WE MOVED FROM ILLINOIS TO FLORIDA IN 2014, AFTER LIVING IN FLORIDA FOR 2 YEARS THE DASH BOARD IN THE NISSAN BECAME SHINY AND STICKY, LIKE IT IS MELTING. AFTER CONTACTING NISSAN ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THEY MENTIONED THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE DASH BOARD. WE FEEL THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FOR A RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE SHINY REFLECTION OF THE MELTED DASHBOARD IS CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE REFLECTION FROM THE SUN. THIS FEELS LIKE A BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THIS REFLECTION CAUSES LARGE AREAS OF BLIND SPOTS ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY LIKE MAZDA, TOYOTA, AND LEXUS HAVE AND REPLACE THE DASHBOARD UNDER RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. MCDONOUGH NISSAN (1775 AVALON PKWY, MCDONOUGH, GA) DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND I HAVE TROUBLE SEEING THE ROAD AND OTHER CARS.
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS FLASHING AND SHOWING AS TURNED OFF EVEN WHEN THE SEAT IS OCCUPIED. I SEARCHED FOR RECALLS DEALING WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUED AND FIND RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE ON THE 2007 TO 2008 ALTIMA (RECALL 08V521000) AND A NEW RECALL IS JUST READ ABOUT ON THE 2013 TO 2016 ALTIMA,BUT NONE ON MY YEAR. I OPENED A CASE (#23576396) AND TOOK IT TO MY NISSAN DEALER AS INSTRUCTED BY THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH AT THE CORPORATE NUMBER TO HAVE THE ISSUE ANALIZED. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER TOLD ME THE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS DEFECTIVE AND THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE SEAT AT A COST OF $550.00 PLUS LABOR. I TOLD HIM I WOULD TALK TO THE CORPORATE CONTACT AND WAS CHARGED $121.50 FOR DIAGNOSIS WHEN I PICK MY CAR UP. I SPOKE TO ALLISE AT CORP. AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE SERVICE MANAGER HAD TOLD ME AND WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN'S POSITION IS THIS IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR. I TOLD HER I WILL FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH RENDERS THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AS UNUSABLE IN THIS CONDITION. THIS CONDITION STARTED APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO.
"PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATES WHEN PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED BY ADULTS WEIGHING BETWEEN 120 AND 200 POUNDS, INDICATING THE AIRBAG IS DEACTIVATED, THOUGH IT SHOULD BE TURNED ON. PROBLEM HAPPENS BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED, AND HAS OCCURRED FREQUENTLY FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE, SO ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED, AND FAULTY SENSOR HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED. NEWER MODELS (2013'2016) WERE SUBJECTED TO A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. OLDER MODELS SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS WELL, AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR PASSENGERS. COMPLAINT FOR 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 S.

MY DASHBOARD STARTED MELTING!! IN JUST THE PAST MONTH IT HAS TURNED IN TO A SHINY STICKY MESS THAT CANNOT BE CLEANED AND IMPEDES VISION DUE TO THE REFLECTION OFF THE WINDSHIELD. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AND AM AWAITING A RESPONSE TO SEE IF THEY WILL HELP RESOLVE THE ISSUE OR NOT.
P0101 POWERTRAIN/MAF CIRCUIT ISSUE KEEPS COMING BACK WITH CAR. EVEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR THIS ISSUE. DEALER REPROGRAMMED ECU/UPDATED & <MAF SENSOR . AFTER CERTAIN MILES HAVE ACCUMULATED THE ERROR KEEPS ON COMING BACK WITH MINIMAL DRIVABILITY ISSUES SUCH AS MORE FUEL CONSUMPTION DUE TO INACCURATE MAF READINGS. CAR JERKS EVER SO OFTEN WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON REGARDING TO THE P0101 CODE. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGE BUT PROBLEM STILL NOT RESOLVED.
