TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINENTAL GRABBER AW TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE AND DAMAGED THE SIDE PANEL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE REAR FENDER. THERE WAS NO CRASH AND THE CONTACT DID NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE TIRES HAVE NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE TIRE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. ON JUNE 30 MY NISSAN FRONTIER BROKE DOWN. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE WEBSTER NISSAN OFFICE. I SPOKE WITH BRIAN AT NISSAN ON JULY 1ST AND HE TOLD ME THAT MY TRUCK WOULD EITHER BE FIXED ON JULY 7/3 OR 7/8. THE PART THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE IS SAFETY RECALL FROM 2003 THAT IS AN ISSUE WITH FUEL SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK. I CONTACTED 1-800-NISSAN1 ON 7/3 IN SEARCH OF A LOANER CAR UNTIL THEY COULD GET MY TRUCK FIXED. GINGER AT 1-800-NISSAN1 OPENED A TICKET AND TOLD ME SOME ONE WOULD CONTACT AFTER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I SPOKE CATHERINE THE REGION REPRESENTATIVE FOR NISSAN ON 7/7 AND SHE SAID THAT NISSAN WILL NOT PROVIDE A LOANER CAR BECAUSE MY IS OFF WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED TO HER THE REASON MY TRUCK BROKE DOWN WAS BECAUSE SAFETY RECALL PART THAT NISSAN WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR. SHE SAID AGAIN NISSAN WILL NOT PROVIDE ME CAR. AFTER I SPOKE WITH CATHERINE : ON 7/7 BRIAN INFORMED ME THE PARTS THEY NEEDED ARE ON BACK ORDER AND IT COULD TAKE NINETY DAYS TO GET THE PART. I CONTACTED 1-800-NISSAN1 AGAIN AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE BACK ORDER ON THE PARTS. THEY HAD CATHERINE CONTACT ME 7/8 AND SHE MESSAGE AT HOME THAT THEY WILL TRY TO GET THE PART SOON. I CALLED CATHERINE BACK ON 7/8 AND ASK TO CALL ME BACK. CATHERINE CALLED ME 7/9/08 AND TOLD ME NISSAN STILL WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME A LOANER CAR EVEN THOUGH IT'S NISSAN'S FAULT. SHE SAID IF OBTAIN A LAWYER SHE MAKE IT HARDER FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE PART TO FIX MY TRUCK. *TR
I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE DOT ALLOWS HEADLIGHTS TO BE PRODUCED THAT BECOME CLOUDY, YELLOW, AND HAZED AFTER A COUPLE OF YEARS. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE LIKE THIS IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT. *TR
I PURCHASED 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER XE AND HAVE HAD TO DO MAJOR REPAIR ON IT. CARFAX REPORTS THREE RECALLS;ONLY TWO OF WHICH I CAN CONFIRM ATTENDED TO. THE ISSUES ARE SUSPENSION AN DFUEL: THROTTLE LINKAGES AND CONTROL AND FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP. DESPITE THE WORK I HAVE ALSO HAD DONE ON THESE ISSUES THE TRUCK STILL HAS PROBLEMS: FAILS TO ACCELERATE AT TIMES AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BETWEEN 60K AND 100K AND MAKES STEERING DIFFICULT. I AM TRYING TO WORK THIS OUT WITH DEALERSHIP BUT THEY ARE BEATING AROUND THE BUSH. I FEEL VERY MUCH THAT FIXING THIS VEHICLE IS LIKE CHASING GHOSTS AND THAT IT IS A LEMON. THE INCIDENT DATE IS MY DATE OF PURCHASE. *TR
