I JUST SPOKE WITH THE FTC AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WHILE THEY DON'T RESPOND TO INDIVIDUAL COMPLAINTS IF THEY SEE PATTERNS THEY DO. THE ONLY WAY WE WILL GET NISSAN TO RESPOND TO US IS BY COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES AS WELL AS THEIR SAFETY ISSUES. THESE DEALERSHIPS AND CORPORATE CONSUMER AFFAIRS KNOW THAT UNTIL ENOUGH OF US COMPLAIN TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND STOP JUST PAYING FOR NISSAN'S KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT AND OTHER ISSUES, THEY WILL KEEP GIVING US THE RUN AROUND. I HAVE TO PUT MY 2ND TRANSMISSION IN MY 2008 ROGUE IN 12 MONTHS. NISSAN TELLS ME MY LAST NEW TRANSMISSION (APRIL 2014) WAS OUT OF THE 12 MONTH/12,000 MILE WARRANTY. I WAS DRIVING DOWN HUNT HIGHWAY GOING 45 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I STARTED TO COME UP A HILL AND THE CAR CAME TO A NEAR COMPLETE STOP WITH NO WARNING BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION BINDING UP CAUSING ME TO ALMOST BE REAR ENDED AND MY TIRES TO SKID A LITTLE TILL I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES TO TRY AND WARN PEOPLE BEHIND ME AND HAD TO EXIT THE ROADWAY INTO A DIRT FARM FIELD TO AVOID BEING HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
MY VEHICLE LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON WEDNESDAY. THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE A BIT AND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR, THE SPEED DECREASED TO ABOUT 30MPH AND THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE AN AIRPLANE TAKING OFF. THE CAR EVENTUALLY REGAINED ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE UNTIL I GOT OFF ON THE EXIT NEAR MY HOUSE AND THAT IS WHEN THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION AGAIN IN THE MIDST OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I'VE HAD THIS CAR AND EACH TIME I CALL THE DEALERSHIP THEY CLAIM TO NOT HAVE HEARD OF THIS EVER HAPPENING. IT EVEN HAPPENED ON A TRIP FROM TN TO SC. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE AND CONGESTED CITY STREETS. I AM NERVOUS ABOUT TAKING THE CAR ON TRIPS LONGER THAN 30-45 MINUTES LONG. THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WHERE THE TPMS LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON FOR DAYS. WHEN I HAVE IT CHECKED OUT, I'M USUALLY TOLD THAT THE AIR PRESSURE IS GOOD AND THAT THE LIGHT IS JUST MALFUNCTIONING. THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP DENIES HAVING KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ISSUE ALSO AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY A TON OF MONEY FOR THEM TO CHECK IT OUT. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WHEEL JERKED SLIGHTLY THEN THE PS LIGHT CAME ON AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED UNTIL I HAD TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. AFTER THAT I DROVE IT TO THE CLOSEST PLACE TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND THIS OPERATION PRINTED ME OUT A REPORT CALLED NHTSA CAMPAIGN AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE ST. CHARLES NISSAN DEALER. ON MY WAY THERE THE PS LIGHT WAS OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT THERE WITH NO ISSUES. THE EMPLOYEE AT NISSAN THAT HELPED ME SAID HE WAS ABLE TO LOOK AT IT AND TOLD ME THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE POWER STEERING. HE CALLED IT A GLITCH. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FROM THE DEALER BACK TO WORK WITH NO PROBLEMS. AFTER WORK THE PS LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. I WENT TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE TO PICK UP MY SON AND I STAYED FOR A FEW HOURS. WHEN I GOT BACK IN MY CAR THE PS LIGHT WAS OFF AND REMAINED OFF UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING RIGHT WHEN I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AT WORK. IT HAS REMAINED ON SINCE THEN AND HAS NOT TURNED OFF. THE CAMPAIGN STATES THAT IT'S FOR NISSAN ROGUE'S 2008-2009 VEHICLES BUT WHEN THE DEALER PUT IN MY VIN IT DID NOT SHOW UP FOR MY MODEL, HOWEVER THE MODELS THAT IT DOES SHOW UP FOR IS THE SAME VEHICLE AS MINE WITH THE SAME POWER STEERING ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE NISSAN TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR COVERING ALL PARTS AND LABOR TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
CAR LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING, ON HIGHWAY GOING 80, ALL OF SUDDEN TOTAL LOST OF POWER ON ANY INCLINE. DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND OTHERS AROUND ME. COMING OFF HIGHWAY HESITATES , APPEARS TO NOT MOVE AT ALL. EVENTUALLY CAR IS MOVING APPROX. 20 MPH, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE HOOD UNLATCHED ON ITS OWN AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND CLOSED THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE HOOD, TWO FRONT FENDERS, AND SUPPORT MECHANISMS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK OR OPEN THE DOORS FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. DRIVING OVER A RAIL ROAD TRACK THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. THE CABLE ASS CONTROL TO THE TRANSMISSION BROKE OFF. WHEN WE HAD NOTIFY NISSAN OF THE PART WE NEEDED, WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE A WHILE BEFORE WE COULD GET THIS PART THAT THERE WERE OVER 20 PEOPLE AHEAD OF US FOR THIS PART. SO I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS COULD HAVE CREATED A VERY BAD ACCIDENT.

