TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER EQUIPPED WITH BF GOODRICH TIRES 105S RUGGED TRAIL T/A TIRES, SIZE: P245/65R17. THE CONTACT NOTICED EXCESSIVE CRACKING AROUND THE TREAD FOR ALL FOUR TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE NOT ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
DEXTERO DHT2 TIRE P245/70R16 106T THIS TIRE I PURCHASED AT WALMART MARCH 2013. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH SLIDING NOT GRIPPING THE PAVEMENT ALSO LOOKS LIKE THE BULGE OUT. I HAVE CALLED WALMART THEY SAID THEY PROBABLY NEED BALANCED OR ROTATED SO THEY DID THIS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. I CALLED THEM THEY SAID THEY NEED THEIR TIRE SPECIALIST TO LOOK IT OVER. ALSO TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS TIRE. I COULD NOT EVEN FIND THIS TIRE ON THE RECALL LIST I ASSUME ITS FROM CHINA. THE TIRE SPECIALIST TOOK MEASURMENTS OF TIRE AND HAD TO TALK WITH ANOTHER SPECIALIST ABOUT WHAT TO DO IF ANYTHING THEY SAID. RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING WENT OUT AND WAS REPLACED AT 50,000 MILES. I JUST REPLACED THE SAME WHEEL BEARING AT 100,000 MILES. THE TWO REAR BEARINGS HAVE ALSO BEEN DIAGNOSED AS FAILING AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE I HAVE HAD WHEEL BEARING PROBLEMS ON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE FRONT LEFT ORIGINAL MANUFACTURES RIM HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE RIM IN QUESTION AFTER INVESTIGATING IT HAD A FRACTURE THAT WAS PERPENDICULAR TO THE ROTATION OF THE RIM WHICH RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE CAUSING A SECONDARY FAILURE BY THE RIM FRACTURING IN THE CIRCUMFERENCE CAUSING THE RIM ITSELF TO SEPARATE INTO TWO PIECES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR WHEELS WERE BEGINNING TO CORRODE FROM THE REAR TO THE FRONT. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WHEELS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE SINCE THERE WAS NO RELATED RECALLS. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE AS IT WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
LAST NIGHT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE TREADS ON OUR TIRE CAME COMPLETELY OFF. THIS CAUSED OUR VEHICLE TO SWERVE BADLY INTO THE LANE NEXT TO US. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO CARS IN THAT LANE AT THE TIME. THIS COULD OF BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF A VEHICLE WAS IN THAT LANE AT THE TIME. SO WE PULLED OVER AND CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE. *JB
I LEFT MY AUTOMOBILE, 2002 MERCURY SABLE, AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ITS 25,000 MILE MAINTENANCE AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE FRONT END AS IT WAS SHIMMERING OVER 40 MPH. I WAS TOLD THAT ALL FOUR TIRE WALLS WERE CRACKING AND THAT THE TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST LESS ALLOWANCE. I WAS FURIOUS AND CALLED SEVERAL PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TIRE COMPANY TO COMPLAIN. THE TIRE COMPANY TOLD ME THAT CRACKED SIDEWALLS WERE COVERED IN THE WARRANTY AND IF IT WAS NOT THE TIRES SHOULD BE REPLACED AT NO COST TO ME. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS WAS NOT COVERED YET AFTER I CALLED THE TIRE COMPANY THE SAID THAT SOME OF THE MANAGEMENT PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP LEARNED OF MY PROBLEM AND GAVE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ORDERS TO REPLACE THE TIRES AT NO COST WITHOUT CALLING THE TIRE COMPANY. THEY ALSO SPECIFIED THAT THE TIRES WOULD HAVE TO BE SHIPPED BACK TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THE WHOLE THING SMELLS OF A COVER-UP BECAUSE OF THE IMMEDIATE TURN AROUND AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I MENTIONED A LAWSUIT. ALL FOUR OF THESE TIRES COULD HAVE BLOWN ONE AT A TIME OR TOGETHER CAUSING INJURY AND I DO NOT FEEL GOOD ABOUT THIS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO CHANGE TIRE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. AS I WAS DRIVING, ALL 5 OF THE TIRE STUDS ON MY 2002 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER BROKE, WHICH THEN CAUSED MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL TO FALL OFF. WHEN THE TIRE FELL OFF IT TORE THE FENDER OF MY CAR. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE TIRE OR HUB CAP. *JB
2002 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE LS (ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT). THE TWO FRONT TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED BUBBLES IN THE SIDEWALL. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 15000 MILES. *NLM
DRIVING ON A RAINY AFTERNOON TO MY SONS HOUSE IN RIDGEWOOD, NJ. I RAN OVER A SMALL ROCK WHICH PUNCTURED MY REAR TIRE. THE TIRE HAD ONLY 3000 MILES ON IT AND COULD NOT BE FIXED, IT HAD A 2" TEAR IN IT. I FEEL THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED TO A NEW TIRE AND IS UNSAFE. EAGLE LS M+S P245/70R16
