TIMMING CHAIN IS MAKING A BAD NOISE.
MY TIMING CHAIN ON MY PATHFINDER HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN NOISY BUT A FEW WEEKS AGO IT REALLY STARTED GETTING LOUD WHILE DRIVING IN MOTION AROUND . I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP AS TEETH WERE FALLING OFF THE 'CHAIN' INTO THE OIL. THEY SAY IT IS A KNOWN THING WITH 2005-2010 PATHFINDERS .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INITIALLY STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTIONED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CRANK. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE FAILED. HEADQUARTER NISSAN (1725 WHITTLESEY RD, COLUMBUS, GA 31904, (706) 225-8100) INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED WITH THE DEALER AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL IN 2011 AND COULD NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE RADIATOR FAILED AND CAUSED COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID TO MIX. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REBUILT AND A NEW RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,270.
TIMING CHAIN NEEDS REPLACED PULLED IN AND HEARD THE TELL TALE BUZZING SOUND HAD SOME ONE LISTEN WITH STETHASCOPE TO CONFIRM
COOLANT LEAKS INTO TRANSMISSION. THIS RUINED THE TRANSMISSION AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE ALHAMBRA NISSAN DEALER IN ALHAMBRA, CA FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE. THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED AN OIL CHANGE ON THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED EIGHT DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE ALHAMBRA NISSAN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SERVICED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OLD IN AGE AND OUT OF WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.

THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT RADIATOR FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID RESERVOIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.

I PAID OFF MY PATHFINDER LAST YEAR. JUST ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AFTER LEAVING A FRIENDS HOUSE THE TRUCK STARTED TURNING ON ALL THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. I DROVE IT VERY SLOWLY HOME NOT EVEN A MILE AWAY, I TURNED IT OFF AND NEXT DAY..MY SURPRISE IT DIDN'T TURN ON TO TAKE TO THE MECHANIC. I CALLED THE TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT IN TO NISSAN DEALER AND THEY FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION OIL AND MESSED UP THE MODULE TOO. THEY WHERE ORIGINALLY CHARGING ME 7200 DOLLARS TO FIX. I BROUGHT IT BACK HOME AND AFTER WHEN I WAS ABLE TO PAY WITH CREDIT I TOOK IT IN TO FIX. THEY URGED ME TO FIX ALL AT ONCE BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURER DEFECT ON ANY OF THE ABOVE..MOST LIKELY THEY SAID IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
THE TIMING CHAIN IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN USA. MY TIMING CHAIN HAS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST DUE TO ITS FAULTY DESIGN. ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING, LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED. THIS ITEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY NISSAN AS THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE JUST AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES.
TAKATA RECALL- BLOWN TRANSMISSION DUE TO RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION FLUID, RESULTING IN BLOWN TCM AND TRANSMISSION. COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN PROBLEM HAPPENED. NO WARNING SIGNS GIVEN FROM VEHICLE.

THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION CAUSED AN "INTER COOLER FAILURE". THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT WAS NOT THE MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE DEALER THAT INSTALLED THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 168,000.
RIGHT AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY POWER SPRAYED THE ENGINE, SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. A FEW DAYS LATER, VEHICLE IS KNOCKING. TOOK IT BACK, RADIATOR FLUID WAS IN TRANS. REPLACED RADIATOR AND FLUSHED TRANS. WEEK LATER, SAME THING NOW WORSE. CAR IS KNOCKING LOAD ESPECIALLY AFTER HITTING 40 MPH. SOMETIMES IT WONT PASS 40MPH.
SERVICE BULLITIN CLASSIFICATION EM09-007, REFRENCE NTB09-128, POSTED NOVEMBER 16, 2009. BUZZING/WHINING NOISE FROM TIMING CHAIN AREA. HAVE CONTACTED AND STOPPED BY DEALERSHIP TO INFORM THEM ABOUT ISSUE I WAS HAVING. SHOWED TECH THERE THE SERVICE BULLITIN AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH NUMEROUS VEHICLES. I WAS GIVEN THE ONLY WAY IT WAS COVERED BY NISSAN WAS IF THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. IF IT WERE NOT COVERD THAT WAY THEN I, THE CUSTOMER, WERE RESPONSIBLE TO ALL THE COST AND AND RENTAL FEES IF I CHOSE TO GET ONE WHILE IT WAS IN THE SERVICE CENTER. I WAS GIVEN THE COST ESTIMATED AT $1800 DOLLARS AND THERE WAS NO GUARENTEE THAT IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM.. AND HAVE A NICE DAY. LEFT VERY FRUSTERATED KNOWING THERE WERE THOUSANDS MORE IN THE SAME SITUATION I'M IN NOW.
MY SON BOUGHT ME THE 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER ON MARCH 8. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TPS LIGHTS WERE ON THE DAY WE GOT IT, I ALSO COULD SMELL ANTIFREEZE CONSTANTLY. TOOK TO MECHANIC TO CHECK. HE SAID ENGINE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTOTRANSMISSION FLUID AND THAT NISSAN WAS HAVING ALOT OF TROUBLES WITH THIS. HE SAID IT COULD COST THOUSANDS DOLLARS TO FIX. MY VEHICLE HAS ALITTLE OVER 73,500 MILES ON IT AND I CANNOT AFFORD A HUGE REPAIR BILL. MY SON IS WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY. CAN YOU POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION IN REGRDS TO THIS PLEASE! THANKS!
