WITHOUT WARNING BRKE PEDAL BEGAN TO FADE. NO LEAKS, NO WARNING LIGHTS NOTED. DEALER QUOTES PARTS AT $1995 AND LABOR OF $400 PLUS TO REPAIR IN CONJUNCTION WITH PADS AND TURNED ROTORS TOTAL $3,200. NOTE - THIS CORRESPONDS TO ISSUES WITH THE 2009 AND 2015-2017 RECALLED MURANOS FOR THE SAMED USSUES EST MILAEGE 90K
I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY WHEN A CAR ABRUPTLY PULLED IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD STEP ON THE BRAKES WITH GREAT FORCE TO STOP IN TIME WITHOUT CRASHING. IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS WHEN I HAD TO USE THE BRAKES AGAIN AT A RED LIGHT, I HAD TO PUSH DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR. THE BRAKES FELT SPONGEY AND PROVIDED ALMOST NO RESISTANCE TO MY FOOT AS I PRESSED DOWN. THE ISSUE PERSISTED FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THEY TRIED SEVERAL OF THE STANDARD FIXES WHEN THIS TYPE OF BRAKE ISSUE ARISES, INCLUDING GOING AS FAR AS TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER, WHICH DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE BRAKE ISSUE ONLY WAS RESOLVED ONCE THEY PUT THE CAR IN THE AIR, ACCELERATED, AND PUMPED THE BRAKES MULTIPLE TIMES WHICH EVENTUALLY, SOMEHOW BROUGHT THE BRAKES BACK TO NORMAL CAPACITY. THE MECHANIC SAYS HE HAS SEEN THIS ISSUE IN MANY NISSAN MURANOS AND HE SPECULATES THAT THE THESE MODELS HAVE A FAULTY ABS SENSOR MODULE WHICH CAUSES THE BRAKES TO LOCK UP IF USED TOO HARD. I'VE HAD THIS ISSUE 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS, THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THE BRAKES HAD STAYED UNUSABLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS, POSING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE READ ONLINE ON MANY WEBSITES AND HAVE READ THIS SAME ISSUE BEING HAD BY OTHER 2011 NISSAN MURANO OWNERS. THE ABS SENSOR MODULE CAN COST UP TO $2,000 JUST FOR THE PART ITSELF. WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS, NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE'S BRAKES GO OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AND CAUSE A LOSS OF LIFE.
2011 NISSAN MURANO, 85000 MILES, ALL MAINTENANCE DONE ON TIME. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT LOW SPEEDS STARTED TO HEAR A CLUNKING NOISE. THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HWY TAKING MY CAR INTO THE SHOP WHEN IT STARTED JUMPING RPMS AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GET KILLED WHILE TRYING TO PULL OF THE ROAD. AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT AT 30MPH TO THE CLOSEST CAR DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILING TRANSMISSION. I STILL OWE ON THE CAR AND AM BEYOND UPSET THAT AFTER CALLING NISSAN THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING . NOW MY CAR SITS TILL I FIND A WAY TO COME UP WITH THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS I HAVE TO PAY TO GET MY CAR BACK ON THE ROAD. NISSAN SHOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE 2011 JUST LIKE THEY DID ON THE PREVIOUS YEARS.
MY CVT TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO HAVE A SEAL LEAK AT 140,000 MILES CAUSING A LOUD SQUEAL WHILE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID BUILT UP PRESSURE. THIS CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED. IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT NISSAN DOESN'T PROVIDE REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THEIR TRANSMISSIONS. IT'S A SEALED UNIT SO YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION FOR $3500 TO $4800. ONLY GOT $2K ON TRADE IN FOR A NEW VEHICLE. I HOPE NISSAN RECALLS THE TRANSMISSION SO OTHERS WON'T LOSE MONEY ON THIS COSTLY REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR AT LEAST TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,499.
