VEHICLE HAS 50,300 MILES WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON. NISSAN SAYS THAT THE INTERANAL FAILURE TO AIR BAG CONTROL UNIT.PART NUMBER 98820-9N092 WAS REPLACED FOR PART PRICE OF $463.15. LABOR TO INSTALL WAS ALSO $463.15.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE AC WENT FROM COLD TO WARM. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THE GUY SAID IT HAD PLENTY OF FREON IN IT. HE SAID SOMETHING IS BLOCKING THE FREON.
AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL FRONT END DAMAGE. I WAS TRAVELING WESTBOUND IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY 84 AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON BRAKES AND CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP. I APPLIED MY BRAKES BUT WAS UNABLE TO AVOID IMPACTING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY CAR WAS CRUMPLED. BOTH FRONT QUARTER PANELS, FRONT BUMPER, GRILL ASSEMBLY, AND HOOD WERE DESTROYED. THE WINDSHIELD ALSO CRACKED. WITH THE EXTENT OF THE FRONT END DAMAGE, THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED.
MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING A FEW WEEKS AGO AT RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. IT'S
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL MALFUNCTIONED AND THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM GAUGE DID NOT OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILL GATTON NISSAN (235 CENTURY BLVD, BRISTOL, TN) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 64,000 MILES AND STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND IT FAILED AGAIN A SECOND TIME WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. DELAERSHIP SAYS I NEED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. FAILURE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN 231 HIGHWAY SOUTH WHEN MY SUNROOF EXPLODED FROM INSIDE OUT GLASS WENT EVERYWHERE. *TR
THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO OPEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT. THE FRONT BUMPER WAS SMASHED AND MY DAUGHTER COULD HAVE PREVENTED INJURIES IF THE AIRBAGS HAD OPEN. I HAVE LOST TRUST IN NISSAN AND THIS CRUSHED MY FAITH IN THEIR PRODUCTS! !!!
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, MEANING AIRBAG IS OFF, WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND THE CAR IS IN MOTION; THE LIGHT ALSO RANDOMLY COMES ON WHEN NO ONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT, THEN IT GOES OFF FOR A WHILE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR AND I KEEP CHECKING FOR A RECALL. I TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID A RECALL WOULD BE COMING OUT IN MARCH 2016, BUT IT'S JULY AND THERE IS STILL NO RECALL. I AM ASTOUNDED THAT I AM PUT IN A POSITION TO HAVE AN ADULT CHILD OF MINE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT RIDING WITH ME WHEN THEY WOULD NOT BE PROTECTED BY THE AIRBAGS THAT I TRUSTED NISSAN TO PROVIDE AND KEEP IN OPERATIONAL CONDITION IN MY CAR. FORTUNATELY, I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT YET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OFF WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHENEVER A 120 LBS PASSENGER OCCUPIED THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
I HAVE REPLACED THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR FIVE TIMES SINCE OCT 2105, THE 1ST TIME WAS ABLE TO GET SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE ANY WARNING LIGHT WOULD APPEAR ON THE DASH BOARD, NOW I DON'T A WEEK BEFORE THE WARNING LIGHT APPEARS AND CAR STALLS OUT, I HAVE CLEANED THE COMPONENTS AROUND THE SENSOR AS WELL AS BOUGHT THE DEALER SENSOR FOR OVER $200 STILL NO DIFFERENCE, NO ONE I HAVE IT TO CAN LOCATE THE ISSUE
THE SUNROOF EXPLODED SPONTANEOUSLY. I WAS SITTING IN EVENING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, AT AN ALMOST STAND STILL. THE INSIDE ROOF PANEL/COVER WAS PULLED BACK, BUT THE SUNROOF ITSELF WAS NOT OPENED. I HAD TURNED THE A/C ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES BECAUSE ALTHOUGH IT WASN'T VERY HOT OUTSIDE (UPPER 70S), I WAS MAKING A BUSINESS CALL OVER THE CAR'S BLUETOOTH SYSTEM, AND HAD ROLLED THE WINDOWS UP IN ORDER TO HEAR THE CALL CLEARLY. AFTER THE CAR GOT COLD, I TURNED THE AIR OFF. BEFORE I COULD OPEN THE WINDOWS, SO THE CAR COULD WARM BACK UP INSIDE, THERE WAS A LARGE "BOOM" AND SUBSEQUENTLY GLASS FROM THE SUNROOF BEGAN FALLING DOWN INTO THE CENTER CONSOLE.
THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT TURNS OFF AND ON WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE SEAT. AND THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE OR WHEN INSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE ' NO KEY' WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
THIS IS MY SECOND NISSAN MAXIMA THAT HAS EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. EVERY MAXIMA I BUY EVERY TIME THE CAR REACHES 100,000 AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY THE TRANSMISSIONS GOES OUT. I CONTACTED NISSAN TO HAVE SOMEONE LOOK INTO THIS AS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HADN'T RECEIVED AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT TRANSMISSIONS.
TIRE RECALL FROM HANKOOK TIRE FOR VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2, 245/45R18. I HAVE CALLED HANKOOK SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY WILL NOT HELP. MY TIRES ARE THE ONES THEY ARE RECALLING. ALL I WANT IS THE REFUND THEY STATE IN THE LETTER THEY SENT TO ME CERTIFIED.
2012 MAXIMA S WITH DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK PROBLEM. NOTICED IT ABOUT A MONTH AGO. KEY FOB WOULDN'T LOCK/UNLOCK THE DOORS. THEN ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON STARTED WORKING SPORADICALLY. A FEW DAYS AGO WHEN DROPPING MY DAUGHTER OFF FOR SCHOOL SHE HAD TROUBLE OPENING THE BACK DOOR TO GET OUT. NOT ONLY IS THIS FRUSTRATING BUT NOW IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD AS WELL. AS OF RIGHT NOW MY DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK THIS MORNING. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND UNSAFE ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE HAS BEEN CAR BREAKINS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE CAR IN YET TO OFFICIALLY SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS DO NOT WORK AND THIS REQUIRES ME TO ENSURE MY DOORS ARE LOCKED MANUALLY. THE COST TO REPAIR IS EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF NISSAN BECAUSE IT IS APPARENTLY A DEFECT. THIS DEFECT IS A SECURITY RISK FOR POTENTIAL THEFT AND PERSONAL INJURY TO THE NISSAN OWNER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT TWO OF THE MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
ALL 4 DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAIL AT THE SAME TIME. DOOR LOCK SWITCH AND REMOTE FAIL TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS AND THE ISSUE STARTED ON ALL 4 DOORS ON THE SAME DAY WITH NO REASON AS TO WHY.
CURRENTLY AT 130,000 MILES, ORIGINAL OWNER, I JUST REPLACED MY 3RD AND 4TH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, ONE OF WHICH WAS A GENUINE NISSAN PART. FAILURES WERE NOT CRITICAL BUT THEIR "LOOSE" CONDITION WOULD NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION CRITERIA. PRIOR TO THIS, THE ORIGINAL FRONT BEARINGS SEPARATELY EXPERIENCED CRITICAL ROAD FAILURES WITH EXCESS NOISE, HEAT AND SEPARATION. BEARINGS WERE REPLACED AT 79,000 (LEFT) AND 45,000 MILES (RIGHT). MAINTENANCE RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE INDICATES THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS ON WHEN SEAT IS VACANT; OFF WITH SEAT IS OCCUPIED. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME, BUT IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM. THE DEALER CLAIMS TO BE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND HAS DEEMED THE VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE.
THE IGNITION LOCKS UP, STRANDING ME. THE PUSH BUTTON START WILL NOT ENGAGE THE STARTED, OR WILL OCCASIONALLY MAKE A CLICKING NOISE WITHOUT STARTING. USUALLY, AFTER A FEW MOMENTS, THE CAR WILL START. THIS SOMETIMES TAKES MORE THAN 10 MINUTES. *TR
DRIVER SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH DURING ACCELERATION AND STOPPING. NISSAN SAYS THAT IT IS NOT A PROBLEM AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE THAT THE SEAT HAS SO MANY MOVING PARTS IT CAN BE LOOSE.
