TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THERE WERE SEVERAL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE INDICATORS CONSISTED OF THE VDC, ENGINE AND TIRE PRESSURE. THE OTHER INCLUDED INDICATOR WAS THE SLIP WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
IT APPEARS THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WITH A BRAKE ISSUE WITH OUR 2006 NISSAN ARMADA AND WOULD HOPE SOMETHING COULD BE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT NISSAN HAS AN ISSUE WITH THEIR BRAKE ISSUES. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO A DEALER IN SEBRING FLORIDA LAST YEAR AND I BELIEVE I TRIED TO HAVE ANOTHER DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT BEFORE LAST YEAR WHEN IT WAS IN WARRANTY. OF COURSE, THEY DON'T WANT TO ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THEY JUST WANT TO TELL YOU IT IS THIS OR THAT...BRAKE BOOSTER...CYLINDROID...SENSOR...WELL, THE DEALERSHIP IN SEBRING DID DO SOMETHING WITH THE SENSOR AND COULD NOT GUARANTEE IT WOULD SOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE IS GARAGED KEPT AND HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN 2000 MILES SINCE THEY DID WHATEVER THEY DID. IF YOU GO ONLINE, YOU WILL FIND MANY OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO DO SOMETHING TO GET THEM TO ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM? .....SOMEONE TO DIE...SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE ANYONE WILL DO SOMETHING. YOU WOULD THINK THAT WHEN YOU PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR A VEHICLE THAT YOU WOULD QUALITY AND IT TO LAST MORE THAN A COUPLE YEARS BEFORE MAJOR REPAIRS WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE. I HAVE A 2003 FORD FOCUS THAT WE BOUGHT USED AND HAS OVER 120,000 AND WELL MAINTAINED AND ONLY MINOR NORMAL REPAIRS. THE ISSUE WITH BRAKES DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME...WHEN IT DOES, THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THEN AS YOU TRY TO BRAKE ....THE BRAKE PEDDLE WILL GO TO THE FLOOR, MAKE A HORRIBLE CRUNCH NOISE AND NO BRAKES. WE BOUGHT THIS TO PULL OUR 2006 FORREST RIVER TOY HAULER WHICH WE HAVE ONLY USE UP TO OR AT MOST 3-4 TIMES TO DAYTONA, WHICH IS ONLY 3 HOURS AWAY....WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE NEXT TIME WE USE OUR TRAILOR WITH THE ARMADA .AND NO BRAKES? PLEASE I ASK THAT YOU VIEW OTHERS COMPLAINTS TO MAKE A RECALL ON WHAT COULD HORRIFIC ACCIDENT WITH LOST OF LIVES AND COULD BE PREVENTED. WE/OTHERS ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE THAT WE DON'T REALLY WANT TO GET RID OF. *TR
I WAS COMING UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND WENT TO USE THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL HESITATED AND WOULD NOT GRAB NORMAL LIKE THEY USUALLY DO. THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOW ON, SO I DECIDED TO PULL OVER IN A PARKING LOT AND TRY AND LOOK TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD TO MAKE SURE I HAD FLUID AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING OBVIOUS. EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOT ON ANYMORE AND THE BRAKES WERE WORKING. A FEW MONTHS WENT BY AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAS STARTED TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY. I SAW A TREND WHERE IT WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING FOR ONE-TWO HOURS ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WOULD NOTICE THE BRAKE LIGHT COME ON. I WOULD MAKE SURE THAT I WOULD START SLOWING DOWN AND TRYING TO BRAKE A LOT SOONER THAN I WOULD NORMALLY HAVE TO. RECENTLY THIS HAS STARTED TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY EVEN WHEN I AM DOING SHORT DISTANCE DRIVING NEAR MY HOME. I HAVE BEEN TO THREE DIFFERENT SHOPS TO LOOK AT MY BRAKES AND EVEN SPENT OVER $600 TO GET NEW BRAKES AND CHECK EVERYTHING OUT AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE WORKING PROPERLY, BUT IT STARTED HAPPENING A WEEK AFTER. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THIS TO A NISSAN DEALER AND THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE. I PLAN ON BRINGING MY ARMADA TO A DEALER LATER THIS WEEK. I FELL UNLESS THE BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING RIGHT WHEN I BRING IT IN, THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. THE BRAKE PEDAL / BRAKES NOT WORKING WHEN I GO TO BRAKE HAVE HAPPENED WELL OVER 25 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. I HOPE IT DOES NOT TAKE SOMETHING TRAGIC TO HAPPEN FOR NISSAN TO ADDRESS THIS AND ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM RESET TO NORMAL WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF FOR A MOMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD AN ENGINEER TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE, WHO WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE, ADJUSTED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, SERVICED THE ROTORS AND BLED THE BRAKES BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
