TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY, AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION WAS FELT, AND THE BRAKING WAS UNSTABLE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED WITH NO WARNING. THE DEALER (GRANITE NISSAN, 2626 E MALL DR, RAPID CITY, SD 57701, (605) 342-3400) TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURES. THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND SUGGESTED TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
CRUISE CONTROL KICKS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSES DECELERATION. WILL NOT COME BACK ON UNTIL THE CAR IS STOPPED, TURNED OFF, THEN TURNED BACK ON. WET WEATHER MAKES IT A LOT WORSE. HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. WILL KICK OFF AT LEAST TWICE WITHIN AN HOUR DRIVE TYPICALLY. UNACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED
NISSAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ISSUE WITH ILLUMINATING LIGHTS AROUND THE RADIO AND A/C. *LD *JS
AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES AT LOW SPEEDS ON LOCAL CITY ROADS, I COULD SOMETIMES FEEL VIBRATIONS AND A LACK OF ACCELERATION THAT FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION COULDN'T DECIDE WHAT TO DO. ALWAYS AT SPEEDS UNDER 20 MPH AND GENERALLY WHEN EITHER SLOWING DOWN FOR AN INTERSECTION OR STARTING TO SPEED UP WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED GREEN IN TIME THAT I DIDN'T NEED TO FULLY STOP. AFTER A FEW OF THESE I TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID THERE HAD BEEN NO ERROR CODES GENERATED AND TO JUST KEEP DRIVING IT. AFTER THE SECOND OR THIRD TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, NOW WITH 12,839 MILES ON IT THEY REPROGRAMMED THE STEERING ANGLE ADJUSTMENT AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY. HOWEVER, NOW AT 21,000 MILES, IT SEEMS TO BE COMING BACK AGAIN. I FEEL LIKE THE CVT AND COMPUTER HAVE A PROBLEM COMMUNICATING WITH EACH OTHER IN THESE LOW-SPEED SITUATIONS. THIS HESITATION IN ACCELERATION COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND CERTAINLY FEELS UNSAFE.
MY VEHICLE RECENTLY BEGAN DISPLAYING A WARNING THAT THE ANTI-COLLISION SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONAL AND I NOTICED THIS ALSO DISABLED AND DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL RESULTING IN SUDDEN DECELERATION . THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO RESET WHEN CAR IS STARTED AND REOCCURS AFTER 10 TO 15 MINUTES DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT, AND PAID FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO SOURCE ISSUE. THE NISSAN SERVICE REP TOLD ME THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT I WOULD NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX. I SEARCHED ON LINE AND ON NUMEROUS SITES FOUND IT WAS A VERY COMMON AND SERIOUS DEFECT WITH A BOSCH SUPPLIED SENSOR ON THE RADAR . THIS IS A DRIVING SAFETY FEATURE I CONSIDER ESSENTIAL TO MY PURCHASE AND WHEN SUDDENLY FAILS DISENGAGING CRUISE CONTROL PRESENTS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUES AND INSISTS I PAY A VERY LARGE REPAIR BILL TO REPAIR.
OCS IS SHOWING PASSENGER SEAT EMPTY EVEN WHEN OCCUPIED. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER FRONTAL AIR BAG MAY BE TURNED OFF AND NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THIS PROBLEM WAS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 16V-244 DATED APRIL 29, 2016.
TAKATA RECALL. WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP JUST UNDER 20 MILES PER HOUR THE TRANSMISSION GRABS AND SLOWS YOU DOWN AND THEN RELEASES. THIS CAUSES YOU TO STOP SHORT OR STOP TOO FAR AHEAD. EITHER WAY CAN BE DANGEROUS. PLEASE GIVE US A RECALL. I DON'T FEEL SAFE
At low speed car bucks After rain or during humidity’, interior lights flicker uncontrollably
PURCHASED THE MURANO 5/15/2018. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH BRAKING/ACCELERATION. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN I START TO APPLY MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN THE ENGINE SEEMS TO REV UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. THIS REQUIRES A NEED FOR ME TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP AND GET IT BACK UNDER CONTROL. THE STRANGE THING IS THAT THIS OCCURS ONLY ABOUT 1/3 OF THE TIME. HOWEVER I FEEL THIS CREATES A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD TO ME AND OTHERS AROUND ME ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER ON ON 2 OCCASIONS TO HAVE THEM CHECK THIS OUT. UNFORTUNATELY THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG BUT THE MECHANIC SAYS HE KNOWS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE HE HAS EXPERIENCED IT BEFORE WITH OTHER VEHICLES. HE ALSO SAYS THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THAT ISSUE.
