AS YOU WELL KNOW BY NOW, THE NUMEROUS DOCUMENTED ISSUES WITH 2002-2006 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS ALAS REACHED MY NISSAN ALTIMA. FLOORBOARD IS RUSTING INTENSELY BUT I AM NOT DO RICH SO CAN'T AFFORD THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS THAT EVERY MECHANIC (I PAID TO INSPECT BY THE WAY) IS QUOTING ME. NOTHING MUCH TO ADD TO THIS DESCRIPTION BECAUSE NO ONE IS GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ANYWAY. ISSUE HAS BEEN ON LOCAL NEWSCASTS SO MY INSIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION OF FILING COMPLAINT IS STRICTLY TO JOIN THE CAUSE IN MIND AND SPIRIT. BY NO MEANS TRYING TO SOUND INSENSITIVE INSTEAD TRUTHFUL; IT'S CLEAR SOMEONE WILL HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THINGS CHANGE, JUST HOPE ISN'T IS ME.
THE FLOORBOARDS ON MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA ARE CORRODING AND RUSTING OUT. YOU CAN TOUCH THE FLOOR CARPER FROM THE BOTTOM! THIS IS HAPPENING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR MAKE/MODEL AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. I AM NOT SURE BUT THE REPAIR COSTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE FOR THIS TYPE OF WORK.
ON A RECENT SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE VISIT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA HAD A HOLE IN THE FLOOR PAN. MY ALTIMA IS IN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH LESS THAN 42,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL NISSAN, AND IT COULD COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX IT. IT WAS ALSO EXPLAINED THAT NISSAN HAS A PLATE THAT COULD BE ORDERED FOR $700, WHICH WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. YOU CAN BUY A NEW ALTIMA FRONT FLOOR PAN FROM A COMPANY ON THE INTERNET FOR $79.95. WHY IS NISSAN GOUGING THE CONSUMER BY CHARGING $700. SHAME ON YOU NISSAN FOR ADDING INSULT TO INJURY. NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR. THIS SHOULD CERTAINLY WARRANT A RECALL BY NISSAN DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, THUS CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN PARK, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WERE HOLES IN THE FLOOR BOARD OF THE VEHICLE UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AREA. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
WHEN I WAS WORKING ON THE BRAKES ON MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA, I PLACED MY FLOOR JACK UNDERNEATH THE CAR I REALIZED THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARD IS STARTING TO RUST THROUGH TO THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. WHEN I WENT TO PASSENGER SIDE THE FLOOR BOARD WAS STARTING TO DO THE SAME THING. BOTH SIDES ARE STARTING TO ROT ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. I FIND THIS UNBELIEVABLE THAT A CAR THAT IS SO WELL KEPT COULD HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS SOMETHING NISSAN NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE AS A DESIGN FLAW. I HAVE HAD OTHER VEHICLES THAT NEVER HAD FLOOR BOARDS RUST AWAY SO PREMATURELY. IF NISSAN DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS A DESIGN FLAW THIS WILL BE MY LAST NISSAN BOUGHT FROM THE CAR COMPANY. I HAVE BEEN VERY LOYAL TO THE BRAND. I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE WHAT THE REPAIR COST WOULD BE.
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO THE 2005 SUMMARY: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAN OVERHEAT CAUSING A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR. CONSEQUENCE: IF THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION, THE ENGINE MAY STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT A LOW SPEED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
LAST YEAR, I NOTICED MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAD APPEARED. I HAD THE CODE CHECKED AND IT WAS THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. I HAD THIS PART REPLACED AND IT DROVE FINE FOR A WHILE. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO, THIS LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE SENSOR HAD GONE BAD AGAIN. THIS CAUSES MY CAR SO DRIVE VERY SLUGGISH AND GO DEAD WHEN DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SAW WHERE NISSAN HAD A RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR THIS PART ON THE SAME YEAR/MAKE/MODEL OF MY CAR. I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY SAID MY CAR WASN'T COVERED UNDER THEIR RECALL AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP ME. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS GONE BAD. I THINK MY CAR SHOULD BE COVERED AS WELL. THEY TOLD ME TO REPORT THIS ISSUE TO NHTSA.
