SUN VISOR ON DRIVERS SIDE DROPS INTO LINE OF SIGHT. WILL NOT STAY IN ONE POSITION. *TR
NISSAN MURANO 2004, FRONT DRIVERS SEAT BROKE LOOSE WHILE PARKED AND BEING SAT UPON. SEAT REPLACED 12/19/08 AT A CONSUMER COST OF $965.72. *TR
I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN MURANO AND HAVE BEEN READING ON THE FORUM WEBSITES REGARDING THE SUN VISOR. MY SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP ON IT'S OWN IN THIS VEHICLE. IT MAY STAY UP FOR A FEW MINUTES, BUT IF YOU HIT A BUMP WRONG THE SUN VISOR CAN SWING DOWN AND BLOCK VIEW OF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS VISOR WILL ALSO NOT STAY UP TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD WHEN I ACTUALLY WANT TO USE IT TO BLOCK THE SUN SO I CAN SEE. I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE I DON'T KNOW WHEN THE SUN VISOR WILL FLIP DOWN AND BLOCK MY VIEW OF THE ROAD UNEXPECTEDLY. *TR
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS FALL WITH ANY MINOR BUMP (OR EVEN WITHOUT ANY JARRING AT TIMES). NOT ONLY DOES IT STARTLE THE DRIVER WHEN IT HAPPENS (POSSIBLY LEADING TO ERRATIC DRIVING, BUT IT BLOCKS THE DRIVER'S FIELD OF VISION CREATING A FURTHER SAFETY HAZARD. MANY TIMES SIMPLY RAISING THE VISOR UP DOES NOT WORK AND IT FALLS AGAIN LEAVING THE DRIVER TRYING TO HANDLE THE CAR SAFELY WITH ONE HAND WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY TRYING TO KEEP THE VISOR OUT OF HIS FIELD OF VISION. *TR
THE SUN VISOR LOCATED ABOVE THE DRIVER SIDE DOES NOT STAY UP PROPERLY. IT FLAPS DOWN AND BLOCKS THE VIEW OF THE ROAD AND TRAFFIC FROM THE DRIVER. THIS ISSUE IS PREVALENT IN MANY MURANOS - SEE POSTING BOARDS - AND SHOULD BE A RECALLED. *KB
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN MURANO, AND TODAY AFTER ONLY OWNING THE CAR FOR LESS THAN A YEAR, THE DRIVER SEAT (AUTOMATIC) BROKE AND IS LEANING TO THE LEFT. I AM COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THIS PROBLEM WILL BE COVERED BY NISSAN, BUT TO THOSE MANY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TOO, I FEEL OBLIGATED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE. I FEEL THIS IS A DRIVING HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR EVEN DEATH. WHEN THE SEAT BROKE, I WAS IN MOVING TRAFFIC OF AROUND 45 MILES AN HOUR, AND I ALMOST SWERVED TO THE LEFT AND HIT A CAR. THIS IS A PARTS ISSUE THAT NISSAN SHOULD COVER. I THINK IT WOULD BE UNJUST TO ALLOW NISSAN TO NOT RECALL THIS ITEM AND REPAIR THIS ITEM FOR FREE. I WEIGH LESS THAN 185, SO I DOUBT THIS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO WEIGHT ISSUES. IT'S A DEFECTIVE PARTS ISSUE. PLEASE CONTACT NISSAN TO GET THIS CORRECTED. *TR
NISSAN MURANO 2004 FUEL DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. THE PROBLEM STARTED AS INTERMITTENT AND NOW CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR TO REFUEL THE CAR. TROUBLESHOOTED IT TO A FAULTY RELAY. *TR
THE FRAME TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SEAT BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I NEARLY RAN OFF THE ROAD, NARROWLY MISSING ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. THIS SHOULDN'T BE, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEM. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR DROPPED DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY AND INTERMITTENTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE FUEL CAP SINCE THE FILLER WAS RUSTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 138,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DID A THROTTLE BODY CLEANING ON A NISSAN MURANO AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A MONEY MAKER AND MANY SHOP THAT CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY HAVE TO COME TO THEM FOR THE RE-LEARNING OF THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. THIS IS CRAZY ,I HAVE DONE THIS ON MY PORSCHE AND MY FORDS AND CHEVY AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE A WARNING STICKER ON THE THROTTLE BODY TO SEE MANUAL -THE MANUAL SHOULD STATE DO NOT CLEAN OR YOU WILL NEED TO GO TO DEALER TO RE-LEARN THE IDLE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM. *TR
