2003 MONTERO SPORT XLS--- STUDDERS/JERKS AT 30+ MPH WHILES DRIVING DOWN THE RD, HAS BEEN IN SHOP 9 TIMES
THE ENGINE HAS STARTED ON ITS OWN W/OUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. YOU CANNOT TURN THE ENGINE OFF W/ THE KEY, AFTER SOME TIME IT WILL TURN ITSELF OFF. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE IGNITION. THE SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT IS IMPOSSIBLE, AND DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STICK SHIFT INDICATOR BROKE, MAKING HARD TO SHIFT THE GEAR. DEALER STATED THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART, AND DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL HAVE IT. *AK
I HAVE A 2003 MITSUBISHI LANCE OZ RALLY, CAR HAS 32,000 MILES ON IT, I PURCHASED IT USED. I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WHERE SOMETIMES I WOULD SMELL BURNING ODOR FROM THE VENTS. I THINK CAR RUNS VERY RUFF AND IM NOT SURE WHAT IT IS.. I BELIEVE IT'S THE TRANSMISSION FROM READING ALL THE POST ON HERE.. AND ALSO THE SHIFTING IS ROUGH. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO A DEALER SOON.. HOPEFULLY THEY WONT GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND AND FIX THE PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY.. THANKS! *NM
LOUD TICKING NOISE, INTERNITENT AT IDLE SPEED. SOUNDS LIKE VALVE STICKING.*AK
6 MONTHS AFTER VEHICLE PURCHASED. THE TWO FANS (RADIATOR AND COOLING) FAN STARTED TO COME ON AT THE SAME TIME. THE COOLING FAN ONLY NEEDS TO COME ON WHEN VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS HOT. BUT THE FAN COMES ON WHEN A TURN ON THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME. I DRIVE IT AND THE FANS KEEP ON RUNNING. IT SOUNDS LIKE I'M FLYING A PLAN AND NOT DRIVING A CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IF I HAVE THE DEFROSTER AND ON, THEN THE FANS WOULD COME ON. BUT THE FANS COME ON EITHER WAY. NO PROBLEMS FOUND BY DEALERSHIP AND SAID IT'S NORMAL. WELL, I DON'T THINK SO. *JB
THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE#03-V-194-000 FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON AUGUST 3, 2003 HOWEVER NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. *JB
CAR WAS PARKED WITH KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS AND STRUCK TREE.
EAGLE LS KEEPS LOSING TIRE PRESSURE (ABOUT 10PSI) EVERY 5-7 DAYS. HAVE WENT TO THE MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES NOW FOR THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID TO GO SEE A GOODYEAR SERVICE CENTER. GOODYEAR SAYS THE TIRE JUST NEEDS AIR AND IT'S OK. THIS CANNOT BE SAFE IF THE TIRE IS CONTINUALLY LOSING AIR PRESSURE IN SUCH A SHORT TIME FRAME. *JB
VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT ALL THE TIME. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR ALIGNMENT, AND THE ARMS WERE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THIS HAD NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO ADMIT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES.*AK
STEERING/SUSPENSION OUTLANDER XLS CAR PULLS AND DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT, CAR HAS BEEN TO AUTO SERVICE 3 TIMES AND PROBLEM STILL EXIST. *AK
AFTER REPAIR, THE AUTOMOBILE (MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER 2003 XLS) CONTINUES TO VEER AND DRIFT.*AK
I AM DRIVING A RENTED MITSUBISHI PROTOGE'. YESTERDAY I REACHED DOWN TO PICK UP A BOTTLE OF WATER FROM THE RECEPTACLE BY THE DASH. AS I REACHED, I ACCIDENTLY BRUSHED THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER ( AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ) AND THE GEAR SHIFT POPPED INTO NEUTRAL. I PULLED OUT OF TRAFFIC AND TRIED THIS AGAIN. SAME RESULT. JUST BUMPING THE GEAR SHIFT SENT IT INTO NEUTRAL. I FEEL THAT THIS REPRESENTS THE POSSIBILITY OF A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. IF IT WERE TO OCCUR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR IN ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS, ACCIDENTS COULD OCCUR. *AK
OUTLAND CONTINUES TO PULL VERY HARD TO THE RIGHT. IT HAS BEEN SERVICED THREE TIMES AND PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND THE PULLING IS NORMAL. *JB
