CLUTCH PEDAL SINKS TO THE FLOOR BOARD OF MY NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5 SE, THE CLUTCH FLUID IS AT FULL CAPACITY AND WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AT A RED LIGHT OR EVEN AT A STILL MOTION THE CLUTCH GOES COMPLETELY DOWN OR OUT...I HAVE HAD MY FLUIDS CHECKED AND IT IS FULL....THIS AS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR AT 52,000 MILES AND CONTINUES TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM TO THIS VERY DAY.....NISSIAN 3.5 CARS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT NISSAN FAILS TO RECOGNIZE THIS AS A RECALL PROBLEM....BUT EVERYONE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM 3.5 - 5 (SPEEDS) WITH THIS CAR AND THIS MODEL.....THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM IN SLOWED TRAFFIC AND CANNOT SHIFT PROPERLY...THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY BE ADDRESSED AND THE PROBLEM RESOLVED....FATALITIES SHOULD NOT BE THEIR REASON TO ENFORCE THIS ISSUE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND START INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 38,000.
DEFECTIVE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT BOX WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE LEVER REMAINS STUCK WHEN SHIFTING. THE DEALER STATED THAT SOMETHING WAS SPILLED IN THE GEAR BOX. THEY PULLED THE GEAR BOX APART AND FOUND NO SPILL. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE DEALER DID NOT REASSEMBLE THE VEHICLE CORRECTLY. THE DEALER IS CHARGING $800-900 TO REPAIR THE GEAR SHIFT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO FIND ANOTHER DEALER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE NISSAN MANUFACTURER IS NOT ASSISTING. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT IS NOT BEING REPAIRED AS SUCH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TWICE WITHIN A TWO YEAR PERIOD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,803.
RECALL ID# 6827 ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAN OVERHEAT CAUSING A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR. IF THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION, THE ENGINE MAY STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT A LOW SPEED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ECM FREE OF CHARGE. CERTAIN MY 2006 ALTIMAS WHICH HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY REMEDIED UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGN 06V223 (NISSAN R0606) ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL SINCE THE REPROGRAMMING FOR 06V223 ALSO INCLUDED THIS REPROGRAMMING. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 31, 2007. HAD ECM REPROGRAMMED AND MY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS STILL OVERHEATING. NISSAN SHOULD REPLACE THE SENSOR IF THE REPROGRAMMING DOES NOT WORK. *TR
I BOUGHT MY ALTIMA NEW IN 2006. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE STRUTS REPLACED 3 TIMES AND JUST RECENTLY A TIE ROD. I HAVE 30,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND HAVE NEVER MISSED ANY GENERAL MAINTENANCE. I WORRY THAT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE. *TR

MY BRAKES HAVE A HIGH PITCHED SCREECH ONLY WHEN IN REVERSE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR. I HAD IT IN TO THE GLENDALE NISSAN DEALER 3 TIMES AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THEY SAID IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE TYPE OF BRAKE IT IS. AM I SUPPOSE TO LIVE WITH IT FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR. THIS SOUND IS VERY ABNORMAL. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR OVERHEATED. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE GEAR SELECTOR FAILED TO SHIFT FROM PARK INTO THE DRIVE POSITION. THE GEAR WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM DRIVE INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE GEAR SHIFT SOLENOID. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO ORANGE LIQUID SPILLING INTO THE CONSOLE CAUSING A WIRING SHORTAGE. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WAS $922. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO LIQUID SPLILLED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO ROCK THE VEHICLE IN A BACK AND FORTH MOTION TO ALLOW THE GEAR SELECTOR TO SHIFT INTO THE SELECTED GEAR. THE CONTACT WOULD ENGAGE IN THE ROCKING MOTION OF THE VEHICLE WHICH WOULD TEMPORARILY CORRECT THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAD NOT REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