THE DRIVER SEAT HAS A SLIGHT ROCK WHEN TAKING OFF AND BREAKING. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED BACK IN OCTOBER 2014 FROM A HONDA DEALER. I NOTICED THE ROCKING BUT THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A LOOSE NUT OR SOMETHING SO I DIDN'T LOOK INTO IT RIGHT AWAY. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE NISSAN DEALER THEY SAID THE FRAME WAS BROKEN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I CONTACTED NISSAN USA AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE SEAT AND THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THE SEAT MY COME COMPLETELY APART OR SOMETHING WHILE I'M BREAKING AND CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I NOT SURE WHY IF THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE BACK IN 2009 AND FOUND SOME TYPE OF FIX WHY WANT THEY FIX IT NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR
LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND SPUN AROUND AND HIT THE FREEWAY CENTER DIVIDER DIRECTLY HEAD ON AT 60MPH WITHOUT ANY AIRBAGS DEPLOYING. *TR
TAKATA RECALL!! THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT IS ON WITH OR WITHOUT A PERSON IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WHILE DRIVING. THE DRIVERS SIDE CHAIR ROCKS WHEN SLOWING DOWN. THE FRONT END MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE WHEN PRESSING ON THE BREAKS.
2012 MAXIMA'S PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT COMES ON WITH ADULT PASSENGERS EVERY 3RD OR 4TH TRIP. WENT TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP, MAXIMA UNDER WARRANTY, THEY SAID NO CODES WERE TRIPPED AND THAT THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM BUT ARE AWARE OF IT. THEY ALSO GAVE ME A HANDOUT DESCRIBING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AIRBAG OFF LIGHT AND AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME HE WOULD CALL ME IF THERE IS ANYTHING HE CAN DO FOR ME. I CALLED 1-800-NISSAN1 AND FILED A CASE, BUT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP IS "WORKING ON IT". THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT IF I HAVE AN ADULT PASSENGER IN MY MAXIMA AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT OFF IS ON, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING ANY PASSENGERS IN MY MAXIMA AND FEEL NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND TRYING TO IGNORE IT. *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY GIRLFRIEND AND I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. I KNEW RIGHT AWAY THAT NOTHING HAD HIT THE CAR BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE ON THE FREEWAY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT IT. I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO SET UP A TIME TO GET MY VEHICLE REPAIRED, HOWEVER, UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE MANY REPORTS OF THE "EXPLODING SUNROOFS." SOME OF THE DEBRIS FELL THROUGH THE CRACK AND GOT INTO OUR EYES. SOME OF THE SHARDS LANDED ON MY GIRLFRIEND AND PRICKED HER UP, BUT NO REAL DAMAGE. *TR
MY WIFE WEIGHS ABOUT 135 POUNDS .THE AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY WHEN SHE SITS IN THE SEAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON WHICH INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG IS NOT WORKING I HAVE PICTURES TO VALIDATE. SO FAR NISSAN IS NOT TRYING TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO 2 DEALERS , THEY SAY EVERTHING IS NORMAL BUT THE PHOTO PROVE MY COMPLAINT. *JS
RELEASED BRAKE, STARTED ROLLING FORWARD TO CROSS TRAFFIC, STEP ON ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. NO ENGINE REV OR ANYTHING. PUMPED ACCELERATOR MANY TIMES AND FINALLY ENGINE ENGAGED. I PURCHASED MY NISSAN MAXIMA BAND NEW TWO YEARS AGO. OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS MY VEHICLE RECEIVED ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE, WHICH WAS PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. AT 67,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT 'IT JUST HAPPENS SOMETIMES WITH PERFORMANCE ENGINES'. THE TRANSMISSION IS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT I AM NOW TOTALLY DISENCHANTED WITH THE VEHICLE. I KEEP VEHICLES FOR THE LIFETIME OF A CAR. I STILL HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD WITH OVER 300,000 MILES (ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE). I NO LONGER FEEL THAT THE REPLACED TRANSMISSION ON MY MAXIMA IS RELIABLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 NISSAN MAXIMA, I WAS SLOWING TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY STALLED DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO PUSH THE BRAKES AND EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. AFTER STOPPING, I RESTARTED THE CAR, AND WAS WITHOUT POWER STEERING AFTER THAT. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER 2012 NISSAN MAXIMA OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, OTHERS REPORTING THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHICH COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS CRASHES OR WORSE. MY CAR IS OUTSIDE OF NISSAN'S FACTORY WARRANTY, BUT GIVEN THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD WITH 43K MILES, IT SEEMS IT IS STILL FAR TO NEW TO BE HAVING A PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS. BASED ON THE COMMENTS ONLINE, IT WOULD BE IN NISSAN'S AND THE PUBLIC'S BEST INTEREST FOR NISSAN TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING MECHANISMS. *TR
ME AND MY WIFE WERE TRAVELING NORTHBOUND IN OUR 2012 NISSAN MAXIMA AROUND 30MPH ON WESTERN AVENUE IN CHICAGO WHEN SUDDENLY A FORD FOCUS 2007 THAT RAN A STOP SIGN TRAVELING EAST BOUND ON ROSEMONT AVENUE T-BONED US ON DRIVER'S SIDE. AS OUR CAR WAS MOVING AT A SIGNIFICANT SPEED IT STOPPED AFTER CRASHING INTO A FIRE HYDRANT WHICH WAS ON THE CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION. MY WIFE WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL IN AN AMBULANCE WITH ARM AND BACK INJURIES AND I ALSO HAD INJURIES ON MY LEFT ARM, SHOULDER AND LOWER BACK. MY MAIN CONCERN IS WHY NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IF THE CAR WAS TRAVELING AT A SPEED MORE THAN 20 MPH AND HIT A SOLID OBJECT(FIRE HYDRANT). BOTH OF US WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. THE CAR WAS DECLARED TOTALED BY BOTH THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATORS. I AM GLAD THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPENED AT A HIGH SPEED OTHERWISE I WOULD RESTING IN PEACE NOT BE FILING THIS COMPLAIN. NISSAN SHOULD BE QUESTIONED AS TO WHAT SPEED THE AIRBAGS IN MAXIMA DEPLOY AND WHY NONE OF THEM INCLUDING CURTAIN AND FRONTAL DEPLOYED. *TR
ON 2/6/2014, WHEN EXITING HIGHWAY, I LOSS POWER STEERING. DROPPED CAR OFF AT DEALER ON 2/7/14 AND WAS TOLD THAT POWER STEERING PUMP HAS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT FAILED. CONTACTED DEALER FOR AN UPDATE ON 2/12/14 AND WAS TOLD PART WAS ON BACKORDER WITH NO ETA AVAILABLE. AS OF 2/16/2014, NOT SURE WHEN MY CAR WILL BE FIXED. *TR
AS I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO AN OVERPASS, THE STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GO STRAIGHT AHEAD HITTING THE WALL OF THE OVERPASS. AS I CAME TO THE NEXT STOPLIGHT A FEW FEET AHEAD TO PULL OVER INTO THE GAS STATION I COULD BARELY TURN THE CORNER. FIGHTING WITH THE STEERING I MANAGE TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP THE CAR ON 1/30/2014 AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILED POWER STEERING PUMP. IT IS NOW 2/18/2014 AND NOT ONLY DID I NOT GET MY CAR BACK FROM REPAIR, THEIR IS NOT EVEN AN ETA ON WHEN THE PART THAT IS NEEDED IS GOING TO BE IN STOCK. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED ME THAT IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS GOING TO TAKE APPROX A MONTH TO GET THE PART IN STOCK. I FIND THIS VERY UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON RT41 NEAR CHICAGO IN THE MIDDLE LANE AT 65MPH AND TRIED TO CHANGE THE LANE TO GET INTO LEFT LANE FROM MIDDLE LANE, RIGHT THEN WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING SLIGHT LEFT TO CHANGE LANE, IT FELT LIKE THE STEERING OF MY CAR GOT LOCKED. MY CAR WAS INCHES AWAY FROM COLLIDING INTO CONCRETE BARRICADE, I HAD TO WRESTLE WITH THE STEERING TO AVOID THAT CRASH AND PULLED THE CAR ON THE SHOULDER. I MIGHT HAVE GOT KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS. THIS IS REALLY A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. DEALERSHIP INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED. MY CAR IS AT DEALERSHIP SINCE THEN AND TODAY IS 2/1/14, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PUMP IS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL FIRST WEEK OF MARCH, SO MY CAR WILL SIT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS. *TR
TOTAL AND ABRUPT FAILURE AND LOSS OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING. *TR
EVERYTIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE THEY'RE A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN THE IT REACHES 35 MPH. ALSO WHEN I START THE CAR THEY'RE A DIFFERENT IDLING NOISE, I'M NOT SURE HOW IF IT'S THE EXHAUST SYSTEM OR IF THEY'RE A LOOSE BOLT THAT'S CAUSING THIS. WHEN TO NISSAN NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEMS.
