ABS SYSTEM FAILURE, SENSORS INEXPLICABLY WENT BAD DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM TRIPS IT CUTS POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR WHILE IN TRAFFIC MAKING IT A HAZARD. ONCE THE FAILURE HAPPENED IT HAPPENS CONTINUOUSLY. NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THIS ISSUE, AND I WAS TOLD BY A TECHNICIAN AT A DEALERSHIP THAT THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 AND 2006 MAXIMA MODELS. *TR
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA AND THE TRANSMISSION JERKS BETWEEN GEARS, AND SLIPS IT HAS 80K MILES ON IT. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. AND THAT I SEE THE COMPLAINTS IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. PLEASE HELP! *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT RECENTLY STARTED TO ROCKING TOWARD THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WHICH ALERTED ME TO HAVING A PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I GET INTO THE CAR THE SEAT IS LEANING TO THE LEFT DOOR. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
BLOW OUT OF SIDEWALL OF TIRE (NISSAN MAXIMA 2006) EAGLE RSA P245 R45 18 THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME WAS FALL OF 2008 THE TIRES ONLY HAD APPROX. 28,000 MILES SO I ONLY REPLACED TWO OF THEM. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MORNING. ON ONE OF THE TWO I DID NOT REPLACE APPROX. 42,000 MILES. *TR
FRONT RIGHT STRUT REPLACED TWICE IN 6 MONTHS. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA AS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. RECENTLY, IT STARTED HAVING SOME PROBLEMS (AT APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES). WHEN I CHANGE GEARS FROM PARK TO REVERSE, FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, OR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR THERE IS A HARD JERKING. SOMETIMES IT WILL TAKE A FEW SECONDS TO CHANGE GEARS AND MY RPM'S GO UP. IT HAS DIED ON ME AT A STOP LIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A DIAGNOSIS, AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH. I HAD THE FLUSH DONE, AND THE PROBLEM WAS STILL PRESENT. THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME WORSE. I HAVE READ ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON NUMEROUS WEBSITES. I HAVE SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, AND HAVE COME UP WITH THE SAME CONCLUSION...I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM!!!! I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA SE THAT I BOUGHT NEW IN JAN 2007. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I REPLACED THE OEM TIRES BECAUSE I WAS OLD THEY WERE WORN OUT AND WERE THE CAUSE OF STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION ABOVE 60MPH. I REPLACED THE TIRES AND FRONT BRAKES/ROTORS AT MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THE VIBRATION WAS REDUCED BUT STILL NOTICEABLE. IT GETS WORSE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES. THEY HAVE INSPECTED THE STRUTS AND ENGINE MOUNTS AND SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR BUT THE VIBRATION IS STILL THERE. *TR
CAR HAS A CONSISTENT SULFUR/ROTTEN EGGS SMELL FOR AS LONG AS I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM OCCURS AT LEAST 8 OUT OF 10 TIMES DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SMELL IS DISGUSTING AND I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS CAUSING ME AND MY PASSENGERS HEALTH PROBLEMS. I PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH APPROX. 16,000 MILES IN SEPTEMBER 2006. IN 2009 WITH APPOX. 50,000-60,000 MILES ON THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP. IT JERKS WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND DRIVE, IT SHIFTS UP AND DOWN HARD AND IT JERKS WHEN I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK.

I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES IN MY CAR OVER THREE TIMES WITHIN A TWO YEAR SPAN. BRAKES CONTINUE TO SCRUB AND SQUEAL. DEALER SAYS THAT THEY HAVE DONE ALL THEY CAN DO AS THEY HAVE CHANGED MULTIPLE PARTS, COSTING ME "AN ARM AND A LEG". YOU ARE A AFRAID TO MAKE A HARD EMERGENCY STOP BECAUSE DUE TO THE SOUND, YOU AREN'T SURE IF THEY COULD "GO OUT" IN TIME. TRANSMISSION: CARE LITERALLY JERKS INTO GEAR WHEN BACKING UP OR TAKING OFF. YOU CAN'T PARK TOO CLOSE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE OR STOP BECAUSE CAR LITERALLY LEAPS INTO GEAR POSSIBLE CAUSING YOU TO HIT ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF YOU. (FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HAS REAR ENDED YOU). *TR
2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ABS AND ACTUATOR DEFECT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ABS SENSOR AND HUBS WERE REPLACED IN AUGUST 2009, AFTER RECEIVING NOTIFICATION FROM NISSAN. A REPEAT OF THE SAME PROBLEM RECENTLY, REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSORS, HUBS AND ACTUATOR. NISSAN FAILED TO NOTIFY THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL, ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM SINCE 2004 AND ISSUED AN ADVISORY TO DEALERS. FAILURE OF THE COMPONENTS COULD LEAD TO FAILURE IN PROPER BRAKING, SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION OF ENGINE POWER AND LOSS OF SPEEDOMETER READING. NISSAN WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT, BUT REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE.