GAS FUMES ARE SMELLED AFTER FILLING UP AT THE GAS STATION. THEY ARE NOT SMELLED INSIDE THE VEHICLE, ONLY OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE BY THE GAS TANK. NO LIQUID GAS DRIPPINGS ARE NOTICED. DASHBOARD CODE LIGHT COMES ON. THE CODE DESCRIPTION SAYS SMALL LEAK DETECTED. SECOND CODE SAYS VERY SMALL LEAK DETECTED. GAS CAP IS TIGHT AND WAS INSPECTED FOR LEAKS. ALSO NEW CAP WAS INSTALLED. NO EFFECT TO CHANGE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 40 MPH, IT BEGAN TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTRACT STATED THAT THE ALIGNMENT WOULD BE SERVICED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. BY THAT TIME, THE ALIGNMENT FAILURE BECAME WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO WORSEN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,412.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH HE HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE VEHICLE SWERVED TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS LOWER THAN THE OTHER. HE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE TORSION BAR FAILED. THE DEALER HAS NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 78,000. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE FAILUREWAS RELATED TO RECALL #02V299000 REGARDING REAR AXLE. THE RECALL STATES THAT: ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, WATER MAY ENTER THE REAR AXLE HOUSING DUE TO INADEQUATE SEALING OF THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) SENSOR. THIS COULD RESULT IN CORROSION AND EVENTUAL FAILURE OF THE WHEEL BEARING. IF THIS OCCURRED THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY COULD SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. HE STATED THAT ONE OF THE SEALS WAS BLOWN AND IT NOW HAS WATER IN IT. HE CALLED NISSAN, AND THEY SAID THAT THEREWAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT, THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. HE ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL FOREIGN DEALER AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE PROBLEMWAS A DEFINITE ISSUE RELATING TO THE RECALL, AND THAT HE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT HE DRIVE ANYWHERE BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE THE PROBLEM TO WORSEN. HE STATED THAT WHEN HE DROVE THE CAR THE WHEELS BECAME TO ROTATE, AND WHEN HE WENT TO PULL THE CAP OFF THERE WAS A MILKY SUBSTANCE, WHICH INDICATED THAT THERE WAS WATER IN THE AXLE. MY VEHICLE IS A 2002 NISSAN PATHFINDER. IT ONLY HAS ABOUT 55,000 MILES. FOR A LONG TIME, I'VE HEARD KINDA ABNORMAL NOISE. COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE EXHAUST PIPES ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ARE CRACKED RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE. ONE SIDE COSTS OVER $450 FROM DEALER. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT AND MANY PATHFINDER OWNERS ARE REPORTING THIS PROBLEM. DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER DOUBLE CABIN SUPER-CHARGE. THE CONTACT MADE A LEFT TURN AT 2 MPH AND WAS STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING 35 MPH. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE FLIPPED APPROXIMATELY EIGHT FEET IN THE AIR AND LANDED UPSIDE DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND THE CONTACT WAS SEVERELY INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 63,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED THERE WAS A KNOCKING SOUND UNDER THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED OR WHEN REVERSING AT 3 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE REAR SHOCKS, BUT THE NOISE CONTINUED. THE SERVICE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE 5 TIMES AND COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED.
