BOTH STRUTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED THE MILEAGE WAS AT 11743 FOR THE RIGHT STRUT AND LEFT STRUT AT 16753 MILES THE CAR STILL DRIVES BAD. FRONT OF CAR STILL MAKE NOISE THE LEFT BOUNCES LIKE A BASKETBALL WHEN DRIVEN ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. CAR PULL ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. GET STUCK ON LEFT TURN. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE WINDSHIELD RUBBER CAME OFF WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THERE WAS A HALF AN INCH GAP BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE FRAME WHERE THE WIPERS WERE CONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEARS WERE GRINDING AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL FELL DOWN WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SHIFT GEARS. HE HAD TO DRIVE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE OR APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL IT BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE FREQUENT DURING THE SUMMER. THE ENGINES OIL PRESSURE DECREASED TO 10 PSI. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE REQUIRED OIL PRESSURE WAS 14 PSI. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AFTER THEY REPLACED THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER CLUTCH IN 2008 BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. HE HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,200. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160.
TIRE BLISTER ISSUE(TURANZA EL 42 P215/55R17 93H M+S)--- I NOTICED A TIRE BLISTER ON MY FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. I VISITED MY DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE BUT WAS ONLY REDIRECTED TO BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE. HOWEVER, BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE DID NOT ADDRESS THE MATTER AND SIMPLY IGNORED THE FAILURE OF THE TIRE INTEGRITY. I AM WORRIED AS BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE HAS A HISTOY OF IGNORING PROBLEMS WITH ITS PRODUCTS AND HAS SACRIFICED THE SAFETY OF THE CONSUMER IN ORDER TO GAIN A PROFIT. NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE WHEN I CONTACTED THE BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE WARRANTY NUMBER (800-847-3272). I EVENTUALLY LOCATED ANOTHER NUMBER VIA DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE (800-582-0962). HOWEVER THE SOLE TECH SUPPORT REPRESENTATIVE SIMPLY DISMISSED THE MATTER. THE REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT COMPLETE A CLAIM FORM OR PROVIDE A CLAIM NUMBER. HE DIRECTED ME TO SEEK THE ADVICE OF A BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE RETAILER. HOWEVER, THE RETAILER COULD NOT PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITHOUT A CLAIM NUMBER, WHICH THE MANUFACTURER TECH REPRESENTATIVE SHOULD HAVE PROVIDED TO ME. I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH THE WAY BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE HANDLED THIS MATTER GIVEN ITS PREVIOUS HISTORY. I WISHED THAT NISSAN NEVER PLACED THIS BRAND OF TIRES ON ITS NEW VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY IF NISSAN DOES NOT PLAN TO PROTECT ITS CONSUMERS FROM BAD MANUFACTURERS. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO INSERT THE CORRECT TIRE SIZE. 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA - THE RADIO PRODUCES AN ACCEPTABLE SOUND BUT THE FACE PLATE LACKS SUFFICIENT LUMINOSITY & CONTRAST FOR THE INFORMATION TO BE SEEN. TYPICALLY, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE DISPLAY WHILE DRIVING AS YOU MUST FACE DIRECTLY IN-LINE WITH THE UNIT. NISSAN WAS CONTACTED 3/4/05 AND ACKNOWLEDGED THERE WERE PROBLEMS AND THAT THEY WERE THE RESULT OF THE RADIO BEING LOCATED TOO HIGH RESULTING IN SUNLIGHT "WASHING" OUT THE DISPLAY. I STATED THE PROBLEM EXISTS AT NIGHT AS WELL AND A CONTRAST/ILLUMINATION ADJUSTMENT WOULD HELP. I ASKED NISSAN TO REPLACE THE RADIO WITH A DIFFERENT UNIT AND THEY REFUSED BUT INDICATED THERE WOULD BE A REDESIGN IN 2006.*AK
