2004 NISSAN MURANO AWD LEAKS FLUID FROM TRANSFER CASE AND/OR CVT TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY RESULTING IN EVENTUAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSFER CASE AND/OR TRANSMISSION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT STAY IN THE UPWARD POSITION. WHEN DRIVING, IT WOULD FALL DOWN OBSTRUCTING THE CONTACT'S VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD STARTLE HER AND COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN A CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. NISSAN MURANO SEAT LOOSE AND WOBBLY, STRAINING MY BACK AND CAUSING PROBLEMS WHEN PRESSING THE PEDALS, THIS SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL!!! ALSO TILTED TO THE DRIVERS DOOR SIDE. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN NISSAN. NISSAN MURANO 2004- FRONT DRIVERS SEAT IS LOOSE AND WIGGLY FOR THE LAST WEEK. LAST NIGHT IT WAS EXTREMELY COLD AND THE SEAT SEEMED TO COLLAPSE ON THE DOOR SIDE LEAVING IT CROOKED IT FEELS AWKWARD TO DRIVE, WORRIED THAT THE SEAT WILL COME OFF OR SOMETHING. I JUST CONTACTED NISSAN AND AM WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. THIS CAR WAS A GIFT FROM MY DAD IN FLORIDA AND I ONLY HAVE OWNED IT FOR ABOUT A YEAR, SO I DOUBT RUST IS AN ISSUE. RIGHT NOW I AM UNABLE TO PAY FOR A EXPENSIVE REPAIR DUE TO HIGH WINTER BILLS AND X-MAS. ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU. *TR
BATTERY DIES EVERY 4 TO 6 MO. HAVE TO KEEP BUYING NEW BATTERIES BECAUSE NISSAN SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM. FIRST TIME WITH ORIGINAL OEM BATTERY (2 YEARS OLD) ON VACATION AND THE BATTERY DIED IN THE HOTEL PARING LOT ON A SUNDAY OUT OF TOWN. WOULD NOT JUMP START. NO DEALER OPEN SO BOUGHT A $150 BATTERY FROM WELL KNOWN PARTS STORE. NOW EVERY 4 TO 6 MO BATTERY DIES THE SAME WAY, WILL NOT JUMP START BECAUSE DEED CELL IN BATTERY THIS IS THE 5TH BATTERY NOW IN 2 YEARS. NISSAN SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY THING AND THE PARTS STORE SAYS ITS NOT THEIR BATTERIES. I AM LEFT WITH A CAR I CAN NOT TAKE ON TRIPS AS IT WILL DIE ON US. NISSAN SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS AND A NEW BATTERY IS REPLACED BUT HAPPENS AGAIN. PARTS STORE RUNS TEST ON BATTERY AND ON CAR THEY SHOW INTERMITTENT SPIKES BUT IT DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THERE ELECT. TOOL. HELP I AM STUCK AND NO I WANTS TO HELP. *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO FAILS TO STAY 'UP' OUT OF THE DRIVER'S VISION. IT STARTS TO FALL UNEXPECTEDLY AND BECOMES MORE AND MORE PRONE TO FALLING INTO THE DRIVERS LINE OF VISION. MY FIRST SUN VISOR FAILED BEFORE I HAD THE CAR THREE YEARS BUT AFTER I HAD DRIVEN 36,000 MILES. AFTER A NUMBER OF PHONE CALLS TO NISSAN, THEY REPLACED THE SUN VISOR. NOW, APPROXIMATELY THREE YEARS LATER, THE REPLACEMENT SUN VISOR ALSO FALLS UNTO MY LINE OF SIGHT. THIS IS NOT REPAIRABLE: IT MUST BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF OVER $300 FOR THE PART ALONE, AND I EXPECT, FROM THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN, THAT THE NEXT VISOR WILL ALSO FAIL. *TR
2004 NISSAN MURANO SUNVISORS ARE JUNK. THEY ARE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THEY FALL DOWN WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND OBSTRUCT YOUR VISION. NISSAN WANT $330.00 TO REPLACE THIS VISOR WITH I ASSUME ANOTHER PIECE OF CRAP YA RIGHT, THEY NEED TO BE RECALLED!!!!!!!!!! 2004 NISSAN MURANO, NORMAL USAGE OF THE DRIVER SEAT, NOTICED SEAT ROCKING 9 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT "CERTIFIED USED", TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER, WAS TOLD IT WAS A BROKEN SEAT BRACKET, COST TO REPAIR $948 + TAX. THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS IS ENDLESS! THIS IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW, A SEAT SHOULD NEVER BREAK LIKE THIS UNDER NORMAL WEAR, AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY NISSAN AFTER SO MANY DOCUMENTED COMPLAINTS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT HAS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT AUTOMATIC SEAT ADJUSTMENT IS NOT WORKING. THE SEAT IS NOW STARTING TO SWAY BACK AND FORTH WHILE THE CONTACT IS DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATES THAT A DEALER STATED THAT IT IS BECAUSE THE RAIL BAR IS BROKEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90000.
THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR KEEPS FLOPPING DOWN AND OBSTRUCTING VIEW. THERE IS A MECHANISM FAILURE IN THE SPRING THAT HOLDS IT UP. HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON BLOGS ABOUT THIS AND EVEN IF YOU ORDER A NEW VISOR, MECHANISM STILL FAILS. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ONE THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A RESOLUTION.... IT IS ALSO ON THE ONUS OF THE DRIVER TO DEAL WITH A DEFECT. *TR
THE DRIVER'S VISOR FALLS SUDDENLY BLOCKING VISION. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CAUSE THIS. I HAVE READ OF MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS BY MURANO OWNERS ONLINE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS IGNORING. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE SEATBELT LATCH IS MALFUNCTIONING. SOMETIMES THE LATCH WON'T RELEASE THE SEATBELT AND SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T RELATCH THE BELT. IT IS HAPPENING ALMOST EVERY TIME I GET IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR IS FAILING ON MY 2004 NISSAN. I ALREADY HAD THE FUEL LOCK ACTUATOR FAIL WHICH CAUSED ME AND MY BABY TO BE STUCK AT THE PUMP WITH NO GAS AND THE INABILITY TO OPEN THE FUEL DOOR. I HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP (MAY 2009). THEY REPLACED THE ACTUATOR ON THE FUEL DOOR. THEN THE DOOR LOCKS STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AND THEY QUOTED ME $469 PER DOOR. I CANNOT AFFORD IT. I RESOLVED TO IGNORING IT AND JUST PUSHING THE BUTTON UNTIL THEY OPEN, BUT THEN THE MOST DANGEROUS THING HAPPENED (10/3/09). I GOT OUT OF THE CAR WITH MY CHILD IN THE BACK IN HER CAR SEAT. I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE LOCK BUTTON AND WHEN I WENT TO GET HER OUT OF THE CAR, THE DOORS WOULDN'T OPEN. I COMPLETELY PANICKED. THIS SCARED HER AND SHE GOT WORKED UP AS WELL. PEOPLE CAME RUNNING TO HELP ME. WE STARTED TO BREAK A WINDOW TO GET HER OUT OF THE CAR, BUT DECIDED THAT SHOULD BE THE LAST RESORT. LUCKILY THERE WERE COOLER HEADS WORKING WITH ME. I MIGHT HAVE DONE IT IF I WAS FULLY ALONE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF PEOPLE TRYING TO HELP ME GET HER OUT, WE DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS ONE DOOR THAT I COULD PUT THE KEY IN (THE DRIVERS SIDE). SO I WENT BACK AROUND AND WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, CLIMB THROUGH THE CAR AND GET HER OUT OF HER SEAT. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR THE SAFETY OF CHILDREN. IT IS ALSO UNSAFE BECAUSE WHEN IN THE CAR, WE HAVE A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY THAT THE DOORS ARE LOCKED AND THEY CAN POTENTIALLY NOT BE. I FEAR CARJACKING IN PARKING LOTS OFTEN, NOW I KNOW THAT MY LOCKS CAN FAIL AT ANY MOMENT. I AM SAVING MY MONEY TO GET THEM REPAIRED BECAUSE I FOUND AT LEAST 6 DIFFERENT WEBSITES WHERE PEOPLE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME THINGS: THE FUEL DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR AND THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE IN PROTECTING THEIR LOYAL SUPPORTERS. I AM SAVING THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS TO BE FIXED, BUT I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. *TR
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE TO THE THROTTLE IN STOP AND GO CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE THEN SUDDENLY SURGES AS THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED FURTHER CAUSING THE DRIVER TO QUICKLY SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID COLLISIONS. THIS CREATES UNEXPECTED DANGEROUS CONDITIONS. *TR
