THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. AS WITH OTHERS THAT HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE, UPON FILLING THE TANK THE GAUGE WILL READ EMPTY AND THEN DURING THE DRIVE IT ACTS ERRATICALLY AND SOMETIMES IT WILL READ CORRECTLY ONE MINUTE AND THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW IT'S ON EMPTY AGAIN. ITS VERY FRUSTRATING TO KNOW THIS WAS A RECALL IN OTHER YEARS YET NISSAN WON'T MAN UP AND FIX THESE ISSUES. I WON'T BUY ANOTHER NISSAN BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY ARE HANDLING THIS OR SHOULD I SAY NOT HANDLING THIS. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU RUN OUT OF GAS WHEN YOUR GAUGE IS OBVIOUSLY FAULTY AND TELLING YOU THERE'S FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE MANUFACTURED BY COOPER TIRE & RUBBER CO. AND THE TIRE LINE WAS LEXINGTON ES-335 (KENDA H RATED), SIZE 215/60R15. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. TWO WEEKS LATER THE REAR DRIVER SIDE, TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. BOTH OF THE TIRES WERE TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER WHICH WAS WHERE THEY WERE PURCHASED. THE INDEPENDENT DEALER REPLACED BOTH OF THE TIRES WITH THE SAME BRAND AND STATED THAT HE COULD NOT REPLACE THE TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND OR TIRE LINE. THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD AN INDEPENDENT DEALER THAT THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED BY THE CONTACT. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 35,000.
I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER JUST TURNED 43,000 MILES AND LIKE SO MANY OTHERS MY FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT WENT OUT,WAS TOLD MINE WASN'T ON RECALL LIST YET. *TR
YESTERDAY MORNING THE FUEL GAUGE IN MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER 4 X 4 (APPROXIMATELY 46,000 MILES) APPEARED TO WORK NORMALLY WHEN IT SHOWED PERHAPS 30 MILES LEFT TO DRIVE BEFORE EMPTY. IT TOOK ALMOST 20 GALLONS TO FILL IT UP. AFTER FILLING UP FULLY, THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED ABOUT A QUARTER OF A TANK AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. TODAY THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWS ABOUT 5/8THS OF A TANK LEFT, WITH MY HAVING DRIVEN ABOUT 10 MILES SINCE FILLING UP. IT SEEMS THE 2007 NISSAN FRONTIERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2006 AND 2008 MODELS THAT ARE BEING RECALLED. UNLESS NISSAN CHANGED PARTS OR DESIGN IN 2007, IT MAKES NO SENSE WHY THE FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM OF 2006 SHOULD HAVE SKIPPED 2007 AND REAPPEARED IN 2008! (WITH REGARD TO MY TRUCK, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILURE. THE PROBLEM LOOKS TO BE PERSISTENT, AND THE SAFETY ISSUE OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS IN TRAFFIC IS THE SAME AS FOR THE TO-BE-RECALLED 2006 AND 2008 MODELS). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR FAILED CAUSING INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE THAT THERE WAS NO FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED REPLACING THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. ANY REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE WOULD BE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
2007 NISSAN FRONTIER FUEL SENSOR GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. VEHICLE GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND LOW FUEL LIGHT, ALL THIS WITH PLENTY OF GAS IN TANK.SOMETIMES FUEL GAUGE WILL SHOW 3/4 FULL AND AFTER GAUGE GETS AROUND 1/2 FULL, THE GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY. NEVER SURE HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN TANK. WOULD NOT WANT TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND CAUSE A CRASH. NISSAN HAS RECALLS FOR THE 2006 AND 2008 FRONTIER FOR THE SAME ISSUE. NISSAN OFFERED ME $250.00 TOWARDS THE REPAIRS AT THEIR DEALERSHIP. I AM NOT SURE WHY THE 2007 MODEL'S ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS. NISSAN IS OBVIOUSLY AWARE OF OTHER YEAR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND DO NOT WANT TO FIX THEIR DEFECT AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER. *TR
