2009 MITSUBSHI LANCER RALLIART PULLS HARD TO RIGHT AT ALL TIMES. TOOK TO DEALER THEY SAID THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. TOOK TO A SUSPENSION SHOP SAID MANUFACTURE SET CAMBER IS OFF. I HAVE WENT THRU MY THIRD SET OF FRONT TIRES IN ONLY 45,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR SAFETY. *TR
I HAVE 09 MITSUBISHI LANCER. WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ON A GREEN LIGHT, BRAKES NEVER ENGAGED SO I PULLED THE E-BRAKE, THE CR GOT OUT OF CONTROLLED AND CRASHED INTO A LIGHT POLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING FROM DALLAS, TX, TO EL PASO, TX IN MY 2009 MITSUBISHI RALLIART. AROUND 3PM AND WITH AN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE OF APPROX 99 DEGREES FARENHEIT (BASED ON THE DISPLAY READOUT ON THE CAR). I NOTICED A VERY VERY STRONG RAW FUEL OR GAS SMELL COMING IN FROM THE VENTS. THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON, SO I TURNED IT TO RECIRCULATING AIR, IT PERSISTED, SO I TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONER OFF, BUT THE VERY STRONG GASOLINE SMELL, TO MY AMAZEMENT, PERSISTED. 2 PASSENGERS (MY ELDERLY DAD 76, AND MY LITTLE SISTER, 18) ALSO NOTICED THE SMELL. THE SMELL LASTED AROUND 5 MINUTES, AND WE WERE FORCED TO OPEN ALL THE 4 WINDOWS, EVEN STILL THE SMELL WAS STRONG ENOUGH AND KEPT ON GOING. I STARTED FEELING LIGHTHEADED, SO I TOLD MY DAD, THE PASSENGER THAT I HAS TO PULL OVER (I LITERALLY FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO FAINT). WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR. LATER I TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE STRONG GAS SMELL DIDNT RETURN FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE. ONE OF MY PASSENGERS REPORTED A HEADACHE THAT SAME NIGHT. THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED 2 OR 3 TIMES BEFORE (LAST SUMMER). PLEASE LOOK INTO IT ASAP. THANK YOU. SINCERELY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER RALLIART. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING . THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS SEVERED. THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE SERPENTINE BELT CONTINUED TO FRACTURE AND THE TIRES WERE WEARING PREMATURELY DUE TO A DEFECTIVE TIRE CHAMBER. THE FRONT OUTER TIE ROD AND THE BUSHINGS WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE FRONT TIRES CONTINUED TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,178.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER TIRE VALVE FRACTURED CAUSING THE TIRE TO BECOME FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VALVE WAS REPLACED ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES. SINCE THE REPAIR, THE TPMS LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE AND HE HAD TO AD AIR TO THE TIRES EVERY 3 DAYS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,500.
AS IM DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY 95 OR I4, MY CAR IN THE ODEMETER AREA PROMPTS THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN ON THE CAR SLOWS DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY UNTIL IT STOPS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT SLOWS DOWN TRAFFIC WHEN DIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAR THEN HAVE TO COOL DOWN FOR 20 MINTUES . THIS CAR CAN NOT DRIVE IN TRAFFIC FOR NO MORE THAN TWO HOURS THEN IT SLOWS DOWN AND STOP. *TR