I AM OWING A 2004 NISSAN MURANO WITH 100125 MILES ON IT. 2 DAYS BACK WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, THE SUV SUDDENLY LOST IT'S ACCELERATION POWER AND NOW WHEN EVER I TRY TO APPLY THE ACCELERATION AFTER STAND STILL, THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE FOR 5 SECONDS AND THEN SUDDENLY MOVES FORWARD. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD AS IT COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS ON HIGHWAYS AND I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE LUCKY THAT I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. I HAVE READ LOT OF FORUMS WHERE MANY NISSAN MURANO CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY ARE SAYING THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH NISSAN'S TRANSMISSION. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VISOR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THE VISOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A SNAP AND NOTICED THAT THE SEAT WAS LEANING BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP BUT HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE DRIVERS SEAT SUDDENLY COLLAPSED TO THE LEFT. LUCKILY I WAS ON A SIDE STREET GOING SLOW AND WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE CAR. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND THE ANCHOR BRACKET UNDER THE SEAT HAS BROKEN OFF THE HINGE. THE COST OF REPAIR WILL BE APPROX. $1000.00! IT IS NOT A WARRANTY PART. AFTER INVESTIGATING THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER MURANO OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IN ADDITION YOUR WEBSITE STATES IT WAS INVESTIGATED AND CLOSED. HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE, IF I WAS ON THE PARKWAY DRIVING 55 MPH AND MY SEAT COLLAPSED I DO NOT KNOW WHAT COULD OF HAPPENED. DO WE HAVE TO WAIT TILL SOMEONE IS KILLED BEFORE THIS IS INVESTIGATED BETTER AND TAKEN CARE OF! I DO NOT SEE ANY OTHER RECORDS OF DRIVERS SEATS BREAKING LIKE THIS IN CARS THAT ARE 4-5 YEARS OLD. *TR

ORIGINALLY FILED UNDER 10284376 . THE REPLACED TRANSFER CASE HAS NOW WENT OUT AGAIN. NISSAN IS STATING THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY THE TRANSFER CASE UNLESS I INSTALL AND UPGRADED SWITCH THAT IS LOCATED ON THE CONSOLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN DEFECT AND A WAY FOR NISSAN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE. THE COMPANY NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR PRODUCTS. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO DRIVER'S SEAT HAS A BROKEN FRAME. IT LEANS TO THE LEFT AND BACK. IT RESTS AGAINST THE POST BETWEEN THE FRONT SEAT AND BACK SEAT. IT TRAPS THE SEAT BELT BETWEEN THE POST AND THE SEAT. I HAVE TO STRUGGLE TO PUT THE SEATBELT ON EVERY TIME I GET INTO THE CAR. I TOOK MY CAR TO WRIGHT'S NISSAN IN WEXFORD,PA, THE MECHANIC THERE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO GET IT FIXED IN ORDER TO PASS INSPECTION. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $850.00 FOR A NEW SEAT. I WAS ABLE TO CONTACT A PRIVATE WELDER AND HE SAID HE WOULD FIX IT FOR A FEE ALOT SMALLER THAN THE $850.00 NISSAN WANTS TO CHARGE ME. I BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THIS DEFECT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. *TR