MY GAS GUAGE READ HALF, WHILE TURNING CAR RAN OUT OF GAS. POWER STEERING AND BRAKES FAILED WHEN ENGINE SHUT OFF. FORTUNATELY I WAS TURNING INTO INSIDE LANE ON 8 LANE STREET BECAUSE IT TOOK ALL 5 LINES TO SAFEL ROLL TO STOP. AFTER ASKING NISSAN 700 TO CHECK FUEL SYSTEM SENSO 4/BOLT 1 PLUG SOLID PIECE. WENT TO AAA $150 TO CHECK AND DETERMINED GUAGE NOT SENSOR. $600 TO MAYBE REPAIR PART. CALLED NISSAN 6 BOLTS 1 PLUG TO REPLACE GUAGE MODULE WITH 3RD PARTY REPAIRED USED MODULE FROM ANOTHER STATE. MODULE HAS TO BE SENT PRIOR TO 3RD PARTY SENDING PART. INTERNET HORROR STORIES. 6-60 DAY TURN AROUND AND VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN WHILE PART IS OUT OF CAR. MAIN REASON: SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER ARE PART OF MODULE. MODULE REQUIRES REPROGRAMMING TO CURRENT VEHICLE MILEAGE BEFORE MOVING. NISSAN SHOULD CARRY PARTS IN STOCK DUE TO BOTH DANGEROUS SAFETY AND MILEAGE ISSUES RELATED TO FAILURE OF EITHER MODULE AR FUEL SENSOR. I AM PRETTY STRONG ALTHOUGH 66 BUT YOUGER, FEMALE OR OLDER FOLKS IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS COULD END UP IN BUILDING, TREE OR ANOTHE VEHICLE. NOT KNOWING WHEN CAR IS DIE WITHOUT WARNING IS A DIRE SAFET ISSUE.. RECALLS SHOULD BE ENFORCED BY FAILURE NUMBERS, NOT %AGE OF FAILURES PER MODEL. 50% OF A MODEL THAT SOLD 200 IS NOT AS DANGEROUS AS 50% OF 100,000 SOLD. THE 2005 ALTIMA SER WAS A VERY LIMITED MODEL OF ALTIMA BUT OEM PARTS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE UNTIL AT LEAST A MAJORITY OF THEM ARE OFF THE ROAD WHEN THE RELATE TO SAFETY. NISSAN SEEMS TO GET AWAY WITH OUT RECALLS FOR SAFETY RECALLS, HIGH FREQUENCY ISSUES, SERVICE GUAGING AND FROM WHAT I HEAR KNOWN LEMON PROBLEMS. WHY????
THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED AND WHILE DRIVING. THE BRAKE AND BATTERY LIGHTS KEPT GOING OFF AND ON. THERE WAS ALSO A CLANKING SOUND. I STOPPED AND LET CAR COOL. CONTINUED DRIVING AND NOTICED FIRE FROM MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. RAN OUT OF CAR AND IT CAUGHT FIRE 30 SECONDS AFTER FOLLOWED BY COUPLE OF EXPLOSIONS.
NOTICED THAT THE FLOOR PAN ON PASSENGER SIDE HAS A BIG RUST HOLE. DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR PAN IS STARTING TO SHOW THE RUST COMING THRU ALSO. ....UPDATED 11/13/15 *BF UPDATED 1/4/2016*JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORMAT WAS VISIBLE FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOWER STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERE CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED, THE INSPECTOR OBSERVED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD WERE ROTTED AND RUSTED THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I RECENTLY HAD MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA IN THE SHOP FOR AND OIL CHANGE & FRONT BRAKE REPLACEMENT. THE TECH REPORTED A RUST ISSUE ON THE DRIVERS & PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR PANS. HE GOT A NEARBY BODY SHOP TO GIVE A REPAIR QUOTE, WHICH IS ~$700. I TOOK A LOOK UNDER THE CAR MYSELF & WAS SHOCKED TO FIND FLOOR RUST ~18" X 9" ON PASSENGER & DRIVER FLOOR BOARDS. THE RUST HOLES ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL. THERE ARE NO OTHER RUST SPOTS ON THE CAR, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A FACTORY DEFECT. A LOOK ON LINE SHOWED WHAT I SUSPECTED; AN EPIDEMIC OF RUST IN THE SAME LOCATION ON EVERY ALTIMA! MY CAR SPENT ITS FIRST 8 YEARS IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN. THE LAST 2 HAVE BEEN IN FLORIDA. THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE-KEPT ITS ENTIRE LIFE. THE ISOLATION OF THE RUST IS VERY OBVIOUS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN PROBABLY THE MOST RELIABLE CAR I'VE EVER OWNED, WHICH MAKES THIS RUST ISSUE SO DISAPPOINTING. FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE GATHERED, NISSAN HAS NO INTENTION OF STANDING BEHIND THIS ISSUE. I HAD PLANS TO TRADE THIS CAR IN ON A NISSAN QUEST IN 2016. I WILL BE CROSSING NISSAN OFF THE LIST.