I HAVE AN 09 MITSUBISHI LANCER ES SPORT WITH THE SUN AND SOUND PACKAGE. THE AMPLIFIER, WHICH IS UNDER MY DRIVERS SIDE SEAT, FOR THE SOUNDSYSTEM STARTED SMOKING AND SPARKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO REPLACED IT A MONTH AGO, AND A WEEK AGO, WHILE I WAS DRIVING, IT STARTED SMOKING AND SPARKING AGAIN, BUT STOPS WHEN YOU POWER OFF THE RADIO, IF THE POWER IS ON IN THE RADIO, IT CONTINUES TO SMOKE AND SPARK. I BELIEVE THERE MAY BE A WIRING DEFECT IN MY CAR THAT IS CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN AND FEAR THAT IF IT CONTINUES MY CAR MAY EVENTUALLY CATCH ON FIRE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HEARD A POP NOISE. SMOKE CAME ROLLING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH MY FRONT DRIVERS SIDE SEAT. I STOPPED AND LOOKED, BUT FOUND NO FIRE. NOW THE SPEAKERS DO NOT WORK AND THE BOX UNDERNEATH MY SEAT SMELLS LIKE SMOKE. THERE WAS NO FIRE, BUT DEFINITELY COULD HAVE BEEN. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION TC-SST IS FAILING ON THE 2009 RALLIART FROM MITSUBISHI THE GEARS GO CRAZY ON ME AND JUMP AROUND AND GEARS ARE SLIPPING AND GETTING STUCK. OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING I THINK IT SHOULD BE RE-CALL TO GET THIS FIXED. IT CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH IT ALMOST DID FOR ME. *TR
I'LL TURN THE CAR ON AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE BUT THE GEAR DOES NOT ENGAGE. THE REVERSE LIGHT ON THE DISPLAY PANEL JUST CONTINUES TO BLINK. ANOTHER ISSUE INVOLVING THE TRANSMISSION OCCURS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL, THE CLUTCH FAILS TO ENGAGE CAUSING IT TO SLIP WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. ALSO WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE, THE RPMS JUST SHOOT THROUGH THE ROOF FURTHER PROVING OF CLUTCH SLIPPAGE. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR WILL LOSE THE ABILITY TO SHIFT TO 2, 4, OR 6 GEAR MAKING NORMAL CITY/HIGHWAY DRIVING VERY HAZARDOUS. WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE CAR WILL DOWNSHIFT FROM 5TH TO 3RD AND THEN TO 1ST PUTTING TONS OF PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES INSTEAD OF DECELERATING THE CAR GRADUALLY. THE CAR ACTUALLY HESITATES AT THIS POINT AS IF IT DOES NOT WANT TO STOP. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR WILL RED LINE FIRST GEAR AND THEN SHIFT TO 3RD AND REPEAT TO SHIFT TO 5TH GEAR. THIS IS NOT SAFE AT ALL, AS I LOSE THE ABILITY TO MANUALLY SELECT GEARS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING OCCURRENCE IN MY 2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER RALLIART SINCE DECEMBER OF 2009, AND IT IS NOW MARCH 1, 2010. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITHOUT ANY HELP OR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS BEING UNDER WARRANTY. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER CASES WHERE PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME/SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE, ALMOST AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE VEHICLE 'S BRAKE ROTOR DISENGAGED AND TRAVELED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD NOISE, FOLLOWED BY THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT BELT DISENGAGEMENT. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHCILE RESUMED OPERATION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 9,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MITSIBUSHI LANCER GTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT 60 MPH HE APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BREAK PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. AS A CONSEQUENCE THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER, AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED, AND HE SUSTAINED INJURIES. SHE HAS A COPY OF THE POLICE REPORT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 16,000.
