TRUCK CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING NO MATTER WHAT SPEED YOUR AT. HAVE TO WAIT A FEW SECONDS TO GET IT TO START AGAIN.
VEHICLE WAS DRIVING THEN HURT A LOUD THUD. ENGINE RACED. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC. THEN A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THEY SAID COOLANT LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION. NEED NEW TRANNY AND RADIATOR.
LEAK IN RADIATOR INTO TRANSMISSION HAS CAUSED TRANSMISSION FAILURE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFTED ABRUPTLY AND THE VEHICLE JERKED AND VIBRATED. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ODOR OF BURNING TRANSMISSION FLUID. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS CORROSIVE AND DESTROYED THE COMPONENTS OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,500. ..UPDATED 06/14/17 *BF *AS
THE SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT CAME OFF 4/26/17, 12/7/17, AND 2/10/18 . WHEN IT WAS REINSTALLED ON 12/7/17 THE MECHANIC SAID THEY FOUND A REFERENCE THAT SAID NISSAN HAS NEW SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT KIT AVAILABLE AND IF CAME OFF AGAIN THEY RECOMMENDED I GET THE NEW KIT INSTALLED. ALL THREE TIMES THE BELT CAME OFF WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE IN MY DRIVEWAY. SEVERAL TIMES IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS SLIPPING WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS AFTER STOPPING FOR A STOP SIGN PRIOR TO THE 3D TIME IT CAME OFF.AFTER STOPPING
TRANSMISSION CROSS CONTAMINATION WITH COOLANT. 72,000 MILES ON ODOMETER. HAD TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING FULL SPEED, FORCING ME TO QUICKLY MOVE OVER 6 LANES WITH NO HIGH GEAR. NOW I HAVE A $4900 REPAIR BILL. I WAS IN THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP JUST 1 WEEK PRIOR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED AT NISSAN SINCE IT WAS NEW. I WAS NEVER TOLD OF THE RECALL OR THAT I SHOULD BYPASS THE RADIATOR OR BEWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
COOLANT CONTAMINATION IN THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING TRANSMISSION FAILURE
TRANSMISSION STARTED SHUDDERING IN OD - RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED FRONT TO BACK AND THEN STALLED. THE ENGINE AND OTHER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STARTED THE NEXT DAY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED A WEEK LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR LIQUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THE MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSIS AND REPLACED A FAULTY SENSOR. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AGAIN, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
STEER WHEEL BEARING IN UPPER TILT STEERING COLUMN YOKE BROKE WHILE BACKING UP VEHICLE. STEERING WHEEL SPINS FREELY WITH NO CONTROL TO WHEELS. VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN. EXTREME HAZARD IF DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN STEERING WHEEL COLUMN FAILS. DEFECT HAS BEEN NOTED IN OTHER NISSAN MODEL YEARS YET NO RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CHANGE GEARS WHEN PROMPTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. BUTLER NISSAN OF MACON, GEORGIA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,365.
COMPLAINT RE: TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. IS LOCKED IN 3RD GEAR IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. OVERDRIVE GEAR WAS GONE DUE TO COOLANT MIXING WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. HAD REPLACED RADIATOR & FLUSHED TRANSMISSION 3 MONTHS AGO HOPING TO BUY ME SOME MORE MILES BEFORE HAVING TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. DIDN'T WORK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. AFTER THE DRIVER PARKED THE VEHICLE, SMOKE EMITTED UNDER THE HOOD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS PLUG CONNECTED TO THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
VEHICLE ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE AT A FULL STOP AND WHILE DRIVING. ONCE WHILE MAKING A TURN AND ONCE WHILE IN MOTION. MANY FRONTIER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME. TOOK IT TO ONE OF THE BEST AUTO TECHS IN FLORIDA. DIAGOSTIC SHOWED "NO CODES"
TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION FLUID.I REPLACED THE RADIATOR A YEAR PRIOR TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING AT THE STRONG RECOMMENDATION OF THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND STILL THE PROBLEM OCCURRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT AND THE SMOKE DISSIPATED. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. A REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK WITH OUT NOTICE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE, LEAVING ME WITH OUT CONTROLL OF THE PICKUP, WHILE I WAS IN MOTION , THE ENGINE RACED BUT LOST CONTROLL OF THE DRIVE, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS. I FOUND OUT AFTER THE FACT, THAT NISSAN HAD BEEN IN A CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT ONLY REMEDY THE PROBLEM WHEN YOU BREAK DOWN OUT OF CONTROLL. I WAS TOLD 3 MONTHS BEFORE I BOUGHT IT , NISSAN SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED SOMEONE, AND THE DEALER PUSHED IT OFF TILL THE 6 MON. WARRANTY RAN OUT FROM HALDEMAN FORD OF ALLENTOWN. THE NISSAN DEALER AT ROTHROCK NISSAN IN ALLENTOWN SAID IT WAS A NISSAN PROBLEM, BUT NISSAN CORP REFUSED TO HELP BECAUSE THE PICKUP BROKE DOWN A FEW MONTHS TOO LATE AFTER A 10 YEAR PERIOD OF FIXING THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS..THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES AT THE RADIATOR LEEK FLUID BACK INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND THEN WIDTH NO WARNING FAILS TO ENGAGE WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING.