2004 MURANO SL AWD WITH ONLY 29,000 MILES WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT, SLIP LIGHT, AND VDC LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. UPON PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL, IT TOOK A COUPLE SECONDS FOR ANY ACCELERATION TO OCCUR. AFTER GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN, THE ACCELERATION WAS DELAYED AND WOULD ONLY GO UP TO ABOUT 40 MPH, BUT THE RPMS WERE EXTREMELY HIGH. EVERY TIME I TRY TO TAKE OFF FROM A STOP, IT TAKES AWHILE FOR ANY ACCELERATION TO OCCUR. FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. NOW I'M BEING TOLD THAT EVEN WITH ONLY 29,000 MILES, IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STOPPING AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE A LEAK IN THE TRANSMISSION WAS DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WILL FALL DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY BLOCKING DRIVER'S VIEW. STARTED OUT ONLY 1 OR 2 TIMES PER WEEK, WHEN YOU HIT A DIP OR BUMP. NOW FALLS DOWN 15 TO 20 TIMES PER DAY AT RANDOM TIMES. WE HAVE VELCROED IT TO THE CEILING (WHICH IS VERY UNATTRACTIVE) AND DOESN'T WORK 100% OF THE TIME. DEALER HAS NO SUGGESTIONS OTHER THAN TOTAL REPLACEMENT. HAVE ALSO HAD BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S SIDE LOCKS FAIL AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED. JUST QUIT UNLOCKING. WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER REARVIEW MIRROR FELL OFF ALONG WITH A HUGE CHUNK OF THE WINDSHIELD. BOSE 6-CD PLAYER QUIT WORKING OVER 2 YEARS AGO. DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT MOVES WHEN YOU ACCELERATE OR STOP. *TR
MY 2004 MURANO IS NOW CLOCKING 80,000 MILES. I NOTICE A PROBLEM WITHIN THE LAST 20,000 MILES WHENEVER I GET STUCK IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I WOULD STEP ON THE GAS AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN FOR A FEW SECONDS AND SUDDENLY IT TAKES OFF. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKE TO PREVENT SMACKING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ORDEAL. MY DEALER INFORMED ME THAT HE IS NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED A TRANSMISSION SERVICE. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED BUT ALWAYS AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A WHILE OR WHEN I AM IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND FROM THE DEALER THAT IT IS A PRESSURE SENSOR PROBLEM THAT IS TYPICAL FOR MODEL THAT I HAVE. THE PROBLEM IS THE COST REPAIR IS HALF OF THE VALUE OF THE CAR. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR IN OUR 04 NISSAN MURANO BEGAN TO BE HARD TO MOVE UP OR DOWN ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO. EVENTUALLY, SOMETHING INSIDE THE VISOR JUST GAVE UP, AND THE VISOR STARTED FALLING DOWN UNDER IT'S OWN WEIGHT. IT WILL NOT STAY UP. THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR IS BEGINNING TO BE HARD TO MOVE NOW, AND IF IT FOLLOWS THE PATTERN OF THE OTHER VISOR, IT WILL FAIL SOON. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY HAD ME TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. DEALER CONFIRMED THAT IT HAS FAILED AND ADVISED CUSTOMER SERVICE OF SAME. HE ALSO TOLD THEM THAT DRIVER SIDE VISOR WOULD PROBABLY FAIL SOON. STANDARD 36 MONTH WARRANTY WILL NO LONGER COVER VISORS AS IT HAS LONG SINCE RUN OUT. I HAVE THE 100,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT IT WILL NOT COVER THE VISORS. I ADVISED CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, SINCE THE VISOR FALL WHILE DRIVING, AND OBSTRUCTS THE DRIVER'S VISION, REQUIRING DRIVER TO CONSTANTLY LEAN OVER AND PUSH THE VISOR BACK UP. I ALSO ADVISED THAT I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT HAD VISORS THAT FAILED. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE WARRANTY THAT WOULD HAVE COVERED THE VISORS HAS EXPIRED, AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME REPLACE THEM. I INFORMED THEM THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET WHO HAVE HAD OR ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP ON DRIVERS SIDE. WHEN IT DROPS IT BLOCKS MY VISION. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU RAISE IT UP IT FALLS DOWN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND YOU MUST USE ONE HAND TO HOLD IT UP. I DON'T HAVE 400 TO REPLACE IT AND THE DEALER WILL NOT EVEN GIVE A DISCOUNT. *TR