MY CAR THAT HAD LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT HAS HAD TO HAVE THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM REPLACED, THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED, THE LEATHER SEATS HAVE TEARS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE REAR SEAT, THE WINDSHIELD HAS OVER A DOZEN CHIPS IN IT AND MOST RECENTLY, WHEN DRIVING, MY GAS GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY ALTHOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED IT UP LESS THAN 16 HOURS EARLIER AND HAD NOT DONE ANY DRIVING. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE GAUGE RESET ITSELF. MY CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND I'M WAITING FOR THE NEXT MAJOR THING TO HAPPEN.
WHEN BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT, BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BUT BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND VEHICLE THEN CAME TO A STOP.
MY 2015 NISSAN MURANO STARTED HAVING SOME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AT AROUND 20K MILES. ON LOW REVS SPECIALLY THE TRANSMISSION JERKS AND SHUDDERS. IT'S LIKE IT CAN'T SELECT THE PROPER GEAR AND IT'S A COUPLE GEARS UP FROM WHERE IT SHOULD BE. THE VIBRATION IS VERY ANNOYING AND POTENTIALLY UNSAFE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD FEEL THE PROBLEM, BUT THAT THERE ARE NO LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD. SUGGESTED TO KEEP DRIVING THE CAR UNTIL A SERVICE LIGHT SHOWS UP. I THINK THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I WAN TO SELL MY CAR NOW, BUT NO ONE WOULD BUY A CAR THAT SHAKES ON LOW REVS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE GUARDRAIL. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD, SHOULDER, LOWER BACK, AND NECK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT AND TWO REAR PASSENGERS SUSTAINED HEAD, SHOULDER, NECK, ARM, BACK, AND LEG INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOWING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V244000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
THE TRANSFER CASE AND AXLE SEALS ON MY 2015 NISSAN MURANO HAVE BEEN LEAKING AND THE DEALER HAS HAD THE VEHICLE THREE DIFFERENT TIMES, WITHIN THE LAST MONTH AND A HALF, FOR NUMEROUS DAYS. THERE WAS 27,091 MILES ON IT WHEN I TOOK IT IN ON 11-08-17. THE DEALER HAS PROVIDED A RENTAL EACH TIME. THE THREE DATES THE VEHICLE WENT INTO THE DEALER ARE: 11-08-17, 12-02-17 AND 12-19-17. I FILED A CASE WITH NISSAN UNDER CASE #29147756 AND GAVE THEM A COPY OF THE TITLE SHOWING THAT IT WAS PURCHASED THROUGH MY FAMILY'S BUSINESS, BURKINS & FOLEY. I WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A COPY IF NEEDED.
ON THE MORNING OF NOVEMBER 7, 2017, THE FRONT/SLIDING PORTION OF THE SUNROOF ON MY 2015 NISSAN MURANO SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-5 IN SEATTLE, WA, AT THE POSTED SPEED (60 MPH). THE SOUND OF THE EXPLOSION WAS DEAFENING (I THOUGHT THAT A GUNSHOT HAD BEEN FIRED AT MY VEHICLE, AND/OR I HAD HAD A CATASTROPHIC TIRE BLOWOUT). LUCKILY THE RETRACTABLE FABRIC "SHIELD" BETWEEN THE SUNROOF AND THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WAS DEPLOYED, AND THE SHATTERED GLASS DID NOT FALL ON ME. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY AND PREVENT LARGE CHUNKS OF GLASS FROM FLYING INTO ON-COMING TRAFFIC. I SUBSEQUENTLY REPORTED THIS INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY, AND THE SUNROOF WAS REPLACED BY MY INSURER (THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT GLASS WAS APPROXIMATELY $1500; I PAID A $250 DEDUCTIBLE, AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY PAID THE REST).
