TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS TURNED OVER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN THIRTEEN MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 06V223000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SEVERE RUST AND CORROSION UNDERNEATH THE SEATS IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT FLOOR PANS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,163.
THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AT VARIOUS TIMES WITHOUT WARNING AT LOW SPEEDS AND AT IDLE - NO POWER STEERING, BRAKES, OR ACCELERATION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SET WITH OBIDSII CODE OF PO725, FAILED CRANK ANGLE SENSOR. BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGN 07V-527, AS IT IS A 2.5L 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA MANUFACTURED IN FEBRUARY OF 2006. MANUFACTURER STATES NO RECALL IN EFFECT FOR THIS VEHICLE UNDER THAT CAMPAIGN, ALTHOUGH SYMPTOMS ARE IDENTICAL TO CAMPAIGN RECALL ISSUE.CONTACTED MANUFACTURER, WHO STATED MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL, AS IT IS A RECALL FOR SPECIFIC LOCATIONS OF PRODUCTION, NOT JUST PRODUCTION DATES, WHICH WAS NOT REFERENCED IN THEIR DEFECT INFORMATION REPORT TO THE NHTSA. *TR
WHILE I HAD THE OIL CHANGED ON MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA, THE TECH NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SOME RUSTED METAL UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE. UPON INSPECTION HE FOUND A 15"X10" HOLE IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD. THIS VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 85,000 MILES AND IS GARAGED. I NOTIFIED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR INTO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, WHICH I DID ON 7/3/15. THEY TOOK PICTURES AND SENT THEM TO NISSAN CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. AFTER SEVERAL EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS GOING BACK AND FORTH , THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILES HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT A ISOLATED CASE. SEVERAL MORE NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLE. I AM HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR SAFETY REASONS AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THERE SHOULD BE A NATIONAL RECALL ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL YEAR.
MY NISSAN ALTIMA VIN # INCLUDED SEPARATELY, HAS ABOUT 90,000 MILES ON IT. IT WAS BOUGHT FEBRUARY 2007 AND HAS BEEN OWNED BY ME SINCE THEN (FIRST AND ONLY OWNER). I PERFORMED MY 90,000 MILE SERVICING TODAY AND WAS NOTIFIED BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE FLOOR BOARDS ON PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE (UNDERCARRIAGE) ARE RUSTING AND I CAN SEE A HOLE OPENING UP THERE. HE SHOWED ME WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR MY CAR TO GET FIXED AT THE SHOP. THE REST OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE SEEMED FINE. THIS INDICATES A MANUFACTURING DEFECT TO ME. I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE: MODERN VEHICLES OUGHT NOT TO ROT LIKE SO, AND SUCH A ROT EXPOSES THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER AT GREAT RISK WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. I AM GETTING EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE NOW OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS SERVED ME WELL, AND THE ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN HAS ITSELF BEEN TROUBLE FREE. HOWEVER, IF THE FLOOR BOARDS ROT LIKE THIS, I AM UNSURE ABOUT THE VEHICLE'S OVERALL STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 07V527000(ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE IDENTICAL FAILURE THAT WAS LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,138.