THE FRONT CRASH ZONE SENSOR (CZS) FAILED DUE TO RUST AND MUST BE REPLACED. THE IS DESCRIBED EXACTLY IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V69000. NISSAN CLAIMS THAT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. WHY NOT?
RADIATOR LEAKING FLUID INTO TRANSMISSION . NOTICES SLIGHT SHUTTER AT HIGH SPEED, APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, IN THE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY DEALER AT 89,000 MILES WITHOUT ANY ISSUE AT THAT TIME . DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE RADIATOR DUE TO NO PROBLEM AT THAT TIME. VEHICLE IS AT 112000 AND NOW RADIATOR FAILS. NISSAN WOULD NOT COVER DUE TO OUT OF EXTENDED WARRANTY. FAULTY DESIGNED SYSTEM AND POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IN MY OPINION. VEHICLE AT MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FLUSH OUT TO SEE IF IT WILL FIX PROBLEM. MAJOR EXPENSE FOR POOR DESIGN PASSED ONTO CUSTOMER. I WILL NOT SPEND ANY MORE MONEY WITH NISSAN.
CHUGGING, SLIPPING, HARD SHIFTING TRANSMISSION WHEN DRIVING MOST ANY SPEED. OVER THE LAST 1 1/2 YEARS
TRANSMISSION OIL LEAKING INTO COOLANT SYSTEM AND COOLANT LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION.
ELECTRICAL COMPONENT MOUNTED OVERHEAD IN THE CAB HIDDEN BY THE HEADLINER IS RUNNING SO HOT IT HAS BLISTERED EXTERIOR PAINT ABOVE IT. OVER TIME THE AFFECTED AREA IS NOW ABOUT ONE SQUARE FOOT AND IS IMMEDIATELY OBVIOUS BECAUSE OF PAINT LOSS ON TOP OF CAB JUST BEHIND TOP OF WINDSHIELD. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY REPRESENT A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD.
DESIGN DEFECT IN RADIATOR OF 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER ALLOWED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ENGINE COOLANT TO MIX. RESULTED IN CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION. DEALER STATED SINCE VEHICLE HAS MORE THAN 100,000 MILES, THE $4 - 5,000 EXPENSE IS MINE. LAST NISSAN WE'LL EVER BUY AFTER 40 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP.
TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS HAVE CONSISTENTLY REPORTED ERRONEOUSLY LOW PRESSURES. DISTRUST OF THESE SENSORS IS POTENTIALLY LETHAL IN THAT THEY ARE IGNORED. DEALER SAYS THIS DESIGN DEFECT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE STARTED NORMALLY AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE FUSE BOX. THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I LOSE POWER ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. THE TRANSMISSION LOSES POWER WHEN TRYING TO UPSHIFT. INSPECTION COMPLETED VIA AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALERSHIP. EFFORTS TO RECTIFY WITH NISSAN HAVE FAILED. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND IS MARKED AS AN OPEN NHTSA INVESTIGATION.
