ALL 4 WHEEL BEARINGS FAILED. NOISE LEVEL INCREASED WITH TIME AND EVENTUALLY CHANGED WHEN I WAS CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY. CONFIRMED BY MECHANIC, THAT ALL 4 BEARINGS WERE BAD. MECHANIC CHANGED BOTH FRONT BEARING FIRST BEFORE CHANGING BACK BEARING TO CONFIRM FAILURE ON BACK WHEEL BEARINGS AS WELL. CHANGED BEARINGS AT ABOUT 110,500 MILES. HAVE LOVED NISSAN BUT I'VE HAD TWO MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS WITH TWO VEHICLES AS OF LATE
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AT 6:15AM. THE CONTROL ARM BROKE WHILE I WAS MOVING AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR BECOME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, AS IF I WERE SLIDING ON ICE, HOWEVER IT IS JUNE 2019. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WASN'T INJURED OR KILLED. THERE WERE NO CARS NEAR ME, SO I PULLED OVER. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT THE STEEL CONTROL ARM HAD METAL FATIGUE OR SOME OTHER SORT OF DEFECT. I AM 60 YEARS OLD, AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN WITH ANY OTHER CAR. THE CAR DOES HAVE 165,000 MILES ON IT, ALL HIGHWAY. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH A 2013 MODEL YEAR. I FEEL THAT THE NISSAN PRODUCTS ARE NOT SAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE REAR WHEELS WOBBLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER, AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 34189745. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
AT 68936 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE RIGHT REAR WHEEL BEARING. NOW LESS THAN 5 MONTHS LATER THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER WHEEL BEARING AND HUB HAVE TO BE REPLACED MILEAGE NOW AT 74600. AFTER HAVING CHECKED WITH VARIOUS NISSAN SHOPS I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS AN UNUSUAL REPAIR AT THIS MILEAGE LEVEL FOR ONE MUCH LESS BOTH ASSEMBLIES.
ONE OF MY OEM MICHELIN PRIMACY MXV4 215/55 R17 TIRES DEVELOPED LARGE OPEN CRACK ABOUT 1-1/5 TO 2" LONG IN SIDEWALL. JUST HAPPENED TO NOTICE THE CRACK WHEN WASHING THE CAR. TIRE WAS REMOVED AND IT WASS DETERMINED THAT THE CRACK WENT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SIDE WALL AND ONLY A THIN RUBBER MEMBRANE INSIDE THE TIRE WAS HOLDING IN THE AIR. A MAJOR BLOWOUT COULD HAVE OCCURRED AT ANY TIME. TIRES WERE ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 43,000 MILES. THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
I HAD A BLOWOUT AND THIS WAS THE CLOSEST TIRE SHOP TO ME AT THE TIME. I ASKED AND WAS TOLD THAT THEIR USED TIRES ARE $30. OKAY, THAT'S FINE. THAT'S THE STANDARD RATE FOR USED TIRES. THE FIRST TIRE THEY TRIED TO SELL ME HAD TWO NAILS IN IT. THE GUY SHOWED ME THE TIRE BUT DIDN'T SHOW ME THE WHOLE TIRE UNTIL I ASKED TO SEE IT MYSELF. I POINTED OUT THE TWO NAILS THAT WERE OBVIOUS AND HE ACTED AS IF HE DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE ALREADY THERE. THE SECOND TIRE HAD LITTLE TO NO MEAT ON IT. I REFUSED THAT TIRE AND THEY TRIED TO OFFER THE TIRE FOR $28 INSTEAD OF $30. NO SALE. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANYMORE TIRES MY SIZE. MIRACULOUSLY, THE OWNER/MANAGER FOUND ANOTHER TIRE WITH SUFFICIENT TREAD AND NO HOLES. HOWEVER, THE OWNER/MANAGER SAID THAT THIS TIRE WOULD COST $35 INSTEAD OF $30 BECAUSE "IT'S A GOOD TIRE." I TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS NEITHER SAFE OR RIGHT TO TRY TO CHARGE ME $30 FOR TWO BAD TIRES AND $35 FOR A GOOD TIRE. I SHOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THE $35 TIRE, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO GO ELSEWHERE.
WHEN CROSSING AN INTERSECTION MY CAR STOPPED AND WOULD NOT GO FOR A FEW SECONDS. I WAS JUST FORTUNATE THERE WERE NO CARS COMING. IT'S HAS STOPPED LIKE THIS MANY TIMES I JUST HAVEN'T BEEN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. MY PREGNANT DAUGHTER WAS VERY UPSET WHEN IT HAPPENED TO HER ON AN OCCASION SHE WAS DRIVING IT. I'M ALSO EXTREMELY UNHAPPY ABOUT THE RUST IN MY WHEELS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT A 2013 CAR HAS THIS HAPPENING. I HAD A 2007 MONTARO THAT HAD LESS RUST AROUND ITS TIRES BEFORE I TRADED IT FOR THIS CAR. I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
I PURCHASED MY CAR AND 30 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE LOT, THE CHECK TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. MY HUSBAND CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE AND IT WAS FINE. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO HAVE A SENSOR REPLACED ON THE TIRE. *TR
I ALMOST HAD A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT ON 1-22-15. I WAS GOING ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE COMPLETELY DISENGAGED FROM THE TIRE RIM. ALL THAT WAS LEFT ON THE RIM WAS A TWO INCH REMNANT OF THE TIRE. I WILL E-MAIL YOU A PICTURE OF THE TIRE AND I ASSURE YOU THAT YOU NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE THIS. THE TIRE ONLY HAD 12034 MILES ON IT. THE TIRE WAS A MICHELIN ENERGY GREEN X. TIRE SIZE P215/55R17 WHICH WAS MADE IN CANADA. DOT B33F00RX0813. IT IS A MIRACLE I DID NOT GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I WAS SO UNNERVED I WENT TO THE NEAREST TIRE SHOP AND PURCHASED FOUR NEW GOODYEAR TIRES THAT COST ME $642.00. I CALLED MICHELIN'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. AND THEY SAID SORRY BUT THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME A DIME-AS EXPECTED. CHECK OUT A SITE CONSUMER AFFAIRS THAT HAS NO FEWER THAT 257 COMPLAINTS ABOUT MICHELIN TIRES.