2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH ENTIRE UNDER CARRIAGE RUSTING AND RUSTED THROUGH CERTAIN AREAS. I CHANGE MY OWN OIL SO IT WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL I BROUGHT IT INTO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR A TIMING BELT REPAIR IN MAY '10 WHILE ON THE LIFT THE NISSAN TECH POINTED OUT THE PROBLEM. HE EVEN ADMITTED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM/DEFECT IN THIS PARTICULAR MODEL/YEAR. WE TOOK OUR COMPLAINT TO NISSAN AND FILED A CLAIM (CLAIM #[XXX]). THEY INFORMED US THAT SINCE OUR WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO. EVEN THOUGH THE RUST WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL '10 IT WAS THERE ALL ALONG DURING THE WARRANTY TIME. THIS IS A GARAGE KEPT CAR AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THERE ARE NO OTHER RUST PROBLEMS EXCEPT FOR THE UNDER CARRIAGE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HOPE TO HAVE SUPPORT FROM OUTSIDE AGENCY TO MAKE NISSAN MAKE GOOD ON IT'S QUALITY OF CAR. WE DID NOT SPEND OUR HARD EARNED $33,000 ON A FRED FLINSTONE CAR!!! WE ARE WILLING TO SUMMIT PICTURES AND CONTINUE OUR MISSION UNTIL JUSTICE IS DONE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN THAT NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS. WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM ONE COULD BE INJURED SEVERELY. WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC IN SEVIERVILLE, TENNESSEE ON 2/12/2005, MY 2005 ALTIMA WAS HIT IN THE REAR BY A CAR THAT FAILED TO STOP. THE DRIVER OF THAT CAR WAS DETERMINED TO BE AT FAULT BY POLICE. FOUR VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT WITH MY CAR BEING THE MOST DAMAGED. POLICE ESTIMATED THE CAR THAT HIT ME WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH. AT IMPACT. THE IMPACT DROVE MY CAR FORWARD INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE REAR OF MY CAR WAS DESTROYED AND THE FRONT IMPACT WAS HARD ENOUGH THAT THE RADIATOR WAS BURST AND FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBERS AND THE HOOD WERE CRUMPLED. AT NO TIME DURING THE ACCIDENT DID EITHER OF THE FRONT AIR BAGS IN MY ALTIMA DEPLOY! HOWEVER, THE SEAT BELTS DID LOCK IN POSITION AND PROBABLY SAVED US FROM MORE SERIOUS INJURY. INJURIES FOR THOSE IN MY CAR (FOUR PEOPLE) CONSISTED OF CUTS, SCRAPES AND BRUISES ACCOMPANINED WITH SORENESS. SINCE IT IS ONLY TWO DAYS SINCE THE ACCIDENT, THERE MAY BE OTHER POSSIBLE PROBLEMS ARISE. I THOUGHT AIR BAGS WERE SUPPOSE TO DEPLOY IN CASES SUCH AS THIS? I NOTE FROM RESEARCH THAT NISSAN HAS HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND PROBLEMS WITH THEIR AIR BAG FAILURES. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO STOP THIS!*AK
AT ABOUT 9,500 MILES, FAULTY STARTER CAUSED THE CAR FAILED TO START AND STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED FROM AND THEY TESTED RIGHT THEN, THE CAR WON'T START BUT SPARKS WITH ALOT OF WHITE SMOKE FROM THE TAIL PIPE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW ON 7/4/04 WITH 50 MILES ON IT.*AK
CONTACT STATED: ON 2/4/05, DEALER LOWERED THE TIRE PRESSURE FROM 41 PSI TO 34 PSI AND THE CAR STILL RAN VERY ROUGH. TOOK BACK TO DEALER ON 3/4/05 FOR A TEST DRIVE, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM, SO HE LOWERED PSI TO 27. IT FELT LIKE THE TIRES WERE ROLLING OVER MARBLES, VERY ROUGH AND UNSAFE.*AK
