MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA FUEL GAUGE IS READING INCORRECTLY. WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE GETS DOWN TO 1/4 OF A TANK IT STOPS REGISTERING. I FOUND THIS OUT BECAUSE TWICE I THOUGHT I HAD A 1/4 OF A TANK LEFT BUT THERE WAS ACTUALLY NO GAS IN MY TANK AND I RAN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE NISSAN OF MCKINNEY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL AND COULDN'T FIX IT, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL FOR THE ARMADA. I SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT TO NISSAN AND THEY REJECTED MY REQUEST TO HAVE NISSAN PAY FOR IT BECAUSE MY VIN WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL. IF NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ARAMDA WHY WOULDN'T ALL ARMADA BE COVERED? *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND A CAR UNEXPECTEDLY PUT ON THE BRAKES IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO HIT MINE SUDDENLY. MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND MAKE A SOUND LIKE TIN CANS GETTING CRUSHED AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO DO THIS UNTIL I GOT TO MY DESTINATION. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. MY BRAKES WOULDN'T STOP CORRECTLY AND I WAS SCARED I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO STOP. I HAD MY HUSBAND LEAVE HIS JOB AN HOUR AWAY AND COME GET ME. HE DROVE IT TO THE CLOSEST BRAKE SHOP. THEY DIDN'T SEE ANY ISSUES SUCH AS PADS, FLUID, ETC AND IT WASN'T SYMPTOMATIC. WHEN TURNING OFF THE CAR AND BACK ON, IT CLEARED UP. THE BRAKE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN APPROX 1 1/2 WEEK LATER AND ON A SATURDAY, THEN ON THE SUN. I WAS NOT AT HOME AT THE TIME. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MY ARMADA HAD THIS ISSUE WITH 1000'S OF OWNERS OF THIS MODEL. THERE IS EVEN SERVICE TECH BULLETINS. THE CODE CLEARS AND WILL FIX TEMPORARILY WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I CAN EASILY LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT B/C THE BRAKES WILL NOT STOP LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IT WILL COST 810.00. THEY SAID NISSAN WILL NOT COVER IT SINCE IT IS NOT RECALLED. THIS IS NOT A MAINTAINANCE ISSUE THIS IS A FACTORY FLAW. THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T HAVE THE PART FOR 2 DAYS AND TOLD ME NOT TO GO GREAT DISTANCES BECAUSE THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER REPAIRS FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I SHOULD PROCEDE HOME WITH CAUTION. *TT
MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA HAS EXPERIENCED AN AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILURE DUE TO 'CONNECTOR' ISSUES AFFECTING BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE SEATS. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND HAS EVEN ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NTB06-001 REGARDING THE DEFECT. NISSAN IS FAILING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT IS A SAFETY RELATED DEFECT WHICH RENDERS THE AIRBAGS INOPERABLE. AS A RESULT I AM HAVING TO PAY OUT-OF-POCKET $650 FOR REPAIRS. *TR
MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA'S AIR BAG SRS SYSTEM IS INOPERABLE. THE DASHBOARD LIGHT INDICATED A FAILURE OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND I THOUGHT IT WAS REPAIRED AFTER SEVERAL INSTANCES. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS TO HAVE THE SRS SYSTEM REPAIRED. NISSAN CLAIMED IT HAS BEEN EVERYTHING FROM THE SEATBELT TENSIONERS, SENSOR MODULES UNDER THE SEATS TO BAD ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. ALL OF THESE COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT MY DASH LIGHTS SHOW I STILL HAVE INOPERATIVE AIRBAGS. THE SRS SYSTEM ON MY ARMADA IS CURRENTLY IN FAILURE AGAIN AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY NISSAN AGAIN TO ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE A SECOND ISSUE WITH THE ABS BRAKES ACTIVATING RANDOMLY DURING NORMAL SLOW SPEED STOPS IN WHICH THE BRAKES SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND WITH LITTLE STOPPING FORCE. IT SEEMS THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING UNDER LIGHT OPERATIONAL CONDITIONS. THIS HAS BEEN A RE-OCCURRING PROBLEM EACH SUMMER. NISSAN CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO I HAVE BEEN SENT HOME WITHOUT REMEDY. I AM COMPLAINING BECAUSE I HAVE NO OTHER RECOURSE EXCEPT TO WARN OTHERS BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED THROUGH THE FAILURE OF THE BRAKES OR THE AIRBAGS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED IN ANY MANNER. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR ALSO A GRINDING BANGING NOISE. I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND STARTED IT UP AND IT WAS FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR, THE LAST 2 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST WEEK. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS LEAVING WORK IN 2005 NISSAN ARMADA, HE HEARD A STRANGE GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM FRONT BRAKES AS HE TRIED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN THEN REALIZED HE HAD NO BRAKES. HE MANAGED TO DRIVE THE 10 MILES HOME WITH NO BRAKES. WE DROVE TO NEAREST NISSAN DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE IN THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND WOULD COST 900.00 TO FIX. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE FORUMS WE REALIZED THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH MANY MORE OWNERS, THAT NISSAN FAILS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT BEFORE NISSAN WILL ADMIT THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES FOR THIS MODEL. *TR
2005 NISSAN ARMADA- OUR PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE SAME AS COUNTLESS OTHERS WITH NO ANSWER IN SIGHT. WE WILL APPLY THE BRAKES WHEN WE ARE AT A SLOWER SPEED (<30MPH) AND THE BRAKES WILL FAIL. THEY PULSATE, GRIND, AND PUSH IN A SPONGEY FEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH VERY MINIMAL BRAKING RESULTS. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR WITH OUR 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER SO YOU CAN IMAGINE OUR CONCERN. WE ARE PLANNING TO SELL THE CAR AND GET SOMETHING ELSE, BUT WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE BRAKES FIXED FIRST. BUT FROM WHAT I SEE, NISSAN IS GOING TO DO NOTHING TO HELP AND THE GOVERNMENT MUST BE TURNING A BLIND EYE TO AN ISSUE THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK FOR NOT JUST OWNERS OF THESE ARMADAS, BUT FOR OTHER DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS WALKING THE STREETS AS WELL. *KB
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA, THE PROBLEM IS COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. WHEN TRAVELING AT SLOW SPEEDS (<20MPH) THE BRAKE SYSTEM GIVES OUT COMPLETELY. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, THE RED BRAKE DASH LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ABS AND VDC SYSTEMS GO INTO A CONFUSED ARRAY OF MIXED SIGNALS AND SOUNDS TRYING TO CORRECT THE FAILED BRAKE SYSTEM. AT THE TIME OF FAILURE THE BRAKING POWER IS <25% OF NORMAL. IN A PANIC STOP OR WHILE TRAILERING A LOAD THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO AVOID A CRASH AND INJURY. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED 5 TIMES IN ONE DAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NISSAN. THE SCARIEST PART OF THIS FAILURE IS THAT BY TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING IT, RESETS THE SYSTEM FAILURE AND EVERYTHING FUNCTIONS COMPLETELY NORMAL FOR A TIME, LEADING THE DRIVER TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS JUST A COMPUTER ERROR THAT NEEDED RESET. NISSAN REPORTED THAT IT WAS CODE C1179, DELTA SENSOR FAILURE AND REQUIRED A NEW DELTA SENSOR AND BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ONLY 39,458 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, THIS VEHICLE IS RATED TO TOW 9100LBS, WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS THE VEHICLE CAN BARELY STOP ITS OWN WEIGHT. THE STOPPING DISTANCE DURING FAILURE GOING 20MPH WAS APPROX. 200 TO 300 FEET WITH ONLY ONE OCCUPANT. NISSAN KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN I CALLED THEM SO I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE THIS OCCURRENCE. UPON RESEARCHING I FOUND 48 COMPLAINTS THAT MATCH MINE ON ABOUTAUTOMOBILES.COM. THESE PEOPLE ALL TOOK THE TIME LIKE ME TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND VOICE THEIR CONCERNS IN MUCH DETAIL. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING ON ANY VEHICLE. PLEASE CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT!!