SAID VEHICLE STOPPED WHILE LEAVING A LIGHT AND ENTERING I 395 IN URBAN AREA WITH AN ONCOMING TRACTOR TRAILER COMING SWIFTLY BEHIND ME. THE REASON THE VEHICLE STOPPED IS BECAUSE THE AIR VAC HOSE CONTINUALLY COMES LOSE FROM REGULAR USE OF A NISSAN MURANO 2004. THIS IS THE FIFTH TIME THAT THE VEHICLE HAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. LAST YEAR, THE VEHICLE STOPPED GOING UP A MOUNTAIN IN WV AROUND A CURVE ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY. THE ONLY REASON THAT MY DAUGHTER AND I DID NOT GET HIT AND/OR KILLED (DUE TO LOCATION) WAS BECAUSE OF THE ASSISTANCE OF AN ONCOMING VEHICLE THAT WAS PREPARED WITH CONES AND INFORMATION. TODAY, I ALMOST GOT SLAMMED INTO BY A TRAILOR. I HAD TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE AND WAVE ARMS TO GET HIM TO STOP. I AM SO ANGRY, NOT ONLY BECAUSE THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN, BUT BECAUSE I HAVE A SIX YEAR OLD CHILD WHO HAS BEEN SCREAMING OUT OF FEAR DURING TWO OF THE INCIDENTS WHERE THE VEHICLE STOPPED. I CALLED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN MOTOR ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION. THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL WHICH I CANNOT UNDERSTAND. PLEASE HELP! SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
I WAS LEAVING PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. I PARKED AND EXITED TO INSPECT. I FOUND THE TIE ROD TO MY WHEELS DISCONNECTED. I HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE TIE ROD DISCONNECTED. PARTS WERE REPLACED AND KEPT. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DEATH. *TR
I OWN A NISSAN MURANO AND IN MAY 08 DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING WE HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. WE MANAGED TO PULL OVER, STOPPED THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED IT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BUT WE WERE GOING OUT OF TOWN AND CAR DROVE FINE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON 9/6/08 AND TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY CLAIM IT WAS A WIRING PROBLEM TO THE THROTTLE CONNECTION AND REPAIRED IT AND ASSURED ME THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. DRIVING HOME ON AN EXTREMELY BUSY FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR IT HAPPENED AGAIN, TODAY 9/25 AND THIS TIME THE CAR BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID ME BUT I WAS NEAR MY EXIT AND CRUISED TO A STOP. I WAS QUITE SHAKEN. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND IT STARTED AGAIN AND IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STILL HAVE IT AND ARE CHECKING IT. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN AND THEY APPARENTLY DO NOT HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS AND ALSO THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT HEARD OF THIS WHICH IS QUITE SURPRISING AS LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE MURANO FOR SAME PROBLEM ON WEBSITES. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE 2004 NISSAN MURANO (LESS THAN 37,000 MILES) IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE IGNORING IT. WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY THAT WE WERE NOT REAR-ENDED AT HIGH SPEEDS WHERE SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM NISSAN BUT THE FACT THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM IS AMAZING, JUST TYPE IN NISSAN MURANO SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND YOU WILL SEE. NOT SURE IF ANYTHING CAN BE DONE, BUT I WANT MY COMPLAINT DOCUMENTATION IN CASE SOMEONE DIES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE SUN VISORS FAILED TWICE WITHIN 36000 MILES. THEY SWING DOWN AND BLOCK YOUR LINE OF SIGHT. THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BOTH TIMES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC AND WAS FORCED TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. MY 8 YEAR OLD SON WAS WITH ME AND THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND INJURY. SUPERIOR NISSAN, WHERE I PURCHASED THE CARE LESS THAN 5 MONTHS PRIOR, SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY AND CAM LOBE SENSOR WAS GOING BAD. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 67,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER REFUSED TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND QUOTED US A COST OF $2200 TO REPAIR. AFTER READING HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, I FEEL THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL ALL MURANO MODELS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND REPAIR THEM. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM AND THEY ARE IGNORING THE FACT THEY PUT OUT A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THAT COULD CAUSE INJURIES OR DEATHS. *TR