"I HAD 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS AND WENT TO FILL UP. AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, I TURNED ON THE CAR, AT WHICH POINT THE NEEDLE DID NOT REGISTER THE FULL TANK. AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FUEL SENDING UNIT/SENSOR AND THAT IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED AFTER 30K MILES. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND DOING RESEARCH, I WENT ONLINE TO X.NISSANHELP.COM AFTER PERFORMING A SEARCH, I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. A SIMILAR PROBLEM WAS FOUND ON THE 2000-2004 XTERRA MODELS AND A RECALL WAS PERFORMED WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP AFTER NOT GETTING ANY FUEL, POSING A GREAT DANGER. IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IN THE UNIT IS FAULTY AND WILL CORRODE OVER TIME. THERE IS A GENERAL CONSENSUS THAT EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 YRS AND WITH AROUND 39K-49K. IF THIS PROBLEM EXISTED IN PREVIOUS MODELS, AND IT WAS RECALLED, THE 2005-2007 XTERRAS, FRONTIERS, AND PATHFINDERS SHOULD GET THIS FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER!! WHY WAIT FOR ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATHS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM LIES IN AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. COST OF REPAIR RANGES FROM $300-600." *TR
I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER XE. I HAD ABOUT 1/4 TANK OF GAS WHEN I DECIDED TO FILL IT UP. STARTED MY TRUCK AND MY GAS GAUGE READ 0 AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER DRIVING A WHILE, MY GAS GAUGE STARTED TO READ A LITTLE LEVEL. AS I DROVE THE LEVEL WOULD COME UP SLOWLY UNTIL IT FINALLY READ A FULL TANK. AFTER THIS HAPPENED TO ME, I HEARD ABOUT A RECALL NISSAN WAS ISSUING ON VEHICLES WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS, ALL DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT CALLED NISSAN TO SEE IF MY TRUCK QUALIFIED FOR THE RECALL FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT AND IT DIDN'T. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME TO TAKE THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RUN TO CHECK AND SEE IF INDEED THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT NEED REPAIR. THE TEST THE DEALERSHIP RAN DID INDEED CONFIRM THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT WAS FAULTY. NISSAN TOLD ME THEY WOULD LOG MY COMPLAINT BUT WOULD NOT PAY TO FIX IT BECAUSE MY TRUCK WASN'T COVER UNDER THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH MY TRUCK HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHER RECALLED VEHICLES. *TR
I OWN A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER XE PICK UP. AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS ON 2/28/2010 I NOTICED THAT MY FUEL GAUGE DID NOT MOVE TO THE FULL MARK. THE FUEL GAUGE EVENTUALLY (AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING) BEGAN TO MOVE TO ABOUT THE 3/4 FULL MARK. MY WIFE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER ON 3/1/2010 FOR A STRANGE ENGINE NOISE AND TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. THE SERVICE MANAGER FROM THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT. I AUTHORIZED THE DEALER TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR,(3/3/2010) THE COST WAS $474.38. THE NEXT DAY A FRIEND CALLED TO TELL ME THAT THEY HEARD OF A NHTSA RECALL ON CERTAIN NISSAN MODELS REGARDING THE FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONING. I CONSULTED YOUR WEBSITE AND IN READING THE SUMMARY OF THE RECALL DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS VERY SIMILAR IF NOT EXACT TO THE SYMPTOMS MY VEHICLE HAD DEMONSTRATED. I CALLED NISSAN AND FURNISHED MY VIN FULLY EXPECTING MY VEHICLE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. UNFORTUNATELY NISSAN INSISTED MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL. I APPEALED WITHIN THEIR COMPANY ASKING THEM TO CONSIDER COVERING THE COST OF THE REPAIR SINCE THE DEFECT SO CLOSELY MIRRORED THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH MY VIN WAS TECHNICALLY EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THEY REFUSED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE TOWARDS MY REPAIR COSTS. I REALIZE THAT I AM ASKING A LARGE COMPANY TO SHOW INTEGRITY SINCE THEY ARE SECURE THAT MY VIN IS EXCLUDED, BUT I THOUGHT THEY WOULD HONOR MY REQUEST GIVEN THE NATURE OF MY REPAIR AND THE RECALL. IS THERE ANYTHING NHTSA CAN DO TO ASSIST ME IN THIS? IT SEEMS A SHAME THAT EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE DEMONSTRATED NEARLY EXACT SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL, THEY CAN DENY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE FOR WHATEVER REASON MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AT THIS TIME. *TR
I OWN A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER XE AND MY FUEL SENDING UNIT IS GOING BAD RESULTING IN ME RUNNING OUT OF FUEL ON US I35 WITH A NEAR REAR ENDING. THERE ARE MANY RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT MINE DOES NOT APPLY FOR SOME REASON.

