TRANSMISSION FAIL AT 115000 MILES CAR WONT ACCELERATE
MY CAR STARTED WITH A BAD JERKING MOTION WHEN DRIVING IT. THEN IT STARTED NOT WANTING TO PICK UP SPEED, BUT THE RPM WOULD GO UP. THE FIRST TIME IT MALFUNCTIONED ON ME I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I DID NOT GET INJURED BECAUSE THE CARS BEHIND ME STOPPED IN TIME.
THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND MAKING A WHINING NOISE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS UNDER 110K MILES ON IT AND IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT NISSAN HAS OFFERED TO THE 2010 ALTIMAS. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED IN 2011 AND AS A RESULT, MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A MELTED DASHBOARD AND THE CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THERE IS A TERRIBLE GLARE FROM THE DAMAGED DASHBOARD AND IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. SEE THE ATTACHED PICTURES. I CONTACTED NISSAN NAT'L AND THEY SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT THEY WOULD HELP ME. THEY HAD ME GET DIAGNOSIS ON THE DASH AND CLEAR COAT, THEN TOLD ME NO, IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY!!? I UNDERSTAND A LOT OF OTHER NISSAN OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. NISSAN HAS ALREADY HAD A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THESE TWO ISSUES FOR MODELS UP TO 2009, SO THEY KNEW THE DASH AND CLEAR COAT WERE BAD, YET THEY SOLD NEW MODELS ANYWAY!
I BOUGHT A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA AND AT 127,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND WHEN IT WARMS UP THE CAR WILL NOT GO OVER 50 MPH. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THESE TRANSMISSION FROM EVERYTHING I'M FINDING OUT ABOUT THEM NOW. AT THIS POINT WITH WHAT THIS IS COSTING I WON'T BY ANOTHER NISSAN WHEN THEY DON'T BELIEVE THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH THESE TRANSMISSION.
THE DASH IN MY CAR IS MELTING AND CAUSING A FILM FROM THE CHEMICALS TO FORM ON THE WINDSHIELD. ALSO CAUSES A GLARE WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN. THE DASH IS ALSO GOT A SOLID CRACK AROUND THE CLUSTER AREA
OUR 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A BLACK DASH BOARD THAT STARTED FEELING STICKY. WE HAVE NOTICED THAT THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING. WE ALSO CONFIRMED THIS WITH A LOCAL MECHANIC. WE HAVE SEEN OLDER MODEL'S HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. IT HAS MELTED TO THE POINT THAT YOU CAN'T TOUCH THE DASH MUCH LESS LAY ANYTHING ON THE DASH BOARD.
FUELING THE VEHICLE HAS HAD INTERMITTENT ISSUES. SOMETIMES THE PUMP WOULD SHUT OFF PRIOR TO BEING FULL AND I WOULD HAVE TO MANUALLY HOLD IT TO GET TANK FULL. TODAY I ATTEMPTED TO FILL THE TANK AND IT WOULD ONLY STAY ON FOR A FEW SECOND AND THEN THE NOZZLE WOULD COME OUT IF THE TANK AND SPRAY GAS ALL OVER. ATTEMPTED TO FILL SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE SAME OUTCOME. I HAD THE GAS STATION MANAGER COME OUT BECAUSE I ASSUMED IT WAS THEIR PUMP THAT WAS THE ISSUE. I NOW ONLY HAVE ENOUGH GAS TO GO 57 MILES.
CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IN MOTION
CAT TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 129K MILES. WINDING NOISE AND SLIPPING. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THIS IS A CVT TRANSMISSION THAT NISSAN HAS AN ISSUE WITH AND REFUSES TO OWN UP TO IT. NOT A SAFE VEHICLE TO BE DRIVING IN CITY OR OPEN HIGHWAYS. NISSAN WANT ME TO PAY 3-4 GRAND TO FIX. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE WAKE THESE PEOPLE UP
My car is a 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 s model. In the last couple of years, my dash board has cracks all over it. My research found out that is an issue also with Lexus and Toyota. There has been a number of cases with Nissans and there were 2 separate class action law suite on this issue: https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/closed-settlements/florida-nissan-altima-dashboard-defect-class-action-settlement/ and https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2021/nissan-melting-dashboard-lawsuit.shtml I called Nissan and spoke with a Lydia who asked me to take my car to a dealer to document the issue and they did. I called back Nissan and was told by a supervisor that they will not be helping me with this. Thus the cause of this complaint.
