I PURCHASED A 2006 ALTIMA NISSAN 2.5 SPECIAL EDITION IN FEB 2006. WITHIN A 6 MONTHS TIME FRAME I HAVE HAD 2 ENGINE REPLACEMENTS. THIS STILL HASN'T CORRECTED THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM NOR THE CLICKING SOUND. I HAVE ALSO BEEN INFORMED THAT THE CLICKING AND GRINDING SOUND MAY BE ATTRIBUTED TO BAD TIRES. SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER COMPANY THAT DEALS IN TIRES AND WAS INFORMED MY TIRES WERE IN GREAT CONDITION. THEN ON JAN 22 I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW STEERING WHEEL TO HELP WITH THE SOUND AND VIBRATIONS. MY NISSAN SOUNDS AND RIDES LIKE A TRUCK. NISSAN NEEDS TO JUST LIVE UP TO THE FACT THAT SOME OF THE 2006 MODELS WERE JUST NOT BUILT CORRECTLY AND COMPENSATE THE CONSUMERS THAT ARE FEELING THE AFFECTS OF BUYING A LEMON.. WHY WOULD THEY PUT THEIR REPUTATION IN JEOPARDY. DO THEY NOT REALIZE THIS COULD TURN INTO A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT. SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS HAVE HAD THEIR CARS BOUGHT BACK UNDER THE LEMON LAW BUT I'M GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM ONE OF THE NISSAN REPS. IT DOESN'T TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO KNOW THAT AFTER REPLACING 2 ENGINES IN A 6 MONTH PERIOD TO KNOW MY CAR IS A LEMON.. NISSAN HAS LOST MY RESPECT DUE TO THE NON CARING NATURE THEY HAVE REPRESENTED. *JB
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 28 K MILES CONTROL BUTTONS FOR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. REPORTED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AFTER MONTHS OF HAVING TO HOLD DOWN MANUALLY CONTROL UP AND DOWN OPERATIONS OF WINDOW. NISSAN DEALERSHIP ASKED WHO HAD PERFORMED PREVIOUS WORK ON WINDOWS AND I TOLD THEM NO ONE ADVISED DEALERSHIP TO CHECK WINDOW FOR POSSIBLE # TO VERIFY TRUTH ON OUR BEHALF. DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT ME PAYING THE COST OF $ 100.00 SAYS SOME HOW OR ANOTHER WINDOW UNADJUSTED ITSELF AND NOW NEEDS TO BE READJUSTED. ADVISED DEALER I WAS NOT GOING TO PAY FOR A DEFECTIVE WINDOW. WINDOW WILL ROLL ITSELF DOWN MUST HOLD FIRMLY THE CONTROL BUTTON IN ORDER TO SECURE SAFETY OF VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE ENGINE FAILED AT 6,000 MILES AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE ENGINE (RECALL#06V046000). THE CONTACT STATED THAT A NEW ENGINE WAS INSTALLED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
NISSAN ALTIMA EQUIPPED WITH THE 2.5S ENGINE. PURCHASE DATE: FEB 28, 2006. SOON AFTER PURCHASE I MADE A TRIP TO BEAUFORT, SC. ON RETURN HOME I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND FOUND IT ((OIL) TO BE BLACK, SMELLING BURNT, AND CONSIDERABLY BELOW THE ADD LEVEL. AT THIS POINT, 1676 MILES, I CHANGED THE OIL. CHECKED OIL LEVEL ONCE MORE AT 3165 MILES AND FOUND THE OIL DOWN 1/2 QUART. DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO VERIFIED THE OIL LEVEL. I ADDED THE OIL OF MY CHOICE. RECHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AGAIN AT 3927 AND FOUND IT TO BE DIRTY AND DOWN 1/2 QUART. CHANGED OIL ONCE MORE. IN FAIRNESS TO THE OWNERS, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THEY BE REIMBURSED THE FULL PURCHASE PRICE PLUS INCIDENTAL EXPENSES. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER WINDOWS HAVE AN AUTOMATIC FEATURE, WHICH ALLOWED THEM TO MOVE UP AND DOWN WHEN THE BUTTON WAS PRESSED. HE STATED THAT THERE WAS NO SAFETY FEATURE INSTALLED TO PREVENT THE WINDOWS FROM MOVING UP IF SOMETHING WAS IN THE WAY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FEATURE WAS STANDARD EQUIPMENT AND DID NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I BOUGHT A NEW NISSAN ALTIMA WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR A REPAIR THEY TOLD ME THAT MY ENGINE WAS DAMAGED AND THE CAR IS BEING RECALLED MEANWHILE NISSAN DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO MY OIL GOES TO QUICKLY AND MY GAS IS BEING EATEN UP I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR KNOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I WANT A NEW CAR CAN YOU HELP. *NM