I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. RECENTLY, WHEN I WOULD FILL UP THE GAS TANK, THE GAS GAUGE WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. AFTER TRAVELING FOR ABOUT 30-45 MINUTES, THE GAS GAUGE WOULD MOVE UP TO FULL, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. I CAN DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, AND THE GAS GAUGE WORKS CORRECTLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OUT. ALL IS NORMAL UNTIL I FILL UP THE GAS TANK AGAIN, AND SAME PROBLEM. I WENT TODAY TO GET MY NC VEHICLE INSPECTION, AND IT FAILED DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND WHEN THEY PUT THE OBDII TESTER ON, IT GAVE THEM A P0463 CODE. AFTER READING ALL THE COMMENTS ON THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN'S. IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY NISSAN, AS THEY HAVE DONE FOR OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED EMPTY WHILE THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL AND DISPLAYED FULL WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STOP RUNNING DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RELATED RECALL FOR THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FOR THE 2006 AND 2008 MODELS BUT NOT THE 2007. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE. WENT DIRECTLY TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED PART NUMBER 25060- FUEL LEVEL SENSOR I DID A SEARCH AND FOUND OUT I'M NOT ALONE. WENT TO THE GAS STATION TONIGHT WITH A LITTLE LESS THEN 3/4 TANK AND FILLED IT UP - HAD TO STOP AT THE STORE ANYWAY SO I GASSED UP. ANYWAY, DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, I LOOKED DOWN AND MY FUEL GAUGE IS ON EMPTY AND THE LIGHT ON. INTERESTING, I THOUGHT. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE COMES ON LATER. HE, I WAS THINKING SOME KIND OF GAS POCKET OR SOMETHING SO I GOT HOME AND UN DID THE GAS CAP, AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THE CHECK ENGINE CLEARED, BUT THE FUEL EMPTY IS STILL THERE. I HAVE A 2005 FRONTIER. BOUGHT MY TRUCK NEW IN 1/05 AND NOW HAS 47K MILES. IT'S BEEN A GREAT TRUCK BUT I HOPE THESE THINGS DON'T KEEP CREEPING UP. LEARNED A FEW THINGS ON THIS ISSUE. WE WERE OUT OF WARRANTY AS WELL AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR 2005 XTERRA W/44,000 MILES TO GET IT FIXED......KIND OF A REAR END BURNER. ANYWAY USE THE P/N 25060-ZS00A ON THE SERVICE BULLETIN # NTB07-69A. THIS P/N IS FOR THE SENDER UNIT "ONLY" @ $97.00 ONLY VS. THE SENDER UNIT & PUMP ASSEMBLY @ $290.00. A LOT OF DEALERS DON'T HAVE THIS PART NUMBER. *TR

THE GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY FOR ABOUT 50 MILES AND THEN READ FULL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED BUT THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT MOST LIKELY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED BUT HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,289.