I HAVE A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA THROWING CVT TRANSMISSION CODES. THE CAR ACCELERATES QUICKLY TO HIGH RPM'S AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS TO MAKE THE CAR DRIVE PROPERLY. NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF THE CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES AS THEY HAVE AN EXTENDED MANUFACTURER WARRANTY UP TO 120K MILES. HOWEVER, IT CAPS OFF AT 2010 MODELS. I WAS TOLD MY VIN IS NOT COVERED. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, BUT CURRENTLY JUMPING HOOPS TO SEE IF THIS IS COVERED. IF NISSAN WANTS TO SELL VEHICLES WITH CVT TRANSMISSIONS, THEIR WARRANTY SHOULD BE EXTENDED FOR ALL MODELS AND YEARS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BARE COSTS OF 3000-5500 TO REPLACE A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. CURRENTLY, NISSAN JUST WAITS TO SEE IF A PROBLEM ARISES. THEY WILL MOST LIKELY NOT COVER THIS. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. MY CAR HAS 110K MILES AND SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE. THIS IS UNFAIR PRACTICE TO CONSUMERS AND FIND IT APPALLING THAT YOU SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE ONLY TO HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION THAT WILL BREAK SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS FROM NISSAN OWNERS HAVING CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH DIFFERENT MILEAGE COUNTS AND MODELS. ALL NISSAN OWNERS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE AND ALL SHOULD HAVE THE EXTENDED MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. IF THE TRANSMISSION IS CAUSING PROBLEMS IN SO MANY NISSAN VEHICLES, ITS NOT THE OWNER. IT IS CLEARLY THE MANUFACTURER. NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REPLACE BAD CVT TRANSMISSIONS WHEN PROBLEMS ARISE. I AM TRULY SURPRISED NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM FROM NISSAN OWNERS. IF AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES WANT TO CONTINUE SELLING CVT TRANSMISSIONS, THEY SHOULD HAVE BETTER WARRANTIES. I WILL NEVER BUY A VEHICLE WITH CVT TRANSMISSION AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH ON WET PAVEMENT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE TOLLWAY AND I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AS IF SOMEONE HAD PULLED THE HOOD RELEASE AND SAW THAT MY HOOD WAS FLUTTERING UP AND DOWN. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, MY HOOD HAD IN FACT POPPED OPEN AND I HAD TO SLAM THE HOOD BACK SHUT. FORTUNATELY IT DID NOT POP OPEN FULLY TO WHERE IT WAS AGAINST MY WINDSHIELD AND BLOCKING MY VIEW. I THINK THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE HOOD LATCH.
THE DASH ON MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA IS STARTING TO MELT AND GET VERY STICKY. A BAD GLARE IS STARTING TO APPEAR IN MY WINDSHIELD MAKING IT HARD TO SEE WHILE DRIVING. I CANNOT CLEAN THE DASH BECAUSE ANYTHING IT TOUCHES STICKS TO THE DASH. I CONTACTED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND THEY CANNOT HELP ME REPLACE IT UNLESS I PAY FOR THE DASH. THIS IS NOT SAFE!
THERE IS A FAULT IN THE SENSOR FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE SEAT AIRBAG. IT FAILS TO PROPERLY SENSE THAT AN ADULT IS OCCUPYING THE SEAT. THE AIRBAG-OFF INDICATOR LIGHT OFTEN IS LIT WHEN AN ADULT WHO WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 102-105 POUNDS, IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF OUR DEALER, CLAY NISSAN OF NEWTON, MASS. IN DECEMBER 2015. THE DEALER CHARGED ME $99.99 BUT FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEIR REPORT STATED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS "OPERATING AS DESIGNED." OBVIOUSLY IT WASN'T. NEWER ALTIMA MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE 2011 ALTIMA ALSO SHOULD BE RECALLED ASAP.

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WITH ADULT PASSENGER IN FRONT RIGHT SEAT "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF " LIGHT WAS ON. WHEN OPERATING WITH NO PASSENGERS LIGHT IS OFF INDICATING THE AIRBAG IS WORKING. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO SCANNED SYSTEM AND COULD OT FIND ANY CODES. AFTER READING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA REGARDING THIS ISSUE I FEEL NISSAN NEEDS TOIMPLEMENT A SERVICE RECALL. AS I AND I AM SURE OTHERS DO NOT FEEL SAFE OPERATING VEHICLE WITH MY CHILDREN. WE WERE OPERATING SAID VEHICLE ON CITY STREETS UNDER 30 MPH WHEN FIRST NOTICED HOWEVER THIS PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT ON HIGHWAYS AT HIGHER SPEEDS AS WELL.