ENGINE LIGHT ON CAR SHAKES A LOT OR ENGINE SHAKES SOMETIMES CAR DOESENT START PROBLEM HEPENS STATIONARY IN MOTION ON THE CITY HIGHWAY AND TURNING
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AFTER DRIVING AN HOUR AND A HALF. TRANSMISSION GOES IN TO FAIL/SAFE MODE AND LEAVES ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DEALER SOLD IT TO ME WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
DEFECT IN IN THE ECM. WENT TO WORK CAR STARTED FINE AND WHEN I WENT OUT FOR LUNCH PUSH THE START BUTTON ALL LIGHTS CAME IN IN THE DASH BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED ON FRANKFORD AVE, PHILADELPHIA, PA 19135 ON 5/1/2019.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING, CAUSING A GLARE. ALSO, PAINT IS PEELING ON THE HOOD AND ROOF.
CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED. DOESN'T GO FORWARD OR REVERSE.
OUR 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA JUST WENT OVER 80,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. MY SON WAS DRIVING ALONG SOME BACK ROADS AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT GAVE OUT, THE ENGINE WIL LREV BUT NO POWER. HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHO DOES A LOT OF WORK ON THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND HE SAID IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. QUOTED ME $3500 FOR A BRAND NEW NISSAN FACTORY TRANSMISSION AND SAID HE RECOMMENDED GETTING THE NEW ONE RATHER THAN TRYING TO FIX THE OLD ONE BECAUSE HE HAS TON A LOT OF WORK ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS. I DO NO UNDERSTAND WHY NISSAN STOPPED THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE CVT TRANSMISSION AT THE 2010 MODEL YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL, DECELERATE, AND POWER DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURES OCCURRED OFTEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,782.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND CRACKING.
FAILING TO ACCELERATE, SLIPPING, JERKING, STALLING
I HAVE A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. CAR WAS "ACTING UP" AND SO I TOOK IT TO A FIRESTONE SERVICE CENTER. THEY SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER. SO, I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. WHICH THEY DID FOR $153. TWO WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING FROM OHIO TO TENNESSEE, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND I HAD IT TOWED. THE COST FOR REPAIR WILL BE $4800.00
THE DASHBOARD FOR MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA IS EXTREMELY STICKY AND MELTING. IT CREATE A MAJOR GLARE AND COVERS A MAJOR PORTION ON MY WINDSHIELD. THIS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES MY ABILITY TO SEE THE ROAD, PEDESTRIAN OR CYCLISTS. ITS EVEN WORSE WHEN I HAVE TO TAKE TURNS. I STARTED BEGINNING OF LAST YEAR BUT WASN'T SUCH A BIG ISSUE. BUT, IT PROGRESSED WITH TIME AND HAVE BECOME A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME. I AM BIT SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR.
CLEAR COAT THEN PAINT COMING OFF. ESPECIALLY ON HOOD, TOP OF CAR, AND TRUNK. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER BLACK NISSAN ALTIMA'S DOING THE SAME.
OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS THE STEERING IN MY CAR HAS GOTTEN TOUGH. I THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, BEING THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS WORKING PROPERLY AND THE FLUID LEVEL WAS GOOD. YESTERDAY I WAS AT THE GAS STATION GETTING FUEL. AS I WAS DRIVING AWAY, THERE WAS A SOUND SIMILAR TO A BALLOON POPPING AND THE STEERING JERKED TO THE RIGHT, ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND THE STEERING IS SO TOUGH NOW THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND LOTS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT REASON. MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW A RECALL, BUT IT NEEDS TO.
THE STABILITY CONTROLS COME ON AND THEN THEY DON'T GO AWAY AND THE CAR DON'T RUN ANYMORE, IT TURNS ON AND CAR IS USELESS. THE STABILITY CONTROLS TURN ON AND DOESN'T TURN OFF AGAIN, I HAVE TO SHUT OFF THE ENTIRE CAR FOR MORE THAN 3 MINUTES AND WHEN I START IT BACK ON IT TURNS OFF. NOT EVEN THE SWITCH THAT SAY TURN OFF DOESN'T WORK. SUDDENLY IT TURNS ON AGAIN AND SAME CYCLE BACK AGAIN AND THE CAR JUST DOESN'T RUN.
WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE AND THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME THE CVT TRANSMISSION WILL MAKE A WHINING NOISE. I NOTICED IT WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MPH. BECAUSE OF THIS STRANGE NOISE, I EXITED. WHEN I WAS GOING 30 MPH+ AND ACCELERATING THE WHINING CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. I AM NOT SURE WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE A BELT INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. IT NOW STUTTERS AT TIMES WHEN GOING ABOUT 10 MPH. WHEN "SHIFTING" DOWN FROM 20 MPH IT WILL JERK.
VEHICLE NEEDED FRONT BEARINGS AT 62K AND REAR BEARINGS AT 156K. DID THEY GET THESE BEARINGS FROM CHINA? NEVER HAVE PUT BEARINGS ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED.
THE TRANSMISSION JUST WENT OUT AT 100,000 MILES. I'M TOLD THE TRANSMISSION IS A CVT TRANSMISSION AND THIS IS PRETTY MUCH NORMAL. I'M LOOKING AT A $4000 COST JUST TO PUT ANOTHER CVT TRANSMISSION INTO IT
TAKATA RECALL , MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING, AND IT MAKES A WEIRD NOISE WHEN I START UP THE CAR

I GOT TWO LIGHTS ONE FOR AIR FROM TIRES AND THE OTHER ONE FOR CHECK ENGINE SOON. I FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE LIGHTS STILL ON
MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN THE GAS PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE AND AVOID COLLISION AND GAS PEDAL BEGAN WORKING AFTER PUMPING AND A FEW MOMENTS. HAD THREE KIDS IN THE CAR AND ONLY DUMB LUCK PREVENTED ACCIDENT. BROUGHT TO DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY AND IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE
WENT TO START MY CAR.IN THE DASHBOARD WAS A KEY LIGHT.CAR WOULDN'T START LOOK UP THINGS THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT STEERING LOCK.THE CAR WAS SITTING AT MY HOUSE .

CARRIAGE NISSAN (2400 BROWNS BRIDGE RD, GAINESVILLE, GA 30504, (678) 944-8663) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN 24 (1016 BELMONT ST, BROCKTON, MA 02301, (508) 588-9520) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,640.
VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE, APPEARS TO SLOW DOWN, CAUSING ISSUES ON HIGHWAY. PRESSING THE FUEL PEDAL DOES NOT APPEAR TO WORK; FUEL PEDAL TOUCHING FLOORBOARD AND VEHICLE STILL WILL NOT ACCELERATE.
THE CVT(TRANSMISSION) OF THIS MODEL HAS A HISTORY OF THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING AND A WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. THE MANUFACTURER "FIX" TO THIS IS TO PUT IN A COOLING FAN FOR THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $1300. IF THE MANUFACTURERS TRANSMISSION IS KNOWN TO OVERHEAT WHY DOESN'T NISSAN PAY FOR THE COOLING FAN OR FIX AND REPLACE THE CVT TRANSMISSION.
NISSAN CVT (TRANSMISSION). THE VEHICLE WHEN IN MOTION SEEMS TO BE STUCK " IN GEAR" WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR IT FEELS RESTRAINED AND LABORED WITH A NOISY ALMOST WHINING SOUND. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO "UP-SHIFT" ALTHOUGH THE CVTS ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO NOT MAKE THE BUMPING TRANSITIONS, IT SEEMS TO BE RESTRAINING THE CAR FROM PICKING UP SPEED WITH LABORING WHINE.
THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A WHINING NOISE DURING ACCELERATION AND THEN LOSS POWER ON THE INTERSTATE AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 40MPH EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY MAKING A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION FOR MY FAMILY. I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE AND RECEIVING NO ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN ON THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
AFTER AN HOUR OF HIGHWAY DRIVING, IN WARM WEATHER, TRANSMISSION GOES INTO SAFE MODE, LOSES POWER, TRANSMISSION SHUTS DOWN. PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND ZIPPO, NOTHING, NO POWER, VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ON HIGHWAY. NISSAN WAS OF NO HELP. THEIR CVT TRANNY IS HE PROBLEM. SOME MODELS WERE RECALLED ALREADY AND SOME WARRANTIES WERE EXTENDED, BUR NOT MINE. THEY WANT OVER 5 GRAND TO REPLACE TRANS.