ALL 4 "DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS" ON MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO ARE DEFECTIVE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AND MEANS THAT THE DOOR LOCK WILL RANDOMLY NOT UNLOCK OR LOCK. ONLY THE DRIVER DOOR HAS A KEY LOCK- MEANING THAT FOR EACH OTHER DOOR, THE DOORS MUST BE LOCKED FROM WITHIN IF THE LOCK ACTUATOR IS NOT WORKING OR ACTING UP. FOR EXAMPLE, IF A CAR DOOR IS NOT OPENING, AND YOU UNLOCK IT FROM WITHIN THE CAR, THEN CLOSE THE DOOR, AND PRESS "LOCK" ON YOUR KEY-CHAIN, THAT CAR DOOR WILL STILL HAVE NOT LOCKED. THE CAR DOOR LOCK STOPS RESPONDING, AND CAN ONLY BE DONE MANUALLY INTERNALLY. I SPOKE TO NISSAN A YEAR AGO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY INDICATED THAT EACH DOOR WOULD BE $400 TO FIX, MEANING $1600 ALTOGETHER. RESEARCH HAS INDICATED TO ME THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON NISSAN PROBLEM AND THAT NONE OF THE DEALERSHIPS ARE DOING ANYTHING TO HELP THE CONSUMER- OTHER THAN INDICATING THE LARGE PRICE TAG. THIS ISSUE DIRECTLY AFFECTS THE SAFETY OF THE PRODUCT- BECAUSE IT BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHETHER THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY LOCKED, UNLESS THE OWNER PHYSICALLY WALKS AROUND THE CAR AND CHECKS EACH DOOR- AND THEN LOCKS THE DOOR MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE. *TR
THE SEAT ON MY 2004 MURANO BROKE SUDDENLY WHILE I WAS TURNING RIGHT. IT BROKE SO SUDDENLY I HIT MY HEAD AGAINST THE DRIVE WINDOW AND SWERVED OVER THE MEDIAN ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER CAR. I READ SEVERAL HUNDRED POSTINGS REGARDING THE SAME SEAT WELD ISSUE ON THIS CAR.. NISSAN NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
MY MURANO SUDDENLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE SAME EXACT DESCRIPTION OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR. I HAD TO TOW TO DEALER AND LUCKILY I STILL WAS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY SO IT WAS MOSTLY COVERED. CALLED NISSAN THIS MORNING AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED FOR MY VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006. OBVIOUSLY THEY DIDN'T LEARN FROM THEIR ORIGINAL MISTAKE. THEY SHOULD BE DOING REPAIR AGAIN FOR FREE AND PAYING FOR THE BATTERY THAT GOT FRIED IN THE PROCESS. *TR
GEAR ON THE RIGHT TRACK OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT STOPPED WORKING SO DRIVER'S SEAT ROTATES INSTEAD OF MOVING FORWARD. *TR

THE CAR WORKED FINE THEN WHEN I GOT BACK IN IT TO GO HOME IT STARTED FINE AND THEN WHEN YOU PUT IT INTO GEAR IT KILLS THE ENGINE. I OWN A WELL MAINTAINED 2004 NISSAN MURANO SL AWD. THE TRANSFER CASE SPONTANEOUSLY BROKE WITHOUT ANY WARNING. ONCE THE EVENT OCCURRED, I IMMEDIATELY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE ON A VERY BUSY STRETCH OF ROAD. THE ARE ALSO, ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, WENT FROM ABOUT 40MPH TO 15MPH WHILE I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THERE WAS TRAFFIC BEHIND ME MOVING AT 40MPH, AND THIS UNINTENTIONAL DECELERATION OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY BRAKE LIGHT WARNING TO THE DRIVER BEHIND ME. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL COLLISION. THANKFULLY IT DID NOT, AND I WAS ABLE TO PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND ROLL TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER LANE. I HAD THE CAR BROUGHT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP FOR PROMPT REPAIR. I PAID $3500 FOR A NEW TRANSFER CASE TO BE PLACED. THE DAY I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME, I NOTICED AN OIL BURNING SMELL, WHICH WAS LATER FOUND TO BE A TRANSFER CASE LEAK. THIS WAS A LEAK FROM THE NEW TRANSFER CASE. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING RE-REPAIRED AS WE SPEAK. THIS IS ALMOST 2 WEEKS NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN MURANO PARTICULARLY IN THE 2003-04 YEAR VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE 5 YEAR/ 60000 MILE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY, AND THEREFORE I HAD TO BEAR THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF THIS APPARENTLY DEFECTIVE COMPONENT. *TR

FROM THE FORUMS I HAVE VISITED, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MURANO VEHICLES. IT STARTED ALMOST A YEAR AGO. AT THAT TIME I USED TO BE ABLE TO PUT IT UP IN POSITION AND IT WOULD STAY UP FOR A WHILE, BUT NOW THE COGNITION HAS WORSENED. NOW NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY, THE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT STAY IN PLACE AND KEEP ON DROPPING INTO MY EYES. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT A REPUTED CAR MANUFACTURER LIKE NISSAN CAN BUILD SUCH AN INFERIOR PRODUCT. IN MY MIND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND GOVERNMENT SHOULD ASK NISSAN TO STAND UP TO THEIR PRODUCT AND ISSUE A RECALL. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH THIS CAR. OTHER PROBLEMS ARE: 1. DRIVER SIDE POWER SEAT DOES NOT FUNCTION BECAUSE SOME PART IS BROKEN, BUT BECAUSE OF THIS, I NEED TO REPLACE ENTIRE MECHANISM. 2. GAS CAP COVER DOES NOT OPEN. I HAD TO SPEND $400 TO GET IT FIXED. 3. THERE IS SOME ENGINE COMPONENT THAT MAKES INTERNAL NOISE THAT COULD MAKE MY VEHICLE STOP WHILE DIVING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS COSTS $4,500. 2004 NISSAN MURANO SL DOORLOCKS HAVE STOPPED RESPONDING. IT STARTED WITH THE PASSENGER DOOR AND THEN, A COUPLE WEEKS LATER THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR. *TR WE HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF A DOOR BEING EITHER LOCKED OR UNLOCKED AT THE WRONG TIME IS A DANGEROUS ONE.

THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE A SECOND TIME AND WAS UNABLE TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS. ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE, THE DEALER ASKED THE CONTACT TO DRIVE INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THEY WERE STILL UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE IS RELATED TO A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 140,000.

I CONTACTED NISSAN CORPORATE THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME A WEEK LATER THEY ONLY OFFERED THE RESPONSE "WE CAN'T HELP YOU FINANCIALLY AT THIS TIME" AFTER VIEWING POSTS ONLINE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN 2003 AND 2004 MODELS. THANK GOODNESS MY HUSBAND WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE MURANO DECIDED TO DIE. HE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. EARLIER THE CAR HAD AN OIL LEAK I TOOK IT TO SEVERAL MECHANICS UNTIL IT WAS FIXED. I BOUGHT A NEW 2004 NISSAN MURANO SL AWD FROM THE DEALERSHIP. BY OCTOBER 2004, I HAD TO GET THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS LOOSE AND ROCKED BACK AND FORTH. NOW IN JUNE 2009, THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED BUT MUCH MORE SEVERELY, AND SINCE I AM NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, THE DEALER WANTS $1100 TO REPLACE IT. THERE ARE TWO SERVICE BULLETINS FROM NISSAN ON THIS: NTB03-095 AND NTB05-043C. NISSAN EVEN CHANGED THE PART NUMBER INDICATING OR SUGGESTING A DESIGN/MANUFACTURING ISSUE/DEFECT.