COINCIDENTALLY WE JUST PAID OFF OUR VEHICLE A FEW MONTHS AGO. OUR 2011 NISSAN MURANO HAS 103, 000 MILES. ABOUT A MONTH AGO MY WIFE MENTIONED THAT THE CAR WAS HESITATING WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO PROCEED FORWARD FROM A STOPPED POSITION. ( THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD AT INTERSECTIONS AND ANY STOPPED POSITIONS TO PROCEED FORWARD). THE ENGINE WOULD JUST CUT OUT AND THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS WOULD PICK BACK UP IN RPMS. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FUEL FILTER PROBLEM SO WE SENT IT TO OUR MECHANIC. HE CAME BACK TO US AND SAID ITS THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND IT COULD COST ANYWHERE FROM $3500 - $5000. SOMETHING WE DID NOT WANT HEAR WITH A VEHICLE WITH JUST A HUNDRED THOUSAND MILES ON IT. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH WE SEE THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN CVT. I REALLY NEED SOME ASSISTANCE ON HOW TO GO ABOUT CONTACTING NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY WILL WARRANT THIS PROBLEM.
I HAVE A 2011 NISSAN MURANO SL 2WD AND AM STARTING TO HAVE ACCELERATING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE SPECIALLY DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.THE SYMPTOMS ARE WHEN THE VEHICLE WARMS UP AND AM TRYING TO ACCELERATE IT JUST REFUSES TO MOVE FIR ABOUT 3-4 SECONDS THE RPM WILL NOT INCREASE AND THE VEHICLE WILL BARELY MOVE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT SEEMS TO ENGAGE AND LURCH FORWARD.ONE TIME I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO SURFACE STREET TRAFFIC FROM A FREEWAY EXIT .I HAD AMPLE SPACE BETWEEN ME ANOTHER VEHICLE AS I TRIED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC BUT MY VEHICLE WAS JUST CRAWLING SLOWLY FORWARD BY WHICH TIME THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS ALMOST ON TOP OF ME HONKING AND I WAS BEING CUSSED AT AND ALL FOR A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE DECIDED TO MOVE AND I HAD TO SWERVE RIGHT ON THE SIDE WALK TO PREVENT GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND.I TALKED TO THE DEALER ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID THE PROBLEM IS THE CVT TRANSMISSION BUT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL BUT EARLIER MODELS HAVE A RECALL WITH SAME ISSUES BUT I THINK IT SHOULD BE SPECIALLY IF THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL START ACTING UP .I HAVE REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH SENSOR AND CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT LIGHT, WHEN I PUSHED ON THE BREAK TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND CAR WILL NOT STOP. AFTER PUMPING THE BREAK SEVERAL TIMES THE CAR WILL EVENTUALLY STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND OTHER CAR SHOPS AND THEY SEE NO VISIBLE EVIDENCE OF ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL. I'M AT A LOSS AND MY WIFE AND MYSELF ARE TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE.
WITHOUT WARNING, BRAKES BEGIN TO FEEL SPONGY, HAVE TO PRESS BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST TO FLOOR BEFORE RESPONSE. SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS NOW AS A RESULT OF INTERMITTENT CHANGED BRAKING PERFORMANCE. AS A RESULT, HAD BRAKES CHECKED, FLUID DRAINED, MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED, BRAKE LINES DRAINED, NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE. NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING CAR, FEELS UNSAFE.