CAR BURNS APPROXIMATELY 1 LITRE PER 1500 KILOMETERS. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THIS IS BURNING WITHIN THEIR GUIDELINES. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 06' MAXIMA IN 08' I HAD IT FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND THE CD PLAYER DOESNT PLAY ANY THING IT SKIPS SPITS THE CD OUT AND AN ERROR MESG. COMES UP. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY "FIXED IT" SO THEY SAY 1 WEEK LATER IT STARTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE I CALLED AND THEY SAID THEY CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT MAYBE ITS THE CD. SO I NEVER GOT THAT ISSUE FIXED. AN OTHER ISSUE IS MY CAR HAS ABOUT 70K MILES AND EVERY TIME THE CAR GOES 20-30 MPH IT HAS A HARD HIT TO CHANGE GEARS EVERY TIME. MY CAR GET SERVICED EVERY 3-4 MONTHS AND NOW I NEED A NEW TRANMISSION!! I ONLY WORK ABOUT 20 MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE HOW CAN THAT BE? ALSO I HAD TO REPLACE SOME KIND OF BRAKE PART. THERE IS A FACTORY PROBLEM WITH THE 04-06 NISSAN MAXIMA AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. MINE IS A 06, IT JERKS WHENEVER IT GOES FROM 3RD TO 2ND, ALSO FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE. IT HAPPENS ONCE THE CAR WARMS UP. USUALLY AFTER THE 50K MILES, SOME AFTER 85K MILES. THE PROBLEM IS IN THE VALVE BODY, IT HAS BEEN REDESIGNED BY NISSAN 3 TIMES ALREADY, AND THEY SAY THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. ONCE THE VALVE BODY IS NOT WORKING AS IT SHOULD, IT PRODUCES INTERNAL DAMAGE ALSO INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, THEN IT WILL BRAKE MOTOR (EN GINE) AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS, IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. ALSO TO GO FROM SECOND TO THIRD THE ENGINE WILL GO NEED TO GO ATHIGH REVOLUTIONS, IT MAY KILL THE ENGINE. AND AN ENGINE DEAD IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC IS A RECEIPT FOR A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HOPE YOU CAN ADDRESS THIS AND MAKE NISSAN FIX THEIR PROBLEMS. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT IN A CAR THAT COSTS 30K+ NEW HAS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE NEXT TO HIM. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER SEVERAL TIMES. SHE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER LEFT ARM. NO ONE ELSE WAS INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, SHE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 38,500.
GOODYEAR EAGLE TIRES , TIRE HAD 27,000 MILES ON THEM ALL FOUR TIRES WAS CRACKED AROUND THE INSIDE BEAD AT THE RIM , GOODYEAR SAYS THEY DON'T WARRANTY OEM EQUIPMENT BUT THE DEALER SAYS ITS THERE RESPONSIBILITY, I HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES OUT OF POCKET. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHIFT PROPERLY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR, SOMETIMES NOT SHIFTING AT ALL. THE RMPS' WERE UP, BUT THERE WAS NO MOVEMENT. IT ALSO RESPONDED WITH A THUMPING NOISE WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. UPDATED 12/05/11
I PURCHASED MY 2006 MAXIMA IN NOVEMBER 2007 AND I HAD NO PROBLEMS IN THE BEGINNING. THEN WHILE TRYING TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE IT STARTED HESITATING. THIS LASTED FOR A FEW MOVES, THEN I NOTICED THE CAR JERKING. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING I DID, BUT IT CONTINUED TO DO FROM TIME TO TIME. I WENT AND GOT MY TRANSMISSION FLUSHED THINKING THAT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORST, NOT I HAVE SLOW DONE IN TRAFFIC IF A CAR IN FRONT OF ME IS TURNING AND WHEN I ACCELERATE AGAIN IT WILL DO A HEAVY JERK. I HAVE TWO OTHER FRIENDS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I TOLD THE DEALER HOW IS THIS SO THIS IS A NISSAN. HE EXPLAINED THAT THEY ALL GO BAD LIKE THAT. I TOLD HIM THAT I ALSO HAVE A 1994 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 300,00 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A MANUFACTURES PROBLEMS AND THE WAY THE CAR JERKS IT MAY ONE DAY CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS IS NO WAY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE CAN HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AND IT NOT BECOME A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM. *TR
HAVE AN 06 MAXIMA SE THE CAR- JERKING ON THE UPSHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD, SOMETIMES EVEN ON THE DOWNSHIFT. THE CAR WAS PROBLEM-FREE FOR THE 1ST COUPLE OF MONTHS BUT THE LAST 3-4 WEEKS HAVE BEEN A NIGHTMARE. THE JERKING GETS SO BAD, IT FEELS LIKE YOU'RE GETTING PUNCHED! THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND RARELY OCCURS ON THE HIGHWAY. TOOK THE CAR TO MY FRIEND - A MECHANIC. HE SAID THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION, BUT IT SEEMS MY ENGINE MOUNT IS BROKEN AND THAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THE "THUMP ENGINE MOUNT WAS REPLACED AND SAME PROBLEM. *TR
CAR MAKING WHINE/BUZZ SOUND. BEGAN QUIETLY ABOUT 10G MILES AGO BUT HAS GOTTEN MUCH LOUDER PAST 1G MILES. TALKED TO SERVICE AT DEALER. ADVISED TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM. THEY HAVE FIXED NUMEROUS VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. $2400 TO FIX AT DEALER. *TR

HE LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL BEARINGS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE WHEEL BEARINGS. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS ACTIVATES ON ITS OWN. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT DIRT ENTERS THROUGH THE SPEED SENSOR AND CAUSES THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS SINCE THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE SENSOR FAILURE CAUSED THE PUMP MOTOR AND ACTUATOR RELAY TO FAIL. THE CONSUMER STATED HE DISMANTLED THE ABS IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. UPDATED 07/08/09.*JB
AT 12,500 MILES I WAS DRIVING AND IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION. AT 34,000 MILES, IT STARTED KNOCKING AND SMOKING WHEN YOU FIRST START IT. BROUGHT TO DEALER AND THE GAS WAS MIXING WITH THE OIL. MY CLAIM WAS DENIED SO I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. NOW AT 110,000 MILES THE CAR WON'T SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I'M A SINGLE MOTHER AND DO NOT HAVE ANY MORE MONEY TO SINK INTO THIS LEMON.