ENGINE SURGES AT LOW SPEED AND IN CRUISE CONTROL AT HIGH SPEED
I WAS DRIVING MY CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2015 NISSAN MURANO WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT, A CAR THAT I JUST PURCHASED 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN THE FRONT HALF OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED. I WAS NOT UNDER AN UNDERPASS, THERE WERE NO CARS RIGHT NEXT TO ME. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT & GLASS CAME SHATTERING DOWN THE FRONT & BACK SEAT WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS IN HER CAR SEAT. THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING, DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE THAT COULD HAVE ENDED A LOT WORSE. I CONSIDER MY DAUGHTER & I LUCKY THAT WE WERE NOT INJURED BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE. THIS SAFETY ISSUE WITH EXPLODING SUNROOFS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED AS THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT CONSUMERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF BEFORE BUYING A NISSAN OR ANY CAR WITH A SUN ROOF.
I WAS DRIVING MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER YESTERDAY, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF. THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF MY CAR. ANOTHER TIME ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR SHUTS OFF AND I ALMOST HAD A ACCIDENT. I AM SCARED THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN AND I WILL BE PUTTING MY LIFE AND MY FAMILY'S LIFE IN DANGER.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED ONE TIME PREVIOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (GARDEN CITY NISSAN IN HEMSTEAD, NY) WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000. UPDATED 12/13/2017 *LN CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOTIFIED 9/27/17. THE SPECIALIST SAID THAT HE DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. ON 6/28/17, CONSUMER MADE A REPORT TO THE DEALER ABOUT THE BRAKES BUT IT WAS NOT DOCUMENTED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR. UPDATED 7/23/18*JB *TR
CVT SHUDDERS AT LOW SPEEDS 20 - 40 MPH, THE FEELING IS AS IF THE GEARS ARE JAMMING AND BANGING AGAINST EACH OTHER; IMMEDIATELY RELEASING ACCELERATOR AND PRESSING FOR HARDER ACCELERATION TEMPORARY SUPPRESSES THIS BEHAVIOR. ANY INCLINES WHERE CAR SLOWS DOWN AND RPM FALLS CAN LEAD TO REOCCURRENCE OF THE SAME. HAPPENS 2/3 TIMES WHEN THESE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE HAPPEN. I BELIEVE THE 'D'-STEP ARTIFICIAL SHIFTER TECHNOLOGY IS GOING OUT OF SYNC WITH REST OF TRANSMISSION ROTATION SPEED AND CAUSING THE GEARS TO GRIND DURING THOSE D-STEP ADJUSTMENTS.
VEHICLE HESTIATES - IT JERKS AND SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING NORMALY AROUND 20 MPH, AND ALSO AROUND 40 MPH. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION ISN'T SHIFTING PROPERLY AND CAUSING ABNORMAL VIBRATION AND INSTABILITY WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE NORMALY. THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND URBAN HIGHWAYS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS - AND AS RECENTLY ON SUNDAY AUGUST 27, 2017.
TIRES ARE LOSING PARTICLES OF THE RUBBER. THE TIRES ARE DETERIORATING IN THE MIDDLE MOSTLY
INITIALLY THE PROBLEM START WITH THE ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL BEING INTERMITTENT. I WOULD BE ON AND THEN THE SYSTEM RANDOMLY ERROR OUT AND DISABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. NOW CURRENTLY THE AEB SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY NOT FUNCTIONAL AT ANY SPEED AND I SUSPECT THE FRONT RADAR SENSOR THE SYSTEM USES IS FAULTY. LOTS OF RESEARCH ONLINE AND MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