I WAS DRIVING TO THE AIRPORT AND OUT OF NO WHERE, MY CAR STARTS JERKING AND SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TO THE DROP OFF TERMINALS. I LOST ALL ACCELERATION CONTROL AND COULDN'T EVEN MOVE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED. TURNS OUT 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS VERY COMMON CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT IS UNABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT JERKING, SPUTTERING, OR EVEN MOVING. I CALL THE 1-800 NUMBER FOR NISSAN AND THEY SAID THERE WASN'T A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION FOR THIS VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT DOWN AND HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND THEY CAN REVIEW IT WITH NO GUARANTEE OR PROMISE OF A POSITIVE OUTCOME. TRANSMISSIONS FOR THIS VEHICLE TO BE REPLACED ARE AROUND $4000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (LYNCHBURG NISSAN, 18588 FOREST RD, LYNCHBURG, VA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A WHIRRING SOUND AND LOST POWER ON FREEWAY ONLY ALLOWING MY CHILDREN AND I TO ONLY GO 20 MPH WHILE CARS WERE MERGING ON IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. THE CAR DID THIS A FEW TIMES DURING LONGER TRIPS (45 MILES OR MORE) ON THE SIDE OF A REGULAR ROAD. AFTER A COUPLE MECHANICS THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOUND THE PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR OVERHEATS BECAUSE THE COOLING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. WE HAD TO PUT A NEW COOLER IN IT.
WAS TOLD MY CAR HAD A RECAL JUST DIDN'T KNOW WHETHER TO GO TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP OR WHERE I PURCHASED CAR TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED.
WHEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 45 MIN OR MORE AND MAYBE A LITTLE HOTTER THAN USUAL, AND YOU ARE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY OR HIGHWAY, THE SPEED WILL LOCK AT 65 OR UNDER, IT WILL NOT LET YOU GO ANY HIGHER, WHEN IT LOCKS IT SLOWS DOWN FAST LIKE IF HITTING THE BREAKS, THIS IS SO DANGEROUS WHEN ON FREEWAY WE HAVE BEEN SO CLOSE TO ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS, WE TRAVEL ON THE CAR, AND IT HAS DONE IT A LOT LATELY, WE KNOW NOTHING OF WHY IT'S THIS WAY.
VEHICLES SPEED GOES DOWN TO 40MPH TO ALMOST STOPPING. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE, DRIVING LONG DISTANCES AND DRIVING AT A SPEED ABOVE 70MPH. IT ALSO MAKES A WHINING NOISE WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
THERE IS AN ELECTRIC SYSTEM ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I HAVE HAD THE ISSUE 4 YEARS. THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKES WILL LOCK UP AND THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. IN ORDER TO START THE CAR THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED FIRST AND THEN PLUG BACK IN AND THEN IT WILL START BACK UP.IN THE PAST I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NEVER FOUND ANY ISSUES ON THE DIAGNOSTICS.
I'M HAVING ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION THAT ARE MOST LIKELY LEADING TO IT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AND AFTER DOING FURTHER RESEARCH IT SEEMS THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND A LOT WITH THE SAME YEAR OR ONLY A FEW YEARS DIFFERENCE THAT HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. WITH THIS MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES I THINK NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.
MY ALTIMA STARTED MAKING THIS WHINING NOISE WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL UP HILL AND COASTED DOWN HILL AND THIS WAS DURING THE DAY IN THE HEAT.
THE 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA HAS A CVT TRANSMISSION AND THIS CONTINUES TO GO OUT AND WILL EVERY 12,000 MILES. NO SERVICE PROVIDER WANTS TO FIX THIS ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE UNRELIABLE PART AND NOT ONLY IS THIS IS A COSTLY FIX BUT IT ONLY GUARANTEE THE MOST A YEAR OR LESS (CLOSE TO $3000.00 TO FIX). I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE OTHER MODELS WITH NISSAN WITH THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED. I BELIEVE ANY VEHICLE WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED.