WHEN VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 YEARS OLD THE POSITIVE BATTERY CONNECTOR CONNECTING THE POWER CABLE FROM THE AUTOMOBILE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO THE BATTERY CORRODED AND CAME APART. THE NISSAN PART DESCRIPTION AND PART NUMBER IS "BATTERY TERMINAL 243 - PART # 24340-7F003). THIS WAS REPLACED WITH A FACTORY PART. APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 YEARS LATER IT CORRODED AND CAME APART AGAIN. THIS FAILURE CAUSES THE ENGINE TO LOOSE ANY ELECTRICITY FROM THE BATTERY, WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP, CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND AIR BAG PROTECTION OR PREVENTS THE ENGINE FROM STARTING DUE TO NO ELECTRICITY FEEDING THE STARTER AND VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. FORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURRED ON EITHER OCCASION OR SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH COULD HAVE OCCURRED. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE DESIGN OF THIS CONNECTOR OR THE TYPE OF MATERIAL FROM WHICH IT S MADE IS ADEQUATE. I HAVE REPLACED THE CONNECTOR WITH A LEAD BATTERY CONNECTOR USED FOR CONNECTING RV BATTERIES AND DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE VEHICLE WILL EVER SUFFER THIS PROBLEM AGAIN WITH THE AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT CONNECTOR. FORTUNATELY FOR ME THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WHEN THESE FAILURES OCCURRED. OTHER THAN THE OBVIOUS DANGER, I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM WOULD CAUSE MOST PEOPLE TO INCUR SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE IN TOWING AND REPAIR CHARGES, JUST TO REPLACE THE CONNECTOR. ALTHOUGH I WAS ABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEMS MYSELF, I DOUBT THAT MOST PEOPLE WOULD BE ABLE TO DO SO ON THEIR OWN. THE PARTS SALES PERSON AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD BOUGHT A SECOND CONNECTOR (ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT USED) SEEMED TO INDICATE THAT THEY SOLD AN AWFUL LOT OF THESE CONNECTORS, WHICH SUGGESTS THAT A BETTER DESIGN OR MATERIAL WOULD BE ADVISABLE AND MAKE IT MUCH LESS LIKELY THAT A FAILURE OF THIS NATURE WOULD OCCUR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE OPEN DOOR WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH ALL FOUR DOORS WERE CLOSED SECURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH WAS ENGAGED IT FAILED TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND THE INTERIOR AUTOMATIC DOORS WOULD ONLY UNLOCK MANUALLY. IN ADDITION, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,995.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES SPORADICALLY WHEN THERE IS AN ADULT PASSENGER SITTING IN THE SEAT WHICH INFORMS THAT THE AIRBAG IS DEACTIVATED. BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER 5 TIMES OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES SHOWING UP. THE LAST TIME THEY CHECKED WAS FRIDAY APRIL 4TH 2014. THE DEALER STATED THE SAME THING. THE MECHANIC WHO TESTED CAME OUT TO TALK TO US ABOUT THIS. MY WIFE SAT IN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND STARTED THE CAR. I SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN FRONT OF THE MECHANIC. I ASKED HIM IF I WAS SEATED PROPERLY, HE AGREED I WAS AND TOOK THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS STILL RUNNING TO TEST FOR CODES AGAIN. HE COULD NOT FIND ANY ERROR CODES BUT, ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. NISSAN NORTH AMERICAN TOLD ME THAT THEY SPOKE TO THE REPAIR MANAGER AND HE STATED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS OPERATING PROPERLY AND NISSAN TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM. SEEMS STRANGE THAT NISSAN IS RECALLING 994,000 2013 AND 2014 VEHICLES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE CLAIMING THERE IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT CONSIDER UPDATING THE SOFTWARE IN MY 2012 MAXIMA. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY NISSAN AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO SO. *JS