FAILURE OF DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR AND GAS CAP DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE FAILURE OF MY GAS CAP DOOR ACTUATOR MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD HAVE LEFT ME STRANDED. THE FAILURE OF MY DRIVER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR CAUSED ME TO BELIEVE MY DOOR WAS LOCKED WHEN IN FACT IT WAS UNLOCKED...THIS FAILURE EXPOSED ME TO A PERSONAL SAFETY BREACH. *TR
2004 NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS DOOR LOCK DOES NOT OPERATE. IT ONLY OPERATES MANUALLY, THE KEY REMOTE WILL NOT OPERATE THE LOCK, NOR WILL THE BUTTON INSIDE OF THE CAR. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE CAR IS MANUALLY WITH THE KEY FROM THE OUTSIDE OR WITH THE LATCH ON THE INSIDE. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. I FOUND OUT FROM THE GARAGE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL, I AGAIN WAS NEVER INFORMED AND WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVED REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS EXPENSE. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO, WITH 75,000 MILES STARTED TO HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, AND SEEMED NOT TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THEN IT JUST STOPPED. EVENTUALLY IT WOULD NOT SHIFT AT ALL, AND WHEN PUT INTO GEAR, THE CAR WOULD THUMP AND THEN STALL OR DIE. THE NISSAN DEALER, BILL HOOD NISSAN, HAMMOND, LOUISIANA SAID THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION...THIS ORIGINAL CHARGE WAS $4,635. I CANNOT AFFORD THIS EXPENSE SO I WAS NOT ABLE TO HAVE THE WORK DONE THERE. AFTER READING THE NISSAN OWNER'S WEBSITE POSTINGS, I FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF NISSAN MURANO OWNERS...SO MUCH SO, THAT I PERSONALLY BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS TRANSMISSION. I AM A VERY UPSET NISSAN CUSTOMER, AS THE NORMAL DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY IS ONLY 60,000 MILES, AND NOT THE USUAL IMPLIED WARRANTY OF 100,000 MILES. CAR STARTED TO JERK FORWARD WHEN I WAS 2 HOURS INTO A 3 1/2 HOUR DRIVE. THIS OCCURRED WHEN I CAME UPON HEAVY HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, AND HAD TO IDLE IN TRAFFIC. TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS ABOUT 98 TO 100 DEGREES, AND THE CAR WAS NOT OVERHEATING (NO SMOKE/TEMP GAUGE WAS NORMAL). LATER ON INTO THE DRIVE, THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK FORWARD AND CUT OUT AT STOP LIGHTS. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AT THE STOP LIGHT THEN TURN IT BACK ON TO GET THE CAR TO DRIVE. LATER ON IN THE DAY, THE CAR GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. IT STARTED TO MAKE A LABORING/WHINING SOUND AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND A PARTICULAR SPEED OR RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. EVENTUALLY, TURNING THE CAR OFF THEN ON DID NOT WORK. THE CAR WOULD DRIVE ABOUT 20 FEET THEN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, THEN COAST TO A STOP. I HAD TO BE TOWED FROM PHILADELPHIA TO VIRGINIA BECAUSE THERE WERE NO NISSAN SHOPS, NOR AUTO SHOPS OPEN DURING THAT TIME OF A SATURDAY. SUNDAY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A BUSINESS DAY FOR MECHANICS EITHER. I HAVE SPOKE TO MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME FAILURE WITH THE SOLENOIDS IN THE LOCK MECHANISM NOT FUNCTIONING RELIABLY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY FACTOR, NOT HAVING THE SECURITY OF A LOCKED DOOR, ALLOWING ANYONE ACCESS AT WILL. I CAN'T BELIEVE NISSAN CONTINUES TO DENY THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THESE LOCKS WITH SO MANY HAVING IDENTICAL PROBLEMS. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE WILL LOSE THEIR LIFE OR BE INJURED FROM THIS LACK OF SECURITY FROM THE DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER IN CONNECTICUT STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NEVER PERFORMED. WHILE DRIVING 30MPG+, IT STARTS TO FEEL LIKE THE CAR IS PULLING BACK, IN AN INCORRECT GEAR. DOING A QUICK SEARCH SHOWS THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF A NISSAN MURANO EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM, AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT ITS THE PRESSURE SENSOR AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACEMENT, COSTING BETWEEN $5400-$7000. COULD START IT AGAIN, BUT DIDN'T LAST LONG. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER DETERMINED STEEL TENSIONER BRACKET AND PULLEY BROKE CUTTING DRIVE BELT. DEALER INDICATED NOT WARRANTED UNDER WRAP COVERAGE. NOTICED IN NHTSA LIST OF COMPLAINTS SEVERAL SIMILAR OCCURRENCES WITH THESE PARTS.