HAD TO REPLACE ENGINE ON NISSAN ALTIMA 06 WITH ONLY 33,000 MI DEALER WOULD NOT GIVE THE REASON WHY. FRONT STRUTS NEEDS REPLACING AFTER 39,000. ALSO REPLACE TRANSMISSION SEAL@39,000MI. *TR

MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA (6,500 MILES) WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALER. DURING THE PAST MONT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH MY CLUTCH PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN PRESSED AND NOT RETURNING. I CHECKED ON LINE AND IDENTIFIED THAT APPARENTLY WITH THE 6 CYL. ENGINE AND STANDARD TRANSMISSION THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE BREAK DOWN OF THE DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID THAT IS USED IN THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER. MANY SITES RECOMMEND THE HIGHER BOILING TEMPERATURE OF THE DOT 4 OR 5.1. THE DEALERSHIP INSISTS THAT DOT 3 IS SUFFICIENT HOWEVER IN TALKING TO OTHER ALTIMA OWNERS ON LINE IT IS A RECURRING PROBLEM. *TR
2006 NISSAN ALTIMA SER CLUTCH SINKS TO THE FLOOR AND PREVENTS USE OF GEARS. HAPPENS ONCE A MONTH IN TRAFFIC OR ON HOT DAYS. NISSAN HAS NOT YET FIXED THE PROBLEM. IT IS DANGEROUS BEING STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. DURING BRAKE APPLICATION HE INTERMITTENTLY HEARD METAL GRINDING. THE DEALER HAS MADE FIVE ATTEMPTS TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE , BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE BRAKES FOUR TIMES. HOWEVER THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. A REPRESENTATIVE WITH THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HIM REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
I HAVE 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA, FIRST, MY CAR WOULDN'T START UNTIL ABOUT THE FIFTH OR SEVENTH TRY..TOOK AND GOT THAT FIXED THEN THE DEALER HAD TO RE-PROGRAM MY KEY.. THEN AFTER ONE WEEK OF DRIVING.... THE FAILURE OCCURS THE MOST WHEN AT A STOP OR APPROACHING A STOP. THE CONTACT MUST PULL OFF THE ROAD AND MAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER THE STALLING OCCURS. THE DEALER IDENTIFIED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AS THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AS NOTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE.
SUBJECT CRANK POSITION SENSOR. SUBJECT CAR 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5. RECALL WAS RECEIVED ABOUT THE SAME TIME THE CAR STARTED DYING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS THE ENGINE WILL DIE CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN THE CAR LOOSES POWER AND POWER STEERING STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WHEN TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF, THE CAR LOOSES POWER FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 SECONDS THEN VIOLENTLY JERKS REGAINING POWER. NISSAN DEALER HAS STATED THAT THIS IS AN ECM PROBLEM AND THAT A REPROGRAM WILL FIX THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AND THE REPROGRAM OF THE ECM WAS COMPLETED. NOW THE CAR DIES MORE FREQUENTLY AND NOW IT TAKES CONSIDERABLE CRANKING TO START THE CAR WHEN WARM. APPROXIMATELY 2 MIN. TO RESTART. NISSAN HAS TRIED TO "BAND AID" A FAULTY CRANK POSITION SENSOR WITH AN ECM REPROGRAM THAT IS NOT WORKING. THE CAR ABRUPTLY DYING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND CAN EASILY LEAD TO UNCALLED FOR INJURIES AND DEATHS STEMMING FROM THIS FAULTY SENSOR. I AGREE THAT THE UPGRADED ECM PROGRAM SHOULD READ BOTH THE CAM POSITION SENSOR AND CRANK POSITION SENSOR IN TANDEM AS A REDUNDANT FEATURE BUT IF THE PROBLEM IS WITH A LEAKY SENSOR OR A BAD SOLDER JOINT IN THE SENSOR, THE SENSOR SHOULD BE REPLACED UNDER A RECALL. *TR