RADIATOR LEAKED FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION... BROKE DOWN ON HIGHWAY AT 103,000 MILES.... WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL
MY 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER WILL STALL OUT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS HAPPENED GOING SLOW AND FAST. THE TRUCK WILL BE RUNNING FINE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST BE IN SEVERAL CRASHES. I CAN PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND IT WILL CRANK BACK UP SOMETIMES TAKING SEVERAL TRY'S. I HAVE REPLACED THE ECM RELAY AND DID NOT HELP. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM THAT CAN GET PEOPLE KILLED. THE TRUCK HAS CUT OFF AT RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. I HAVE BEEN GOING 70MPH ON THE INTER STATE AND THE TRUCK CUTS OFF. THE TRUCK HAS LOST POWER IN A TURN CAUSING IT TO BE REALLY HARD TO TURN. THE WORST IS PULLING OUT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND MY TRUCK JUST CUTS OFF.
TAKATA RECALL. A POOR DESIGN LED TO THE ENGINE COOLANT SLOWLY LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND RUINING IT CAUSING IT TO NEED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE WHOLE THING.
RADIATOR OF 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER ALLOWED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ENGINE COOLANT TO MIX. 1ST I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW RADIATOR AND NOW I AM HAVING TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS TYPE OF MULIPLE FAILURES WHICH CAUSE MULTIBLE PROBLEMS. PAID $$$$ FOR RADIATOR REPAIR NOW $4300.00 FOR TRANSMISSON AT MY EXPENSE. I WOULD NOT BE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING ANOTHER NISSAN.
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK MADE A QUICK JERK AND THEM COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO CAUSING A HIGHWAY PILE UP!! I HAD NO POWER, NO STEERING NO NOTHING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET ACROSS 3 LANES SAFELY. CARS WERE SLAMMING ON BRAKES AND LUCKILY I DIDNT KILL MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE. ONCE I GOT THE THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK GOING AND SAFELY GET TO AN EXIT. I CREEPED HOME ON A WING A PRAYER AND NOW THE TRUCK IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I DONT DARE TO USE IT AND I NEED IT. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT, ITHAS GIVEN ME ANXIETY, IT WAS HORRIFIC. MY TRUCK HAS 94220 MILES ON IT.
TIMING CHAIN ON 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE ENGINE MAKES A LOUD WHINING NOISE DUE TO THE CHAIN CONTACT. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR MOTION IT MAKE THE NOISE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IN MOTION IT CHANGES GEARS AT A HIGHER RPM. I HAVE SENSORS THAT WERE OPERABLE BECAUSE OF THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE.

TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SHUDDER AT AROUND 45 MILES AN HOUR. DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND PARKED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. WENT OUT TO START VEHICLE NEXT DAY AND IT WOULD NOT CRANK. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND FOUND OUT THAT THE RADIATOR HAD AN INTERNAL RUPTURE WHICH CAUSED ANTIFREEZE TO CONTAMINATE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CAUSING THE TCM MODULE TO FAIL ALONG WITH DAMAGE TO INTERNAL PARTS. THE REPAIR IS ESTIMATED AT ABOUT $5300.00. SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED, I LEARNED THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM FOR YEARS BUT NO NOTIFICATION WAS SENT TO ME WARNING ME OF THE PROBLEM. DESPITE NISSANS KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM, THE COMPANY HAS RECENTLY REFUSED TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR.