WATER GETS IN THE SEAL OF THE UPPER REAR TAIL LIGHT/CARGO LIGHT. THE WATER LEAKS THROUGH DAMAGING THE HEADLINER AND CARPET. ALSO BLEW MY FUSE AND NONE OF THE LIGHTS WORK IN IT, AS WELL AS BLOWING OUT THE FUSE EVERY TIME I REPLACE IT. THERE IS STILL NO UPDATED VERSION OR RECALL FOR IT ALL YOU CAN DO IS GET A NEW ONE AND HOPE IT LASTS A LITTLE LONGER. *TR
I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO BROWNS FAIRFAX NISSAN DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE OVERDRIVE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WAS COMING ON/OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I SPOKE WITH A FEW MECHANICS REGARDING THIS ISSUE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER NISSANS WARRANTY, I WAS ADVISED TO CHECK THE INTERNET. AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET, I LOCATED THE RECALLS AND FOUND MY CAR ON THEIR LISTINGS. I CALLED NISSANS RECALL DEPARTMENT, SPOKE WITH SOLOMON KIRK ABOUT THE ISSUE I WAS HAVING WITH MY TRUCK. MR. KIRK WENT OVER NISSANS WARRANTY COVERAGE (COVERAGE LISTED BELOW) WITH ME, HE TOLD ME TO GO TO ANY DEALERSHIP TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HE SAID THAT HE WOULD CALL THEM TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I WAS BRINGING MY TRUCK IN REGARDING THE ISSUE WE COVERED. I TOLD MR. KIRK THAT IN THE PAST I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO BROWS FAIRFAX NISSAN. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO BROWNS FAIRFAX NISSAN ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 AND PICKED UP A RENTAL CAR. I RECEIVED A CALL THAT EVENING FROM CHARTER WELLS, THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND WOULD HAVE TO KEEP IT OVER NIGHT. ON SEPTEMBER 26 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHARTER WELLS, HE SAID THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS REPLACED (RECALL ISSUE), I ASK HIM DID THAT TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE WITH THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT HE SAID NO BUT I WOULD NEED MY TRANSMISSION FLUSHED BECAUSE IT IS DIRTY. AFTER THINKING ABOUT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT BEING REPLACED AND THAT DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE, I THOUGHT TO GO BACK TO MY MECHANIC FOR HIS ADVICE. I DID NOT HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED. ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2006 I WENT TO MY MECHANIC AND INFORMED HIM OF THE WORK THAT WAS DONE ON MY TRUCK FROM BROWNS FAIRFAX NISSAN AND THE ISSUE WITH THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT. OIL CHANGED AND TIRES BALANCED/ROTATED ISSUE HE INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE NISSANS WARRANTY. HE ALSO CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO SEE IF IT WAS DIRTY AND IT WASN'T. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN AN AMBULANCE HIT THE CONTACT HEAD ON AT 30-40 MPH. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT AND OPERATED CORRECTLY HOWEVER, INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THERE WERE NOT ANY AIR BAG LIGHTS ILLUMINATED IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN INFORMED. UPDATED 7/5/2006 - *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING SIDE DOOR CLOSED WITHOUT WARNING, BREAKING THE FINGERS OF THE CONTACT. THE DOOR CONTINUED TO CLOSE ON OTHER OCCASIONS NO MATTER HOW FAR OPEN IT WAS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE RIGHT STAY BRACKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
2002 FRONTIER DOOR CLOSED ON CONSUMERS HAND. *TS THE DOOR SMASHED THE CONSUMER RIGHT INDEX FINGER BREAKING THE BONE. THE RF/LF DOOR STAY BRACKET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *NM
2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. ELECTRICAL COMPONENT; ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR. EXPERIENCING EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #05V319000. 1) NORMAL OPERATION LEADING TO FAILURE. 2) CONSEQUENCE; BATTERY AND BRAKE WARNING LAMPS COME ON AND BATTERY BEGINS TO DISCHARGE. ENGINE GOES INTO FAIL SAFE MODE, ENGINE WILL STOP AND COULD RESULT IN CRASH. 3) DEALER WILL NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITHOUT PAYMENT BECAUSE THE FRONTIER DOES NOT HAVE THIS PARTICULAR RECALL AND THE DEALER STATES THE VEHICLE HAS EXCEEDED THE 3YR WARRANTY LIMIT EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW 26 MONTHS AGO. *NM