ENGINE SHUT OFF GOING BETWEEN 60-70 MPH WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS 18 WHEELER ON 3 LANE INTERSTATE 35. HAD HEADLIGHT REPLACED 4 DAYS BEFORE INCIDENT AND WAS ADVISED ABOUT A RECALL, CHOOSE TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK DONE AT THAT TIME ALSO. SERVICE ADVISOR CLAIMED THAT THE RECALL HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MALFUNCTION, SAID THEY HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE CAR STARTED AND NOTED SOMETHING ABOUT THE RPM'S, SAID THEY TEST DROVE THE CAR AND IT HASN'T STALLED. SAID THEY KNOW IT HAS A PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE IT. TODAY IS 04-30-08, THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE 04-19-08. SERVICE ADVISOR STOPPED CALLING ON 04-24-07. HAVE COMPLAINED TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WHO FINALLY RETURNED MY CALL TODAY STATING THAT THEY TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES TOTAL AND THEY CLAIM THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR, THAT THEY TEST DROVE IT 90 MILES AND CLEARED SOMETHING FROM THE AIR INTAKE. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER TOLD ME THIS STORY AND STOPPED CALLING ME ON 04-24-07. WHEN I ASKED THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS LADY IF SHE WOULD LOAD UP HER KIDS IN THE CAR AND GO DOWN THE INTERSTATE DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC? SHE HESITATED AND SAID YES SHE WOULD. *TR
I ONCE WAS TOLD BY BOB BELL NISSAN THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. AND NOW 2 YEARS LATER I RECEIVE A LETTER STATING THAT MY NISSAN 2006 ALTIMA IS ONE OF THE RECALL VEHICLE ON THE LIST .AND IM CONTACTING YOU FOR THIS REASON. *TR
I HAD A 2003 NISSAN ALTIMA THAT STALLED ON I95 (3) TIMES BEFORE IT WAS CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED AS A CRANK SENSOR ISSUE AND BECAME A MAJOR RECALL FOR NISSAN. IN JULY 2006 I LEASED ANOTHER NISSAN ALTIMA AFTER THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETED DAMAGED ON MY 2003 ALTIMA DUE TO ANOTHER RECALL REGARDING OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES. I INQUIRED A FEW MONTHS AGO AT A ROUTINE SERVICE VISIT IF MY CURRENT 2006 NISSAN WAS PART OF THE "CRANK SENSOR" RECALL THAT WAS RECENTLY ISSUED AND TOLD IT WAS. I HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION IN THE MAIL FROM EITHER NISSAN OR THE DEALER, THIS RECALL I WAS TOLD WAS CORRECTED DURING MY VISIT. ON SATURDAY MARCH 29,2008 I WAS DRIVING ON I95 IN THE THIRD LANE AT APPROX 65-70 MPH AND THE CAR STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST ACROSS 3 LANES AND GET HALF IN THE BREAKDOWN LANE AT WHICH TIME I DEPARTED THE CAR GOT TO A SAFE AREA OUT OF HARM'S WAY OF TRAFFIC AND CONTACTED THE STATE TROOPERS FOR ASSISTANCE. THEY CAME AND STAYED WITH ME UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND TOWED ME TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP. I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR SINCE THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO START AGAIN WITHOUT STALLING WAS CONTACTED ON MONDAY MARCH 31, 2008 BY THE DEALER TO LET ME KNOW THE CAR STARTED NORMALLY THEY HAD DROVE IT FOR SEVERAL MILES AND NO PROBLEM. THE COMMENT MADE WAS THEY WILL DRIVE AGAIN ON TUESDAY AND IF NO ISSUES THEY CAN'T EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. SINCE I ALREADY HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH MY 2003 ALTIMA AND SAME CAR DEALER I'M CONFIDENT THIS PROBLEM WILL REOCCUR AGAIN AND THIS TIME ONCE AGAIN ENDANGER MY LIFE AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD WITH ME AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. PLEASE ASSIST ME IN GETTING THEIR ATTENTION FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS REGARDING THIS LIFE THREATENING ISSUE. MARCH 3, 2008 - 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5L - NOT STARTING; TAKEN INTO NISSAN AND THE ECM WAS REPROGRAMMED. MARCH 21, 2008 BACK AT NISSAN FOR SIMILAR PROBLEM - NISSAN DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND PROBLEM. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE THAT THE ENGINE CAN STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING ON MARCH 21ST...AFTER TWICE HAVING THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