LESS THAN 48 HOURS OF OWNERSHIP AND VIVA NISSAN OF EL PASO TX WOULD NOT TAKE BACK THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS A HORRIBLE GLARE REFLECTION FROM THE SUN WHEN THE STYLIZED HOOD ANGLES REFLECT BACK LIGHT INTO THE VEHICLE AND AGAINST OTHER DASH CHROME ACCENTS. DEALER DID, HOWEVER, SEND US TO HIS "FAVORITE" AUTO TINT SHOP, UNIVERSAL TINTING IN EL PASO TX. THEY WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER TO PUT ON A 70% OPTIK NANO CERAMIC TINT ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AND SEND THE NISSAN DEALER THE BILL OF $100. THAT COMPANY DID SUCH A RUSH JOB AND LEFT BUBBLES AND VISUAL IMPRESSION OF VIEWING THROUGH A FISHBOWL, NOT TO MENTION THE SLIME RESIDUAL FROM THE APPLICATION THAT WAS LEFT ALL ACROSS THE LEATHER DASH BOARD. 82 HOURS AFTER PURCHASE WE REVIEWED THAT 70% IS NOT STREET LEGAL IN NEW MEXICO WHERE THE CAR DEALER KNEW WE RESIDED, SO WE TOOK THE CAR TO A NM WINDOW TINT COMPANY WHO WILL BE REMOVING THE "DIRTY JOB" (AS THEY DESCRIBED IT) AND WILL DO A CLEAN, CLEAR JOB USING 80% CERAMIC TYPE PRODUCT (BLUE AIR 80 BL SR HPR). FIRSTLY, WHY AFTER LESS THAN 48 HOURS DID THE DEALER, VIVA NISSAN OF EL PASO TEXAS NOT FOLLOW OUR REQUEST TO FREEZE THE FUNDING AND LET US RETURN THE 2015 MURANO AND SELECT ANOTHER LESS DANGEROUS VEHICLE TO DRIVE? SECONDLY, WHY WOULD A 3RD PARTY WINDOW TINTING COMPANY OFFER A SOLUTION THAT WAS NOT STREET LEGAL IN OUR RESIDING STATE? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHY ISN'T NISSAN BUILDING THESE OVERGLASSED, OVER CLASSED, OVER STYLEIZED VEHICLES WITH SUCH REPEATING COMPLAINTS OF GLARE WITHOUT PROVIDING A FACTORY SOLUTION TO THE WINDSHIELD OR PAINT COATING? I GUESS IT COULD BE WORSE, OUR TRANSMISSION COULD BLOW IF IT'S ONE OF THE UNLUCKY ONES FROM A CERTAIN TIMEFRAME WHEN NISSAN FACTORIES WERE TRYING TO SAVE A DIME AND INSTALLED CHEAPER PARTS. HMMM.
VEHICLE JERKS AND SHUTTERS AT LOW RPMS (APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR).
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG STOPS DETECTING ADULT PASSENGER, WAS RECALLED BY NISSAN IN 2016 AND SYSTEM WAS REPROGRAMED, IT'S NOW MAY 2017 AND THE PROBLEM HAS STARTED AGAIN. WILL NEED TO CONTACT NISSAN FOR REPAIRS. ALSO WHEN DRIVING THERE IS AN EXTREME GLARE FROM THE BACK SIDE OF THE HOOD WHICH BLINDS AND DISORIENTS WHEN DRIVING TOWARDS THE SUN, NEARLY WREAKED CAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE FOR A FEW SECONDS. THIS HAPPENS ALL YEAR WHEN SUN SHINES.
AT 20K MILES IN OUR 2015 NISSAN MURANO, WE EXPERIENCED THE CAR CHUGGING AT SPEEDS UNDER 15MPH, TURNING A CORNER, ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE CHUGGING WAS FOLLOWED BY ENGINE REVVING. THIS WAS FOLLOWED 2 DAYS LATER BY COMPLETE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER THE ENGINE FAILED. NISSAN CANNOT DETERMINE A CAUSE AND IS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION
PURCHASED THE 2015 MURANO WITH 2200 MILES FROM OLYMPIA NISSAN IN OLYMPIA, WA. DID NOT GET THE EXTRA WARRANTY BECAUSE WE TRUSTED NISSAN AND THE CAR WAS BASICALLY NEW. ABOUT TWO YEARS AFTER PURCHASING IT, WE COULD FEEL A SLIGHT HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM LOW TO HIGHER SPEEDS. IT HAPPENED MORE WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS BUT ALSO HAPPENED PERIODICALLY ON THE FREEWAY. MY HUSBAND THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE GAS HE WAS USING. THE MISSING CONTINUED AND GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. HE TOOK HIS CAR IN TO NISSAN FOR ALL HIS OIL CHANGES AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT THEY SUGGESTED. HE MENTIONED THE PROBLEM BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THIS WAS BROUGHT UP DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I STARTED DRIVING THE CAR RECENTLY AFTER MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY AND IT WAS QUITE OBVIOUS THAT THE PROBLEM HAD GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. I TOOK IT TO GOODYEAR AND HAD THE EJECTORS CLEANED AND SPARK PLUGS REPLACED BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. GOODYEAR OFFERED TO TAKE IT TO NISSAN TO BE CHECKED ON THEIR COMPUTER. THEY DETERMINED I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR IS FIVE YEARS OLD WITH 75,000 MILES! AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION. I AM ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED. I HAVE A CAR I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED THROUGH A RECALL OR AN EXTENSION OF THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE. THE CONTACT STATED TO THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE FORWARD BRAKING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. TWO DANGEROUS ISSUES. FIRST IS WHEN I AM WAITING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND HAVE TO GIVE IT A FAST START. THE CAR TOTALLY FAILS AS I DO THIS. I MOVE ABOUT 5 FEET AND THE CAR DOES NOTHING, LEAVING ME HANGING OUT WITH TRAFFIC APPROACHING. EVENTUALLY, AFTER PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL, IT RESPONDS. THE SECOND ISSUE HAPPENED RECENTLY. THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE MORE THAN 30 MPH. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A TYPICAL RURAL ROAD AND THE CAR JUST GAVE UP, ALLOWING ME TO GO 30 MPH AT THE MOST. EVENTUALLY COOPERATED AFTER I STOPPED. TWO TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE ROADS. MY GAS GAUGE AND TRIP MONITOR INDICATED I HAD ABOUT 60 MILES UNTIL EMPTY THEN AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES IT SAID ABOUT 30 MILES TO EMPTY AND SHORTLY AFTER THAT CAR STARTED SPUTTERING AND LOSING POWER AND I HAD TO MAKE EMERGENCY MOVES TO KEEP FROM GETTING HIT. BOTH TIMES I WAS ABLE TO PULL UNTO THE SHOULDER AND DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE TO A GAS STATION TO FILL THE TANK WHICH TOOK ONLY SLIGHTLY OVER 15 GALLONS AND THE TANK HOLDS 19 GALLONS. I HAVE FOUND THE IDENTICAL COMPLAINT ON SEVERAL WEB SITES AND THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY HELP FROM NISSAN OR EVEN AN ADMITTANCE THAT THE PROBLEM EXITS. I JUST RETURNED FROM MY DEALER IN NAPLES, FL. AND ALL THEY COULD TELL ME WAS THAT NO ERROR CODES WERE SHOWING AND I COULD NOT EXPECT THE GAUGE TO BE ACCURATE AT ALL TIMES SINCE IT IS CONSTANTLY RECALCULATING AND CHANGING DISTANCE TO EMPTY. THAT REALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM SINCE THE CAR WAS APPARENTLY NOT OUT OF GAS AND IN THE PAST I HAVE PUT OVER 18 GALLONS IN THE TANK SO I AM CERTAIN IT WAS NOT OUT OF GAS. I BELIEVE THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM WITH THE PICKUP TUBE, SENSORS OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH. HAVING YOUR VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALL IN FRONT OF A SEMI TRUCK IS NO LAUGHING MATTER AND WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE ESCAPED WITHOUT A MAJOR ACCIDENT. NISSAN CAMPAIGN : PC482 ON 9/92016 TOOK VEHICLE IN TO HAVE ABS ACTUATOR CHECKED. IT WAS WITHIN RANGE FOR RECALL. PART WAS ORDERED. WEEK OF 9/192016, RECEIVED CALL FROM DEALER CENTRAL APPOINTMENTS (SHEEHY NISSAN WALDORF) TELLING ME PART WAS IN AND WAS GIVEN APPT ON 9/23/2016 TO HAVE ABS ACTUATOR REPLACED. ON 9/23, AT DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD NISSAN IS NOT REPLACING ABS ACTUATOR AS CALLED FOR IN CAMPAIGN UNLESS IT HAS LEAKED AND ABS LIGHT IS ON. THIS IS A PART NON-CONFORMANCE ISSUE. WHEN SEAL ALLOWS LEAK, IT DRIPS ON CIRCUIT BOARD WHICH WILL CAUSE A FIRE. REMEDY IS TO PARK VEHICLE, CALL FOR TOW AND GET RENTAL. THIS IS UNSAFE AND REMAINS SO. NISSAN RECALL STATES "YOUR NISSAN DEALER WILL INSPECT THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE ABS ACTUATOR, AND IF IT IS WITHIN THE AFFECTED RANGE, THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE ABS ACTUATOR WITH A NEW ABS ACTUATOR AT NO COST." MY ACTUATOR IS WITHIN AFFECTED RANGE AND NISSAN IS NOT COMPLYING WITH THEIR OWN RECALL REMEDY.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCS (16V244000). THE DEALER COMPLETED THE SERVICE. SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT THE SAME SYMPTOMS AGAIN. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OFF INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A 160 LB. PERSON IN THE SEAT. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT PERIODICALLY. I JUST HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AGAIN AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THE DEALER HAD SOMEONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON AT THAT TIME. THEY SIMPLY GAVE ME A SHEET OF PAPER TELLING ME HOW THE LIGHT WORKS WHICH IS NO DIFFERENT THAN WHAT THE MANUAL SAYS. THEY SAID THE PERSON SITTING IN THE SEAT HAD PROBABLY NOT BEEN SITTING RIGHT CAUSING THE SYSTEM TO THINK NO ONE WAS IN IT? THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR, DESPITE THE INITIAL RECALL. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT IT DOES HAPPEN PERIODICALLY.