AIRBAG DASH LIGHT STARTED FLASHING WITHIN 5 SECONDS OF A STRANGE POP/CRACK SOUND THAT CAME FROM THE DASH AREA. LOCAL NISSAN DEALER CURRENTLY HAS THE CAR, AND HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE IS BAD. THE ESTIMATED COST OF THE REPLACEMENT WITH LABOR IS OVER $1,100. *TR
DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOORS FROZE AFTER FREEZING RAIN/ ICE STORM. IN THE MORNING I WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR AND START THE CAR. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE HANDLES. THE PASSENGER DOOR HAD NO PROBLEMS.THOUGH I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE PROBLEM TO THE WEATHER AT THE TIME. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED IT HAS BEEN A VERY COMMON PROBLEM...COMMON WHY NOT RECALLED???????? I WAS QUOTED AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP $450 TO $500.00.THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE..NO ONE SHOULD CLIMB OVER OR HAVE TO OPEN THE WINDOW FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE...ITS A CARJACKING READY TO HAPPEN!!! *JS

2008 NISSAN ROGUE AIRBAG DASHBOARD LIGHT SIGNALED THERE WAS A PROBLEM ON THE DASHBOARD. DEALER (NISSAN CHESAPEAKE, LOCATED IN CHESAPEAKE, VA) STATED THE AIRBAG DIODE WAS COMPLETELY DEFECTIVE AND THE AIRBAGS COULD NO LONGER DEPLOY. SINCE THE CAR HAD 62,300 MILES ON IT, NISSAN WOULD NOT OFFER ANY WARRANTY OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ON THE $1,400.00 BILL TO REPLACE THE DIODE. DEALER CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS EMBARRASSED THAT SUCH A PART WAS DEFECTIVE AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD CAME ON. I HAVE TRIED TO RESET A FEW TIMES BUT IT WILL NOT RESET. DEALER WANTED $130 TO DIAGNOSE EVEN THOUGH THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED RIGHT AFTER I HAD THEM FIX ANOTHER RECALL. DON'T KNOW IF RELATED OR NOT. DEALER CLAIMS IT ISN'T. EMAIL REPLY FROM THE CONSUMER (SEPT 2, 2015): "I DIDN'T REPAIR IT. THE HORN DID NOT WORK BUT I SOLD THE CAR."...UPDATED 09/22/15 *BF THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE SOLD THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 10/01/15*JB
I HAVE BEEN REQUESTING NISSAN REPLACE THE SEAT CUSHION IN MY ROGUE SINCE THEY INSPECTED IT IN 2015. THEY HAVE REFUSED. NOW I SEE THERE IS A RECALL, AIR BAG OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS), AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED AND DO NOT SEE MY VEHICLE IN THE RECALL NOTIFICATIONS!!!!! I NEEDS MY SEAT CUSHION REPLACED, OR THE AIR BAG SENSOR WILL NOT ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG IN A COLLISION. I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE.
FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS, MY GAS GAUGE HAS BEEN READING INCORRECTLY AND WHEN I WOULD GO TO FILL OUT THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NEVER SHOW COMPLETELY FULL. IN SOME CASES, I WOULD TURN ON THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD READ SUFFICIENTLY LESS THAN WHAT WAS IN THE TANK AND THEN CLIMB BACK UP TO WHAT I ASSUME WAS THE CORRECT LEVEL. MY LAST FILL UP, THE GAUGE READ 3 BARS LEFT OF FUEL AND I PUMPED 14.5 GALLONS OF GAS AT THE STATION WHICH IS EXACTLY MY GAS TANK SIZE. I THEN LOOKED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AND OTHER MODELS WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO GOOD FIXES APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN FOUND. *TR
THE FUEL SENDING UNIT DOES NOT WORK. I FILL UP THE TANK AND IT DOES NOT READ FULL, AND IT IS UNRELIABLE. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND THEY TOLD ME THE CAR IS NOT SUBJECT TO A RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION SO TOO BAD. THIS IS A 7 YEAR OLD CAR! THIS SHOULDN'T FAIL! ALSO, NISSAN HAS ISSUED RECALLS FOR THE SAME PART FOR THE NISSAN FRONTIER AND ALTIMA, BOTH FOR THE 2008 MODEL YEAR.
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE FAILED - DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED. NISSAN HAD ISSUED AN SERVICE CAMPAIGN THAT COVERED REPAIRS IF THE ISSUE HAPPENED BY 72,000 MILES. ISSUE OCCURRED AT 74,000 MILES SO REFUSED TO COVER THE COST. THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE IF I NEEDED TO ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE FROM THAT DOOR. DUE TO THE SAFETY ASPECT, NISSAN SHOULD BE ISSUING A RECALL FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE HAD STARTED TO FAIL AT TIME OF REPAIR AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ALSO. AGAIN, NISSAN REFUSED TO HONOR THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN.

I WAS TRAVELING HOME FROM WORK AND WAS ON AN INCLINE TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS AND I WAS JUST ABLE TO STOP IT BEFORE I WAS HIT AND CAUSED A MULTI CAR PILE UP DUE TO THIS FAILURE. LUCKILY I WASN'T TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHEN THIS HAPPENED SO NO MAJOR INCIDENT OCCURRED, THIS TIME, BUT IT COULD HAPPEN. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING A USED 2008 NISSAN ROGUE THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. FROM RESEARCHING THE MATTER ONLINE, IT SEEMS THAT MANY 2007-2008 NISSAN VEHICLES WERE RECALLED FOR A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT CANNOT DETECT WHEN ANYONE IS SITTING IN THAT SEAT - IN OTHER WORDS, NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAG BUT WITH THE SEAT SENSOR. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED THE USED VEHICLE FROM SAYS OUR VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, ALTHOUGH OUR ISSUE MATCHES WHAT IS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL AND PERTAINS TO OUR YEAR VEHICLE. *TR
ON 11/20/14 I WAS ON HIGHWAY 80 DRIVING FROM ROSEVILLE CA TO PALO ALTO CA . I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE (4 TOTAL) IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DOING APRX 50 MPH. WITH NO WARNING I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE ONLY REVVED WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL. I CUT OFF SEVERAL CARS TO GET TO THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER. AFTER I CALLED AAA A CHP SHOWED UP TO SEE IF I WAS OK. I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND A TOW TRUCK WOULD ARRIVE IN ABOUT 2 HOUR DUE TO TRAFFIC. THE OFFICER SAID BECAUSE OF MY LOCATION I NEEDED TO REMAIN IN MY CAR UNTIL A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. HE ALSO SAID HE WOULD REMAIN WITH ME UNTIL HELP ARRIVED. I WAS TOWED TO A SHOP IN FAIRFIELD CA (CLOSEST CITY). PAID $3,758 TO HAVE AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTALL A NEW NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSION. FOUND OUT LATER NISSAN HAD EXTENDED THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES. MY CAR WAS WELL WITHIN THE WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO 2 NISSAN REPRESENTATIVES AND BOTH TOLD ME BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DO THE REPAIR THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I