AS I AM DRIVING MY 2006 NISSAN ARMADA, MY BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON MY DASHBOARD AND I LOOSE BRAKING POWER. CLUNKING/SPRINGING NOISES SIMULTANEOUSLY BEGIN. IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND ON, THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS. THERE IS NO COMMON FACTOR AS TO WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS REPROGRAMMED - A REPAIR NISSAN INDICATED WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. YET, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR AND NISSAN IS UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM TO DATE. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET SHOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS QUITE COMMON FOR OWNERS OF 2006 NISSAN ARMADAS, GIVE OR TAKE A FEW YEARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND COMPLETING A LEFT TURN, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD SOUND AND ACTIVATE THE ABS SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
BRAKE LIGHT FLICKERED AND, WHEN BRAKE WAS APPLIED IT MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND WITH GREATLY REDUCED BRAKING POWER. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES AND I TOOK IT TO NISSAN DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS LOW BRAKE FLUID. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE AGAIN WITH THE FLUID LEVEL AT PROPER AMOUNT. TOOK IT TO NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAY IT IS A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER. A REVIEW OF ARMADA AND NISSAN TITAN MESSAGE BOARDS REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON (AND VERY DANGEROUS) PROBLEM THAT IS KNOWN TO NISSAN. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS 2006 NISSAN ARMADA BRAND NEW. I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY. THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES ON AND A GRIDING NOISE COMES OUT WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID IT SOFWARE ISSUE WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE AND IT WORKED FOR COUPLE OF YEARS THEN AGAIN AND AGAIN, I SPEND ABOUT $160 EACH TIME TO CORRECT THE SOFTWARE NOW. THIS TIME THEY SAID IT NEEDS SOME PARTS AND SOFTWHERE UPGRADE ABOUT $750, SO I PARKED THE CAR AND I'M LOOKING FOR OTHER ALTERNATIVES. ANY ONE KNOW OF A RECALL RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. *JS
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND I GO TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND MY BRAKES MADE SHUTTERING AND CLANGING NOISES. THEN I NOTICE THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO STOP I HEARD THAT NOISE AND HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME STOPPING I ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS ABOUT 20 MILES FROM THE DEALER SO I PUT MY HAZARD LIGHT ON AND DROVE ON THE FAR LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE BETWEEN 10 TO 30 MILES/HR IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC UNTIL I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP. ONCE I GOT TO THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED MY PROBLEM. HE SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT IT WAS LIKE HE HAD EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH THAT PARTICULAR PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY THE DEALER CALLED ME TO EXPLAIN THAT THE DELTA SENSOR INSIDE THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED AND IT WOULD COST ME OVER $900.00. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACTED STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR. THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED TEN MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL REMEDY WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WHILE DRIVING @ APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AND SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, I NOTICED THAT MY PARKING BRAKE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH EVEN THOUGH I DON'T HAVE IT ON. WHEN I TRIED TO STEP ON THE BRAKE TO STOP, A GRINDING NOISE WAS OBSERVED COMING FROM MY TIRES AND THE VEHICLE SHAKING AS IF MY BRAKES LOCKED ON MY TIRES. SAME THING HAPPENED AFTER I MADE A LEFT TURN AND STOPPED ON A 4- WAY STOP. *KB
AS I WAS DRIVING AT STOP AND GO TRAFFIC SPEEDS OF 25 MPH OR LESS, MY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON WITH A SPONGY FEELING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AS WELL AS A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE BRAKES. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO SEARS AND THEY DID A BRAKE INSPECTION (MECHANICAL) AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. PAID FOR A BRAKE INSPECTION AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF BRAKE PADS BUT I HAD RECENTLY INSPECTED BRAKES AT ANOTHER SHOP THAT DID NOT RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT. ON 2/28/12, SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AND I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, INSPECTED BRAKE FLUID (SAT) AND STARTED THE ENGINE BACK UP WITH NO SIGNS OF FAILURE. TOOK VEHICLE TO MY PERSONAL MECHANIC AND CODE READER FOUND C1179 DELTA STROKE SENSOR FAULT. HE RESET IT AND PROBLEM HAS SINCE GONE AWAY BUT I AM WEARY OF BRAKE RELIABILITY IN THE FUTURE. *TR
