE DASHBOARD SHOWED A MESSAGE THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE SERVICED AND THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. *TR
POWER STEERING WENT OUT UNTIL I RESTARTED THE CAR THEN FINE UNTIL LATER IN THE DAY, SAME THING NO POWER STEERING. EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO. THEN IT STARTED A AGAIN, AS THE DAYS WENT BY IT WAS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE AND NOW IT WONT RESET WHEN STARTING. NO POWER STEERING AT ALL!
AT APPROXIMATELY 9:00PM I WAS PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICER WHO ADVISED ME THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOT WORKING AND IN FACT WAS STAYING ON ALL THE TIME. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY, MANY OWNERS HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE YET FORD/MERCURY HAS NOT RECALLED THE AFFECTED PART. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD AS DRIVERS BEHIND ME MAY BE CONFUSED WHEN LOOKING AT MY BRAKE LIGHTS BUT NOT SEEING A CHANGE. ALSO, I ASSUME THAT THIS WILL AFFECT MY VEHICLE PASSING INSPECTION IN MY STATE. APPARENTLY THIS PART COSTS OVER $400.00 TO REPLACE AND MANY PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD THIS EXPENDITURE. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE MILAN IS EQUIPPED WITH LED TAIL AND BRAKE LIGHTS, UNLIKE IT'S SIBLING, THE FORD FUSION. RECENTLY, I DISCOVERED AFTER BEING PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT OPERATING. I WENT TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE TAIL LIGHT/BRAKE LIGHT/TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLY IS ONE SEALED, UNSERVICEABLE UNIT. THERE WAS NO WARNING AND LEDS DO NOT BURN OUT THIS QUICKLY. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, FORD WILL NOT COVER THIS UNDER THEIR PREMUIMCARE ESP WARRANTY, BECAUSE THEY CONSIDER IT A CONSUMABLE OBJECT LIKE TIRES. SO ON TOP OF ALMOST GETTING KILLED BY BEING REAR-ENDED IN A COLLISION, I GOT THE PRIVILEGE OF PAYING $1000.00 TO REPLACE BOTH SEALED ASSEMBLIES. THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE IN THESE VEHICLES AND A HAZARD ON THE ROAD WHICH OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING. PLEASE RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND MAKE FORD FIX THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE. THANK YOU, *TR
SOMEONE NOTICED MY REAR PASSENGER TAIL LIGHT ON MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN WAS ABNORMALLY BRIGHT AND THAT BRAKE LIGHT DID NOT WORK. SO I INVESTIGATE AND FIND THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY INSTEAD OF JUST A BULB. OMG. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL FORD OWNER SINCE 1985. THE COST TO REPLACE IS OVER $600? UNBELIEVABLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
I DROVE DOWN MY DRIVEWAY, TURNED LEFT TO PULL INTO MY GARAGE. AS I APPROACHED THE DOOR OPENING, TURNING, SLOWING, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK AND BEFORE STRAIGHTENING THE WHEEL, IT SEEMED LIKE THE CAR HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. I COULD NOT STOP IT. MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BREAK PRESSING WITH ALL MY STRENGTH. THE CAR DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT HIT THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE DOOR OPENING.