EXPLAINED I WAS FROM OREGON AND NEEDED TO BE HOME BY SATURDAY TO WORK. THE SHOP THAT DID THE WORK HAD ME ON THE ROAD THE NEXT DAY. THEY SAID BECAUSE THEY INSTALLED A NISSAN TRANSMISSION IT WOULD BE WARRANTED BY NISSAN. I ASKED IF I COULD SEND AN EMAIL TO SOMEONE HIGHER UP EXPLAINING MY SITUATION AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO NEED. I ASKED IF THEY WERE RECORDING OUR CONVERSATIONS AND WAS TOLD YES. ON THE DATE LISTED ABOVE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. MY WIFE AND I WERE IN FOUR LANES OF EASTBOUND TRAFFIC ON I40 IN BURLINGTON NC. WE LOST MOMENTUM IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WERE LUCKY TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2008. IT HAD A KNOWN ISSUE WHERE GRINDING NOISES WERE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. NISSAN FINALLY RELEASED A FIX AND MY CAR WAS UPDATED ON 11/30/2009. I BELIEVE THE CVT WAS DEFECTIVE OR DAMAGED BECAUSE OF A SLOW RESPONSE BY NISSAN. THE CAR WAS 20 MONTHS OLD BEFORE THE COMPANY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE SO THAT THE GRINDING NOISE WASN'T PRESENT. I ASKED NISSAN FOR DATA ON FAILURES AND - OF COURSE - THEY SAID THAT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. AS REPORTED BY MANY OTHER 2008 NISSAN ROGUE OWNERS, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT WAS FLASHING, INDICATING A NON-FUNCTIONAL AIRBAG (THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM, DRIVER'S SIDE INCLUDED, WE FOUND OUT LATER). THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS NOT ONE OF THE 200,000+ VEHICLES RECALLED (08V521000) FOR THE VERY SAME ISSUE WITH THE OCS (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM). THE ONLY FIX, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER (AND THE SUBSEQUENT MULTIPLE CALLS TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS), IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE: 1) THE PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR DISABLES THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM, AND 2) A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX ($1800-$2500) IS REQUIRED FOR A SAFETY SYSTEM SENSOR. IN LIGHT OF THE NEARLY 1 MILLION NISSAN VEHICLES RECENTLY RECALLED (2014) FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE,THE RECALL REALLY SHOULD HAVE APPLIED NOT ONLY TO THOSE INITIAL 200,000+ VEHICLES, BUT ALL THOSE VEHICLES WITH THE SAME SENSOR SYSTEM THAT THEY STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN RIGHT. MECHANIC CLAIMS THAT AS HE WAS BACKING MY CAR UP INTO A PARKING SPACE AND OUT OF NO WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY JERKED HURTING HIS FINGER. THEN WHEN THEY TOOK IT OUT FOR A TEXT DRIVE, GOING ABOUT 10 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO TURN IT LEFT OR RIGHT. *TR

OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT 2 YEARS, I WOULD HAVE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS BOTH WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, HILLS OR AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. AT FIRST IT WAS ANNOYING AND A FEW SECOND LONG PROBLEM BUT IT GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND MORE DANGEROUS. I HAD AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY WHERE I COMPLETELY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE EVEN TO PULL OFF TO A SAFE LOCATION. IT WAS LIKE A STALL HAPPENED. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING INTO TRAFFIC TO MAKE SIMPLE TURNS AS WELL AS LEAVING TRAFFIC LIGHTS. IN NOVEMBER, I REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION BUT I BELIEVE NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS AND ARE PUTTING CONSUMERS AT GREAT RISK. EVEN AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF MY TRANSMISSION (AFTER HEARING NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES) I STILL HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. MY RESEARCH ALSO FOUND OUT THAT OTHER NISSAN OWNERS OF ROGUE AND MURANOS WERE HAVING ISSUES WITH CVT TRANSMISSION. WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 3RD 2014, THE NISSAN WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE, AND HAS NOT STARTED SEANCE, I REPLACED THE FOLLOWING PARTS (FOR MY WIFE) ON THE BATTERY. THE POSITIVE TERMINAL CLAMP WAS CORRODED THROUGH TO THE POINT WE TOUCHED IT