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH OF THE NJ TURNPIKE I HEARD A LOUD BOOM SOUND AND VIBRATIONS ON THE ACCELERATOR I LOOKED IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND SAW DEBRIS AND A CLOUD OF SMOKE. SMELLS OF SOMETHING BURNING ALSO THERE WAS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF MY CAR. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED PULLING OVER FROM THE MIDDLE LANE AS I'M PULLING OVER ALMOST CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT THE CAR WENT DEAD EVERYTHING JUST BLEW OUT COAST OFF TO THE SHOULDER ALMOST KILLING MYSELF AND OTHERS. I IMMEDIATELY RUSHED OUT OF THE CAR AND STARTED RUNNING ON THE SHOULDER BECAUSE I THOUGHT MY CAR WAS GOING TO BLOW UP. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY CALLED PULEIOS TOW TRUCK OF NORTH BRUNSWICK NJ WHICH WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THEY TOWED ME OFF THE TURNPIKE I HAD TO PAY $150 OUT OF POCKET FOR THIRD PARTY TOWING THAT I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF NO CONTROL OF AND NO MONEY! NISSAN ROADSIDE SUPERVISOR[XXX]TOLD ME "THAT'S YOUR BILL TO PAY AND SOON AS YOU PAY WE WILL DISPATCH OUR TOW TUCK TO TAKE YOU TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. WHERE I HAD THE CAR SERVICED." AFTER THE MONEY WAS PAID I STILL HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER 2 1/2HR. AFTER BEING STRANDED FROM QUARTER TO 9AM. JUST HEARTLESS FOR A CUSTOMER WHO WAS ALMOST KILLED ON THE NJ TURNPIKE ALL FROM THERE MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE BATTERY WHICH EXPLODED AND BLEW TWO BIG HOLES IN THE ENGINE. DIAGNOSTIC DONE BY NORTH PLAINFIELD NJ...MY ENGINE IS COMPLETELY BLOWN AND THE CAR IS ONLY 14 MONTHS OLD. NOW HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT! SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR IN MAY 2013 I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL TIMES THAT WITH OR WITHOUT SOMEONE IN MY PASSENGER SEAT MY AIR BAG SENSOR WILL LIGHT UP SHOWING THAT THE AIR BAG IS OFF NO MATTER HOW I OR THE PERSON IN THE SEAT MOVES IT WILL NOT COME ON. THE AIR BAG JUST REMAINS TURNED OFF. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME I JUST FOUND OUT HOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT IT IN HOPES OF GETTING IT FIXED. I KNOW THERE ARE RECALLS ON MANY NISSAN MAKES AND MODELS FOR THIS BUT THE 2012 MAXIMA IS EXCLUDED. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG TURNS OFF WHEN EITHER WHEN MY HUSBAND WHICH IS 230LBS AND MYSELF 132 LB AND SOME OTHER PASSENGERS. REPORTED THIS TO NISSAN BROUGHT THE CAR IN. THE SAY ITS WORKING FINE. EVEN WHEN I HAVE VIDEO THAT THE AIRBAG HAS CLICKED OFF FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
WHEN ANY ADULT SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WHO IS NOT HEAVY WILL NOT ENABLE THE AIRBAG. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE BUT THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN ANY OTHER CAR. *TR
DRIVER SEAT ROCKS SLIGHTLY ON TAKE OFF ACCELERATION OR SLOWING OF VEHICLE. HAS EXISTED SINCE CAR WAS NEW AND RECURS FREQUENTLY. NISSAN HAS ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN FOR 2009-2010 SERVICE YEAR FOR PROBLEM (NTB09-092B) BUT HAS NOT EXTENDED IT TO SUBSEQUENT YEARS ALTHOUGH USER COMPLAINTS ARE RAMPANT. I AM CONCERNED THAT SEAT COULD COME LOOSE IN COLLISION. DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE TO AVOID WARRANTY REPAIR. NISSAN FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE LARGER QUALITY AND POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE ON MULTIPLE YEARS OF MAXIMA MODEL.. *TR
THERE IS A NEW RECALL FOR AIRBAG SENSER MISINTERPRETING THE WEIGHT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IN MANY NISSAN MODELS. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR, MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL - BUT I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN MY WIFE, WHO IS AROUND 130 LBS, SITS IN THE SEAT, ABOUT HALF OF THE TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG IS DISABLED. SHE ALWAYS SITS ALL THE WAY BACK IN THE SEAT. SPEED OR DRIVING ENVIRONMENT DO NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE ISSUE. I HAVE DISCUSSED THE ISSUE WITH TWO NISSAN DEALERSHIPS, AND THE ISSUE STILL OCCURS. THE FIRST DENIED THEY COULD HELP BECAUSE IT WASNT CURRENTLY HAPPENING WHEN I HAD IT AT THE SHOP. THE SECOND DEALERSHIP RECALIBRATED THE SENSOR AND IT THAT BROUGHT THE FREQUENCY DOWN SLIGHTLY TO THE CURRENT 50% I AM FRUSTRATES THAT MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CURRENT RECALL AND FEEL LIKE IT NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE OTHER MODEL YEARS, SUCH AS MINE.