FRONT FLOORBOARDS RUSTING THOUGH, LOOKING AT OTHER COMPLAINTS THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR.
I BROUGHT MY CAR TO FIRESTONE TO HAVE NUMEROUS REPAIRS DONE ON MY CAR 6/27/15-6/30/15. WHILE THEY HAD THE CAR UP ON THE LIFT, THE TECH NOTICED AND TOLD ME THAT MY FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTING OUT AND HE COULD SEE CLEAR THROUGH TO MY CARPETING. MY WINDOWS HAVE BEEN REPEATEDLY GETTING DIRTY FROM THE INSIDE AND I COULD NEVER FIGURE OUT WHY. I HAVE ASTHMA AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUMES THAT ARE ENTERING MY VEHICLE. THIS NOW EXPLAINS WHY I FEEL THE NEED TO USE MY INHALER MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN I'M IN MY CAR OR GETTING OUT OF MY CAR ON SHORTER TRIPS. FOR INSTANCE, I HAVE A 1.5 MILE RIDE TO THE TRAIN FOR MY COMMUTE TO WORK. BY THE TIME I GET TO THE TRAIN, I'LL NEED TO USE MY INHALER AGAIN ALREADY. MY CAR IS PAID OFF. I HAD PLANNED TO KEEP THIS CAR AS LONG AS I POSSIBLY COULD SO I CAN PAY DOWN DEBT. ALSO, I HAD JUST THIS PAST WEEKEND SPENT AROUND $700 IN REPAIRS ON MY CAR. I'VE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF MY CAR (I.E., REGULAR OIL CHANGES, TIRE ROTATION, ETC.). I JUST WANT NISSAN TO FIX THE PROBLEM SO I CAN KEEP MY CAR. OTHER THAN THIS ISSUE, I LOVE MY CAR. I'VE HAD VERY FEW MINOR PROBLEMS WITH IT OVER THE YEARS AND I'M OVERALL VERY HAPPY WITH IT, EXCEPT FOR THIS ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INDICATED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA AND OVER CORRECTED IN A CURVE. SHE HIT A TREE AND THE AIR BAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL DEPLOYED. SHE WAS WEARING HER SEAT BELT AND WAS HELD BACK BY THE SEAT BELT HER HEAD IMPACTING THE CENTER OR THE STEERING WHEEL. THE COVER OVER THE AIR BAG BLEW OUT HINGING ITSELF AT THE TOP AND MAKING TWO VERY POINTED AND SHARP EDGES ON EACH BOTTOM CORNER. THE RIGHT BOTTOM POINT PIERCED THE SKIN BETWEEN HER NOSE AND THE CORNER OF HER LEFT EYE MISSING IT BY LESS THAN A SIXTEENTH OF AN INCH AND BREAKING HER NOSE. THE DANGEROUS PART IS THE TWO SHARP POINTS ON THE FLAP WHERE THE AIR BIG DEPLOYED SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A DESIGN FLAW.
DRIVER SIDE FLOORBOARD IS RUSTED OUT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
THIS PAST WEEK I HAD MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND BATTERY. THEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR BRAKES. WHEN I HAPPENED TO LOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR, I FOUND THAT THE FLOOR ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES WAS ROTTING OUT. THE DEALER IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR PROBLEMS WHEN YOU TAKE IT IN, BUT NOBODY MENTIONED THE RUST PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE THE UNEXPECTED EXPENSE OF REPAIRING THE FLOOR. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN OF THE PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME NOW, BUT REFUSES TO REIMBURSEMENT OR DO A RECALL. IT MAY NOT BE A SAFETY HAZARD, UNLESS YOUR FOOT GOES THROUGH THE FLOOR, BUT SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT.