THERE IS A ROTTEN EGG SMELL, ALL THE TIME. I'VE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER 3 PLUS TIMES, AND EACH TIME THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, AND THAT I AM USING CHEAP GAS. THEY SUGGUESTED CHANGING GAS STATIONS. IT STILL SMELLS NO MATTER WHERE I GET THE GAS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY VEERED TO THE RIGHT WHICH WAS FOLLOWED BY A LOUD NOISE. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *NLM
VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALER SAYS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS VEHICLE DOING SAME AND THE REPAIRS THE FACTORY SUGGESTED TO THE DEALER ARE NOT WORKING. *NLM
1. EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, IT HAS ALWAYS PULLED TO THE RIGHT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP AND A ALIGNMENT WAS DONE. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST. THE RIGHT SIDE TIRE IS STARTING TO WORN EVEN WITH THE NEW ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE AND ROTATION. 8JB
THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE, THE CAUSE WAS UNKNOWN.*JB
DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. PH
SINCE THE PURCHASE OF OUR 2003 OUTLANDER, IT HAS VEERED BADLY TO THE RIGHT. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF THE PROBLEM FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM 3 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. IF YOU ARE TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED IT IS NOT AS OBVIOUS, BUT WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS (60-70MPH) IF YOU DO NOT APPLY PRESSURE TO THE STEERING WHEEL, YOU WILL VEER RIGHT AND IN 5 TO 7 SECONDS BE IN A DITCH, OR IF PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE, YOU WOULD CRASH INTO THEM. I CONSIDER THIS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, THAT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. I JUST HAD THE OUTLANDER IN THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY FOR THE 3RD TIME, AND NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE PROBLEM IS STILL UNRESOLVED. ALIGNMENT HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM AND I AM TAKING IT BACK FOR THE 4TH TIME AND EXPECTING THE SAME END RESULTS.*AK
CAR BUSHING HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH ONLY 6000 MILES.. WHY? DEALER COULDNT EXPLAIN. ALSO, TWICE CAR HAS ACCELERATED WHEN COASTING ON FLAT ROAD. *AK
THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT WHEN DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO VEER TO THE RIGHT. *AK
I HAD THE COOLING FAN CONTROLLER REPLACED TWO TIMES/FANS COMING ON IMMEDIATELY WHEN STARTING THE CAR/ I HAD TO REPLACE THE THIRD ONE ON MY DIME/ NOW ITS CUTTING OUT @ CERTAIN SPEEDS/ I HAVE REPLACED THE MASS AIR FLOW METER/BOTH COILS /SPARK PLUGS/ PLUG WIRES STILL THE PROBLEM CONTINUES.*TR
FRONT BRAKES SQUEAK AND LOCK UP WHEN COLD, (MORNINGS) DEALER SAY IT'S NORMAL. MY FRIEND HAS AN OUTLANDER AND HE DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN IT IT 4 TO 5 TIMES. THE BRAKES LOCKING UP NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION FROM THE CAR BEHIND ME.*AK
THE CONSUMER MADE A LEFT TURN AND THE ENGINE HAD RUN AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOUR DEALERSHIPS AND WAS TOLD THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. THE WIPERS DID NOT CLEAR THE WINDOWS OR OPERATE ON HIGH SPEED, THE KEYLESS REMOTE SYSTEM DID NOT OPERATE WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE ENGINE, AND THE FUEL CAP DID NOT LOCK. RECALL#03V0S8000-THE PCM WAS REPROGRAMMED. MR SCC *JB
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT ENGINE PROBLEMS. STATED THAT VEHICLE WILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, AND HAD FIXED IT A COUPLE OF TIMES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. DEALER DID AN ALIGNMENT, AND CHECKED THE STEERING WHEEL. DEALER INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL PROBLEM AND THERE WAS NO SOLUTION. *AK
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT ON THREE OCCASSIONS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