MY VEHICLE'S DOOR LOCK WILL NOT UNLOCK MANUALLY. IF THE AUTO LOCKS STOP WORKING THIS SHOULDN'T STOP ME FROM UNLOCKING MY VEHICLE MANUALLY. MY ORIGINAL INCIDENT WITH THIS ISSUE WAS WITH ME IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS STUCK IN MY TRUCK. I HAD TO CLIMB OVER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND GET OUT THAT WAY. MY SECOND INCIDENT WITH THIS WAS ALL OF MY LOCKS DIDN'T WORK WITH THE FOB OR WITH MY KEY (MANNUALLY). THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT INSIDE THIS TIME. I HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. DURING ALL OF THESE INCIDENTS, MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM CRASHING INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANDERSON NISSAN (6555 E STATE ST, ROCKFORD, IL 61108), WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND PRODUCE VERY LITTLE BRAKING ABILITY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS EVASIVE ACTION HAD TO BE TAKEN TO AVOID COLLISION. HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AS WELL AS ON A HIGHWAY. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO CORRECT ITS SELF AFTER VEHICLE IS PARKED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHTS/ CODES PRESENT. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SPORADICALLY ABSENT OF ANY FORE WARNING AND PRESENTS THE POSSIBILITY OF ACCIDENTAL COLLISION. THIS SAME CONDITION HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THE SAME MODEL OVER SEVERAL MANUFACTURE YEARS AND ALTHOUGH INDICATIONS ARE THE THE SAME ABS CONTROL MODULE HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE AT ISSUE ONLY THE 2009 YEAR WAS ISSUED A SERVICE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT, ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF HER. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT HAD TO SWERVE AROUND THE OTHER VEHICLE TO AVOID A CRASH. WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY, THE CONTACT QUICKLY TURNED INTO A PARKING SPACE AND SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO PARK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. FOUR DAYS LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARDINALE NISSAN (1661 DEL MONTE BLVD, SEASIDE, CA 93955, (831) 322-4115) TO BE TEST DRIVEN AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ANTILOCK BRAKE AND MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,167.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP FROM AN APPROXIMATE 30 MILES PER HOUR SPEED, THE BRAKE PETAL TRAVELLED NEARLY ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE VEHICLE DID EVENTUALLY SLOW TO A STOP BUT NOT UNTIL I NEARLY STRUCK THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER THAT, THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO CHECKED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND DETERMINED THE THE PROBLEM WAS A DEFECTIVE ABS CONTROL MODULE. I HAVE SEEN RECALLS FOR DEFECTIVE ABS ON MURANO MODEL YEARS UP TO 2009 AND THEN AGAIN AFTER 2015. HOWEVER, MY 2011 MODEL YEAR FALLS IN THE "RECALL GAP" AND IS NOT COVERED. ALTHOUGH ABS PROBLEMS FOR THE 2011 MURANO ARE DOCUMENTED ON MULTIPLE INTERNET WEBSITES, NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED AN ADDITIONAL RECALL COVERING THE OTHER MODEL YEARS SUCH AS MINE. SO THE EXPENSIVE REPAIR COSTS AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES FALL UPON THE UNSUSPECTING OWNERS OF THE DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. NISSAN SHOULD IMMEDIATELY ISSUE A RECALL AND GET THE DANGEROUS CONDITION REPAIRED BEFORE OTHERS FIND THEMSELVES WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO SAFELY STOP THEIR CARS.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE I HEARD A LOUD SOUND LIKE A GUNSHOT. THERE WEREN'T ANY CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND I DIDN'T JUST GO UNDER AN OVERPASS. UPON INSPECTION I DISCOVERED THAT MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED AND NO FOREIGN OBJECTS WERE VISIBLE THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED IT. SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND TRIED USING MY BRAKES I CONTINUALLY HAD TO DEPRESS MY BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET THEM TO START WORKING. ONCE I REACHED STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY I CONTINUED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHERE TAPPING OR USING THE BRAKE PEDAL AS NORMAL DID NOT SLOW MY CAR DOWN AND I HAD TO KEEP PUSHING IT TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO KEEP FROM RUNNING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I BROUGHT THIS TO MY NORMAL MECHANIC WHO DRAINED BRAKE FLUID, CHECKED PADS, AND TESTED ALL CALIPERS WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY FELT IT WAS THE ABS ACTUATOR THAT WAS THE PROBLEM AND RECOMMENDED I GO TO A DEALERSHIP. AT THE DEALERSHIP I RELAYED THIS INFORMATION AND THEY BEGAN LOOKING AT THE CAR. THEIR DIAGNOSIS IS THAT THE ACTUATOR ALLOWED AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE AND THAT AIR KEPT MY BRAKES FROM WORKING. SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG NISSAN MURANO'S.
CAMSHAFT POSITION 'A' - TIMING OVER - ADVANCED OR SYSTEM PERFORMANCE (BANKS 1 & 2). THIRD TIME IN AS MANY MONTHS; TWO REPAIRS MADE, THIRD TIME REQUIRED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON REGULARLY.
I NOTICED MY NISSAN MURANO LOSING ACCELERATION WHEN TAKING OFF. WHEN IT FINALLY CATCHES UP IT RIDES FINE. THAT IS SO DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY LIVING IN THE CITY WITH FREEWAYS AND TRAFFIC! ALSO MY AIR IS NOT WORKING. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER, AIR COMPRESSOR WAS FINE, THEY RECHARGED THE SYSTEM WITH FREON AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK. I NEED SOME KIND OF RELAY SWITCH FOR $500. I FEEL LIKE I'M PAYING FOR A LEMON AT 85,000 MILES!
VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHOW LOSS OF POWER IN 2019 WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ENTERING.A HIGHWAY. VEHICLE ALSO WOULD JERK WHEN POSITIONED FROM PARK TO REVERSE. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN COMING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GIVE MORE POWER, ASNIF IT WAS STALLED I PARKED THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FEAR OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.AND BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED.
CABRIOLET SOFT TOP , THE TOP WOULD NOT CLOSE . THE CAR HAS 20K MILES AND I SEE ON THE INTERNET A LOTS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. DEALER WANT TO CHANGE THE TOP FOR 11K$ AND NOT FIX THE PART THAT IS THE DEFECT
ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 NISSAN MURANO AND AFTER DRIVING OVER A SLIGHT BUMP ON A CITY STREET IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD GOING ABOUT 10 MPH MAYBE A LITTLE MORE I WAS IN THE PROCESS SLOWING DOWN AND MAKING A U TURN RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE SO I COULD PARK IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE (THANK GOD!) MY BRAKES FAILED THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR VERY SUDDENLY AND AFTER RE-PUMPING BRAKES, I GOT CONTROL AND WAS ABLE TO PARK MY MURANO. WTH IS GOING ON NISSAN?? THIS WAS SCARY AND I DON'T WISH ON THIS ON ANYONE. MY KIDS DRIVE THIS CAR TOO. DOES SOMEBODY HAVE TO BE KILLED IN ORDER TO GET ATTENTION ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE NISSAN? THIS NEEDS TO PRO-ACTIVE NOT RE-ACTIVE. WE BUY AND DRIVE YOUR CARS TO FEEL SAFE NOT BE SCARED I'M GONNA HIT A SMALL BUMP AND LOSE MY BRAKES. AFTER PARKING I CHECKED MY MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BRAKE FLUID LOOKED FINE AND FULL. I HAD NO LEAKS. I AM IN ABSOLUTE AWW! AT WHAT JUST HAPPENED. CVT TRANSMISSION STARTED MAKING NOISES AT 90K ON DAUGHTER S 2011 NISSAN MURANO. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL NISSAN IS SCAMMING EVERYONE WITH ALL THESE 5K SHOP REPAIR BILLS. GOING APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MPH ON THE FIRST OCCASION JUST ROLLING OVER RR TRACKS AND THEN GOING 5 MPH OFF AN EXIT RAMP OVER A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE BRAKES FAILED/WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR ON BOTH OCCASIONS. BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF 2011 BRAKES ISSUES I HAVE READ ABOUT ONLINE TONIGHT REGARDING THE SAME GOING OVER BUMPS/BUMP/BRAKES FAILING ISSUE, I CANNOT BELIEVE THE 2011S HAVE NOT BEEN ADDED TO THE RECALL. I EITHER EXPECT ADDING 2011S TO THE RECALL AS THE 2009'S GOT LAST MONTH OR I NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO TAKE MY CAR TO BE REPAIRED AT NO CHARGE. VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WHILE TOP IS STUCK AND DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT IS BEEPING NOTIFYING TOP IS NOT SECURED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND TO PLACE OF PURCHASE (CARMAX). AND IS CURRENTLY AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP NOW AND HAS BEEN THERE SINCE 4/25/19. AS OF TODAY 6/5/19 THEY HAVE STATED THEIR FINAL ANALYSIS DETERMINES THE WIRE CONVERTIBLE TOP WIRE HARNESS NEEDS REPLACING BECAUSE AFTER MULTIPLE ANALYSIS THEY HAVE DETERMINED THE WIRE HARNESS CAN'T BE REPAIRED AND THAT THE WARRANTY COMPANY IS DECLINING THIS ELECTRICAL REPLACEMENT. THE TOP HAS RANDOMLY GOTTEN STUCK NUMEROUS AND UNPREDICTABLE TIMES, WHETHER AT HOME, AT WORK, A PUBLIC PARKING LOT, AT THE GROCERY STORE, AT A STOP LIGHT, ETC., AND I CAN'T CONTINUE TO SAFELY DRIVE THE CAR WHEN IT MALFUNCTIONS. SO I'M NOT ABLE TO SAFELY AND CONFIDENTLY USE IT. HELP ME PLEASE.
VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. WHEN BRAKING OVER A BUMP, BRAKE PEDAL DROPS TO THE FLOOR, VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP. BRAKE MALFUNCTION - UNSAFE CONDITION.IT HAPPENED TWICE IN A MONTH. INDEPENDENT SHOP STATED TO REPLACE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE'S HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. NISSAN WILL NOT SELL THE PART. BROUGHT TO NISSAN DEALER TO CHECK AND STATED IT IS NORMAL. NISSAN FOUND EVERYTHING OPERATING NORMALLY AND CHARGED $ 210.00 FOR THE INSPECTION.
VEHICLE HAS ONLY 63,400 MILES ON IT. MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON AND ON THE WAY TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE CODE CHECKED THE CAR JUST STOPPED DRIVING. I WAS STOPPED FOR A LIGHT AND WHEN I WENT TO GO NOTHING HAPPENED. TOWED IT TO NISSAN AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. (USED) TRANSMISSION INSTALLED AND THEN THE CAR STALLED AGAIN DURING THE TEST DRIVE BY MECHANIC. NOW THEY SAY THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE STARTER, WHICH I DID, SO THEY CAN RECHECK THE TRANSMISSION. GOT THE CAR BACK AND THE VERY NEXT DAY THE SAME LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO DEALER AND NOW THEY SAY THAT IT NEEDS CATALYTIC CONVERTER. REPLACED AND NOW THEY SAY THAT IT NEEDS THE FRONT CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION SEAL WHEN THEY GOT IT. PROBABLY WHAT IS CAUSING ALL THESE OTHER PROBLEMS. STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHEN I WILL GET THE CAR BACK. IT HAS BEEN A MONTH NOW. HAVE TOTALLY LOST FAITH IN NISSAN.

MATTER OF FACT I JUST HAD MY CAR SERVICED ON JULY 13,2018, AT NALLEY NISSAN OF ATLANTA AND THE MIL-POINT INSPECTION WHICH INCLUDES CHECKING THE TRANSMISSION PASS ALL SYSTEMS IN THE GREEN. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TRANSMISSION ON THE VEHICLE INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION IN 6 YEARS AND ONLY 122000 MILES.

NOTING THAT THE FAILING PART NUMBER FOR THE 2009 YEAR WAS "47660 1SW0A" AND FOUND TO BE IDENTICAL TO THE 2011 YEAR. MY VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 97K MILES. WHY IS THE RECALL LIMITED TO THE 2009 AND NOT INCLUDING THE 2011?
TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN OF SILSBEE WHERE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT FOR SERVICE -- SERVICE PERSON CAME TO ME AND SAID THAT SHE HAD BAD NEWS -- VEHICLE HAD A REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK. FIRST TIME EVER, I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE TRANSMISSION CONCERN TO HAVE THEM GIVE ME A SECOND OPINION AND THEY SAID IT WAS LEAKING BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND 4-WHEEL DRIVE. THEY PULLED THE TRANSMISSION AND FOUND THAT FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS WEREN'T UP TO DATE. THE VEHICLE HAD ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED BY SILSBEE NISSAN AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THAT THERE WERE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. COST TO ME FOR REPAIRS WERE $5,716 WITH 90,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.
WITH ONLY 91000 MILES, MY 2011 MURANO IS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD TRANSMISSION. PREVIOUS YEARS MODELS UP TO 2010 WERE ALL EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS/120000 MILES WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THAT WAS ENDED FOR THE 2011 YEAR AND NOBODY KNOWS WHY. NISSAN KNOWS OF THE DEFECTS WITH THEIR TRANSMISSIONS, BUT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. THIS REPAIR WILL COST ME CLOSE TO $5000 WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE.