DT: CAR JUST STOPS SOMETIMES AND IT WILL NOT START. CONSUMER ALMOST HAS TO FLOOD THE ENGINE BEFORE IT STARTS. DEALER TOLD CONSUMER SHE NEEDED TO PUMP THE GAS 3 TIMES BEFORE SHE STARTED THE CAR. SHE HAD VEHICLE IN THE REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY FAST. THEY PUT A THROTTLE CHAMBER IN IT, THEN IT STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING AGAIN . DEALER SAID IT WAS UNSAFE BECAUSE IT WAS RACING TOO HIGH; THEY ORDERED A NEW PART FOR THE CAR. IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. *AK UPDATED 02/07/06. *JB
PURCHASED A 05 ALTIMA IN JUNE OF 2004. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE CAR IN AT 19,000 AND TOLD THEM MY CAR SHAKES AND THERE IS A TICKING IN THE FRONT END. SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. YOU CAN FEEL THE SHAKING IN THE SEATS, GEAR SHIFT AND STEERING WHEEL. NOT TO MENTION THE SHAKING CONTINUES TO KNOCK MY WINDOWS OUT OF PLACE. THE SHAKING HAPPENS WHEN YOUR ARE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHILE DRIVING. THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE TIRES AND ALIGNMENT. I DID THE ALIGNMENT. THEY THEN SAID THAT THE TICKING WAS NORMAL AND THE SHAKING WAS NORMAL. SO BEING A YOUNG FEMALE I WAS TOOK THEM FOR THERE WORD. I THEN WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, NO ONE WAS HURT. CALLED NISSAN SAID TIRES WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SO I WENT TO AN OUTSIDE TIRE DEALER TO HAVE REPLACED, WAS TOLD RIM WAS BENT. AGAIN CALLED NISSAN WAS TOLD THAT WAS MY PROBLEM. SO I PURCHASED A NEW SET OF RIMS. JUST STARTED TO FACE THE FACT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE SHAKING AND NOISE. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO RETURNED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE ALONG WITH THE SHAKING AND NOISE NOW THERE IS A LOUD CLUNKING ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. WAS TOLD TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACE, ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE. ALSO GET THIS RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER RIM BENT. AGAIN! SAID IT WAS THE ROADS. TOOK TO TIRE DEALER. RIM WAS BENT. HE DID HIS PART, TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER. THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR MORE TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS THEN I CARE TO REMIND MYSELF. BUT HAS BEEN NO FIX TO ANY OF MY ISSUES. AT CLOSING OF REPAIR TICKET WAS TOLD TICKING NOISE THEY DID NOT KNOW WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM BUT THEY WERE PRETTY SURE IT WAS NOT THE ENGINE. THE SHAKING WAS FROM A BROKE RACK AND PINION. SO NOW THAT I AM OVER MY 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. I NEED TO PAY OVER 1300.00 TO HAVE REPAIRED. I FEEL LIKE THIS CAR IS A LEMON AND I AM NOW STUCK. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THIS LACK OF CONCERN NISSAN HAS WITH MY ISSUES. I NEED HELP GETTING MY CAR REPAIRED. *NM
I PURCHASED MY 2005 ALTIMA 2.5 S DECEMBER 2004 AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS I HAD TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM FOR A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FRONT THE ENGINE AREA AND A FEELING UNDER MY FEET LIKE SOMEONE WAS UNDER MY CAR STRIKING IT WITH A HAMMER, THIS OCCURS AT TAKE OFF, SHIFTING GEARS AND COMING TO A STOP (STILL DOWN SHIFTING), I ALSO FELT AS IF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED VERY ROUGH FOR A NEW CAR, IT JUST REALLY ALWAYS FELT LIKE MY MOTOR WAS ABOUT TO DROP ON THE GROUND. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISOR CAME OUT TO ME AND SAID THAT THE MECHANIC SAID HE COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO REPEAT IT SO IT SHOULD BE FINE. AS I DROVE AWAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN, I WAS HEATED AND CALLED THE DEALER WHEN I GOT HOME, THEY MADE ME ANOTHER APPT. AND THIS REPEATED AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN, NEVER BEING REPAIRED. NOW AFTER HITTING 100K MY CAR IS GREAT EXCEPT FOR THIS DARN CLUNKING, SO I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE, ENGINE MOUNTS BROKEN, MAINLY PASSENGER SIDE. SO I ORDERED PARTS AND HAD THEM ALL REPLACED AND SURE ENOUGH, I AM AMAZED I DIDN'T LOOSE MY MOTOR THE PASSENGER ONE WAS ALMOST LIKE NOTHING WAS THERE, OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A PART THAT HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR A REALLY LONG TIME. WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS AND KNOWN ISSUES, WHY HAS THIS NOT BECOME A RECALL? *JS
HIGH BEAM LIGHT CASTS A STRONG BEAM OF LIGHT STRAIGHT UP TO THE SKY. *TC THIS WAS A DISTRACTION AND DANGEROUS. AT ALL TIMES THE HIGH BEAMS WERE VISIBLE TO OBJECTS 10-15 FEET ABOVE THE VEHICLE. *SC
AFTER DRIVING THE NEW CAR APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS THE CONSUMER NOTICED A GOLF BALL SIZE BUBBLE ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE. *NM THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT HER TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE AND SHREDDING ON THE INSIDE. *TC *JB

I PURCHASES A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA ON NOV. 2, 2004. ON NOV. 23, 2004, MY BACK DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE, NOW HAVING 1400 MILES ON IT BLEW OUT. THERE WERE NO PUNCTURES IN THE TIRE, THE SIDEWALL JUST BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE TIRES WERE CONTINENTALS. NEITHER SUPERIOR NISSAN, NISSAN USA, NOR CONTINENTAL WOULD REPLACE MY TIRE. *AK
I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA THE FIRST TIME I DROVE THE CAR AT NIGHT AND TURNED ON THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS, I NOTICED THAT THE LIGHTS PROJECTED FAR LESS THAN I HAD BEEN USED TO IN THE 1998 ALTIMA OR EVEN THE 1988 SUBARU THAT WE HAVE. DRIVING AT NIGHT IS SCARY, UNCOMFORTABLE AND MOST CERTAINLY DANGEROUS. MY WIFE, THE SECOND DRIVER IN OUR FAMILY, NOTICED THE PROBLEM, AS DID A NEIGHBOR.ONE EVENING I LINED UP BOTH THE 1998 ALTIMA AND THE 2005 ALTIMA SIDE BY SIDE AND TURNED ON THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS OF EACH. THE NEW 2005 ALTIMA HEADLAMPS PROJECTED LESS THAN 2/3RDS THE DISTANCE AS THE 1998 ALTIMA. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER TO NO AVAIL. NISSAN ISSUED ME A REFERENCE COMPLAINT NO.4858724. THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND THAT IT JUST MAY BE THE DESIGN. THE DESIGN! THEY ADVISED ME TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALER PREFERABLY AT NIGHT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS CLOSE AT NIGHT SO THAT IS A VERY REMOTE POSSIBILITY. I ASKED IF THEY COULD RECOMMEND AFTER MARKET BULBS THAT I, AT MY OWN EXPENSE, COULD HAVE INSTALLED. THEY OFFERED NO ADVICE. THESE HEADLAMPS ARE A REAL DANGER TO ALL NIGHT DRIVERS ESPECIALLY ELDERLY DRIVERS. THIS IS A AN IMMINENT OR EVEN FATAL DANGER. AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN! I SINCERELY HOPE YOU WILL INVESTIGATE THIS DIRE SITUATION AND I PRAY NO LIVES ARE LOST IN THE MEAN TIME. *JB
I BOUGHT THE CAR ON 9/20/04. ON 10/3/04 I NOTICED THAT, THE ENGINE WAS LEAKING OIL. DIPSTICK SHOWED OIL LEVEL WAS BELOW LOW MARK. DEALER INSPECTION TRACED OIL LEAK TO THE GALLEY PLUG. *NM