I DID NOT HAVE A CRASH. I HAVE HAD TWO VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HAD A 2003 NISSAN ALTIMA AND I CURRENTLY HAVE A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. NISSAN, MAXIMA 2006 ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM- THE ABS (ANT LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM) FAILS DUE TO CORROSION. NISSAN HAS A KNOWN FAILURE (AT LEAST SINCE 2008) OF THE ABS FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE. THE BRAKES WILL SUDDENLY PULSATE WHEN ENGAGED. THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN PUT OUT BY NISSAN WHICH COST THE CONSUMER APPROXIMATELY 120.00. (I REQUESTED THE ORIGINAL DRIVE BELTS TO SHOW MY HUSBAND AS I NEVER RECALLED HAVING THIS SERVICE DONE ON ANY OF THE CARS I OWNED AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE.) ON 12/5/08, MY 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA (APPROX. 37,900 MI) JUST STOPPED ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS PUSHED OFF THE HIGHWAY, OPENED THE HOOD, CHECKED THE BELTS (WHICH WERE FINE) & NOTICED FRESH BATTERY ACID SPEWING FROM THE BATTERY. TOWED TO MECHANIC IN TOWN WHO HAD THE CAR FOR 10 DAYS IN WHICH TIME HE CHANGED THE BATTERY AND SAID THE BATTERY WIRING HARNESS HAD BEEN DAMAGED BUT STILL THINKS IT IS SOMETHING ELSE AS THE CAR WOULD START BUT WOULDN'T RUN. CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO MIDDLETOWN NISSAN AND THEY IMMEDIATELY FOUND THE PROBLEM - THE MASS AIR SENSOR WAS BAD. THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR 12/15/08 AND TOLD ME THAT THESE THINGS GO BAD. I CONTACTED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND STATED MY CONCERN THAT THIS HAPPENED AFTER THE MAINTENANCE WORK HAD JUST BEEN DONE. AFTER REVIEW, NISSAN REPAID ME $426.25 FOR THE SENSOR. I CONTINUE TO HAVE CONCERN THAT NOT ONLY MUST I NOW REPLACE THE BATTERY WIRING HARNESS AT A GREAT COST WHICH THE LOCAL MECHANIC ESTIMATED THE PART AT $700 PLUS LABOR, BUT ALSO WHEN I STATED THAT MY CAR JUST STOPPED, WITHOUT WARNING--NO SERVICE LIGHTS, NOTHING (WHAT IF I WERE ON THE THRUWAY DOING 65 MPH AND LOST POWER - ENGINE, STEERING, EVERYTHING -- WITH NO WARNING-- I'D PROBABLY BE DEAD ALONG WITH ANY PASSENGERS) NISSAN'S HEADQUARTERS VERBALLY REPORTED TO ME OVER THE PHONE THAT A CAR IS MECHANICAL AND THESE THINGS CAN HAPPEN. AS I TURNED ON THE IGNITION THE BATTERY EXPLODED. THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING APROX. 5 MINUTES BEFORE THE INCIDENT. I HAD DRIVEN APROX. 15 MILES BEFORE STOPPING. THE TWO CELL COVERS WERE OFF THE BATTERY. THE IMPRINT OF THE BATTERY CAP TOP WAS LEFT ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD. THE HOOD HAD A SMALL DENT UP FROM THE UNDER SIDE. IT LOOKS AS IF THE OTHER CAP HIT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD WHERE THE INFORMATION STICKER IS LOCATED, THERE IS NO INSULATING PROTECTION IN THAT SMALL AREA OF THE HOOD. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS SPRAYED OFF. I WAS TOLD THE BATTERY WAS OUT OF WARRANTY.