I PURCHASED A 2006 ALTIMA 2.5 S IN MAR 2006, IT DRIVES GOOD WITH LESS NOTICEABLE WEAVE ON BLACKTOP HIGHWAYS, HOWEVER IT IS UNSTABLE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE EVEN AT 60-70 MPH, IT DRIFTS LEFT AND RIGHT WITHOUT MOVING STEERING WHEEL, YOU HAVE TO STEADY MAKE CORRECTIONS IN STEERING WHEEL MOVEMENT TO KEEP IT FROM UNSAFELY DRIFTING IN THE OTHER LANE. THE DEALER HAS ROTATED TIRES, BALANCED. EVEN TOOK A RIDE WITH ME AND SAID HE NOTICED NOTHING REALLY. I DROVE ANOTHER CAR AT DEALERSHIP JUST LIKE IT, IT DOES THE SAME THING ON INTERSTATE, I DRIVE 100 MILES DAILY TO AND FROM ON INTERSTATE SO IT IS NOT AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY BECAUSE IT IS EVIDENT THE CAR IS UNSTABLE FOR INTERSTATE USE, ALMOST UNDRIVEABLE IF WIND BLOWING SLIGHTLY. *NM
THE HEATER/AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER TENDS TO NOT OPERATE PERIODICALLY! EXAMPLES: ON A COLD MORNING, THE CAR HAD TO BE RETURNED HOME SINCE THERE WAS NO BLOWER. ON A DAMP DAY, THE INTERIOR WINDOWS COULD NOT BE DEFOGGED DUE TO NO BLOWER. ON A DAMP MORNING, THE FROST ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE WINDSHIELD COULD NOT BE CLEARED BY THE DEFROST SETTING SINCE THE BLOWER FAILED TO OPERATE. WE WONDER HOW SAFE THIS VEHICLE WOULD BE DURING A PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN! OR DURING A SNOWFALL? PLEASE ADVISE ON WHAT ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO REMEDY THIS SERIOUS DEFECT. MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS BEEN BURNING/CONSUMING OIL SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN WILLING TO HELP ME AND HAS DIRECTED ME TO NISSAN CORPORATION. I HAVE TRIED TO CALL THEM VARIOUS TIMES BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION. THEY HAVE ALSO FAILED TO CONTACT ME. I FOUND OUT THAT MY CAR HAS A RECALL AND THAT IT MAY CATCH ON FIRE. I WOULD THINK THAT NISSAN WOULD BE CONCERN ENOUGH FOR MY SAFETY TO AT LEAST SEND ME A LETTER. *NM
PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA IN JANUARY OF 2006. WHEN CAR HAD ABOUT 2800 MILES ON IT, WE WERE EATING DINNER AT A RESTAURANT ACROSS FROM OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. WHEN WE STARTED THE ENGINE TO LEAVE, IT MADE A HORRIBLE CLATTERING NOISE. MY HUSBAND CHECKED THE OIL AND IT DID NOT REGISTER ON THE DIP STICK. WE IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT ACROSS THE STREET AND SHOWED IT TO THE SALES MANAGER SINCE SERVICE DEPT WAS CLOSED. WE HAD TO LEAVE CAR THERE OVER THE WEEKEND. WHEN SERVICE DEPT CHECKED OIL, THEY SAID IT WAS LOW AND CHANGED THE OIL, BUT DID NOT MEASURE HOW LOW JUST SAID ABOUT 1 AND 1/2 QUARTS LOW. I WENT TO PICK THE CAR UP AND THEY TRIED NOT TO PROVIDE ME WITH A SERVICE TICKET SAYING IT WAS NO CHARGE. I TOLD THEM I WAS NOT LEAVING WITH OUT A SERVICE TICKET SAYING THAT MY BRAND NEW CAR WAS SO LOW ON OIL THAT IT WAS NOT EVEN REGISTERING ON THE DIP STICK!! THEIR ANSWER WAS WE AREN'T EVEN CHARGING NISSAN FOR IT - LIKE I CARE!! ANYWAY I GOT MY TICKET. WENT BACK A FEW WEEKS LATER AND WAS LOW AGAIN - THEN THEY DECIDED TO REALLY TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY AND CHANGED THE OIL AGAIN AND SAID TO COME BACK IN 500 MILES. WE DID AND SERVICE MANAGER SAID IT WAS DEFINITELY USING OIL AND HE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THAT WAS ABOUT THE TIME THE RECALL CAME OUT IN THE NEWSPAPER. WE ARE STILL WAITING ON OUR ENGINE. HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THIS SINCE ABOUT MARCH. MY HUSBAND WAS TOLD BY SERVICE DEPT THAT NISSAN HAD CHANGED RING MANUFACTURERS AND HAD RECEIVED A FAULTY BATCH. I AM TIRED OF GOING TO NISSAN EVERY 700 MILES TO HAVE MY OIL CHECKED. THAT IS WHY I BOUGHT A NEW CAR!!! WE REQUESTED A NEW CAR, BUT LIKE ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WITH COMPLAINTS, THEY JUST LAUGHED. I GUESS IT IS GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE GETTING KILLED IN A FIRE FOR THEM TO GET OFF OF THE REARS AND ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING!! I AM TIRED OF HEARING WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO YET!! *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY TIME THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THEY MADE A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO DEALERSHIPS IN VIRGINIA. AND BOTH STATED THAT THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN OR IDLING. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE CLUTCH HAD BURNED, THE FLY WHEEL HAD HEAT DAMAGE AND THE PRESSURE PLATE WAS WARPED. THOSE COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THIS DID NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM.