THE PEDAL CONTINUES TO PUSH ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR EVEN WHEN PUMPING THE PEDAL. IT CORRECTS ON ITS OWN AFTER AN HOUR OR SO. 4 OCCASIONS OCCURRED AFTER HITTING A BUMP. 1 OCCASION OCCURRED WHEN THE ABS ENGAGED AFTER HITTING A PATCH OF ICE. THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS BEEN REPLACED (I SAVED THE OLD ONE) AND THE BRAKE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. IT HAS ONLY OCCURRED ABOUT 5 TIMES OVER A SPAN OF ABOUT 1YEAR SO IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO INTENTIONALLY REPEAT AND DIAGNOSE. AFTER LIVING WITH THE FAULTY SENSOR FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS, IT'S TIME TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. I HOPED FOR A RECALL TO BE ISSUED BUT NOTHING YET. TO TRADE IN OR SELL THIS VEHICLE, IT'S OBVIOUS DUE TO WARNING LIGHT ON DASH THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH AIRBAGS. I NEED TO DISCOUNT MY VEHICLE VALUE OR REPAIR THIS. IT IS THE ENTIRE PASSENGER BOTTOM SEAT AND COSTS $3700 OR MORE PLUS LABOR=OVER $5000 TO FIX. EVEN IF I COULD AFFORD TO FIX THIS ISSUE, THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE IN THE USA ACCORDING TO SUTHERLIN NISSAN OF FT. PIERCE FL. THERE IS AN APPARENT BACK ORDER WITH NO PARTS AVAILABILITY. TO CORRECT A SEEMINGLY SIMILAR PART ON A 2015 MURANO MIGHT REQUIRE 2 PARTS TOTALLING PERHAPS $340 AND APPROPRIATE LABOR THIS TOTAL SHOULD BE SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE QUOTE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. AN ONLINE SEARCH OF SUGGESTED NISSAN MURANO REPAIRS FOR THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR WAS ABOUT $300, QUITE A CONTRAST TO MY ANTICIPATED REPAIR EXPENSE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR MURANOS AND PREVIOUS MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS. I BOUGHT A NISSAN CERTIFIED USED CAR, THEN ADDED A GOLD LEVEL SERVICE PLAN TO COVER BUMPER TO BUMPER AND YET THE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS ARE SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED. THIS IS A REQUIRED SAFETY DEVICE. ITS FAILURE HAS MADE MY VEHICLE WORTHLESS, BASED ON POTENTIAL TRADE OFFERS. I ASSUME NISSAN USA LOST LOTS OF MONEY ON THE PREVIOUS SENSOR RECALL CAMPAIGN, AND NOW THEY HOPE TO RECOVER SOME OF THOSE LOSSES BY PASSING THAT EXPENSE ON UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS. I THINK NISSAN USA REALIZES THIS AS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND ARE ATTEMPTING TO CONCEAL THIS FAULT.
TRANSFEE CASE LEAK NOTED DURING 60K MILES. SUBURBAN NISSAN OF MI NEVER TOOK THE INITIATIVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE. NISSAN REPLACED THE SEALS ONLY BASED ON MY COMPLAINT. THE LEAK OCCURRED AGAIN IN TRANSFER CASE AT 126K MILES. NOW THE DEALER IS RECOMMENDING THE REPLACEMENT OF SEALS ONLY. NISSAN REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE ISSUE WITH THEIR GARBAGE DESIGN.

AS THE PASSENGER IN THE MURANO I FELT THE FIRST HARD IMPACT AGAINST THE DOOR LIKE A BOMB WENT OFF YET SIDE DOOR AIRBAG DID NOT IMPLODE. I HAVE PICTURES THAT SHOW CREASE MADE AT FIRST IMPACT AND DOOR BOTTOM PANEL WAS BENT OUTWARD. I CALLED NISSAN AND REPORTED THIS BOTH TO DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER. THEY ARE SAYING THIS IS A SIDE SWIPE AND THEREFORE DOES NOT REQUIRE IMPLOSION. ONLY WITNESS IS OTHER DRIVER WHO ADMITTED FAULT, MAY ALSO BE HONEST ABOUT HOW WE WERE FIRST HIT. I HAVE A VERY HEAVY SUV DOOR ON THIS CAR AND ALWAYS SAID IT WAS A TANK AND WOULD SAVE OUR LIVES. I BELIEVE IT WAS MORE THE DOOR DESIGN THAT SAVED US , AND MY HUSBAND'S EFFECTIVE MANEUVERING, THAN AN AIRBAG THAT SHOULD HAVE IMPLODED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE DIAGNOSTIC MODULE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE PURCHASED A NISSAN GOLD STANDARD WARRANTY AND WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED IN REGARDS TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS PURCHASED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.