I HAD THE VEHICLE REVIEWED ON APRIL 23, 2013 WITH YOUR ELHART MICHIGAN NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKES PINS AND SLIDES HAD NO LUBRICATION IN THEM WHEN MY WIFE PERSONALLY WATCHED THE MECHANIC LUBRICATE THEM WHEN THE MOST RECENT PADS WERE INSTALLED 2 WEEKS AGO. ONE OF THE PINS IS AN AFTERMARKET BECAUSE THE EXISTING ONE WAS FROZEN AT THE SERVICING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I QUESTIONED THE NISSAN SHOP MANAGER WHO CALLED ME REGARDING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR MAINTENANCE OF THIS PARTICULAR AREA OF THE VEHICLE AND HE INDICATED THAT IT IS NOT MENTIONED. I AM NOW IN MY WORDS "STUCK" WITH A SAFETY PART OF MY CAR WHICH I MUST WATCH RELIGIOUSLY AND I CAN EXPECT TO SPEND $1000'S OF DOLLARS IN PARTS AND MAINTENANCE. THIS CAR DID NOT YET HAVE 60,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS ALREADY GONE THROUGH ALL 4 ROTORS 2 SETS OF FRONT PADS AND 4 SETS OF REAR PADS. MY FORD VEHICLE HAS 240,000 MILES AND IS ON ITS 3RD SET OF PADS AND SECOND SET OF FRONT ROTORS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT A PRESTIGIOUS BRAND OF NISSAN IS EXPECTING THEIR CUSTOMERS TO SWALLOW THIS. YES, I AM ALSO ONE OF THOSE CUSTOMERS WHERE YOU REPLACED MY ENGINE AT 11,000 MILES BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL USAGE. I KNOW THAT DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING MISTAKES OCCUR, ITS HOW THE MANUFACTURER RESPONDS TO THE MISTAKES THAT DETERMINE THE DIFFERENCE IN OBTAINING CUSTOMER LOYALTY. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE CNN CONSUMER SITE TO REPORT THIS AS THE INTERNET IS FULL OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WHERE THE OWNERS ARE BEING TOLD THAT IT IS THEIR FAULT. *TR
COMING HOME FROM GRADUATE SCHOOL EARLY EVENING, DOG CAME OUT OF NO WHERE RAN INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR, THE AIR BAG WENT OFF, FRACTURED MY ELBOW- HAD TO HAVE A SPECIALIST DO SURGERY ON THE ELBOW. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT THE VEHICLE HIT AN OBSTRUCTION IN THE ROAD. THE AIR BAGS IMPACT SHATTERED THE ELBOW OF THE DRIVER. THE AIR BAG ALSO DAMAGED THE DRIVERS NOSE. THE DRIVER UNDERWENT SURGERY AND HAD METAL PLATES AND 75 SCREWS INSERTED INTO HER ARM TO CREATE A NEW ELBOW. AFTER SURGERY THE DRIVER HAD TO ATTEND PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR 6 MONTHS TO LEARN HOW TO USE THE NEW ELBOW. THE DRIVER IS ALSO NOW UNDERGOING A NEW SURGERY TO HAVE A DEVIATED SEPTUM REPAIRED CAUSED BY INJURY OF THE AIR BAG.
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R WITH A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE AND A 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. PERIODICALLY THROUGHOUT THE LAST 30 MONTHS THE CLUTCH WOULD FALL TO THE FLOOR WHILE DRIVING, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SHIFT. THE SOLUTION WAS TO CATCH THE CLUTCH WITH THE DRIVER'S TOE AND RAISE IT MANUALLY BACK INTO POSITION EACH TIME PRIOR TO A SHIFT. THIS IS DIFFICULT, DISTRACTING, AND DANGEROUS AND COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I REPORTED IT TO MY DEALERSHIP BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE IT AND THEREFORE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS MONTH, AT 38,000 MILES, THE CLUTCH HAS FALLEN TO THE FLOOR AND HAS REMAINED STUCK THERE, RENDERING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY UNDRIVEABLE. THE DEALER NOW RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE MASTER AND SLAVE CLUTCH CYLINDERS, HOWEVER THEY INTEND TO CHARGE $709.97 FOR IT. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART SINCE IT HAS HAD PROBLEMS FROM 6,000 MILES ON AND IS REPORTED BY MANY OTHER NISSAN OWNERS AS WELL ON INTERNET FORUMS. ON 11/27/2007, I CAME HOME TO FIND BOTH OF THE FRONT WINDOWS OF MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA DOWN. THE MYSTERY TO ME IS HOW MY WINDOWS GOT ROLLED DOWN. THE ALARM ON MY CAR WAS ON, THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOCKED AND MY LOCK BAR WAS STILL ON THE STEERING COLUMN. LUCKILY NOTHING WAS STOLEN AND MY NEIGHBORS HAD TAPED PLASTIC ON MY WINDOWS TO AVOID DAMAGE IF IT HAD RAINED. PICTURES WERE TAKEN AND THE POLICE WERE CALLED. OF COURSE, THE MYSTERY STILL REMAINS AS TO HOW THE WINDOWS WERE ROLLED DOWN. NO ONE HAS A KEY TO MY CAR AND EACH MORNING/EVENING, I ENSURE THAT THE ALARM IS ON. IF THIS IS SOME SORT OF DEFECT, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. IS IT A WAY FOR SOMEONE TO ROLL DOWN MY ELECTRIC WINDOWS WITHOUT TURNING THE IGNITION? NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 07V-527 SUMMARY THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAN OVERHEAT CAUSING A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING WHERE I WORK. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AND WENT OVER THE CURB, IT ACCELERATED A SECOND TIME AND SPED BETWEEN TWO TREES, THEN BETWEEN A TREE AND BUILDING AND ENDED UP FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE PARKING SPOT ON THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING. THE CAR BASICALLY DID A FULL "U" FROM THE PARKING SPOT TO THE SIDEWALK. MY FEELING IS THAT I HAD THE WHEEL TURNED TO THE RIGHT TO PARK IN THE PARKING SPOT AND DID NOT HAVE TIME TO STRAIGHTEN THE STEERING WHEEL SO THE CAR CONTINUED TO GO TO THE RIGHT, HENCE THE "U". THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS WENT OFF. I HAD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS EXPERIENCED THE CAR HESITATING WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT. THE CAR WOULD HESITATE AND THEN RESUME AT A NORMAL SPEED. ONCE THE CAR RESUMED SPEED, THE CAR SEEMED FINE. *TR
GAS DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. THE HINGES ARE BENT. HAVE NOTICED THIS ON MANY NISSAN ALTIMAS. FORCING THE DOOR CLOSED, FOR SAFETY REASONS, HAS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE SURROUNDING THE GAS DOOR. THE PAINT IS CHIPPING AND WILL SOON BEGIN TO RUST AROUND THIS AREA.
ON 10/22/06 I PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA IN VA. IT HAS A REMANUFACTORED ENGINE AND ONLY HAD 35 MILES. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT 3,400 MILES AND MOVED BACK TO GA. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE PB023 QR25 ALT-SER MY06 NTB06-082 IN MAY 2007. I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT AND THEY CHANGED THE OIL (ODO 7,473). I HAD THE OIL CHANGED ON 9/1/2007 (ODO 11,885). ON 10/20/07, DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE SUDDENLY THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM EVERYWHERE AND THE ENGINE DIED. THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO GO UP IN FLAMES. IT SMELL AS IF THE ENGINE WAS BURNING. (ODO 13,791). IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE IT THREW A ROD AND THERE IS A HOLE THE SIZE OF A FIST IN THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WILL BE REPLACED. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND ENGINE IN THIS VEH. I WOULD LIKE A NEW VEHICLE REPLACEMENT OR BE REFUNDED IN FULL. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE AND FEAR IT WILL CATCH FIRE. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT! AN APPOINTMENT WAS RESCHEDULED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE ON JANUARY 7, 2008. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT TO LOOK FOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43000.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ON/OFF LIGHT KEEPS INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG IS OFF, WHILE A ADULT PASSENGER OF SUFFICIENT WEIGHT IS SITTING UP RIGHT, WITH FEET FLAT ON THE FLOOR AND BACK AGAINST THE BACK OF THE SEAT IS IN THE CHAIR. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE SEAT BOTTOM ONCE BEFORE AND THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THERE IS NO STRAIGHT ANSWER TO HOW MUCH A PERSON HAS TO WEIGH, BUT ALL THREE OF THE ANSWERS HAVE BEEN UNDER THE WEIGHT OF THE OCCUPANT. NISSAN NOW SAYS TO GET INTO ANOTHER 2006 ALTIMA, BUT THERE IS NONE AVAILABLE AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHICH THE CAR IS AT RIGHT NOW. CANNOT DRIVE CAR FOR FEAR THAT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF IN A FRONTAL ACCIDENT. *TR

CAR SHAKES WHEN IDLES AS IF IT WILL TURN OFF, BUT ONLY SPORADICALLY. THIS STARTED AT 24,000 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THROWING VARIOUS CODES. DEALER HAS PUT ON NEW GAS CAP, GAS SEAL, FUEL PUMP, FUEL CANISTER AND AIR FLOW REGULATOR. CAR STILL SHAKING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN AND AFTER 11 TIMES IN THE SHOP...HERE WE GO AGAIN TO THE SHOP SO THEY CAN CHECK THE CODE, PUT IN ON VACUUM, DRIVE IT AROUND AND THEN TELL ME AGAIN IT'S ALL FIXED. I AM IN A NEVER ENDING LOOP OF BEING INCONVENIENCED WITH AN UNRELIABLE BRAND NEW CAR. DEALER WON'T BUY CAR BACK...TRADE...OR GUARANTEE A FIX. I READ ABOUT THIS TRICK ON THE INTERNET. FINALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH AND WAS EVEN HARDER TO START.