JUST FOUND OUT MY CAR'S FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTED THROUGH. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SAW THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALTIMA'S FROM 2002-2006. IT WAS NOT CAUGHT BY MY OIL CHANGE PEOPLE, AND ONLY CAME UP TODAY AS I WAS GETTING IT APPROVED FOR A SALE. THIS REPAIR TOTALS THE CAR, WHICH OBVIOUSLY PUT A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP ON ME.
PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD ROTTED OUT FROM RUST IN A WELL MAINTAINED CAR. NO OTHER SIGNS OF DAMAGING RUST ARE PRESENT.
FLOOR BOARD DRIVERS SIDE IS RUSTING OUT.

THE FLOOR OF MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS RUSTED OUT ON BOTH SIDES, THIS SHOULLD BE A RECALL BECAUSE I HAVE READ THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM
THE CAR HAD BEEN SHIFTING ERRATICALLY FOR A WHILE NOW AND, THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICE IT NOW HAS FAILED. IT BEGAN BANGING INTO GEAR WHEN TRYING TO PUT IT INTO FORWARD OR REVERSE.IT WILL NOT GO INTO FILTH GEAR AND NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH MOST OF THESE TRANSMISSION THEY HAVE NOT VOLUNTARILY RE-CALLED THEM. THERE NEEDS TO BE INTERVENTION VIA THE GOVERNMENT & A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT WILL ACTUALLY GO FORWARD AS IT SEEMS LIKE THE LAST ONE WAS VOLUNTARILY DIS-BANNED. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THE INITIATORS WERE PAID OFF.
2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 59,270 MILES AS OF 06.07.15, HAS A RUSTED FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CONSISTENT WITH THE HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS TO YOU, TO NISSAN, AND AS OUTLINED ON THE TODAY SHOW. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, ONLY OWNER, GARAGED SINCE PURCHASE AND SHORTLY DUE TO NISSAN'S DESIGN AND ENGINEERING DEFECTS TWO THINGS WILL HAPPEN: 1. THE FLOOR BOARD WILL BE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND ALLOW EXHAUST FUMES AND WATER INTO THE CAR. 2. THE VALUE OF MY CAR WHICH I HAVE SPENT CONSIDERABLE TIME AND EFFORT MAINTAINING WILL DIMINISH SIGNIFICANTLY DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN. IT IS ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL THAT NISSAN HAS NOT HAD A RECALL FOR QUALIFIED CARS, AND I 100% GUARANTEE YOU THAT MY CAR WOULD QUALIFY. SO NOW EVERY TIME IT RAINS OR I WASH THE CAR, DUE TO NISSAN'S DESIGN AND ENGINEERING DEFECTS, I'M ONE STEP CLOSER TO HAVING A BUILT-IN EXHAUST FUME AIR CONDITIONER. A MODERN DAY "FLINTSTONES" CAR IF YOU WILL. CRIMINAL!
A MECHANIC, DURING AN UNRELATED REPAIR, REPORTED HE COULD SEE CARPET FROM THE UNDERNEATH MY CAR AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION DISCOVERED TWO HOLES IN THE FLOORBOARDS ON THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SIDES (FRONT SEAT). I TOOK THIS IN FOR AN ESTIMATE AND IT WILL COST $700-1000 TO REPAIR. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN...THESE FLOORBOARDS SHOULD NOT RUST COMPLETELY THROUGH LIKE THIS. I HAVE CHILDREN AND AM WORRIED THAT ROAD DEBRIS OR SOMETHING RIPPING THROUGH THE CARPET FROM THE INSIDE COULD CAUSE INJURY OR WORSE AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
MY CAR STARTED MAKING AN ENGINE RATTLING NOISE AS IF I NEEDED OIL. I TOOK MY CAR TO A MECHANIC AND HAD THE OIL AND FILTER CHANGED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE NOISE CONTINUED AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN LOUDER AND MY CAR HESITATES WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE. SOMETIMES WHEN I TRY TO START MY CAR, IT HESITATES AND WILL NOT START. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE MY CRANKSHAFT WAS GOING BAD. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET FOR THOSE KINDS OF PROBLEM WITH MY CAR AND SAW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS ITEM, BUT MY VIN DIDN'T SHOW THAT MINE WAS ONE OF THE ONES THAT WAS RECALLED. I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, I BOUGHT IT USED FROM A CAR DEALERSHIP. I NEED FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BE REPAIRED WITHOUT COST TO ME BECAUSE THIS IS NOT MY FAULT.