SIX TO EIGHT INCH ROT HOLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THE START OF ANOTHER HOLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TOO! *JS
CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO ENGINE NOT STARTING AT TIMES, AND CUTTING OUT AT STOP LIGHTS WHICH WAS A SAFETY ISSUE IN TRAFFIC. AFTER TALKING WITH NISSAN I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED JN CAMPAIGN NUMBER 07V5727000 AND I FEEL IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. THIS PART WAS REPLACED BY A PRIVATE AUTO REPAIR IN OCTOBER 2014 FOR A TOTAL OF $250.09. I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR IN APRIL OF 2014 FROM A TOYOTA USED CAR DEALERSHIP AND STARTED EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM SHORTLY THEREAFTER. PLEASE HELP ME RECOVER MY MONEY FOR REPAIRS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CLUTCH MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH INTO A MEDIAN GUARDRAIL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. WHEN DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH, THE PEDAL WOULD NOT RELEASE AND WOULD REMAIN STUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE CLUTCH, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
RUST RUST RUST!!!!! DRIVER SIDE UNDER BODY FLOOR PANEL IS RUSTED OUT. 1 OWNER (ME) ALWAYS KEEP / KEPT UP WITH SERVICE, MY CAR STARTED TO SOUND / RUN DIFFERENTLY, HAD MY HUSBAND CHECK WHERE I THOUGHT THE SOUND WAS COMING FROM, AND TO OUR SURPRISE IT WAS THE BIGGEST RUST SPOT EVER (6'12 ?) *JS
TOOK MY CAR IN FOR INSPECTION TODAY AND THEY SAID IT WILL NOT PASS AS THE PASSENGER AND DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR PANEL IS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE COST FOR REPAIR IS $2500 AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS KNOWN ISSUES BY NISSAN FOR THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN SHOULD BE PAYING FOR THIS REPAIR, THE VEHICLE YEAR IS 2006 WITH 85,000 MILES AND IS NOT EXPOSED TO SALT WATER AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN A FLOOD. I WENT TO TAKE MY CAR IN FOR INSPECTION TODAY FOR MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA AND FOUND OUT THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR PANEL IS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE METAL USED BY NISSAN AS I HAVE READ MANY ISSUES REGARDING THIS. THE COST TO REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $2500 AND I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AS NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. *TR
2006 NISSAN ALTIMA SL 3.5 V6, CANNOT READ CODES FROM ECU. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, CAR WILL TAKE OFF SLOW AND BUILD UP SPEED ALMOST LIKE IT IS HAVING A POWER SURGE. DURING DRIVING THE GAS PEDAL HAS TO BE PRESSES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO GAIN SPEED AT DANGEROUSLY SLOW RATES, AT TIMES AT A FULL STOP THE CAR TAKES A DANGEROUS AMOUNT OF TIME TO BUILD UP SPEED. *TR

A "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT INDICATES. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING HOME AROUND 9:45 PM FROM CHALMETTE, LA WHEN THE CAR GAVE NO WARNING SIGNS THAT IT WAS GOING TO STOP. I KEEP COASTING THE CAR HOME AND IT DIED. HAD THE CAR TOLD TO THE DEARLERSHIP IN SLIDELL, LA ON 4/3/14. I WAS ADVISED BY MR. DALE SHOCKLEY THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO KEEP THE CAR. CALLED AROUND 0845 TO CHECK WHAT IS WRONG BUT THEY HAD NOT LOOKED AT IT. AROUND 11:30 MR. SHOCKLEY CALLED TO SAY THE TRANSMISSION WAS GONE. I ASKED THEM HOW THAT HAPPEN BECAUSE THERE IS NO OIL UNDER MY CAR PART. THE MANAGER STATED THAT THIS JUST HAPPEN AND THEY NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WAS GOING TO GO OUT. I ASKED THEM WHY THEY DID NOT SEE IT AND THE MANAGER STATED AGAIN THEY GO OUT UNSUCCEPLY. THESE PEOPLE WANTED TO KEEP MY CAR AND TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO COST THEM $4,045 PLUS OTHER WORK. THIS IS A DISGRACE. DID THEY SEE THIS BLACK GIRL TO ROB HER. I NEED TO KNOW IF THE PART NEXT TO THE TRANSMISSION HAS A RECALL? *JS
THE CAR STALLED AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT. SINCE THIS TIME, THE CAR HAS DONE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT 25 MILES PER HOUR AND THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO PULL OVER THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND RESTART THE CAR. IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WHEN WE TOOK THE CAR INTO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, OUR 2006 ALTIMA WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,371. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 133,300.