PURCHASED OUR 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA IN JAN OF 2006. AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF USING THIS CAR WE NOTICED THE TRUNK DID NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. WHEN THE CAR IS ON A FLAT SURFACE AS IT WAS WHEN WE PURCHASED IT THE TRUNK LID WILL STAY OPEN, IF THE CAR IS SITUATED ON ANY KIND OF INCLINE THE TRUNK WILL SLAM SHUT. MY CHILDREN WERE INJURED SEVERAL TIMES AS WAS I WHEN THE TRUNK SLAMMED DOWN ON OUR HEADS. THE REASON IS VISUAL, THE TRUNK WAS POORLY DESIGNED, THERE IS NO TENSION AT ALL. THE TRUNK ACTUALLY SWINGS LIKE A PENDULUM . I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP FOUR TIMES OVER THIS PAST YEAR. TODAY, 3/22/2007 THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FINALLY DID THE NEEDED REPAIRS. THEY AGREE THE DESIGN IS POOR. EVERYONE WHO HAS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA WITHOUT THE BACK SPOILER SHOULD BE NOTIFIED OF THIS DEFECT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE EXAMINED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING OIL QUICKLY DUE TO THE PISTON RINGS ON CYLINDERS ONE AND FOUR. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE PRESSURE ON THOSE RINGS WAS TOO LOW, MAKING THE VEHICLE CONSUME OIL MUCH FASTER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V223000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25.
I PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA ON DECEMBER 28, 2005. AT 60 - 65 MPH I HEARD A LOUD AND STEADY HUMMING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD AND A WHISTLING SOUND THROUGH THE WHEELS. ON DECEMBER 30, 2005 AT APPROXIMATELY 11:54 AM WHILE EXITING HIGHWAY 59 SOUTH ON THE RAMP TO BELTWAY 8 NORTH IN HOUSTON, TEXAS THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO PERFORM IN THE NORMAL WAY. I HAD STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AS I ENTERED THE RAMP AND THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE WIDE SWERVING ARCS FROM SIDE TO SIDE. WHEN I TRIED TO CENTER THE STEERING WHEEL IT WOULD JUST SWERVE. THINKING I NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN MORE TO GET BETTER CONTROL OF THE CAR, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AGAIN, THAT TIME THE CAR STARTED TO SPIN AROUND. IT WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL. AN ONCOMING VEHICLE HIT ME FROM BEHIND AND THAT VEHICLE WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. MIRACULOUSLY, THERE WERE NO INJURIES. HOWEVER, I WAS HEADED INTO A VERY BUSY STRETCH OF BELTWAY 8 AND HAD THE FAILURE OCCURRED THERE, SEVERE INJURIES AND DEATH WOULD HAVE BEEN THE OUTCOME. THE WEATHER ON THAT DAY WAS SUNNY AND IN THE HIGH 70'S. THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE ROAD TO PREVENT TRACTION. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO THEN TOLD ME IT HAD TO BE HANDLED BY NISSAN. FIVE WEEKS LATER NISSAN SENT A REPRESENTATIVE TO CHECK THE CAR OUT AND THEY REPORTED NO MANUFACTURING DEFECTS. THE CAR IS AWAITING PARTS TO REPAIR THE BODY WORK, BUT I HAVE SERIOUS RESERVATIONS ABOUT A RE-OCCURRENCE OF THIS PROBLEM. I KNOW THAT IT WAS SOMETHING THAT MALFUNCTIONED ON THE CAR AND I FEEL AT THE MERCY OF THE MANUFACTURER. THEY ARE ENDANGERING MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHERS. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA, HE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 06V223000 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT REFUSE TO AUTHORIZE THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT IS REQUESTING A REFUND AND HAS FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CONSUMER AFFAIRS. CONSUMER AFFAIRS STATED THEY WOULD CALL HIM IN 24 HOURS AND HE HASN'T RECEIVED A CALL. THE DEALER IS REQUESTING THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT REFUSED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE IS 19,000. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON DECEMBER 28, 2005. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FAILURES TO DATE. *NM