DURING NORMAL DRIVING BRAKE LIGHT SUDDENLY COMES ON. BRAKING POWER IS SEVERELY REDUCED AND THERE IS A LOUD MECHANICAL NOISE. AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF THE FAULT RESETS ITSELF AND DISAPPEARS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR. THIS IS UNPREDICTABLE AND COULD EASILY CAUSE A CRASH IF IT HAPPENED AT THE WRONG TIME. *TR
FIRST OCCURRENCE NOTED IN NOV 2011. WHILE DRIVING, HAD SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING POWER, WITH BRAKE LIGHT ON, GROANING NOISE, STIFF BRAKING MOTION. WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH WITH GREATLY REDUCED POWER. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, AND PROBLEM WAS GONE UPON RESTARTING. TOOK IT IN TO DEALER, WHO REPROGRAMMED VDC. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. HAVE HAD RE-OCCURRENCE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, BUT NOTING INCREASING FREQUENCY. HAD FRONT BRAKES REPLACED LAST WEEK. NOTED SAME PROBLEM DRIVING HOME FROM BRAKE REPLACEMENT. CALLED TWO AREA NISSAN DEALERS TODAY, AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE COMPLETELY UNFAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT I HAD THE VDC REPROGRAMMED AT ONE OF THESE DEALERSHIPS IN 2011. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM, AND SEE COUNTLESS OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, DEFINITIVELY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TANK ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL LINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO REPAIRS THAT WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE ONE YEAR PRIOR TO THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM). THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS MY RECENTLY PURCHASED 2006 ARMADA HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES WHERE THE BRAEK LIGHT COMES ON, THERE IS A TERRIBLE GRINDING SOUND, & I LOSE ABOUT 75% OF MY BRAKE FUNCTION. I ONLY PURCHASED THIS TRUCK ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO & IT HAS HAPPENED 3X. NO TELLING HOW MANY TIMES IT HAPPENED TO THE PREVIOUS OWNERS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. NISSAN FAILS TO RECOGNIZE THIS IS HAPPENING EVEN THOUGH A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH WILL SHOW 100S, IF NOT 1000S OF ARMADA OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. SOMETHING NEEDS DONE ASAP!! MY WIFE HAS EXPERIENCED OUR NISSAN 06 ARMADA LOSING BRAKING POWER. IT FIRST STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND SHE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A BRAKE ISSUE. HAVE HAD IT TO A BRAKE SHOP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND HAVE FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE THIS WEEK. I THEN WENT ON A NISSAN FORUM AND OTHER INTERNET SITES TO SEE THAT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH NISSAN ARMADA BRAKE/ABS ISSUES. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR US AS AN OWNER AND SHOULD BE TO ANYONE READING THIS POST. THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE BRAKING AND IT COMES OUT OF NOW WHERE..I WAS ON A FLAT SURFACE HEADING TO A RED LIGHT... THE ABS KICKED IN AND THE BRAKING POWER WENT TO ABOUT 30 %. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ONLY ENGAGED ABOUT 1/3 OF THE DISTANCE AND GRINDING STARTED AND CONTINUE TILL I CAME TO A STOP I HAD TO MANUALLY SHIFT DOWN IN ORDER TO STOP AT THE RED LIGHT. I SET MY FLASHERS,TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND GOT OUT.. DIDN'T SEE OR SENSE ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY OTHER THAN I HAD VERY LITTLE BRAKING POWER AND BRAKES WERE GRINDING..TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE BRAKES WORKED FINE. I KNOW THE PADS AND ROTORS ARE GOOD, JUST HAD THEM CHECKED ON MY STATE INSPECTION. THIS IS ALARMING BECAUSE THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND SHE DRIVERS OUR KIDS AROUND IN IT... SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO KEEP THIS INCIDENT FROM BECOMING SOMETHING MUCH WORSE... I SENSE IT IS A SENSOR ISSUE OR SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT BECAUSE IT COMES OUT OF NO WHERE WHILE BRAKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE THE BRAKES FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
DRIVING OUR NISSAN ARMADA AT APPRX 15MPH AND WENT OVER A TREE BRANCH THAT COULD NOT BE AVOIDED THAT HAD FALLEN, WITH NO INJURY TO OUR VEHICLE BUT CAUSED A LARGE LEAK IN THE GAS TANK. NOW THE PUNCTURED GAS TANK HAS TO BE REPLACED. THE RISK OF THIS LARGE PUNCTURE IN THE TANK FROM SUCH A MINOR IMPACT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN EXPLOSION OF THE VEHICLE. FUEL TANKS SHOULD NOT BE MADE IN A MANNER THAT THEY ARE SO VULNERABLE TO DAMAGE BECAUSE IT IS A HAZARD. *TT

THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT PRODUCED THE PART FOR DISTRIBUTION TO THE DEALERS. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED NUMEROUS DEALERS AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN LOCATING THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.