NISSAN TRANSMISSION DESTROYED BY ENGINE COOLANT LEAK. HAD NO PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION UNTIL ONE DAY, SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN HIGHER GEAR. THOUGHT IT WAS ELECTRICAL. TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN REVERSE, BUT FORWARD WAS BACK TO NORMAL. TOOK TO AAMCO TRANSMISSION REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSANS IN THAT THE DESIGN FLAW ALLOWS ENGINE COOLANT TO MIX WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND DESTROYS THE TRANSMISSION. COST TO REPLACE IS ESTIMATED AT $4100, CAN NOT OBTAIN A USED TRANSMISSION BECAUSE ALL THE SAME TRANSMISSIONS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE. VEHICLE HAS 155K MILES, AND DID NOT HAVE ANY WARNING SIGNS OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DESIGN FLAW. THIS TRUCK WHICH WAS RUNNING FINE LAST WEEK, WILL NOW BE SOLD FOR SCRAP AT A JUNKYARD AS I CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPAIR FOR $4100. AAMCO TRANSMISSION SAID JUNK YARDS ARE FULL OF SAME NISSANS DUE TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 5 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FLOODED WITH COOLANT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
IN 2013 I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF CLASS ACTION ABOUT A NISSAN VEHICLES RELATED TO POSSIBLE RADIATOR FLUID LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION DUE A DEFECT THAT PERMITS CROSS-CONTAMINATION OF ENGINE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT DID NOT INCLUDE VEHICLES BEFORE IT HAPPENS. IN 2013, I WENT TO A AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER TO CHECK IF MY RADIATOR CAN BE AFFECTED BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT IN THAT MOMENT THE RADIATOR WAS WORKING WELL WITHOUT GIVEN ME THE OPTION OF REPLACING IT TO PREVENT DAMAGES. AT THE TIME I WAS UNDER THE WARRANTY LIMITS, LESS THAN 10 YEARS AND LESS THAN 100,000 MILES. NOW IN FEBRUARY 13, 2016 MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS TO MOVE , HAD A HARSH SHIFT , IT SLOWED DOWN AND DID NOT DRIVE AT TIMES. I CLEARLY SAW A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I CALLED UNITED NISSAN SERVICE FOR A DIAGNOSE . THEY CHECK MY VEHICLE AND TOLD ME THAT MY RADIATOR LEAKED FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION DUE THE RADIATOR DEFECT. I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS CLASS ACTION DID NOT INCLUDE VEHICLES THAT WILL FACE THIS DAMAGE IN A FUTURE . IT DID NOT INCLUDE PREVENTION OF DAMAGES. NISSAN DID NOT RELEASED A RECALL FOR THE FAULTY RADIATOR. I KNOW I AM NOW OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY LIMITS, BUT AT THE TIME WHEN I VISITED NISSAN SERVICE TO PREVENT THIS NO ONE PROVIDED MY HELP OR INFORMATION THAT WOULD HELP IN PREVENT SUCH DAMAGE. THE PRICE FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION IS 6,000 DLLS. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIR ALL GOES UP 9,000 DLLS. ALSO I RECEIVED A RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE BY THE SERVICE AGENTS OF NISSAN SERVICE . NOW I HAVE TO COVER THESE COSTS BY MYSELF. MY SON WAS DRIVEN THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPEN. THE GOOD THING IS THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE HE WAS DRIVEN ON THE FREEWAY MAKING IT SO DANGEROUS. WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH PEOPLE LIKE US? THE LEGAL CASE WAS CLOSED IN 2012 BUT NISSAN STILL HAVING VEHICLES SUFFERING THIS THIS DAMAGE . THIS IS A NEGLIGENCE THAT PASS THE FINANCIAL BURDEN TO CONSUMERS.
MY TRUCKS FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER, I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A RECALL. SO I CALLED 2 DEALERS THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VIN/TRUCK IS NOT COVERED. BUT WHAT I'VE SEEN IS THAT IT IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME, PARKED, ON THE STREETS OR FREEWAY WHICH I DRIVE DAILY FOR WORK. NO INJURY, CRASH OR FATALITY YET. I LOVE MY TRUCK, WORK IN A LEVEL 1 TRAUMA CENTER, I SEE MANY CAR ACCIDENT VICTIM'S WHEN IT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED, LIKE WITH ME NOW. PLEASE HELP ME I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL!! I PRAY NISSAN WILL DO WHAT IS RIGHT!!
LAST NOVEMBER 6TH I HIT A DEER, FRONT IMPACT. TOOK TRUCK TO LOCAL GARAGE TO HAVE IT SERVICED. THE ONLY DAMAGE THEY SAID OCCURRED WAS BODY DAMAGE. 3WKS LATER GOT MY TRUCK BACK WITH BODY DAMAGE REPAIRED. ABOUT 3WKS AFTER THAT I STARTED TO NOTICE A SLIGHT VIBRATION IN MY TRUCK WHEN I GOT TO A CERTAIN SPEED. I REALLY DIDN'T THINK NOTHING OF IT AND THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD A TIRE OUT OF BALANCE. WELL THE VIBRATION STARTED GETTING WORSE AND I STARTED TO NOTICE A STRONG VIBRATION AND DECREASE IN POWER WHEN IT SHIFTED. SO I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE GARAGE TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIGURE ANYTHING OUT. I THOUGHT MAYBE THE DEER CAUSED MORE DAMAGE THAN EXPECTED BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THE DIDN'T CHARGE ME ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. SO I DROVE IT FOR ANOTHER 2 WEEKS AND IT GOT WORSE. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WITHIN 30MINS THEY DETERMINED A TRANSMISSION COOLER RUPTURE AND THAT IT BASICALLY HAS RUINED MY TRANSMISSION AND WOULD NEED TO REPLACE IT, A SERVICE CHARGE OF $6,000!!! THEY TOLD ME I WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY ON IT. I'VE BEEN READING ON THIS ISSUE AND KNOW NISSAN HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 10YRS OR 100,000 MILES. I WENT TO THE DEALER ON THE 19TH OF JANUARY. 19 DAYS OUT OR WARRANTY!!! WHEN I HAD ORIGINALLY HAD AN ISSUE IN LATE DECEMBER AND NOTHING WAS FOUND!!! THE TRUCK IS BARELY 10YRS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 90,000 MILES ON IT.