AFTER A HEAVY RAIN THE REAR FLOORBOARD AND CARPET IS WET PASSENGER SIDE. CAN ALSO HEAR SLOSHING NOISES FROM EITHER THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR PANEL OR UNDER THE REAR CARPET. WINDOWS UP TIGHT, DOOR SEALS LOOK GOOD. SEATS ARE NOT WET. JUST FLOOR. NO SUNROOF.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V371000 (SUSPENSION), HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,253.
I OWN A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE PROBLEM I'VE BEEN HAVING SINCE I GOT MY CAR IS WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER HITS 35MPH IT PULLS BACK THE RPM DROPS AND LOSES SPEED. ALSO WHEN I AM IN TRAFFIC I STEP ON THE GAS GENTLY AND THE CAR JERKS IT FEELS LIKE A STICK SHIFT CAR WHEN YOUR UP SHIFTTING. IT FEELS SO UNCOMFORTABLE KNOWING MY CAR MOVES IN EXAGGERATED WAY. ANOTHER THING IT HAS IS THE RPM REV HIGH WHEN I GENTLY PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL I HAVE TO LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL AND PRESS GENTLY AGAIN I HAVE TO REPEAT THAT 2-3 TIMES FOR THE RPM TO BE AT NORMAL IT HAS WASTE GAS BY DOING THIS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO TWO DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR MY CAR TO DO THAT I WAS NOT SATISFIED ON HOW MY CAR WAS ACTING. I TOOK IT BACK SEVERAL TIMES THEY FINALLY SAID IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION MY CAR IS UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURE AND THEY DENY TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. I TOOK MY CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM MY CAR WAS DOING AND THE GUY THAT WAS GOING TO DO MY PAPERWORK AUTOMATICALLY SAID IT'S YOUR TRANSMISSION. HE TOLD ME TO LEAVE MY CAR AND THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I LEFT MY CAR FOR ALMOST A WEEK. IN THAT TIME I WAS WAITING I CALLED LIKE 3-4 TIMES TO ASK ABOUT MY CAR THE ONLY ANSWER I GOT FROM THE WAS WE'LL CALL YOU BACK IN A FEW AND NEVER CALLED ME . I STRUGGLED TO GET ON TIME TO WORK AND TO MY COLLEGE CLASSES SINCE I HAD TO TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORATION. I FINALLY WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK UP ON MY CAR AND THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO MY CAR. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP WONT DO ANY THING ABOUT MY CAR.

THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO DRIVE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER (HERB GORDON NISSAN, 3131 AUTOMOBILE BLVD, SILVER SPRING, MD 20904) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-647-7261 AND OPENED A CLAIM AND CASE NUMBER: 28500795. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,528.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING AND EXTREMELY STICKY. THE FAILURE CREATED A CHEMICAL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A GLARE FROM THE DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE VEHICLES OR EVEN PEDESTRIANS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PERFORMANCE NISSAN (LOCATED AT 1345 FEDERAL HWY, POMPANO BEACH, FL 33062, (954) 446-8772) TO BE INSPECTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT REPLACING THE DASHBOARD WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $3,000. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WOULD BE OFFERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. PIIR = Y.