I BOUGHT MY NISSAN ARMADA BRAND NEW IN 2007. IT IS A 2006 MODEL. THE VEHICLE IS VERY STYLISH BUT IT IS LIKE A DEATH TRAP. WHEN THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY RAN OUT @ 36,000 MILES, MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE. EVERY YEAR I HAVE HAD TO GET BRAKES PUT ON THE ARMADA AND IT HAS TO BE NISSAN BRAKES BECAUSE I TRIED OTHER BRAKES AND THEY SQUEAL AND GRIND. NOW I HAVE AN RATHER SCARY SITUATION. I HAVE READ SEVERAL REVIEWS AND THEY ARE ARE HAVING ABS ISSUES. COME ON NISSAN, HOW MANY LIVES HAVE TO BE LOST OR INJURED BEFORE YOU RECALL THIS ABS PROBLEM? THIS EXPERIENCE HAPPENED YESTERDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2013 WITH MY FAMILY IN TRAFFIC. I'M ENTERING THIS REPORT FOR THE TIME IT FIRST HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES FOR MY WIFE WHO IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER. IN TOTAL THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 10 TIMES. ONE SEPTEMBER 6, 2011 I WAS DROPPING KIDS OFF IN SCHOOL WHERE THE TEACHERS CONTROL HOW WE APPROACH AND ALLOW THE KIDS TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. I WAS IN THE NEXT GROUP TO PULL FORWARD. AS I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, THERE WAS NOT ANY REDUCTION IN SPEED. THE BRAKES MADE A HOLLOW METAL SCRAPING SOUND BUT DID NOT STOP THE CAR. I RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF US SINCE THERE WAS WAY TO TURN WITH SCHOOL KIDS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR. WE GOT OUT AND DETERMINED THE SUV I HIT WAS NOT DAMAGED AND WE SETTLED THE ACCIDENT WITH A LUNCH SINCE WE WERE FRIENDS. AS I WAS DRIVING ENTERING THE INTERSTATE FROM THE ON RAMP A CAR IN FRONT OF ME HIT THEIR BRAKES. AS I WENT TO APPLY MY BRAKES THEY MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND, THE BRAKE LIGHT FLASHED AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I HAD TO SWERVE TO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID A CRASH. I WAS OPERATING MY 2006 NISSAN ARMADA AND WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON. I TESTED THE BRAKES AND IMMEDIATELY HEARD A GRINDING AND POPPING NOISE AND NOISES THAT INDICATED TO ME THAT THE ABS WAS ACTIVATING OFF AND ON. THE PEDAL WAS VERY SOFT AND MY BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS WAS SEVERELY DIMINISHED. HAD I NEEDED TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP OR BEEN EXPECTING MY BRAKES TO REACT NORMALLY, I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP IN A SAFE DISTANCE. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND VISUALLY INSPECTED THE BRAKES AND FOUND NO ISSUES. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND SAW THAT IT WAS FINE (JUST BELOW THE MAX MARK AND WELL ABOVE THE MIN). BY THIS TIME MY BRAKE LIGHT, VDC OFF, AND SLIP LIGHT WERE ALL ILLUMINATED. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF THEN RESTARTED IT. THE THREE LIGHTS WERE STILL LIT, BUT THE BRAKES WERE REACTING NORMALLY. ERROR CODE C1179 WAS PULLED FROM THE VDC MODULE. EVENTUALLY, THE BRAKE BOOSTER (WITH THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR) AND THE PRESSURE SENSORS WERE REPLACED BY THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AT MY EXPENSE. WHILE DRIVING, THE FOLLOWING INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON: VDC, ABS AND BRAKE. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THERE WAS A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WHICH SCARED ME TO DEATH. I FOUND OUT AFTERWARDS THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL OF THE VERY SAME ISSUE BUT NOT ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THE VIN DID NOT MATCH THE RECALL. VERY SUSPECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING FOLLOWED BY BRIEF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND STALLING. THE VEHICLE WOULD IMMEDIATELY RESTART AS THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR AT LEAST TWICE WITHIN ONE MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) RELAY FAILED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL BUT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V517000- ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