MY REAR DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE CONTINUES TO HAVE ISSUES AFTER 4 REPAIRS THE CALIPERS , ROTORS, PADS, LINES EVERYTHING HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT THEY START TO GRIND AFTER 3 MONTHS OF DRIVING I HAVE HAD 2 DIFFERENT SHOPS WORK ON ITBUT STILL HAVING ISSUES.
SO BESIDES THE FACT THAT MY FLOOR BOARD ON MY DRIVERS SIDE HAS A HUGE HOLE IN IT, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS CAUSE ME ENOUGH PROBLEMS TO WHERE I BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH, WHEN ACCELERATING IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU CHANGE THE SENSOR. I'VE HAD MINE CHANGED FOUR TIMES. I AM ACTUALLY SICK OF THIS VEHICLE NOW AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN. TO MAKE IT WORSE I CAN'T TAKE THE CAR OUT OF TOWN BECAUSE IT WILL GET HOT THEN THE CLUTCH STICKS TO THE FLOOR. I HAVE TO LIFT IT WITH MY FOOT AND IT STILL WON'T ENGAGE, IT LOSES ALL PRESSURE. SO DRIVING LONG DISTANCE IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIX THIS BEFORE THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. I ALMOST GOT HIT BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET MY CAR TO GO INTO THIRD GEAR. RUSTED FLOOR PANEL IN THE FRONT PART OF THE CAR GOING ALL THE WAY THROUGH SO THERE IS A HOLE. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE BOTH AFFECTED.

I ASKED NISSAN TO FIX IT OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY DUE TO THIS BEING A COMMON ISSUE AMONG SEVERAL OTHER NISSAN ALTIMAS BETWEEN 2002 - 2007. NISSAN OF AMERICA SAID THEY WOULD NOT PAY TO FIX IT. I FOUND OUT ON LINE , THAT THERE IS AN INFERIOR DESIGN FLAW WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS,THAT INVOLVES WATER ACCUMULATION AND SEVERE RUSTING CLEAR THRU BOTH THE INNER AND LOWER FLOOR BOARDS, ON MOST 2002 TO 2006 NISSAN'S. I CHECKED MY VEHICLE AND FOUND ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE,I HAVE A 6 TO 8 INCH HOLE CLEAR THRU BOTH THE INNER AND LOWER FLOOR BOARDS. THIS CONDITION IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS IN THAT IN ADDITION TO SOMEONE POSSIBLY FALLING THRU THE HOLE , ENGINE EXHAUST CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES AS WELL AS WATER CAN ENTER THE VEHICLE. THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE WIRING THAT CAN CAUSE A FIRE AND RESULT IN DEATH. TRIED TO MANUALLY SHIFT THE AUTOMATIC TRANS AND IT WOULD HIT HARD UPON GEAR SHIFTS BUT WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME THE REMAINING FEW MILES.. BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO A MECHANICS SHOP THE NEXT MORNING AND THE CODES INDICATE CAM POSITION SENSOR FAILURES. I SEE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND A RECALL FOR THIS UNDER R2022 BUT OF COURSE MY VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND ALL VEHICLES SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AS IT IS COMPLETELY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT COMES OUT OF NOWHERE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE BODY, AND WAS LOOKING TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL. IF NOT REPAIRED CAN RESULT IN EXTENSIVE REPAIRS AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF ENGINE. HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS PAST THE WARRANTY MILEAGE. A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE FLOOR UNDER THE DRIVER'S FEET IS MISSING AND A LARGE PIECE OF METAL IS HANGING DOWN. THE MECHANIC ALSO NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE NOW HAS A SMALL PATCH OF RUST.
MY SON WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE, THEN SAW SMOKE AND STOPPED THE CAR, WHEN HE RAISED THE HOOD THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE TRIED TO PUT IT OUT WITH WATER AFTER HE SAW HE COULD NOT STOP THE FLAMES CALLED 911 THE CARE TOTALLY BURNED NOTHING LEFT EXCEPT FRAME THE FIRE DEPT.