ON AUG. 6, 2016, WE WERE RETURNING FROM VA. BEACH AND AROUND 4:00 PM IT BEGAN TO RAIN; STRONG AND HARD RAIN. WE WERE ON 301 HEADING NORTH TO WASHINGTON DC. WE PROCEEDED TO TURN ON THE WIPERS AND THE DEFROSTER TO CLEAR THE WINDOWS FOR VISIBILITY. THE AIR WAS BLOWING BUT THE CONDENSATION WAS INCREASING ON THE WINDOWS. WE STOPPED AT THE SHEEHY DEALER AT 2950 CRAIN HWY WALDORF, MD. WHERE I PURCHASE THE VEHICLE TO GET SOME ASSISTANCE. THE GENERAL MANAGER CAME OUT, BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE DEFROST SYSTEM TO WORK AND REMOVE THE CONDENSATION FROM THE WINDOWS.
I NOTICED THAT MY PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED WHEN I WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT WOULD HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY. NISSAN ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG AND I TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE IT SERVICED AND ASSUMED IT WAS A RELATED ISSUE. AFTER THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED, THE SAME ISSUE OF THE LIGHT OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. I RETURNED THE CAR TO NISSAN WHO REPLACED THE ENTIRE AIRBAG MODULE. AFTER THAT, I STILL NOTICED THE LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY BE ON WHILE THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. SPECIFICALLY, MYSELF OR MY DAUGHTER. BOTH OF US ARE 110-120 LB ADULTS. I AGAIN RETURNED THE CAR TO NISSAN WHO ADMITTED THAT THERE IS NO DEFINITE WEIGHT THAT WILL ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG AND THE 110-120 RANGE IS INDETERMINATE. THE SUGGESTION WAS THAT I PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR TO RESET THE SYSTEM TO RECOGNIZE A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. I AM UNABLE TO ESTABLISH ANY PATTERN OF WHAT CAUSES IT TO HAPPEN. IT SEEMS VERY RANDOM. OCCASIONALLY WHEN AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR WILL RECALCULATE AND ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG. I WOULD ESTIMATE 40% OF THE TIME A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATES TO INDICATE THE AIRBAG IS OFF. I FEEL THIS IS A FAULTY AND DANGEROUS DESIGN. NO ONE DISCLOSED WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR I MAY NOT HAVE AIRBAG PROTECTION. INITIALLY I WAS TOLD THE WEIGHT SETTING WAS ANYTHING GREATER THAN 70LBS WOULD ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG WHICH IS REASONABLE TO PROTECT SMALLER INFANT PASSENGERS THAT SHOULDN'T BE IN THE FRONT SEAT TO BEGIN WITH. BUT ADULTS AND TEENS OVER 70LBS SHOULD HAVE RELIABLE AND CONSISTENT AIRBAG PROTECTION. I DO HAVE VIDEOS OF MYSELF IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT WHILE WE ARE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IF NEEDED. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND SHOCKED NISSAN DOES NOT FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN.