I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN FAIRFIELD CALIFORNIA AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP TERMINAL, BUT THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART. THEY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME AND IT WAS NEVER REPAIRED. IT WAS SO LONG AGO, I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE DATE. I LIVE OUT OF STATE NOW, BUT STILL HAVE MY TRUCK AND WOULD LIKE IT FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO ME.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE ON 6-23-05. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT THOUGHT IT WAS THE WIPER MOTOR THAT SHORTED OUT. NISSAN SENT OUT A REPRESENTATIVE, AND HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE FIRE. NISSAN WAS NOT HONORING THE WARRANTY BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING LIKE A BIRD NEST CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT WAS AT A DEALERSHIP NOW. THE CONSUMER THOUGHT IT WAS AN OVERHEATED TERMINAL THAT CAUSED THE FIRE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS REIMBURSED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR A PRIOR REPAIR, WHICH WAS RELATED TO A RECALL. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. RECENTLY, THE FAILURE RECURRED BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS REPAIR WAS INSUFFICIENT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
BRAKES : UPON BRAKING, NOTICED SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL. DIAGNOSED/ AS WARPED ROTORS: REPAIRED VIA GRINDING ON 5/15/03 BY NISSAN MILEAGE 20,834 . ON NOVEMBER 10, 2004 AT APPROX 30,700 MILES ,AGAIN NOTICED SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING AT 50 MPH. NISSAN SERVICE SAID ROTORS HAD HEATED AND WARPED AGAIN! ROTORS WARPED AFTER LESS THEN 10,000 MILES!! MILES AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR. REPAIRED AGAIN AT 30,830 MILES. NORMAL DRIVING HAS RESULTED IN THE 17" WHEELS TO WARP ROTORS TWICE WITHIN A 10,000 MILE SPAN. *JB
MY NISSAN FRONTIER, 2002 MODEL, IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. WITHOUT ANY WARNING COMPLETELY DIED ON INTERSTATE. I TOWED IN AND PROBLEM WAS SOMETHING ELECTRICAL WITH THE DISTRIBUTOR. I UNDERSTAND THIS VEHICLE HAS NO WARRANTY AFTER 36000 MILES HOWEVER THIS ISSUE SEEMS VERY RARE TO ME AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.*AK

VEHICLE BECAME HARD TO CONTROL, REGARDING STEERING AND JUST TRYING TO KEEP THE TRUCK FROM DRIFTING. DISCOVERED THAT THE RETAINING NUT HAD WORKED LOOSE AND SWAY BAR WAS NOT SECURED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF CAR. WAS REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP.*AK
ABS LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD, CAUSING PER OWNERS MANUAL INOPERATIVE STATE OF ABS SYSTEM. LIGHT COMES ON WHEN STARTING, WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING AND IDLING.*AK
WHEN DRIVING 70 MPH VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK WHILE VEHICLE IS SET ON CRUISE CONTROL, THE ENTIRE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. CONSUMER COULDN'T RESTART THE VEHICLE. IGNITION SYSTEM FAILED FOUR TIMES, AND WAS BROUGHT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS. *LA
FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS "ALL" MY DOOR SEALS HAVE LOST THEIR BONDING! I'VE HAD TO USE TWO-SIDED TAPE, AND A VARIETY OF GLUES, OF WHICH LAST A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THEY TOO EVENTUALLY FAIL. DOES NISSAN HAVE ANY RECALLS PERTAINING TO THIS TYPE OF ISSUE? *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT AN UNDETERMINED SPEED THE VEHICLE STALLED, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC. PLEASE ADD ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
TACH, ODOMETER, SPEEDOMETER, FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES DID NOT ACTIVATE ON START. DRIVING ENGAGED SPEED LIMITER ONCE TRANSMISSION ENTERED 3RD GEAR (AUTOMATIC). AFTER DRIVING 3-4 MILES, GAUGES CAME TO LIFE. THIS HAPPENED ON A PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE BUT WAS RECTIFIED BY TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING VEHICLE. A WEB SEARCH RESULTED IN FINDING OTHER NISSAN OWNERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH DIFFERENT MODELS. TWO DEALERS SAID THEY COULDN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM UNLESS THEY COULD SEE IT HAPPENING. *LA
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR HEATER WAS ACTIVATED AND WOULD BLOW EXTREMELY HOT AIR WHEN DIRECTED TO THE FOOT VENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO SIMPLY CHANGE THE HEATER SETTINGS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE THE HEAT WOULD BURN HIS FEET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 2002 NISSAN FONTIER CREWCAB. THE 3RD TAILIGHT/STOPLIGHT THAT IS MOUNTED TO THE ROOF HAS A DESIGN FLAW. FIRST WATER FILLS THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY THEN IT LEAKS INTO THE CAB. THE CARPET IN THE TRUCK IS NOW RUINED, ALONG WITH THE HEADLINER. A HEAVY DOWNPOUR WILL FORCE CUPS OF WATER INTO THE CAB - NOT JUST A FEW DROPS. SEE ODI#10025784 - AS MINE IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS A NISSAN SERVICE BULLITIN OR A RECALL.