WAS DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE STALLED IN INSIDE LANE AND WOULD NOT RESTART, FUEL TANK READ 1/4 TANK AND WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY PER SERVICE TICKET FROM NISSAN DEALER THAT IT WAS TOWED TO. THEY WOULD ONLY GIVE ME SOME OF THE MONEY I SPENT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON RECALL LIST, MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AND LOCAL DEALER WAS OF NO HELP WHEN OTHER PEOPLE THAT I KNOW PERSONALLY HAVE HAD THERE VEHICLE REPAIRED FRO FREE ACCORDING TO NISSAN WEB SITE 2005 ARMADAS ARE ON RECALL LIST BUT THEY KEEP SAYING MINES NOT INCLUDED, ALL I WANT IS TO BE TREATED FARILY

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE AND THE ENGINE BEGAN EXHIBITING AN UNUSUAL KNOCKING NOISE AS THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALE WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH ENGINE MANIFOLDS WERE FRACTURED AND THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REPLACING TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS SYSTEM ON MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES. THE BRAKES BEGIN TO GROAN, ARE SPONGY, HAVE REDUCED BRAKING POWER, AND MAKE A SOUND LIKE A LARGE SPRING BEING RELEASED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES THESE SYMPTOMS UNTIL THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF. THE SPEED AT WHICH THE EVENT OCCURS VARIES FROM 5 TO 50MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED AN AVERAGE OF ONCE EVERY 3 MOTHS SINCE MAY 2009. IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN THE SYSTEM RESETS AND PERFORMS NORMALLY. EACH TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP NO PROBLEM CODES COULD BE FOUND AND THERE WERE NO SYMPTOMS. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHILE THE MALFUNCTION WAS OCCURRING AND TAKE A TEST DRIVE WITH A TECHNICIAN. HIS FIRST WORDS UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE WERE ?SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE THE ABS ACTING UP.? HE THEN CHECKED FOR CODES AND FOUND C1179. THE TECHNICIAN REPROGRAMMED THE ABS UNDER NTB06-040 PROGRAM. ONE WEEK LATER THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY 2 TO 3 WEEKS SINCE. I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR IN AGAIN WHILE MALFUNCTIONING AND THE SAME PROBLEM CODE C1179 WAS FOUND EVEN AFTER THE TSB FIX. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL STREETS. BRAKING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES I COULD A HEAR GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR AND BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SPRINGY. TOOK IT TO LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECK. BUT ONCE THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND ON. PROBLEMS DISAPPEARS. DEALER UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEMS. ONCE I TOOK IT HOME BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. TURN CAR ON AND OFF AGAIN PROBLEM DISAPPEARS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS READING INACCURATELY AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. THE DRIVER IMMEDIATELY ADDED GASOLINE TO THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SHE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENDER UNIT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY INACCURATE READINGS THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM) YET THE CONTACTS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL PUMP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FAULTY FUEL GAUGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.
2005 NISSAN ARMADA BRAKE HYDRAULIC FAILURE. IT HAPPEN AT LEAST ONCE EVERY OTHER MONTH EVER SINCE I OWN THE ARMADA BACK WHEN IT'S ABOUT 15K MILES. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED AND COMING TO A STOP, THE BRAKE LIGHT LED UP AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS USELESS, IT MAKE GRINDING SOUND, SOUND LIKE SPRINGS POPPING OUT IN FRONT OF THE ARMADA FROM TIRES. ALMOST CRASH THE ARMADA INTO ANOTHER CAR STOPPING IN FRONT SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO USELESS BRAKES. TOOK IT THE MOSSY NISSAN HOUSTON, THEY CAN'T "REPLICATE" THE ISSUE BACK YEARS AGO. ONCE YOU SHUT OFF THE ARMADA, IT RESET AND IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUE, PERHAPS UNTIL SOMEONE GET HURT OR KILL??????! *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON DUE TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. RECEIVED WARRANTY NOTICE FROM NISSAN OF PROBLEM WITH CATALYTIC FAILURE, HOWEVER, MY MILEAGE PREVENTED FREE REPLACEMENT. MY STATE REQUIRE EMISSION TESTING EACH YEAR, THEREFORE, WITHOUT REPLACEMENT I WOULD BE UNABLE TO REGISTER MY TRUCK. MY TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW AND IS SERVICE ON A REGULAR BASIS. PAID FOR REPLACEMENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I WOULD BE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT AND I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND SUDDENLY HEAR A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. WHEN I PULL OVER AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN START OVER, IT WAS LIKE IT RESET ITSELF. I FREAKED OUT BECAUSE I HAD CHILDREN WITH ME. NISSAN, PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT!!! ALSO WHEN I TRY TO TURN MY AIR ON OR OFF I HEAR A VERY LOUD CLICKING NOISE. EVEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT TOUCHING THE AIR IT JUST RANDOMLY DOES IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 35-40 MPH, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DEFECT UNTIL DECEMBER OF 2010. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE SIMILAR FAILURE AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
11/10/10 WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK WAS NOT RESPONDING TO THE BRAKES I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AFTER I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTARTED IT. IT HAS HAPPEN LIKE 4 TIMES TO MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING WITH MY KIDS SO IM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND ALL THEY COULD SAY WAS THAT THEY NEEDED TO GET THE CODE FOR THEM TO TRY TO FIND OUT WAS WRONG WITH IT. IF THERE'S SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE AND SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF FUEL. IN ADDITION, ANOTHER DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER: STORAGE: FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM). THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD ASSIST WITH SOME OF THE REPAIR COSTS; THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 110,357.