I WAS TRAVELING WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN ON A STRAIGHT WAY ON HWY AND THE FRONT TIRE BLEW IN THE SIDEWALL OF MY MICHELIN TIRE. I WAS PULLED ACROSS THE OTHER LANE INTO A DITCH STRIKING A STONE CULVERT AFTER GOING AIRBORNE. I HAD PURCHASED A SET OF MICHELIN TIRES AND THEY WERE A 70,000 MILE TIRE AND HAD 23,000 MILES ON THEM WHEN THIS OCCURRED. AFTER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DETERMINED A BLOWOUT AS THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO WHEEL INDICATION OF ROAD HAZARD THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE TO TIRE. IN OTHER WORDS, THE TIRE AND WHEEL WERE IN PERFECT CONDITION OTHER THAT THE BLOWN PART IN THE SIDEWALL AND IF I WOULD HAVE HIT SOMETHING HARD ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE TIRE THAT TYPE OF DAMAGE, THEY SAID IT WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY AFFECTED MY WHEEL. THE TIRE HAD TO BE DEFECTIVE AS THERE IS REPORTS ARE ALL OVER INTERNET THAT THESE INCIDENTS ARE OCCURRING WITH MICHELIN TIRES. BUYER BEWARE! MY CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LIT ON THE DASHBOARD. THE ASSOCIATED ENGINE CODE WAS P2A00 AND BOTH THE UPSTREAM (AIR/FUEL RATIO) AND DOWNSTREAM (OXYGEN) AIR SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR COST CLOSE TO $1,000 PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AFTER MANY OTHER COSTLY REPAIRS, INCLUDING MOST RECENTLY ANOTHER FILING WITH THE NHTSA REGARDING ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WHERE THE RACK & PINION HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHILE THE CAR HAS A LOT OF MILES, THEY'RE MAINLY HIGHWAY MILES AND THE CAR HAS BEEN EXTREMELY WELL MAINTAINED. ADDITIONALLY PLEASE NOTE: THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED ~33K MILES AGO. DURING THIS REPLACEMENT, SUPPOSEDLY, THE AFOREMENTIONED SENSORS SHOULD'VE BEEN CHECKED AND POSSIBLY REPLACED. *TR
I AM CURRENTLY IN THE ARMY. I AM CONDUCTING TRAINING AT FORT SILL, OK AND MY WIFE IS IN NORTH CAROLINA WHERE I ACTUALLY WORK. MY WIFE DROPPED THE KIDS OFF AT THEIR SCHOOLS AND WENT TO THE STORE WHERE THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE AND WAS HAVING NO ISSUES. WHEN SHE RETURNED TO THE CAR TO START IT, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED, BRAKES WERE LOCKED, DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ONE, HAD THE RED BLINKING CAR WITH KEY SYMBOL AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS SAYING LOCKED, SHE WAS STUCK IN TOWN, NO WAY TO PICK UP OUR KIDS, AND NO WAY TO GET BACK HOME. ENDED UP PAYING TOW TRUCK TO TAKE CAR TO THE HOUSE, CHANGED BATTERIES IN KEY FOB. CHECKED THE BATTERY, AND NOTHING HAS FIXED IT. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE A MULTITUDE OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO START AND UNABLE TO BE SHUT OFF WITHOUT HAVING TO BE TOWED. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE, BUT THE CAR ALMOST ACTED LIKE IT WAS ENCOUNTERING A SOFTWARE CRASH BOTH TIMES. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE EXHAUST / CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED ON THE CAR. I'VE HAD SEVERAL MAJOR STEERING PROBLEMS. AT ONE POINT, A TIE ROD HAD TO BE REPLACED ON THIS CAR. THE LATEST STEERING ISSUE JUST OCCURRED IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. ON JANUARY 16, I TOOK A ROAD TRIP WITH MY FIANCE AND HER SISTER TO MEMPHIS, TN TO VISIT HER OTHER SISTER. ON THE WAY DOWN WE NOTICED THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER. UPON INSPECTION, WE FOUND THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW. WE REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, WE FOUND IT STRANGE GIVEN THE EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR. AS WE DROVE, THE STEERING ISSUES RECURRED. WE FIGURED OUT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE SYSTEM. WE BOUGHT A LOT OF POWER STEERING FLUID IN ORDER TO MAKE IT TO MEMPHIS (THERE