WIFE WAS DRIVING CAR GOT AURAL WARNING ACCOMPANIED BY SERVICE POWER STEERING, AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC SYS WITH THE SKIDDING CAR SYMBOL ON DASH. COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THERE WERE NO PRIOR NOISES/STEERING ISSUE THAT WOULD HAVE LEAD US TO BELIEVE THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS SUCH AS SNOW OR ICE OR NEED TO AVOID A COLLISION SHE COULD BARELY STEER VEHICLE. *TR
RIGHT REAR BRAKE LIGHT INOPERABLE AND NONE REPAIRABLE.THE ASSEMBLY IS NOT REPAIRABLE AND IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE ($300 TO $400 ).FORD SHOULD MAKE THE ASSEMBLY SERVICEABLE OR AFFORDABLE.FAILURE IS VERY PREMATURE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON 12/5/2014, I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT WAS DIMMER THAN THE DRIVER'S SIDE TAIL LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT DID NOT BRIGHTEN WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE WHOLE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF BETWEEN $400-500 SINCE THIS IS AN LED INTEGRATED SYSTEM. FROM AN INTERNET SEARCH AND THE NHTSA COMPLAINTS, IT SEEM THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS OCCURRING AT LOW MILEAGES. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND WILL THEREFORE CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IS. I'M SURE THERE MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS ISSUE THAT CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. IN SOME CASES, BOTH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHTS/BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE FAILED AT LOW MILEAGES, WHICH MIGHT COST UP TO $1000 TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IN COLORADO, WE DO NOT HAVE AN INSPECTION PROGRAM, SO THIS ISSUE WOULD NOT KEEP DRIVERS FROM DRIVING THEIR CARS IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION. I'M AFRAID IT WILL TAKE A FATALITY AND A LAWSUIT TO ELEVATE THIS ISSUE TO THE POINT WHERE FORD WILL ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, WE HEARD AN ALERT CHIME AND SAW THE MESSAGE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRACK" ON THE DASHBOARD. WE DROVE APPROXIMATELY ONE MORE MILE AND THEN THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING, CAUSING IT TO VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. *JS
WAS ALERTED THAT MY LEFT REAR PASSENGER TAIL LIGHT ON MY 2010 MERCURY MILAN HYBRID WAS ABNORMALLY BRIGHT AND THAT BRAKE LIGHT DID NOT CHANGE ILLUMINATION LEVEL. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT ENTIRE ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR $600. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, PREMIUMCARE ECP, AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A WARRANTY ELIGIBLE ITEM AND IS INSTEAD CONSIDERED CONSUMABLE BECAUSE THERE ARE LEDS INVOLVED. THERE ARE NO BULBS BURNED OUT, THEY ARE HIGHLY ILLUMINATED ALL THE TIME DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, NOT A CONVENIENCE ISSUE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY IS NOT FUNCTIONAL SEEMS THE LED PORTION OF THE TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $400-500 FROM THE DEALER. THIS IS THE SECOND TAILLIGHT IN THE 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP THAT IT HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED. VERY POOR DESIGN AND SAFETY CONCERN OF MINE SINCE THIS IS NO LONGER A $2.00 BULB REPLACEMENT BUT AN ENTIRE TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY. *TR
WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWNHILL, THE BRAKES DO NOT GRAB AT ALL. MOST TIMES ON THE ROAD, THEY WORK FINE. HAD MECHANIC CHECK MASTER CYLINDER, PADS AND ROTORS. ALL CHECKED OUT FINE. HE'S HAD OTHER VEHICLES WITH SAME PROBLEM, CHANGED ALL THE PREVIOUS LISTED PARTS WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. UPON CHANGING THE ABS MODULE, THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED. MY HUSBAND'S COMPANY HAS A FLEET OF FORD FUSIONS (BASICALLY SAME CAR AS MY MILAN) AND PEOPLE HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS SAME PROBLEM WHICH HAS BEEN RESOLVED WHEN THE ABS MODULE IS CHANGED. I HAVE ALSO READ OF MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ONLINE. I BELIEVE THIS POSES AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. I HAVE TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE. I HAVE TO WONDER HOW MANY ACCIDENTS WERE CAUSED DUE TO THE ABS MODULE INTERFERING WITH THE BRAKES ABILITY TO WORK PROPERLY. MY CAR CURRENTLY ONLY HAS 25,000 MILES AND HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THEIR LIGHTS. THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST STEERING WOULD FAIL INTERMITTENTLY AND A MESSAGE WOULD DISPLAY TO THAT EFFECT MOST OF THE TIME. IF REAR LED LIGHTS NEED TO BE REPLACED FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD PUT A 7 YEAR / 70K MILE GUARANTEE ON THE HIGH DOLLAR REPLACEMENT LIGHTS. WHO MAKES THESE FOR FORD ? *TR