AT ANY GIVEN TIME, THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL APPEAR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. DURING THIS TIME EXTRA EFFORT IS REQUIRED TO APPLY THE BRAKES WHEN TRYING TO STOP. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN TO HAPPEN TO DRIVERS OF 2005 NISSAN ARMADAS FOR A FEW YEARS AND NISSAN HAS YET TO PERFORM/ISSUE ANY CORRECTIVE ACTIONS. WHEN YOU TAKE THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED THEY TELL YOU IT'S THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IT WILL COST $900+ TO FIX. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. HE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS. ON 10/21/2010 THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE CALIPER FELL OFF OF OUR 2005 NISSAN ARMADA DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. DEALER INSPECTED AND STATED CALIPER BOLTS WERE "MISSING" AND MY WIFE "HAD SOMEONE WATCHING OVER HER" AND WAS LUCKY TO NOT HAVE SUSTAINED ANY INJURIES. VEHICLE HAS HAD NO RECENT SERVICE TO REAR WHEELS OR BRAKES. VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 77,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP HAS NO EXPLANATION FOR INCIDENT OTHER THAN VEHICLE BEING "TAMPERED WITH" AND TRIED TO USE THEFT OF CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AS AN EXAMPLE. *TR
I STARTED HAVING SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES WITH MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ARMADA BECAME DIFFICULT TO BRAKE. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. WHILE BRAKING, I COULD HEAR A GRINDING NOISE AND A SPRING POPPING. I ONLY HAD APPROXIMATELY 25 PERCENT BRAKING POWER. THE PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY AFTER I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON. SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE QUITE COMMON AND THE FIX TO BE QUITE SIMPLE: JUST TAKE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WITH FAULT CODE C1179 AND TSB NTB06-040 AND HAVE THEM REPROGRAM THE VDC. I DID SO. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT MY ARMADA DID SHOW FAULT CODE C1179, BUT THAT MY VEHICLE ALREADY HAD THAT LATEST SOFTWARE SO MY PROBLEM IS LIKELY NOT FIXED. $68 TO UPDATE NOTHING AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS LEFT ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE UNSAFE VEHICLE WITHOUT PROVIDING A FIX. I WANT NISSAN TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET SHOWS THAT NUMEROUS ARMADA OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY HUSBAND COMPLAINED TO NISSAN, BUT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. MY VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 79,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. AGAIN THE BRAKES DID NOT HAVE FULL POWER FOR 3-5 TIMES PRIOR TO GETTING IT TO THE DEALER. I WAS ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROBLEM TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC, BUT WHEN HE SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, THE PROBLEM RESOLVED. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE COMPUTER DID NOT HAVE ANY REPAIR CODES STORED, BUT THEY PERFORMED TSB 06-040, A COMPUTER SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE CAR WAS FINE UNTIL 6/25/10 WHEN THE PROBLEM RECURRED. IT OCCURRED THREE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. I STARTED TRACKING THE OCCURRENCES: 6/27 X 1, 6/28 X1. I MADE A APPOINTMENT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 6/29. I KEPT THE CAR AND IT REPRODUCED THE PROBLEM 7/1 AND 7/4@ 70,697MILES. I MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO ALLOW THEM TO TAKE THE CAR AND GET A LOANER SO THAT THEY COULD HOPEFULLY REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY BUT THE ELECTRICAL PARTS WERE STILL FUNCTIONING. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING AT A TIME WHEN THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAITED FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND TRIED TO RE-START THE VEHICLE HOPING THAT I COULD AT LEAST GET HOME. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE DID START BUT STALLED AND SHUT DOWN AGAIN A FEW BLOCKS FROM HOME WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 35MPH. AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED TO RE-START IT WITH NO SUCCESS. AT THIS POINT I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE IPDM AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE VEHICLE. I PICKED IT UP AND AFTER DRIVING ONLY 10 MILES, IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY CAME BACK SAYING THAT NOW THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE IPDM AND CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE ARMADA. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A RECALL SHOULD BE IN PLACE FOR THIS. I CAN ONLY THANK GOD FOR HELPING ME TO STAY CALM WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTDOWN AND THAT NEITHER MY KIDS OR I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. WHEN TRAVELING BACK FROM WASHINGTON D.C. IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I LOOKED AT THE SPEEDOMETER OF MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA AND NOTICED MY BRAKE LIGHT WAS LIT UP ON MY DASH AREA. WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES I HAD VERY MINIMAL BRAKING POWER APPROXIMATELY 20-30% AT BEST. THIS BECAME A VERY SERIOUS AND SCARY SITUATION WHEN WE REALIZED WE WERE HEADING INTO A TRAFFIC JAM! I WAS ABLE TO RIDE ON THE SHOULDER AND APPLY THE BRAKES UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO STOP BUT BY NO MEANS DID I HAVE THE BRAKING CAPABILITY THAT WE SHOULD HAVE. THE BRAKING SYSTEM SEEMS TO FIX ITSELF WHEN YOU TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTART THE CAR HOWEVER THIS DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE DOESN'T PROVIDE A CODE WHEN IT IS RESTARTED. WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE TO A SERVICE STATION THEY PROVIDED ME WITH A CODE TO GIVE TO MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AFTER DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH I WAS ASTONISHED TO FIND HOW MANY NISSAN OWNERS WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND HOW THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT REALLY FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE OUR 1ST INCIDENT BACK IN 2009 AND IT IS EXTREMELY SCARY. I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLES COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET OF THE SAME ISSUE AND NISSANS SUPPOSED FIXES THAT END UP NOT WORKING AND COSTING PEOPLE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. I SIMPLY WANT TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE WITHOUT FEAR OF MY BRAKES GOING OUT AND PUTTING MYSELF, CHILDREN AND OTHERS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. NISSAN NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION AND FIX THE PROBLEM ASAP BECAUSE IF HAD I NOT BEEN ABLE TO PULL OFF ON TO THE SHOULDER OR OFF INTO A GAS STATION WHEN THIS HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING IT COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR POSSIBLY DEATH. I AM ABOUT READY TO GO TO THE NEWS WITH THIS STORY BECAUSE NISSAN IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM NOR IS THERE A RECALL FOR THE ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHEN THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIATOR EXHIBITED A HOLE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS ALSO FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000. UPDATED 10/13/10*BF UPDATED 10/19/10*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE VEHICLE SLOWLY BEGAN TO LOSE POWER UNTIL FINALLY STALLING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE ROADWAY. A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED WHO ADDED MORE GASOLINE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT DROVE TO A LOCAL FUEL STATION AND REFUELED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD INDICATE THE FUEL TANK WAS ONE HALF FULL WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY. HE WAS ABLE TO LOCATE NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER: STORAGE: FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM) BUT WHEN INQUIRING WITH THE DEALER, HE WAS TOLD HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