THE BRAKES ON MY NISSAN FRONTIER S/C ARE NOT ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE LOADED MUCH LESS THAN UNLOADED. SINCE IT WAS NEW IT HAS A SOFT PEDAL THAT REQUIRES VARIED PRESSURES, DESPITE SIMILAR CONDITIONS. TO BRING IT TO A STOP AND OR SLOW IT DOWN. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO NISSAN AND THE DEALER. THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THIS IS THE WAY "THEY ARE" AND THAT THEY HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING THAT THEY CAN DO BUT THIS IS ALL THEY CAN DO TO THE SYSTEM. NISSSAN HEADQUARTERS WANT ME TO, AND I AM, TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER TO SEE IF IT IS NORMAL. MY FEELING IS THAT IT IS "NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE" BUT NOT SAFE NOR ACCEPTABLE. THERE IS NO WAY THAT THEY WILL FIX A "NORMAL' VEHICLE, THOUGH IT DOES NOT MEET A SAFE STANDARD FOR STOPPING, COMPARED TO THE MANY CARS THAT I HAVE OWNED IN THE PAST. I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT WILL NOT STOP. I AM STATING THAT IT IS NOT CONSISTENT AND IT SEEMS LIKE IT WILL NOT STOP IN MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONDITIONS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS LITTLE FEEL AND/OR CONTROL AND THIS IS AN ACCIDENT HAZZARD. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH ANOTHER NISSAN DEALER NEXT TUESDAY TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY THING THAT CAN BE REPAIRED OR IF THIS IS "NORMAL". I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THERE IS AN ANSWER TO MY PROBLEM,THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE LARGER ROTORS AND CALIPERS AND A REDESIGN OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. INFACT, I WAS TOLD LAST TIME I WAS THERE, BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN REDESIGNED FOR THE NEW MODEL YEAR. VEHICLE SHUTS COMPLETELY DOWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ALL ELECTRIC FAILS AND VEHICLE WILL NOT START FOR ABOUT 20-25 MINUTES. FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED ON MAY 17, 2003. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER AND DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. ON MAY 29, 2003 VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AGAIN IN TRAFFIC. ALL ELECTRIC FAILED AGAIN. VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 20-25 MINUTES AND DRIVEN TO DEALER. DEALER HAD VEHICLE FOR FOUR DAYS AND REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND HARNESS. ON JUNE 11, 2003 VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN. VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 20-25 MINUTES. WILL CALL DEALER TO STATE THAT SHUT DOWN PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. *JB
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE TURN SIGNAL/ HAZARD LIGHTS AND INSTRUMENTAL PANEL LIGHTS WERE WORKING ABNORMALLY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS TO THE REAR SEALS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 02V299000 (SUSPENSION:REAR) IN 2003. ONE YEAR LATER, THE LEFT REAR SEAL BEGAN LEAKING ON THE AXLE. THEN, IN 2005 THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY FRACTURED FROM THE AXLE BECAUSE THE SEAL FAILED A SECOND TIME. IN TOTAL, THE CONTACT HAS HAD THE SEALS REPLACED SEVEN TIMES AND MOST RECENTLY, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE REAR HOUSING WAS DEFECTIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
MY 2002 NISSAN FREONTIER PICKUP HAS SOME SERIOUS BBRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ISSUES. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TO CLOSE TO THE GAS PEDAL. IT IS SO EASY TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAMETIME YOU PRESS THE BRAKE. SEVERAL PEOPLE HERE HAVE MADE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT HAS ALREADY CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS.