ONE OF CONCERNS IS WHY DIDN'T THE SAFETY SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE ALERT ME THAT I HAD A TAIL LIGHT OUT. MY FORD FUSION IDENTIFIES WHEN A LIGHT IS NOT WORKING AND ITS 4 YEARS OLDER. *TR
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS "CERTIFIED" MERCURY MILAN ON 10/25/14. I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR LESS THAN 3 WKS AND THE RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT. I ONLY KNEW THIS BECAUSE I WAS PULLED OVER BY OUR LOCAL POLICE DEPT. AND WAS GIVEN A WARNING. I TRIED TO FIND THIS IN THE LOCAL AUTO STORE AND FOUND OUT IT NEEDED TO BE PURCHASED BY THE DEALER. I THEN CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN. I WAS TOLD A TICKET WOULD BE CREATED AND GIVEN TO SALES AND I WOULD BE CALLED THE NEXT DAY. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL "NEW" TO ME I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. I WAITED 2 DAYS AND NO RESPONSE. MY SPOUSE WENT INTO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY AND THAT THE COST TO US WOULD BE $500. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD THAT MANY CONSUMERS CANNOT AFFORD AND MANY ACCIDENTS WILL BE CAUSED. I DO NOT EVEN FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY GRANDCHILD IN THIS VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF HIM BEING INJURED IF I GET REAR ENDED. I FEEL DO TO THIS BEING A SAFETY CONCERN THAT FORD WOULD DO A RECALL AFTER HAVING SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. I HAVE CALLED FORD MOTOR CO. @ 800-392-3673 TO VOICE MY CONCERN. THE MORE THAT CALL MAYBE SOMETHING WILL BE DONE BEFORE AN INNOCENT PERSON LOSES THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF A FAULTY SYSTEM THAT THIS COMPANY IS VERY AWARE OF.. *TR
LEFT REAR TAILLIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE ON DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. RIGHT REAR TAILLIGHT FLICKERS BUT FULLY ILLUMINATES ON DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS THE LIGHTS ARE LED AND ENCASED IN A HOUSING, THE REPLACEMENT COST APPROACHES $400 PER UNIT. *TR
RIGHT REAR TAIL LAMP / BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY INOP AGAIN. THIS IS MY 3 ASSEMBLY THAT HAS FAILED IN 15 MONTHS. IT IS AN LED ASSEMBLY, IT COSTS $375.00 FOR THE PART. YOU CAN'T REPLACE A BULB. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE ACCORDINGLY WHENEVER ADDITIONAL EXTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH OF THE TAIL LIGHTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
WE WERE INFORMED BY A INDIVIDUAL IN A PASSING CAR THAT OUR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY ONE EVENING. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER TO GET THE OIL CHANGED AND EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTING ISSUE RESOLVED. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACE AND BECAUSE IT WAS PART OF AN ASSEMBLY, THE TOTAL CHARGE WOULD BE $1281.87 WHICH INCLUDED AN OIL CHANGE AND DIAGNOSIS. I FELT I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THE LIGHTS RATHER THAN ENDANGER US OR SOME OTHER INDIVIDUAL(S) ON THE ROAD. I CALLED FORD AND RECEIVED A CASE # BUT AS OF 11/21/14 I HAVE HEARD NO RESPONSE. GOING TO THIS SITE THERE IS 89 OUT OF 438 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THESE LED LIGHTS SHOULD GO OUT THIS QUICK NOR THAT IF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, SHOULD REQUIRE THE WHOLE BRAKE ASSEMBLY TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A ENGINEERING DESIGN FAILURE. FORD CLAIMS "QUALITY IS JOB ONE. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS AND ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
IT HAS BEEN THREE WEEKS SINCE I PURCHASED A 2010 MERCURY MILAN WITH 41,000 MILES BUT LAST NIGHT I DISCOVERED BOTH REAR BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON. MY PROFESSION IS IN THE SAFETY FIELD WHICH LEADS ME TO SAY THAT IF THIS VEHICLE WAS ON MY JOB SITE IT WOULD BE TAGGED OUT OF SERVICE DUE TO IMPROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN THE PAST AND EVEN THOUGH I DO LIKE THEIR PRODUCTS THEY HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT THEY SELL TO INDIVIDUALS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS SAFETY EQUIPMENT. I WILL NOT ALLOW MY FAMILY TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE IN IT'S PRESENT CONDITION. *TR