I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER V6 4X4 WITH 50,000 MILES. LIKE SO MANY OTHERS I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE READING INCORRECTLY AFTER FILLING UP. NOW THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS ON. HAD NO IDEA SO MANY OTHERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
PURCHASED NEW 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER-V-6, LONG WHEEL-BASE TRUCK. EXPIERIENCED BRAKE PROBLEM AT 20K MILES, REPLACED BY DEALER, HAD LOW SPEED WHINE AND BRAKE PEDAL DROP TO FLOOR AND 35 TO 40 MPH JUDDER AND VIBRATION. WENT BACK TO DEALER, THEY CHECKED AND NOTICED THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS COMMING APART, THEY REPLACED WITH NEW ONE, IDICATED IT WAS DEFECTIVE FROM VENDOR. I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK BACK INTO DEALER FOUR TIMES SINCE WITH THE SAME RE-OCCURING PROBLEMS. THEY CAN'T FIND THE SOURCE OR THE PROBLEM. ZONE MGR. FOR MIDWEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND INDICATED THAT THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE ANYTHING ELSE. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO THE BBB IF I WANTED A SOLUTION UNDER CURRENT LEMON LAWS. HE ALSO INDICATED IT WILL PROBABLY FALL APART DOWN THE ROAD-COMPLETE AND UTTER DIS-REGARD FOR MY SAFETY. THEY ARE IN COMPLETE DENIAL THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IS IT JUST NOW THAT TOYOTA HAD A RECALL FOR BROKEN/CRACKED YOKES ON TACOMA'S AND NISSAN IS EXEMPT? DON'T THEY ALL BUY PARTS FROM DANA CORP.? NISSAN HAS EXPERIENCED A LARGE SALES SURGE AND ARE EXPANDING JUST LIKE GM HAD IN THE 70'S. THEY DON'T HAVE TIME/TALENT TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR PROBLEMS JUST MORE NEW VEHICLES, MORE ENGINEERING PROBLEMS, PUSH IT OUT THE DOOR AND LET THE DEALERS TAKE CARE OF PROBLEMS. THIS SOMEHOW HAS A FAMILIAR RING TO IT LIKE TOYOTA'S PROBLEM WITH ACCELERATION! KEEP RELIEING ON ELECTRONIC CONTROLS TO RUN THE VEHICLES AND TAKE AWAY CONTROL FROMTHE DRIVER. AFTER RESEARCH WITH SEVERAL NISSAN DEALERS, AN APPROXIMATE REPAIR COST OF $600 WAS GIVEN, INCLUDING A $100 DIAGNOSTIC FEE FOR READING THE CODES. I HAVE BEEN RUNNING VEHICLE WITHOUT A PROPERLY OPERATING FUEL GAUGE FOR APPROXIMATELY 5,000 MILES SINCE, DUE TO HIGH COST OF REPAIR NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER XE, AUTOMATIC. I NOTICED MY TIRES WERE STARTING TO WEAR ON THE INSIDE. AT 21,000 MILES I DID NOT WANT TO BE REPLACING MY TIRES TOO SOON. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT AS A TOASTED FSU, BUT BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, I HAD TO SHELL OUT $407.00 BUCKS TO GET IT REPLACED. IT APPEARS FROM MY RESEARCH THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS BAD AND THAT NUMEROUS OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME EXPENSIVE ISSUE. AFTER VISITING THE FOLLOWING FORUM: HTTP://X.NISSANHELP.COM/FORUMS/XTERRA/4151-FUEL-GAUGE-PROBLEM-SERVICE-ENGINE-SOON-LIGHT.HTML, I NOTICED MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH 2005-2007 NISSAN FRONTIER, XTERRA AND PATHFINDERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND THE DEALERS ARE CHARGING 400-700 DOLLARS TO FIX. MANY OF THESE PEOPLE ARE OUT OF THEIR WARRANTY PERIOD AND HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. MY WARRANTY REQUIRES ME TO PAY A 100 DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE. SOUNDS LIKE THIS FUEL SENDING UNIT DESERVES A RECALL. *TR
FUEL SENSOR OR SENDING UNIT IS BAD ON A 07' FRONTIER. FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY AT 1/4 TANK, AND ALSO DOES THE SAME AFTER FILL UP. TAKES A WHILE TO COME BACK UP TO FULL READING. NISSAN WANTS ME TO PAY 600.00 FOR A REPAIR WHEN THIS IS APPARENTLY A ISSUE ON ALL OF THEIR VEHICLES. THEY NEED TO ISSUER A RECALL. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AT ~55000 MILES. WHEN I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK THE LEVEL DID NOT REGISTER CORRECTLY AND THE SES LIGHT CAME ON. WILL GO OFF BETWEEN 3/4 AND 1/4 TANK, BUT COMES BACK ON EACH FILL UP. FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE NISSAN FRONTIER. MINE IS A 2007 MODEL. *TR