2009 LANCER MITSUBISHI - BRAKE FAILURE & TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MILES PER HR. ENDED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. MY HUSBAND BOUGHT A MITSUBISHI RALLIART 2009 LANCER AND WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OF WHICH CAR ROLLED OVER. 2009 LANCER, CLUTCH WENT OUT AT UNDER 20,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN READING OF MANY CLUTCH PROBLEMS IN PAST MODELS, IS THERE A TREND HERE. I HAVE OWED 15 CARS, HALF HAVE BEEN MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ONLY HAD TO REPLACE 2 CLUTCHES: MITSUBISHI 3000 GT AT 40,000 AND THE LANCER AT 18,000. I HAVE A 10 YEAR OLD JEEP WRANGLER MANUAL THAT MY KIDS LEARNED TO DRIVE ON WITH ABOUT 70,000 MILES WITH IT'S ORIGINAL CLUTCH. *TR
I'VE HAD MY 09 LANCER SINCE JULY OF 2008. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS UP UNTIL RECENTLY. I WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE, I WAS ON THE LEFT HAND LANE WHEN I LOOKED THROUGH THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED A VEHICLE BEHIND DOING ABOUT 80-90 MILES PER HOUR. I MERGED TO THE MIDDLE LANE SO THAT THEY COULD CONTINUE ON. THEY WERE RECKLESSLY DRIVING AND THEY SWERVED TO MY LANE, I PROCEEDED TO SWERVE TO AVOID GETTING HIT AND WHEN I TRIED TO HIT THE BRAKES THEY JAMMED ON ME. I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT THE RIGHT DIVIDER WITH THE FRONT OF MY CAR, THE CAR PROCEEDED TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AND EVERY ANGLE OF THE CAR WAS HIT WITH DIVIDER AND THEN I ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE LANE FACING TRAFFIC. ONLY 3 OUT OF 8 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE MAIN AIRBAG WHICH WAS THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG AND KNEE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR IS CLAIMED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS BY GEICO. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER IN MAY OF '08. I TRADED IN MY '04 LANCER AT THAT TIME WITH 145,000KMS. ALL ORIGINAL PARTS EXCEPT FOR BRAKES. I MOVED TO BC IN AUG '08 FROM ALBERTA WHERE I HAD BOUGHT MY CAR. *TR I WAS COMING HOME FROM CHRISTMAS IN AB ON JAN.2/09 WHEN THE HINGE ON MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW BROKE, AND MY CLUTCH STARTED TO SLIP. I DROVE MY MY CAR AN HOUR AND A HALF TO THE NEAREST MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. THE MECHANIC THAT DAY TOLD ME THAT THE REAR SEAL HAD A LEAK, THAT OIL HAD BEEN SPRAYING LIKELY THROUGH THE CLUTCH AND THAT I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE MADE IT. WHEN A DIFFERENT PERSON CALLED ME ON MONDAY, HE SAID THAT WHEN THEY TOOK IT APART, THE SEAL HAD BEEN FACTORY INSTALLED WRONG AND THAT'S WHAT WAS CAUSING THE OIL TO LEAK. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO TRACE OF OIL IN THE CLUTCH AND THAT IT WAS WORN. HE TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL COVER THE SEAL AND THE WINDOW, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CLUTCH. I HAVE DRIVEN MANUAL FOR OVER 10 YEARS. I HAVE DRIVEN TO AB AND BACK 4 TIMES IN MY NEW CAR, SO 80% OF THE 30,000KMS ON IT ARE HWY DRIVEN. I GOT 145,000KMS AND 4 1/2 YRS ON THE LAST LANCER I BOUGHT, AND TRADED IT IN WITH THE ORIGINAL CLUTCH. I HAVE TALKED TO MGR'S AND SUPERVISOR'S, AND THEY ALL GO BACK AND TALK TO THE MECHANIC. SAYING THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE. NO SECOND OPINION. LEAVING ME TO COVER THE COST OF A NEW CLUTCH ($600). I HAVE SINCE FOUND REPORTS THAT THERE HAVE BEEN PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH CLUTCHES ON OLDER MODELS. COULD THERE NOT BE PROBLEMS WITH NEW ONES TOO? ESPECIALLY WHEN 2 OTHER MAJOR BREAKS HAPPENED ON THE SAME DAY ON MY CAR? BOTH FACTORY PROBLEMS. *TR
MITSUBISHI LANCER ES SPORT 2009. I HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM, I RECEIVE A LETTER OF A SERVICE RECALL AND I WENT TO MAKE THE REPARATIONS. THE CAR HAS PRESENT SEVERAL BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT CALIPERS, DISKS AND PADS. APPARENTLY THE CAR HAS A DEFECT BECAUSE THE LEFT FRONT CALIPER MAKES THE PAD HAVE A FASTER WASTAGE THAN USUAL AND REDUCES THE BRAKE EFFICIENCY. I THINK THAT THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT PROBLEM BECAUSE MY LIFE IS IN RISK AND OTHER PERSONS LIFE BECAUSE I CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED BY 4 TIMES BUT STILL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, ACTUALLY THE CAR HAS 29,157 MILES. *TR