ONCE THE VEHICLE STARTS MOVING BY TAKING OFF VERY SLOW; IT DRIVES VERY WELL. HOWEVER, AFTER YOU COME TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND IT IS YOUR TIME TO GO, THE VEHICLE TAKES OFF , STOPS ABRUPTLY (ALTHOUGH YOU ARE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AGGRESSIVELY); THEN DEPENDING ON HOW FAR DOWN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE WILL TAKE OFF AND DRIVE FINE UNTIL YOU COME TO ANOTHER STOP. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR A FEW MONTHS UNTIL THE PRESENT. MY RESEARCH HAS NOT SHOWN ANY RECALLS ON THE TRANSMISSION OR THE COMPUTER.
THE CVT TRANSMISSION WENT AFTER ONLY 85000 MILES . CAR HESITATES AT STOP SIGNS AND RED LIGHTS
AT APPROXIMATELY 8:30 AM ON 12/18/17, I WAS DRIVING ON I-70 IN DENVER, CO, GOING ABOUT 60 MPH. WEATHER WAS A PARTLY CLOUDY DAY, 45-50 DEGREES, ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY. AS I WAS DRIVING, I SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD POP OR EXPLOSION, LOOKED IN REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW GLASS FLYING BEHIND ME, COMING FROM MY CAR. I SLOWED DOWN IMMEDIATELY AND EXITED THE HIGHLY, PULLING INTO A GAS STATION TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I EXITED THE CAR AND LOOKED FROM THE OUTSIDE AND THE SUNROOF HAD COMPLETED SHATTERED, LEAVING A HUGE HOLE. FORTUNATELY, THE INSIDE SHADE WAS CLOSED SO ALL THE GLASS BLEW OUT OF THE CAR AND NOT INTO THE INTERIOR. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED, NOR WAS THE POLICE CONTACTED. I HAD THE SUNROOF REPLACED AT SAFELITE AUTOGLASS FOR A COST OF $885.03. AFTER THE REPAIR, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE INTERIOR SHADE WOULD NOT OPEN COMPLETELY AND SEEMED TO BE OFF TRACK AND THE MANAGER AT SAFELITE SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANISSAN DEALER, WHO CHARGED $99.95 JUST TO LOOK AT AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITH THE SHADE. DIAGNOSIS WAS THE SHATTERED GLASS HAD DAMAGED THE TRACK AND SHADE AND BOTH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $1600.00 (MORE DETAILED DIAGNOSIS COULD BE PROVIDED AFTER REMOVING THE HEADLINER). WE DECLINED THIS REPAIR AT THIS TIME. SO FAR WE HAVE PAID OUT-OF-POCKET FOR THE REPAIRS AT A TOTAL OF APPROXIMATELY $985. IF WE CHOOSE TO REPAIR THE SHADE AND TRACK, TOTAL COST ESTIMATES WOULD BE $2,584.
AFTER THE TRANSMISSION HAS WARMED UP, IF I COME TO A STOP, THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE FOR THE FIRST 15 SEC REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR OR NUMBER OF TIMES I PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN IT DOES FINALLY GO, I TAKE OFF WAY TOO FAST-LIKELY DUE TO LAYING ON THE ACCELERATOR WANTING MY CAR TO GO. THIS PROBLEMS IS DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN AT STOP SIGNS, CITY LIGHTS, AND HIGHWAY EXIT RAMPS.
TRANSMISSION STEPPING MOTOR - PER THE CHECK ENGINE CODE AT NO PARTICULAR SPEED, GEARS SLIPPING, POPPING INTO GEAR, NO ACCELERATION FROM FROM STOP. SEEMS TO GET WORSE THE FURTHER THE DRIVE.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I WENT OVER A SPEED BUMP AND MY BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. I WAS NOT GOING FAST AT THE TIME THIS OCCURRED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW, AND I WAS TOLD THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW I AM OUT A VEHICLE UNTIL I CAN PAY $1300 TO GET IT REPLACED. MY WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED AND NOW I AM SCREWED. MY BRAKES ARE STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND DID NOT GO BACK TO NORMAL.