I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR ALMOST 6 YEARS. MY BOYFRIEND DOES THE SERVICING - OIL CHANGES, BRAKES, FLUID/BELT CHANGES, ETC. ON A REGULAR, DOCUMENTED BASIS. WHEN CAR IS LIFTED, I ALWAYS DO A CHECK UNDERNEATH. CAR HAD BEEN FINE. OIL CHANGED IN OCTOBER 2014, ALL GOOD. NEW TIRES PUT ON BY GOOD YEAR IN DECEMBER 2014, ALL GOOD - JUST LET ME KNOW TO HAVE BACK BRAKES CHANGED SOON. MARCH 22, MY BOYFRIEND WAS CHANGING OIL AND PUTTING NEW PADS/SHOES ON CAR. WHILE LIFTED, I DID MY CHECK AND SAW RUST HANGING UNDERNEATH ON DRIVER'S SIDE. AFTER TAKING OFF THE RUST AND GETTING TO SOLID METAL, FOUND A APPROX 5X5IN SIZE HOLE IN MY FLOORBOARD. REST OF BASE OF CAR LOOKS PERFECT, SO FAR. CAR SHOULD NOT BE RUSTING LIKE THIS. *TR

THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IS RUSTED OUT. ABOUT THE SIZE OF 12"X12".I HAVE CHECKED ON LINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH 2002-2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THIS IS A UNSAFE ISSUE. WHY HAS NISSAN NOT CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM?THIS WAS A ISSUE YEARS AGO WITH CARS. THE METAL MUST BE OF VERY POOR QUALITY.
WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE APPROACH TO THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY (RT. 87 NORTH) THERE WERE SEVERAL CARS ENTERING THE NYS THRUWAY. NOT MORE THAN 2 MILES ON THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY NEAR EXIT 15A (SLOATSBURG) MY VEHICLE HIT A SERIES OF POT HOLES ON THE ROADWAY. MY TIRE WENT FLAT IMMEDIATELY AND I WAS ABLE TO STEER TOWARD THE SHOULDER AT MILE MARKER 31.5. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CALL MY AAA EMERGENCY SERVICE AND WENT ON TO LET THEM KNOW MY EXACT LOCATION. WHILE PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER, THERE WERE 8 - 10 VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. NOTHING BUT FLAT TIRES! I WAS INSTRUCTED MY AAA SERVICE COULD NOT ENTER THE NYS AS INSTRUCTED BY THE NYS POLICE. I TAKE THIS WAY HOME NIGHTLY RETURNING HOME FROM WORK. IT HAS GOTTEN SO BAD, I WATCH THE ROAD MORE THAN I WATCH FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! ON 2-17-14 I HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND ON FRIDAY HAD DEALER PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC. RESULT WAS PO 420 REPLACE MANIFOLD/BOLT AND GASKETS. THIS WAS AT 132,000 MILES BUT WE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ALSO. CHANGE OIL EVERY 3000 MILES BUT END UP PUTTING IN 4 MORE QUARTS BESIDES OIL CHANGE AMOUNT BEFORE NEXT OIL CHANGE IS DUE. HAD BOTH O2 SENSORS AND MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR CHANGED LAST YEAR AND PASSENGER FRONT SIDE BALL BEARING REPLACE. TWO YRS EARLIER HAD BOTH CRANK SENSORS REPLACED. MAY HAVE TO HAVE CAT CONVERTER REPLACED IF KEEPS DRINKING THE OIL BUT WAS TOLD BY DEALER IF REPLACE CAT CONVERT STILL WILL HAVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM ( SO MEANS COMPANY REALLY HASN'T FIXED PROBLEM IF HAVE IT REPLACE AND WILL STILL HAPPEN). EXPENSIVE REPAIRS CRANKS ABOUT $500, O2 ABOUT $300 EA., MASS AIRFLOW $700, AND THIS MANIFOLD PROBLEM IS $780 + 106 FOR DIAGNOSTICS. FIX PROBLEM AND LOOK AT OTHER BLOGS AND SEE MANY HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS YR OF ALTIMA. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE FLOOR PANELS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. MY 2006 ALTIMA STARTED MAKING A TICK SOUND AROUND 80,000 MILES AND AROUND 115,000 MILES IN 2014 MY ENGINE FAILED. WHILE AT A RED LIGHT MY ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE I HAD ROCKS IN A TIN CAN. MY ENGINE WAS STILL UNDER FEDERAL WARRANTY BUT NISSAN WOULDNT HELP ME BECAUSE THEY SAID I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN BUT I WAS OUT OF DEALER WARRANTY SO I DIDNT KNOW. I ASKED THEM ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL AND THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF IT BUT AFTER MONTHS OF RESEARCH I CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS DUE TO MY EFN BEING LISTED UNDER THE RECALL INFORMATION REPORT PROVIDED BY NISSAN, THEY STILL DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE MY ISSUE. I ENDED UP REPLACING THE ENGINE MYSELF IN 2014 FOR A TOTAL OF $3600 AND $1000 FOR LABOR AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT SINCE. I CALLED NISSAN, I SUBMITTED MY COMPLAINT BY MAIL AND I TOLD THEM MY ENGINE WAS UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL 150,000 MILES FEDERALLY (I HAD 120,000 AT THE TIME) BUT THEY JUST OVERLOOKED MY COMPLAINT AND NEVER DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
BRAKES DO NOT ENGAGE WHEN CAR HAS BEEN LEFT IN COLD, USUALLY BELOW FREEZING. BRAKES USUALLY ENGAGE AFTER I HIT THE PEDAL ONCE, TWICE HARD. DEALERSHIP STATED MASTER CYLINDER PROBLEM AND REPLACED; NOW LESS THAN TWO WEEKS LATER SAME THING IS OCCURRING HOWEVER NOT AS COLD AND NOT AS FREQUENT AS DURING THE MAJOR COLD SPELL IN AREA. DEALERSHIP HAS IT AGAIN OVERNIGHT TO SEE IF THEY CAN REPLICATE ISSUES. SPENT MAJOR BUCKS ON MASTER CYLINDER AND AM AFRAID TO TRUST MY CAR'S BRAKES, PLUS PERHAPS HAVING TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON A DIFFERENT ISSUE. HAVE SEEN OTHERS RESPOND TO THIS ISSUE BUT FIND NO MAJOR RECALLS; ONLY A NISSAN SERVICE CAMPAIGN AT SOME POINT TO CHECK BRAKE PADS AND MASTER CYLINDER FOR LEAKAGE. I HAVE NO IDEA IF DEALERSHIP EVER CHECKED MY PADS/MASTER CYLINDER, BEEN GOING TO SAME LOCATION FOR ALMOST 7 YEARS. *TR
I DISCOVERED BOTH FLOOR PAN/BOARDS UNDER THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS RUSTED THROUGH. I HAD BEEN TRACKING THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS, I FINALLY HAD TO PURCHASE BOTH NEW FLOOR PANS $171.00 EACH AND HAVE THEM REPLACED BY A PROFESSIONAL REPAIR SHOP AFTER OI REMOVED THE INTERIOR AND REINSTALLED IT ONCE THE REPAIR WAS ACCOMPLISHED AT A PRICE OF $799,00. THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE FLOOR IN PLACE PRIOR TO REPAIR WAS THE SOUND PROOFING UNDER THE CARPET. THE POOR RELIEF OR DRAINING OF WATER UNDER THE VEHICLE WAS A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS VEHICLES PROBLEM. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR TO GET INSPECTED AND WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT BOTH THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTING OUT. BECAUSE I KNOW SOME PEOPLE THAT CAN DO THE REPAIR WORK FOR ME I'M LOOKING AT ABOUT 1200.00 FOR THE REPAIR. NOW THAT I'VE SEEN WHAT SOME OTHER PEOPLE ARE BEING QUOTED I GUESS THAT PRICE IS FAIR. I ALREADY HAVE EXHAUST COMING THROUGH MY FLOOR AND AM CONCERNED FOR MY HEALTH AT THIS POINT. OTHER THEN THIS ISSUE MY CAR IS IN PERFECT CONDITION. MY CONCERN IS IF I DON'T FIX THIS, MY CAR IN NOT SAFE.....SO I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT AND I COULD NOT SELL IT TO ANYONE IN GOOD CONSCIOUSNESS BECAUSE I WOULD KNOWINGLY BE PUTTING SOMEONE ELSE IN HARMS WAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

TOOK IN CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE TO REPLACE WATER PUMP AND WAS INFORMED ABOUT ROTTED OUT FLOOR BOARDS. DESPITE MULTIPLE SERVICES AT SAME LOCATION THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS WAS MENTIONED TO ME. CONVENIENTLY AFTER MY 7 YEAR / 100,000 WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. WHILE DRIVING IN A SMALL STREET, GAS PEDDLE JUST STOPS WORKING. CAR JUST KEEPS MOVING AT SPEED OF 5MILES LIKE IN NEUTRAL MODE BUT CHECKED BEING IN DRIVE MODE. THEN ALL LIGHTS START FLASHING AND STOPS AFTER SOME DISTANCE). TOWED TO DEALER-STATES BATTERY SUDDENLY DIED. BRING IT HOME. THEN SAME THING HAPPENED - AGAIN JUST STOPS WORKING AT REDLIGHT WITH FLASHING ALL LIGHTS BUT CLEARLY BATTERY OK AS POWERED DRIVE SEAT CAN BE MOVED. AGAIN TOWED AND DEALER STATING THAT THEY ARE CHANGING