ACCELERATING WILL OCCASIONALLY RESULT IN CLUTCH PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR BOARD. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR, UNABLE TO GET THE CAR INTO ANY GEAR. SOMETIMES ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL CLUTCH OPERATION BY PULLING ON PEDAL. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS TO DEALERSHIPS IN FIRST YEAR AND A HALF AFTER PURCHASE. CLUTCH AND MASTER CYLINDER CHECKED FOR LEAKS. FLUID REPLACED OR TOPPED OFF. UNABLE TO DUPLICATE SYMPTOMS AT DEALERSHIP. PROBLEM REMAINS. *TR
AS I WAS CONCLUDING MY BUSINESS DAY BY DRIVING HOME, MY FRONT RIGHT TIRE WENT FLAT. CAR DRIVEN TO A LOCAL TIRE DEALER, HE REFUSES TO FIX TIRE AND SAYS TAKE IT BACK TO DEALER BECAUSE THE TIRE WAS A FACTORY DEFAULT. MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE CAR ON NOVEMBER 2, 2005. SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED HIM THAT THE TIRE DAMAGE WAS MY FAULT, AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH A NEW TIRE. A FEW DAYS LATER, I NOTICED THAT MY ENGINE COVER WAS HANGING. I CALLED MY SALESMAN, AND HE INFORMED ME THAT IT PROBABLY OCCURRED WHEN THE TIRE WENT FLAT. NISSAN REPLACED THE TWO SCREWS, AND I WAS ON MY WAY. ALTHOUGH I HAD EXPERIENCED CHALLENGING TIMES WITH THE CAR, NOTHING PREPARED ME FOR THE HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE THAT OCCURRED ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2005. I SLOWLY DROVE DOWN THE GRASSY INCLINE AND PROCEEDED LEFT. I AM CERTAIN THAT I WAS NOT GOING FASTER THAN FIVE MILES PER HOUR BECAUSE 1) I WAS ON A HILL, 2) MY MOTHER WAS IN THE CAR, 3) I WAS TURNING LEFT, AND 4) I WAS ENTERING A TWO-LANE STREET. THE CAR WAS ON THE STREET, AND I WAS STRAIGHTENING THE CAR TO ENSURE THAT WE WERE SAFELY IN THE RIGHT LANE TO CONTINUE DOWN THE STREET. WHILE I WAS COMPLETING THESE ACTIONS, THE CAR SUDDENLY TURNED LEFT AS IF IT HAD A LIFE OF ITS OWN. IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING AN SUV AND A MAILBOX, I HAD TO STEER FOR MY LIFE, MY MOTHER''S LIFE, AND THIS NOW MANIAC CAR. I ENDED UP GOING UP THE EMBANKMENT, DOWN THE EMBANKMENT, UP AND DOWN AGAIN. FINALLY, I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR AT MY DECEASED UNCLE''S DRIVEWAY. AMAZINGLY, ONLY MY TIRE AND TIRE AXLE WERE DESTROYED. MY MOTHER AND I WERE SAFE. I AM NOW CERTAIN THAT AFTER TWO TIRE INCIDENTS, SEEING MY CAR SWERVE ON THE HIGHWAY, AND LISTENING TO IT CLICK AFTER POSSESSING IT FOR FIVE DAYS THAT THIS CAR IS FAULTY. *NM
IGNITION SWITCH STICKS IN LOCK POSITION. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL HARD TO THE LEFT. *JB
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 40 MPH, WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE MADE A LEFT HAND TURN IN FRONT, CAUSING ME TO HAVE A HEAD ON CRASH. DRIVERSIDE AIR BAG OPERATED PREFECT. RIGHT FRONT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY NOR THE RIGHT SEAT BELT LOCK CAUSING PASSENGER TO HIT FRONT DASH. *JB
RECENTLY PURCHASED 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED LOUD RATTLING NOISE AT HIGH SPEED ON FREEWAY, SWAYING IN STEERING AND VIBRATION FROM FRONT TIRE(S). TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY DROVE IT AND SAID COULD NOT HEAR ANYTHING. TOOK BACK A FEW DAYS LATER, WHEREUPON THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NEED VEHICLE FOR A WHOLE DAY AND WOULD NOT FIX IT RIGHT THEN AND THERE, THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK. I TOOK TO ANOTHER NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED PROBLEM TO THEM. THEY TOOK OFF THE FRONT AIR DEFLECTOR AND IT FIXED LOUD RATTLING.