CORRESOPNDENCE I WILL MAIL TO YOU DESCRIBES WHAT I CONSIDER TO BE DEFECTIVE UNSAFE AND UNHEALTHY'AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM OF THE 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. NAMELY FOR 3 AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL POSITIONS THE AIR CONDITIONING CANNOT BE SHUT OFF WITHOUT UNSAFELY STOPPING THE CAR'S ENGINE; THIS UNSAFE PROCEDURE IS ACTUALLY DOCUMENTED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL.*AK
WHILE DRIVE AT 25 MPH, CONSUMER HEARD A POP NOISE AND VEHICLE DIDN'T SHIFT FROM THE FIRST GEAR TO THE SECOND GEAR. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, MECHANIC INDICATED THE CABLE BROKE. CONSUMER INDICATED DON'T KNOW WHICH CABLE WAS BROKE AND SHE WILL PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.
DROVE TO THE MALL AND DROVE TO TARGET. CAME BACK TO DRIVE THE CAR AND PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE. THE STICK WAS STIFF AND IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO PUT INTO REVERSE. I THEN PUT THE CAR INTO FIRST GEAR WHICH AGAIN IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFICULT. WHEN I STOPPED TO ENTER INTO TRAFFIC AND PROCEEDED, THE STICK POPPED OUT OF GEAR AND I COULDN'T GET THE CAR INTO GEAR AND AN ONCOMING CAR ALMOST HIT ME. I FINALLY GOT IT TO GO INTO REVERSE AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. AFTER TRYING TO MOVE THE STICK AROUND INTO ALL THE GEARS, SECOND GEAR AND REVERSE WERE THE ONLY FUNCTIONALLY GEARS I HAD. I DROVE THE CAR IN SECOND GEAR TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. IT WAS JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM TARGET.
I JUST PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA FROM COOPER NISSAN IN EASTON, PA. PROBLEM: THE TRUNK LID IS POORLY DESIGNED AND IT WILL NOT STAY UP ON A SLOPING DRIVEWAY.*AK WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AND OPENED THE TRUNK ON MY DRIVEWAY. THE TRUNK LID WOULD NOT STAY UP, WHEN PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY. ABOUT A 15 DEGREE INCLINE. THE TRUNK LID HAS FALLEN ON ME SEVERAL TIMES BUT I WAS NOT CUT. I CONTACTED THE COOPER SERVICE DEPT AND THEY ORDERED NEW TORSION BARS. AFTER THEY WERE INSTALLED IT APPEARED TO WORK. ON 8/14/04 I WASHING VACUUMING OUT MY TRUNK. THE TRUNK LID FELL DOWN ON MY AND CAUSED A PUNCTURE WOUND TO THE BACK OF MY HEAD AND THE BLOOD STARTED FLOWING&. EVENTUALLY WITH A COMPRESS THE BLOOD FLOW STOPPED AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR BUT THE HEADACHE LASTED FOR HOURS! I CALLED THE COOPER SERVICE DEPT AND THEY ESSENTIALLY SAID" THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING, THATS THE WAY ITS DESIGNED- SORRY" I THEN CALLED THE NATIONAL NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT AND THEY REVIEWED MY COMPLAINT AND SUGGESTED A COURSE OF ACTION OF CHECKED MY CAR AGAINST OTHERS ON THE LOT AND TO REPLACE THE TORSION BARS AS NEEDED. BUT I HAD ALREADY DONE THAT. AND THEIR FINAL POSTION WAS " THATS THE WAY ITS DESIGNED AND THATS ALL THEY COULD DO, SORRY IT DOESN'T WORK ON YOUR DRIVEWAY - YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO HOLD UP THE LID WHEN YOU USE THE TRUNK" AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU NEED TWO HANDS TO PUT SOMETHING IN YOUR TRUNK??? I HAVE REPEATLY ASKED FOR A CHEAP , EASY FIX TO ADD ADDITIONAL STRENGTH TO THE TRUNK LID BUT I BEEN STALLED BY THE NISSAN PERSONNEL. THEY DON''T EVEN WANT TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I DON'T CARE IF IT WAS AN OFFICAL NISSAN FIX, I JUST WANTED A FIX. SO THAT I CAN SAFELY USE MY TRUNK WITHOUT BEING INJURED.