WHILE CROSSING A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY, I ALMOST GOT TO THE STREET ON THE OTHER SIDE WHEN ANOTHER CAR CRASHED INTO THE FRONT END OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. I NEVER SAW THE CAR WHEN I PULLED OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, AND I HAD EVEN BEEN VERY CAUTIOUS TO MAKE SURE IT WAS CLEAR. I JUST FELT A HORRIBLE IMPACT, AND WE BOTH LANDED INTO THE STREET OF MY DESTINATION. THE CAR WAS IN MY BLIND SPOT. THERE ARE TWO DANGEROUS AND DEADLY BLIND SPOTS ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ON EITHER SIDE. THE DIVIDERS OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND SIDE DOOR WINDOWS ARE EXTREMELY WIDE AND IN ADDITION TO THIS, THE SIDEVIEW MIRRORS ARE ON THE SAME LEVEL AS THE BLIND SPOT FURTHER BLOCKING THE DRIVER'S VISION. NOT ONLY DOES THE DRIVER NOT SEE OTHER VEHICLES, THE DRIVER ALSO DOES NOT SEE PEOPLE AND CHILDREN. I HAVE HAD A JOGGER IN MY BLIND SPOT, AND IT SCARED ME TO DEATH. OTHER PEOPLE I KNOW WHO HAVE NISSAN ARMADAS HAVE ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT ALMOST RUNNING OVER PEOPLE AND CHILDREN. I AM NOW PROCEEDING WITH TRADING IN THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS VEHICLE. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT AN INVESTIGATION WILL RESULT IN SOME TYPE OF CORRECTION TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVING MY 2006 ARMADA, AND WHEN I WENT TO STOP, THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THERE WAS NO BRAKING POWER. I SLOWED TO A STOP AND HAD TO TURN OFF THE TRUCK AND BACK ON AND THE NOISE AND GRINDING WAS GONE. SUV FAILED TO STOP PROPERLY,BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED AND VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE. PULLED OVER AND TURN CAR OFF AND PROBLEM WENT AWAY. DROVE TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS REPAIRED THE SAME DAY. SERVICE CENTER KNOWS OF PROBLEM DUE TO BULLETIN BUT SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL, INCIDENT PUT ME AND MY PASSENGER IN SERIOUS DANGER. DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL SUV.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL GRINDING AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD ACTIVATE ABNORMALLY CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN STOPPING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE .THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS TO RESET THE CODES FOR THE ABS ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

AN ESTIMATE OF RECORD WAS ORIGINATED AT TOYOTA OF NORTH CHARLOTTE AFTER THE COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER THE COLLISION DESPITE THE MULTIPLE DAMAGES AND MY MINOR INJURY. THERE HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING AIRBAG DIAGNOSTIC CODE THAT HAS BEEN MONITORED DURING OTHER GENERAL MAINTENANCE REPAIRS THAT WERE COMPLETED. IT HAS NOT BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION IF THE VEHICLE CONTAINS A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG SYSTEM. I AM TRYING TO OBTAIN THE NISSAN PART NUMBERS/DESCRIPTIONS FOR THE ORIGINAL AIRBAGS WITHIN MY 2006 ARMADA. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE THIS DATA EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, REPAIRED AND INSPECTED AT THAT LAKE NORMAN-CORNELIUS LOCATION. *JS *JS