NOTICED LED TAILLIGHT BEGINNING TO GO OUT PASSENGER SIDE. INDIVIDUAL LEDS UNABLE FOR REPLACEMENT BUT FULL TAILLIGHT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $284. DUE TO COST OF REPLACEMENT, I FEEL THE TAILLIGHTS SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN FOUR YEARS OR 60,000 MILES. THE PART IS UNCOMMON AND NOT STOCKED IN ANY PART STORES HERE, CITY OF 70,000. I WORK ON THE ROAD SO THAT MAKES FINDING TIME FOR A DEALERSHIP REPAIR NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. I AM NOW DRIVING WITH A DIM TAILLIGHT WHILE I TRY TO FIND ONE ONLINE AND AWAIT SHIPMENT FOR A DIY. *TR
THE LEFT REAR OUTER BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY LED LIGHTS HAVE FAILED. I EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO PICK UP A REPLACEMENT AT THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS DEALERSHIP. I FOUND OUT THAT I HAD TO GET THE PART FROM MY FORD DEALER. I CAN NOT SIMPLY REPLACE THE LED ASSEMBLY. IT WILL COST NEARLY $400.00 FOR ME TO PURCHASE A NEW BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A RIDICULOUSLY HIGH PRICE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A BRAKE LIGHT. I FEAR THE HIGH COST WILL CAUSE MANY MILAN DRIVERS TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITHOUT ADEQUATE LIGHTING ON THEIR VEHICLES. FORD SHOULD EITHER REPLACE THE PART FOR FREE, OR GREATLY REDUCE THE COST OF THE ASSEMBLY DUE TO THEIR DESIGN FAILURE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY, MY CAR JERKED AND THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAN ON AND NO ACCELERATION WHILE I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO COAST TO SAFETY AND WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR IS WAS JERKING BACK. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TURNED IT BACK ON, IT STARTED UP AND RAN FINE. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, NOT ONCE BUT TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVING 15 MPH AND THE 2ND INCIDENT TODAY ABOUT 30 MPH. BOTH OF THESE TIMES I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD SAFELY, AND GOT THE CAR TO RESTART AND MAKE IT HOME 45 MILES AWAY. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR, THAT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE VEHICLE WAS 54,000.
DRIVER SIDE REAR BRAKE LIGHT STAYING ILLUMINATED CONSTANTLY AS IF THE BRAKE IS PRESSED AND NEARLY CAUSED CRASH (I HAD TWO SMALL CHILDREN SITTING IN THE BACK OF MY MILAN), HAD THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME NOT WENT INTO THE DITCH A COLLISION WOULD HAVE BEEN INEVITABLE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM AS IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE BODILY HARM AND INJURY TO THE OCCUPANTS. I HAD NO IDEA THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH CONSTANT ILLUMINATION UNTIL THIS POINT. UPON SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH I SEE THIS IS A FREQUENTLY REPORTED PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL HAS YET BEEN ISSUED NOR AN INVESTIGATION. ALSO SINCE LEARNING OF THIS PROBLEM THIS MORNING AND OBSERVING THE VEHICLE BRAKE LIGHTS THERE IS ALSO A FLICKER OF LIGHTS EVERY SO OFTEN. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 MERCURY MILAN. THIS HAS BEEN AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM: SOMETIMES THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT DOES A HARD GEAR SHIFT--THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR LOSES POWER. ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED. VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER FOR MY DAUGHTER DRIVING THE CAR. SHE WAS DRIVING ON LOCAL STREETS. THE EFFORT FOR STEERING WAS INCREASED GREATLY AND COULD HAVE LED TO AN ACCIDENT. SHE MANAGED TO PULL OVER SAFELY. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THE 2011 MERCURY MILAN #15V340000 THAT IS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. STEERING GEAR WAS REPLACED TO RESOLVE ISSUE.
REAR LEFT BRAKE LIGHT IS MALFUNCTIONING -- LOCAL SHOP SAID IT IS NOT THE BULB, RATHER THE WHOLE REAR (LEFT) LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND THE SENSOR ATTACHED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 18,000 MILES ON IT -- THIS SHOULD NOT BE FAILING AT THIS POINT -- COST TO REPAIR IS APPROX. $1000 (FOR PARTS, LABOR) -- OTHERS ALSO BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT -- A 'RECALL' SHOULD BE DONE -- THE BRAKES ARE A SAFETY ISSUE -- IF THE DRIVER BEHIND YOU DOESN'T SEE THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON, THE MILAN CAN GET READ-ENDED. *TR