TRANSMISSION STARTS SLIPPING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. RPM INCREASES WITHOUT INCREASE IN SPEED. INTERMITTENT BUT GETTING WORSE. THIS IS MY SON'S TRUCK AND I AM WORRIED ABOUT HIS SAFETY WHEN MERGING INTO THE INTERSTATE. HE ALMOST GOT HIT BY A SEMI LAST WEEK WHEN MERGING INTO I-20 AS THE SLIPPING WAS HAPPENING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS AND THE GEARS WERE STUCK OCCASIONALLY. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,668.

2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO COOLANT LEAKS FROM RADIATOR INTO TRANSMISSION. *SMD
RADIATOR FLUID MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND CAUSED COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE
HAD TO HAVE TIMING CHAINS AND RELATED PARTS REPLACED. COST $1700 OUT OF POCKET, NO HELP FROM NISSAN.
SOON AFTER PASSING THE 103,000 MILE MARK IN OCTOBER, 2015, MY 2005 FRONTIER 'S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (WITH THE V-6 ENGINE) STARTED SHUTTERING WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR WHILE THE CAR WAS GOING 62 TO 65 MPH. IT WAS QUITE STARTLING AND WORRISOME. THE PROBLEM SLOWLY GOT WORSE WITH SHUTTERING OCCURRING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND UNDER DIFFERENT LOADINGS. WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO, I TOOK IT INTO A NATIONAL TRANSMISSION REPAIR STORE (AMACO) WHO WANTED TO CHARGE ME $180 FOR 2 HOURS OF DIAGNOSIS TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I ENDED UP PAYING THEM FOR ONLY 1 HOUR OF THEIR TIME. THEY SAID I HAD WATER IN MY TRANSMISSION AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT TO THE TUNE OF AROUND $5,000! THEY SAID I'D NEED TO REPLACE AN INTERNAL COMPUTER...ALONG WITH THE COST TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. WHAT MAKES ME MAD IS THAT I TOOK THE CAR TO AMACO AT AROUND THE 90,000 MILE MARK (IN 2014) TO GET SOME MAJOR TRANSMISSION WORK DONE THAT TURNED OUT TO BE A MALFUNCTIONING ELECTRONIC/COMPUTER PART IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS COST ME AROUND $1,600 TO FIX. AT THAT POINT, THERE WAS NO WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, THEY SHOULD HAVE INFORMED ME I SHOULD REPLACE THE RADIATOR AT THAT POINT BECAUSE THE RADIATORS WERE FAILING AND WOULD REQUIRE THE TRANSMISSION BE REBUILT. THE REPAIR SHOP COULD HAVE INFORMED ME OF THE PROBLEM NISSAN WAS HAVING WITH THE RADIATOR...BUT CHOSE NOT TO TELL ME. I COULD HAVE FIXED THE POTENTIAL RADIATOR PROBLEM FOR AROUND $300, BEFORE IT CREATED THE EVENTUAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHICH COST $5,000. NISSAN ALSO KNEW, BUT CHOSE NOT TO ADVISE ME TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE RADIATOR BEFORE IT FAILED. THE DEALER'S FAILURE TO NOTIFY ME ABOUT THE RADIATOR DESIGN FLAW, WHICH THEY KNEW ABOUT IT IN 2007, KEPT ME FROM REPLACING IT. I WOULD HAVE GLADLY DONE THIS TO AVOID SPENDING $5,000 WHEN THE RADIATOR FAILED. THE ESTIMATED "DATE THIS HAPPENED" IS 9/14/2015.