AND IT BROKE. (WE REPLACED THE PARTS FROM DEALERSHIP SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2014) BEFORE AND AFTER THE BATTERY TERMINAL AND FUSE PACK WERE REPLACED THE OBD2 WILL NOT CONNECT WITH THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE CAR AT ALL. NOW NOT EVEN 24 HRS AFTER THE ABOVE LISTED PARTS WERE REPLACED, THE CAR BATTERY IS NOW DEAD, SITTING ON STREET WITH SYSTEM NOW RECONNECTED. THE TRANSMISSION DIED ON MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN JUNE 2008, WE HEARD "WHIRING" NOISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE AND WE HAVE THE NOTATION THAT CUSTOMER COMPLAINED OF WHIRING. RESULT WAS THERE WERE NO ISSUES. CAR HAS CONTINUED TO WHINE THROUGH THE YEARS, IN THE PAST YEAR, IT BECAME WORSE. WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC TO BE EVALUATED, AND IMMEDIATELY HE KNEW THE PROBLEM- THE CVT TRANSMISSION. THE MECHANIC DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT NISSAN HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY, VERY QUIETLY. SINCE I DRIVE 70+ MILES TO/FROM WORK, MY CAR WAS ALREADY OVER THE WARRANTY LIMIT. HENCE, LEFT WITH 2 OPTIONS, REPLACEMENT VIA A NISSAN DEALERSHIP COSTING $5,000 AS NO VIABLE MECHANIC WILL TOUCH THE PROBLEM. OR GET RID OF THE CAR. THIS TYPE OF REPAIR WAS NOT IN OUR BUDGET NOR WERE WE IN A POSITION TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE ( THIS ONE WAS PAID FOR). THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT READ THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL THE CAR HAS / THE CAR HAS LESS GAS THAN IT SHOWS.I HAVE BEEN TO THE NISSAN DEALER FIVE TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM - THEY HAVE CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL GAUGE TWICE. AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED BLINKING OUT OF NOWHERE. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT BECAUSE MY SENTRA DID THIS BEFORE TOO, BUT STOPPED. FINALLY BROUGHT IT IN BECAUSE IT WASN'T GOING OFF AND TOLD BY MECHANIC THAT THERE IS A SHORT IN THE SPIRAL CABLE THAT WILL NOT DEPLOY AIR BAG. ELECTRICAL SHORTS CAN ALSO CAUSE FIRES. NISSAN IS REFUSING TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT IS NOT A CURRENT RECALL AND WE ARE JUST PAST WARRANTY NOW - EVEN THOUGH IT STARTED PRE-EXPIRATION. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE AFFECTED BY MAINTENANCE OR ANYTHING WE COULD'VE DONE WRONG. IT CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE IN TERMS OF FIRE AND AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. ADDITIONALLY, I WAS ABLE TO SEE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE WEB. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY ARE ALL USING A TRICK TO GET THE LIGHT OFF, NOT REALIZING THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT OR CAR CAN START ON FIRE.
DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE CAR WENT FROM 70MPH TO 50MPH. UNABLE TO GET IT TO GO ANY FASTER. TRANSMISSION IN SOME SORT OF SAFE MODE FROM OVERHEATING OR SOMETHING. I WAS ALMOST RUN INTO BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND EVERY TIME I HAVE ONLY NARROWLY AVOIDED A COLLISION. NISSAN SAYS THEY HAVE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE PARTS ARE ON RESTRICTION, MEANING THAT THE DEALER CAN'T EVEN GET THEM IN. TRAVELING LONG DISTANCE ON THE HIGHWAY. ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR IN A NORMAL MANNER ACCOMPANIED BY WHINY NOISES. PRESSED ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR AND RPMS WOULD INCREASE EXTREMELY SLOWLY AND NOT ABOVE 3000 RPMS. CONTINUED FOR THE REMAINING 2.5 HOURS OF OUR TRIP. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON OUR WAY HOME MULTIPLE TIMES. HAD EXTREME DIFFICULTY AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND HAVING TO STOP. VEHICLE BARELY MOVED FORWARD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE AN ADULT PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT SEAT, THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS OFF AND THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF A CRASH OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM LOCATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V521000(AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE IDENTICAL FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