WEREN'T MANY MAJOR CITIES ON OUR WAY BETWEEN WHERE WE CAME FROM AND MEMPHIS, SO WE HAD TO GET TO MEMPHIS.) SEVERAL MECHANICS CONFIRMED THE ISSUE WAS THE RACK & PINION SYSTEM ON THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP THAT ULTIMATELY REPAIRED THE CAR MENTIONED THIS BRAKE WAS HIGHLY UNUSUAL, NOT DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE, AND NOT DUE TO ROAD HAZARDS. SINCE THE CAR IS NOT OUT OF WARRANTY, I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. GIVEN THE OTHER MAJOR REPAIRS THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN THE SHORT TIME I'VE HAD THIS CAR, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THE VERY DILIGENT MAINTENANCE I'VE BEEN PERFORMING ON THE CAR AND DESPITE THE MANY MILES ALREADY ON IT, I BELIEVE I'VE BEEN SOLD A LEMON. AS A RESULT OF THIS COSTLY REPAIR, I'LL PROBABLY HAVE TO SELL A PORTION OF MY 401K. I ADDITIONALLY HAD ADDED EXPENSES SENDING MY FIANCE AND HER SISTER BACK HOME SO THEY COULD GO TO WORK, ROOM & BOARD, CAR RENTAL, AND LOST A DAY OF WORK. *TR
STEERING WHEEL IS PEELING ON THE TOP AND IS SOFT TO THE POINT WHERE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT THE FOAM WILL BE IN MY HAND.THE CAR WAS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE BY NISSAN AND BOUGHT AT NISSAN. THEY REVIEWED THE DEFECT TO BE REPLACED AT "GOODWILL" BUT IT DID NOT QUALIFY AS A REASON TO A REPLACE; EVEN THOUGH IT IS A POTENTIAL DANGER TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V371000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 33,000.
MY ALTIMA FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE START BUTTON AND EXHIBITED ALL ALARMS LIT ON THE DASHBOARD (INCLUDING ERRONEOUS INDICATIONS OF OPEN DOORS.) AAA SERVICE WAS FORBIDDEN BY AAA TO PROVIDE ANY SERVICE BEYOND BATTERY AND TOWING. AFTER BEING TOWED TO A TIRE SHOP, I BEGGED THE MECHANICS TO DETACH THE GROUND WIRE IN ORDER TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER. THIS WORKED! AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS CONDITION AND FIX WAS IDENTICAL TO ONES DESCRIBED IN SERVICE BULLETIN NTB12-041. MY COMPLAINT IS AGAINST THE DEALERSHIP (NISSAN BRIDGEWATER NJ) WHO FAILED TO APPLY THIS SOFTWARE PATCH WHEN IT FIRST APPEARED IN APRIL 2012 DESPITE MANY RETURNS I MADE TO THEM FOR ROUTINE WARRANTY SERVICE. THE OCCURRENCE OF THIS FAILURE AND CITATION OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN HAS BEEN REPORTED BY SEVERAL USERS IN NISSAN USER FORUMS. THIS IMPLIES THAT OTHER DEALERS ARE SIMILARLY NEGLIGENT IN KEEPING CARS CURRENT WITH SERVICE BULLETINS APPLICABLE TO THEIR VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS IN A BUMPER TO BUMPER ACCIDENT AND THE FRONT END OF MY CAR WAS SMOOCHED IN. MY CHEST HIT THE STEERING WHEEL (MY SEAT BELT WAS BUCKLED) KNOCKING THE AIR OUT OF ME, BUT MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR. EVERY TIME WE GET IT BACK WE GET THE SAME ANSWER "WE DON'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE SENSOR". WE RECENTLY TOOK OUR CAR IN 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT AND WE ASKED THEM IF OUR CAR WAS ON THE AIR BAG RECALL LIST THAT WAS ALL OVER THE NEWS. THEY TOLD US NOT TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING BECAUSE OUR CAR WAS NOT ON THAT LIST. I ENDED UP IN URGENT CARE AFTER THE ACCIDENT WITH MUSCLES SPASMS AND A BRUISED CHEST. WHY DIDN'T MY AIRBAGS GO OFF?! *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE 60W IN MORENO VALLEY. THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 90, IT WAS PRETTY DRY AND HOT. I WAS CRUISING ALONG AT 70 MPH WITH MY BROTHER, INFANT NIECE AND 10 YEAR OLD SON. WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE SPEED JUST DROPPED TO ABOUT 35 MPH, DUE TO THERE NOT BEING ANY WARNING AT ALL (NO ERROR LIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS), THE CAR BEHIND US NEARLY REAR ENDED US. ABOUT 8 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, THE CAR'S SPEED DROPPED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS ALREADY IN THE SLOW LANE AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID ANY NEAR CRASHES. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO NISSAN IN CORONA CA. AFTER A COUPLE DAYS, THEY WERE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BEING THE CVT. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF A RECALL ON THE ALTIMA CVT. NISSAN HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE SPEED REDUCING WHILE THE CVT GOES INTO SAFE MODE WITHOUT ANY WARNING TO THE DRIVER OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR QUITE SOME TIME, BUT THEY DO NOT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER'S SAFETY AND WELL-BEING. *TR

I WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WITH A 2014 DODGE RAM AND IT WAS A FRONT IMPACT COLLISION. MY CAR WAS TOTALLED ( THE IMPACT EVEN CRUMBLED THE REAR QUARTER PANEL) BUT THE AIRBAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DID NOT DEPLOY. THE REPAIR COMPANY WAS CONFUSED WITH THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. II SUSTAINED INJURIES TO MY NECK, BACK AND LEFT SIDE. ON JUNE 26, 2014 AROUND 8PM, THE CAR BEGAN TO ABRUPTLY LOSE ACCELERATION. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE PAST 25MPH. I FORTUNATELY MADE IT HOME THAT EVENING, BUT FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 2014; THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT REV IN ANY GEAR AND I WAS ALMOST STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF I95S DURING LUNCHTIME RUSH HOUR. I UNFORTUNATELY HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO CHAPMAN NISSAN, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD ATTEMPT TO LOOK AT MY CAR ON MONDAY, JUNE 30. I CALLED ON MONDAY, JUNE 30 AND DID NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE UNTIL 230PM, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION ON THE CAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I IMMEDIATELY FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN THE MANUFACTURER AS THIS WAS EXTREMELY UNEXPECTED ON A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. I RECEIVED A VOICE MESSAGE FROM A REGIONAL COMPLAINT MANAGER ON JULY 1 WHO STATED THAT SHE WOULD CALL BACK ON JULY 2. I HAVE CALLED EVERY BUSINESS DAY SINCE JULY 2 WITH NO ADEQUATE RESPONSE FROM NISSAN. IN DOING MY RESEARCH FOR NISSAN ALTIMA TRANSMISSION ISSUES, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS "WAS" A COMMON ISSUE FROM 2006-2010, WHERE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION TO 120K MILES. IN 2011, THEY REDUCED THE WARRANTY TO 60K MILES. HOWEVER, WHAT NISSAN FAILED TO DO WAS ALERT OWNERS, THAT THEY HAD ISSUED "SERVICE BULLETINS" TO THEIR DEALERSHIPS DOCUMENTING THE EXACT PROBLEM I HAD EXPERIENCED ON JUNE 27. THE SERVICE BULLETIN NOTICES ARE: 336174, 361957, NTB10121, NTB1012057. *JS
KEYLESS START- I LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB, THE CAR WAS DRIVEN APPROX. 2 MILES AWAY WITHOUT THE KEY. WHEN THE PERSON DRIVING REALIZED THIS, THEY DIDN'T TURN THE CAR OFF AND CAME BACK. THE CAR NEVER SHUT DOWN, BUT DID START TO SHUTTER A BIT.
I GET THE P0101 CODE THAT INDICATES A MASS AIR FLOW ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR CUTS OFF, STALLS, SPUTTERS. OFTEN THE CAR CAN BE RESTARTED, BUT IT CONTINES TO STUTTER, OR SHUT OFF. THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON NYC STREETS AND ON HIGHWAYS, USUALLY WHILE DRIVING ON STRAIGHT ROADS. IT HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE MECHANIC CHANGED THE MASS FLOW SENSOR AND THE VEHICLE WAS FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS. THEN THE ISSUE STARTED AGAIN. THIS REPEATEDLY HAPPENS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. CHANGING THE MASS AIR FLOW PART DOES NOT HELP IT. THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED SINCE 2014, OF COURSE USUALLY IN MAY WHEN IT'S TIME TO GET THE INSPECTION.