ALTERNATOR. APPEARS RECALL OF 2007 - CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR/ENGINE STALL OR SIMILAR NATURE PROBLEM HAPPENING AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS TO SUDDENLY STOP ON ROAD. CALLED NISSAN- OPENED CASE #[XXX]. WAITING FOR THEIR ASSESSMENT. CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED SO MANY TIMES SINCE BOUGHT NEW IN 2006 , EVEN ENGINE CHANGED. DRIVING ON DRY ROAD AT SPEED ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED. PULLED OVER TO SIDE AND BEFORE CAR FULLY STOPPED PUT INTO NEUTRAL AND ENGINE RESTARTED. THEN PLACED BACK IN DRIVE AND CONTINUED 50 MILES WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEM THAT DAY. ON 12/15 WHILE ON INTERSTATE THE ENGINE STOPPED AGAIN WITH MUCH MORE DANGER AS TRAFFIC WAS COMING UP ON OUR REAR. MANAGED TO GET INTO BREAKDOWN LANE AND WHILE GOING 15/20 MPH PLACED THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND ENGINE RESTARTED AND PROCEEDED 50 MILES TO HOME. BROUGHT INTO NISSAN DEALER ON 12/18 AND THEY CLAIMED THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND COULD FIND NO PROBLEMS. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE OPENED A CASE #[XXX] BUT HAS NOT RETURNED CALLS AFTER THE NISSAN DEALER DIAGNOSTICS. THE CAR IS A DANGER TO OURSELVES AND OTHERS BUT IT IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ENGINE STALLING, RUNNING HARD DURING IDLE, SEVERAL ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, AND EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I AM WRITING A COMPLAINT ABOUT RUSTED FLOOR PANS THAT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST A LOT OF OTHER "06" NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS ISSUE AFTER I RECENTLY HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND AN EMPLOYEE AT THE BODY SHOP POINTED OUT HOW BAD MY FLOOR PANS LOOKED. THERE ARE LITERALLY HUGE HOLES IN THE FLOORING AND IF THE CARPET WERE RIPPED OUT, I WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE THROUGH THEM. IN ADDITION, I WAS TOLD THAT THE RUST CAUSES MOLD TO FORM AND IT'S DANGEROUS TO BREATHE THAT AIR IN. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND DO A RE-CALL SINCE THIS SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO EVERY OWNER WHO OWNS THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH OTHER BRAKE REPAIRS DUE TO THE RUST DESTROYING THE ROTORS. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED WATER ENTERED THE VEHICLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE UNDER THE CABIN.

WHILE AT A RED LIGHT, THE POWER ON MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER TRYING TO TURN OVER THE IGNITION SEVERAL TIMES, THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED. I DROVE IT TO ADVANCE AUTO WHERE THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND ADVISED THAT THERE WERE TWO ERROR CODES: P0725 & P0335 (ENGINE SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION & CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION). UPON CALLING MY MECHANIC,HE ADVISED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A TYPICAL PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL AND THAT HE BELIEVED THERE WAS A RECALL. I CALLED AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY NISSAN THAT THERE WAS A RECALL BUT MY VIN WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL. HOWEVER, NISSAN WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE WHICH VEHICLES WERE ACTUALLY PART OF THE RECALL! THERE ARE MANY UNRESOLVED COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE, AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS HAZARD FOR DRIVERS. WHAT IF THE VEHICLE STOPPED ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH? I WOULD LIKE VERIFIABLE INFORMATION ON WHAT VEHICLES THIS RECALL COVERED, AS NISSAN SEEMS TO BE DEFLECTING SOME OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