IN THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT, I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT SLOW SPEED (APPROX. 10 MPH). WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE NOSE OF THE VEHICLE DOVE DOWN. FRONT BRAKES MADE A LOUD BANGING SOUND AND VIBRATION COULD BE FELT IN VEHICLE CABIN. THERE WAS A CONSIDERABLE REDUCTION IN BRAKE PERFORMANCE, TO THE POINT OF FAILURE. BRAKE LIGHT IN VEHICLE ILLUMINATED AS WELL. THESE SAME SYMPTOMS HAVE OCCURRED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, UNDER VARIOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO LOCAL DEALER TODAY AND A FULL DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM WAS PROVIDED. DEALER RE-PROGRAMMED VDC (CODE 1179) AT A COST TO ME, BUT WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THIS WOULD PERMANENTLY FIX THE PROBLEM. IF PROBLEM PERSISTS, DEALER RECOMMENDS DELT STROKE SENSOR/BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACEMENT AT CONSIDERABLE COST TO ME. AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THIS CONDITION COULD BE DEADLY. *TR

STILL OCCURRING EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE . . .ONCE EVER SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT CANNOT REPRODUCE EXACT SYMPTOMS AT DEALER. 10/20/2008: WHEN BRAKING THERE IS INTERMITTENTLY A PULSATION,DECREASED BRAKING ABILITY, BRAKE LIGHT ON. SYMPTOM APPEARED AND STOPPED AT LOCAL MECHANIC. HE TESTED CAR, BUT SYMPTOMS DISAPPEAR WHEN CAR SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. DEALER FOUND NO CODES PRESENT. NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE PROBLEM. PERFORMED TSB 06-040 AND ADVISED IT MAY NOT FIX PROBLEM. BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH BOARD, PUSH BRAKES AND IT MAKES THIS GRINDING NOISE AND THE BRAKES LOSE MOST OF THEIR POWER. AFTER I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN OFF ENGINE AND TURN IT BACK ON LIGHT GOES OFF. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN 2010..IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN IN 2013 A COUPLE OF TIMES AND NOW IT DOES IT ALL OF THE TIME IN 2014. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND A LOT OF THE TIME HAVE MULTIPLE KIDS IN THE CAR THAT DO NOT BELONG TO ME. IT IS A VERY SCARY THOUGHT THAT THE BRAKES WILL JUST STOP WORKING. I JUST GOT NEW BRAKES AROUND 6 MONTHS AGO AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING A LOT MORE SINCE THAN. MULTIPLE BRAKE FAILURES WITH MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. NISSAN MOTOR AMERICA IS WELL AWARE OF THE SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECTS IN MY VEHICLE BUT WILL NOT HONOR THE 2 TIMES OF A MAJOR SYSTEM FAILURE TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME I HAVE HAD A MAJOR BRAKE FAILURE ON THE VEHICLE INCLUDING ITS SYSTEMS AND COMPUTER COMPONENTS. PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN MY VEHICLE 4 TIMES. IN SHORT, MASTER VACCUM, MASTER CYLINDER, ABS CONTROL UNIT, ALL WERE REPLACED AGAIN. NISSAN FP NUMBERS: 47660-ZQ21B ACTUATOR ASSY. 47210-ZC01C MASTER VAC ASSY, 46010-7S20A CYL BRAKE MASTER, WIRING CONNECTORS, BRAKE FLUID...ETC, ETC. THIS IS ANOTHER FAILURE ATTEMPT FOR NISSAN TO SKIRT THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS ISSUES OF MY VEHICLE AND HUNDREDS OF OTHERS IF NOT THOUSANDS. SERVICE ADVISOR FROM TOWN NISSAN IN WENATCHEE MENTIONED THAT THE ROTORS HAS BEEN TURNED. WORK NOT PERFORMED. LIED TO ME AS A CUSTOMER. NOW I HAVE MAJOR BREAK FADE FROM MY VEHICLE BEING TESTED FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND DUPLICATE THE FAILURE INITIALLY AND ROAD TESTING IT FOR PROPER FUNCTION. THE FIRST 3 BRAKE FAILURES OCCURRED WITHIN THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF THE VEHICLES LIFE. 3200 MILES - ROTORS FAILED, 5800 MILES-MAJOR BRAKE FAILURE ALL COMPONENTS REPLACED. 13,000 MILES-ANOTHER MAJOR BRAKE FAILURE, PARTS REPLACED AGAIN, 22,000 MILES ROTORS WARPED & REPLACED. 28,000 MILES, BRAKE FAILURE AGAIN, MAJOR SYSTEMS REPLACED AGAIN. 49,000 MILES AGAIN BRAKES FAILED. MAJOR SYSTEMS REPLACED. WHEN WILL NISSAN LISTEN? AFTER A DEATH IN A SCHOOL ZONE? CROSSWALK? MYSELF? REPLACEMENT OF PARTS IS A POOR ATTEMPT FOR NISSAN. *TR