I have complained to Nissan that the dash in the car is literally melting. It started around 2014 when I noticed it was having a sticky texture and because of this it creates a glare in the windshield that makes it hard to see. Over the years it has only gotten worse and the dash is literally crumbling. I read online where they have had this issue before. I have tried to get help locally but I am lost no one will help me. This is a really bad safety issue!

I HAD NOTICED THAT REGARDLESS OF OCCUPANCY, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR NEVER LIT UP AFTER INITIAL TESTING ON START-UP. IN LATE JAN 2014, I WAS T-BONED ON PASSENGER SIDE BY MERCEDES WHOSE SPEED WAS SUCH THAT HIS AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. EVEN THOUGH I HAD NO ONE WITH ME OCCUPYING MY PASSENGER SEAT, THE SIDE CURTAIN AND SEAT BAG DEPLOYED, ADDING MANY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC, THE CAR STARTED TO STALL. DRIVER PARKED THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WALKED TO WORK TO AVOID HAVING THE CAR DIE IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. NONE OF THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RETRIEVE THE CAR THAT EVENING, IT COULD NOT BE STARTED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A MECHANIC. DESPITE BEING ONLY 3-YEARS OLD AND HAVING GONE JUST 60,022 MILES, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR HAD A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK! THE ENGINE HAD BEEN WELL MAINTAINED INCLUDING OIL CHANGES EVERY 3,000 MILES. *TR
THIS IS AN INCIDENT THAT HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES, MOST RECENTLY ON 2/23/15. CAR WOULD NOT START IN COLDER WEATHER. REPLACED BATTERY IN JANUARY OF 2014 FINE FOR AWHILE. HAPPENED AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2014. GOT JUMP START AND TOOK TO REPAIR SHOP. COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. STARTED FINE FOR SHOP. JANUARY 2015, INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN WHERE CAR WOULD NOT START. BROUGHT BACK TO REPAIR SHOP, SAID I HAD A FAULTY BATTERY. BATTERY REPLACED. FEBRUARY 2015, LESS THAN 3 WEEKS AFTER NEW BATTERY PUT IN, CAR STARTS FINE. STOPPED FOR GAS NOT EVEN 2 MINUTES LATER. TRYING TO START CAR AFTER FILLING UP, CAR WILL NOT START. STEERING WHEEL IS IN LOCKED POSITION, BRAKES ARE LOCKED UP, RED LIGHT FLASHING AS ON DASH AS IF THERE IS NO KEY IN THE CAR. LOCKS WERE NOT RESPONSIVE TO EITHER MANUAL BUTTON ON DOOR NOR WITH KEY FOB. IGNITION WOULD NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO TURNING OVER. NO LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. CAR WAS JUST DEAD. HAD TO TOW TO REPAIR SHOP, WHERE MECHANIC SAID BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. IT WAS BRAND NEW 3 WEEKS AGO!!!! STILL DON'T KNOW THE REAL ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. NO ONE CAN FIND ANYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH IT. HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER POSTS WITH SIMILAR SITUATIONS AND IT SEEMS THAT NISSAN FIXING THE BCM IS THE ONLY THING THAT SEEMS TO WORK IN THE LONG RUN. THIS IS SOMETHING THEY SHOULD BE MANDATED TO DO!!!! CAR IS BARELY 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. RIDICULOUS! I WAS ENTERING A PARKING SPACE WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING ME TO DRIVE OVER THE PARKING CURB AND INTO A SHRUB. I WAS PULLING SLOWLY INTO THE SPACE AND THE CAR JUST LURCHED FORWARD, I QUICKLY HIT THE BRAKE. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT HURT AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKING SYSTEM SERVICE BULLETIN. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE RECEIVED THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN AND SERVICE BULLETIN, IN THE MAIL HE WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, IN NOVEMBER 2013, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DISPLAY SOME OF THE IDENTIFYING PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING AND OCCASIONALLY MADE A GRINDING NOISE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND VALIDATED HIS COMPLAINT AND THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SERVICE BULLETIN. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONSUMER LEFT THE DEALER, THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO SQUEAK. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER, FOR ITS 45,000 RECOMMENDED SERVICE. HE ASKED THE DEALER TO CHECK THE BRAKES, AS THEY WERE STILL GRINDING AND SQUEAKING. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE FRONT BRAKES WERE WORN TO A LEVEL OF 2MM, WHICH EXPLAINED THE SQUEAKING AND GRINDING. HELLO,MY QUESTION PERTAINS TO THE NISSAN ALTIMA AND MAXIMA. MAY I PREFACE MY STATEMENTS WITH THE FACT THAT I OWNED A 2005, 2009 AND 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA AND WHILE I TRADED MY LAST ONE IN FOR A DIFFERENT MAKE, I HAD VERY MUCH ENJOYED THE VEHICLE UNTIL I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A DANGEROUS FLAW IN THE ALTIMA AND, I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN, THE MAXIMA.IN MY 2011 ALTIMA, A SERIOUS PANIC STOP, LOCKING UP THE BRAKES, CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO NOT MOVE FOR 3-5 SECONDS. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND I HAD MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP LOOK AT THE VEHICLE EACH TIME AND EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR BUT IT REOCCURRED .AFTER RESPONSES FROM THE DEALERSHIP WENT NOWHERE, I CALLED THE MAIN NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE TRANSMISSION OF BOTH VEHICLES. THE SPECIAL SEAMLESS TRANSMISSION WILL CAUSE A 3-5 SECOND DELAY AFTER A PANIC STOP BUT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THAT TYPE OF TRANSMISSION. WHEN I ASKED WHAT TO DO IF THAT OCCURRED ON A FREEWAY WITH A TRUCK BARRELING DOWN ON ME THEY HAD NO ANSWER.NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT RESPONSE I CALLED A LOCAL RADIO AUTO TALK SHOW AND WAS REFERRED TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP AS HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT SPECIFIC PROBLEM. THE LOCAL AUTO SHOP CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND ALSO SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR BUT WHEN I TOOK THE OWNER OF THE SHOP OUT HE EXPERIENCED IT.HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD HEARD AND EXPERIENCED IT BUT UNLESS THERE WERE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FOR THAT SPECIFIC PROBLEM NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN.I NOW THROW OUT THIS ISSUE TO YOU. HAS THIS BEEN A REPORTED ISSUE? IS IT STILL A PROBLEM? AFTER MY EXPERIENCES I FELT VERY UNSAFE IN THE CAR. WE WON'T GO INTO THE RESPONSE I RECEIVE FROM NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE OR THAT LEMON LAWS DO NOT APPLY TO THIS ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED OKAY AND NOTHING FIXED.MY WRITING TO YOU IS BECAUSE THESE MODELS RECEIVED AWARDS FOR SAFETY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A POLE BECAUSE HE WAS UNABLE TO SEE WHILE TRYING TO PULL OVER AND PARK THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE LATER COULD NOT BE SHUT OFF USING THE PUSH-TO-START BUTTON. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO T REPROGRAMMED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ON MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S AT ABOVE 65 MPH, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING IT WAS OFF/ DISABLED AND STAYED OFF FOR THE WHOLE TRIP DURATION - ABOUT 45 MINUTES. AIR BAG LIGHT LOCATION IS IN THE CENTER OF DASHBOARD AND SHOULD LIGHT UP WHEN IS DISABLED OR NO PERSON IS SITTING ON PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS CLEARLY A MALFUNCTION AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO PROTECT HUMAN LIVES. AIR BAGS SAVE LIVES AND THEY SHOULD WORK ALL THE TIME NOT INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
THE CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED OVER 20 TIMES THIS PAST YEAR FROM NOT STARTING ( I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR A YEAR). ALL THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON BUT WHEN I PUSH THE START BUTTON IT WON'T DO ANYTHING. IT WILL JUMP OFF AND MIGHT RUN FOR WEEKS BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL FAIL ME AGAIN. I HAVE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP A COUPLE OF TIMES(WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY) AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE ALSO TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE SEVERAL TIMES (AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED) TO FIND OUT THERE WASN'T A BATTERY ISSUE. I RESEARCHED ONLINE TO FIND MANY MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHERS DOING THE SAME THING WITH MOST OF THEM SAYING ITS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. *TR