I BOUGHT MY 2005 ALTIMA MAY 3, 2005, SINCE THE PURCHASE I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE RADIO. IF YOU PUT ON THE REAR DEFROSTER THE RADIO GOES TO 100% PURE STATIC. ALSO WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO GREGORIS NISSANS SVC DEPT THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY MAY HAVE TO REPLACE MY REAR WINDOW! THE OTHER PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING WITH THIS CAR IS YOU CAN NOT READ THE DISPLAY OF THE RADIO WHEN IT IS SUNNY OUT. ALSO I HAVE A RATTLE IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WHEN THE RADIO IS ON. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH CONSUMER SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN A PANIC SITUATION AND BRAKES LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SKID. VEHICLE SKIDDED 15 FEET BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT TIRES HAD FLAT SPOTS BECAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT. ALSO, THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS LOCKED UP. I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 2.5S IN MAY 04'...I'VE BEEN HAVING IGNITION/SENSOR PROBLEMS FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THE PROBLEM: WHEN I TRY TO CRANK THE ENGINE USING THE KEYS PROVIDED (AT PURCHASE) THE CAR WILL HESITATE (SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL) I EVEN THOUGHT IT WAS A BATTERY RELATED ISSUE AND CHANGED THE BATTERY...ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAD TO CRANK IT NEARLY 5 TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD START. I ADDRESSED MY ISSUES WITH THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON MANY OCCASIONS BUT THEY WILL ONLY ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM IF/WHEN IT HAPPENS THERE. RECENTLY, I WAS INFORMED THAT A SIMILAR RECALL HAD TAKEN PLACE ON THE 2003-2004 MODELS BUT THAT THE 2005-2006 DID NOT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE...NOT!...I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN NISSAN'S APPROACH TO THIS PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED ENGINE FAILURE EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE ENGINE FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME, THE CONTACT HEARD SOMETHING POP WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE NEEDED ANOTHER ENGINE BLOCK. SHE HAD IT REPLACED, BUT THE VEHICLE STILL BEGAN TO PULL AND HESITATE AS IF IT WOULD LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE HAS YET TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,866 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150.
THE CAR RADIO FOR THE 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA IS DEFECTIVE. I SPOKE TO NISSAN DIRECTLY AFTER THE DEALER COULDN'T FIX IT. I WAS GIVEN CASE # 4564607 ON 6/8/04 WHEN THE CAR HAD 2,650 MILES ON IT. THEY SAID THAT NISSAN WAS REDESIGNING THE RADIO WITH ITS ENGINEERS + WOULD HAVE IT IN A MONTH. IT'S NOW 7/25/04 + I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING. I STILL HAVE A DEFECTIVE RADIO ON A BRAND NEW CAR.*AK
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I NOTICED MY CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS. MY "SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT" ALSO WENT ON. THE CAR STALLED, AND HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. CONSUMER SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR A CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY CUT OFF AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER WAS DENIED REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE THE RECALL ONLY REQUIRED REPROGRAMMING THE ECM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE REPROGRAMMING OF THE ECM DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE A FEW MONTHS LATER THE STALLING OCCURRED. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED UNTIL THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. *JB
