TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OCS UNIT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. LATER THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V521000 (AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MILEAGE WAS TOO HIGH TO HONOR THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THE SAME. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
OUTSIDE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE STOPPED WORKING. HAVE BEEN READING TONS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER ROGUE OWNERS WHO ARE ALSO HAVING THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND NISSAN IS NOT HONORING THESE DEFECTS AND FIXING THEM. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. AT WHAT POINT DOES A RECALL HAVE TO BE ISSUED WHEN THIS PROBLEM IS SO INCREDIBLY PREVALENT?? WE NOW HAVE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. NOW WE'RE JUST WAITING FOR THIS TO OCCUR AT SOME POINT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AS WELL!!!! APPARENTLY THE LINKAGES WITHIN THE DOOR HANDLE MECHANISMS ARE FAULTY AND "FALL APART" IS WHAT I AM GATHERING FROM EVERYONE ELSE'S COMPLAINTS. PLEASE MAKE THIS A RECALL. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
IN COLD/FREEZING TEMPERATURES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN A DOOR THE ACTUATOR CABLES BECOME DISENGAGED FROM THE DOOR HANDLE, DISABLING ACCESS TO THE CAR FROM THAT DOOR. THE DOOR IS ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE BUT NOT THE OUTSIDE. IN 2013 BOTH FRONT DOORS MALFUNCTIONED IN THIS WAY. IT COST $500. PER DOOR TO FIX BY GUTTING THE DOOR, REATTACHING THE CABLES AND PUTTING THE DOOR BACK TOGETHER. NO PARTS, JUST LABOR. IT HAPPENED AGAIN DECEMBER 2013. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR NISSAN AND INFINITI. THERE HAS BEEN AN UNANNOUNCED EXTENDED WARRANTY OFFERED TO SOME CUSTOMERS, BUT WE WERE DEEMED INELIGIBLE BY NISSAN DUE TO BEING 2ND OWNERS AND MILEAGE OVER 100,000 MILES (WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH 101,000 MILES). THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO POTENTIAL ACCESS PROBLEMS FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR IN THE EVENT SOMEONE IS TRAPPED INSIDE. AT PRESENT WE HAVE THREE DOORS DISABLED AND CANNOT AFFORD $1500. TO REPAIR THEM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS NOW NISSAN IS REPLACING ACTUATORS AND ANOTHER PART AS PART OF THEIR LIMITED EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT ONLY TO SOME OF THOSE WHO COMPLAIN. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING IN THE CONSOLE. I FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THAT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER BECAME STUCK IN PARK. WHEN THE FAILURE FIRST OCCURRED, THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS FOUND TO BE ABNORMALLY LOOSE AND THE CONTACT COULD SHAKE THE SHIFTER BACK AND FORTH AND DISLODGED. THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WERE INFORMED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER AND THE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000. UPDATED 06/18/13 *LJ THE CONTACT STATED THE DEALER PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A SMALL SCREWDIRIVER TO PUT IN THE SLOT TO PUSH DOWN AND RELEASE THE SHIFTER. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK IT WOULD TAKE EXTRA TIME TO DISLODGE. UPDATED 06/24/2013 *JS
MY GIRLFRIEND AND I OWN A NISSAN ROGUE THAT HAS A FAULTY CVT TRANSMISSION THAT HAS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TWICE WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS. WE DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS FAULTY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DECELERATES WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. AS THE CAR SLOWS, YOU CAN PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THE CAR WILL NOT GO ABOVE WHATEVER SPEED IT WAS LOWERED TO. IF YOU NEED TO SLOW FOR WHATEVER REASON, THE CAR WILL BE RELEGATED TO A CRAWL WHICH IS A HUGE DANGER ON THE FREEWAY. WITH THAT SAID, NISSAN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION INITIALLY AND WHILE WE BELIEVED OUR PROBLEMS WERE SOLVED, ABOUT A MONTH AGO WE DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR WAS ONCE AGAIN DECELERATING WHILE WE WERE BRINGING MY GIRLFRIEND'S YEAR AND A HALF YEAR OLD NIECE BACK HOME WITH US FROM LOS ANGELES. THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK HOME AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AGAIN, IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND AGAIN WE GOT IT REPLACED. WE WERE TOLD BY THE NISSAN MECHANIC THAT THE PHOENIX HEAT QUICKLY CAUSES THE CVT TRANSMISSION TO BREAK DOWN AND TOLD US THAT IT WILL LIKELY HAPPEN AGAIN WITHIN TWO YEARS. IT WAS AT THIS POINT THAT WE DECIDED TO CONTACT NISSAN AND PUSH FOR A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THIS TRANSMISSION. WE CAN'T AFFORD IT FINANCIALLY AND WE DON'T WANT TO RISK IT AND CONTINUE ON WITH OUR VEHICLE IF WE KNOW THAT IF WE PUSH IT, IT COULD BE UNSAFE. I ESCALATED THIS ISSUE THROUGH THEIR CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT, BUT AFTER SPEAKING WITH THEIR REPRESENTATIVES, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THEY CONTRADICTED THEIR OWN MECHANIC AND REFUSED TO ADMIT THAT THIS IS A REAL ISSUE. INSTEAD THEY OPTED FOR A LETS WAIT AND SEE APPROACH. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR MYSELF, MY FAMILY, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO MAY BE AFFECTED BY THIS FAULTY TRANSMISSION. *TR
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 08V5210000 WAS ISSUED RECALLING THE 2008 NISSAN ROGUE FOR A FAULTY AIRBAG SENSOR. WHY WHEN I OWN A 2008 ROGUE, AND THE DEALER HAS CONFIRMED THE OCS CONTROL UNIT FAULTY & NOW HAS FAILED, IS NISSAN NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT AT THEIR COST? THEY TELL ME IT IS BECAUSE ONLY A CERTAIN SUPPLIER WAS RECALLED EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THE SAME PART IS THE ONE THAT IS FAULTY IN MY 2008 ROGUE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND IT WAS RECALLED ON MY MAKE & MODEL BUT BECAUSE MY VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL (I.E. NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAINED), THEY REFUSE TO OFFER ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I HAVE A 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO RIDES IN THE PASSENGER SEAT FOR 50 MILES TO/FROM SCHOOL EVERYDAY. THIS REPAIR IS $2500! IT IS A FAULTY PART & NISSAN NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING ALL PARTS THAT ARE DEEMED FAULTY AND FAIL. I INFORMED NISSAN THAT (HEAVEN FORBID) IF I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT & MY DAUGHTER FLIES OUT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD BECAUSE OF A FAULTY AIRBAG SENSOR, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT IS ON RECORD & A LAWSUIT WILL BE FILED. NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, AS IS YOUR ORGANIZATION. BUT UNFORTUNATELY YOU LIMIT THESE RECALLS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE BIG CORPORATIONS INSTEAD OF THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE.
I NOTICED A WHINNING SOUND COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO THEN REPORTED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE CVT TRANSMISSION (CARRIER BEARING AREA). I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THERE HAD BEEN ISSUES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS IN NISSAN. NISSAN HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY HOWEVER DUE TO ME THE CONSUMER NOT BEING MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE THAT NISSAN WAS HAVING, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT I SHOULD BE ON THE LOOK TO SEE IF MY CAR WAS HAVING ISSUES UNTIL I HEARD THE WHINNING SOUND. I DRIVE A LOT FOR WORK, THEREFORE MY CAR HAS 123,233 MILES ON IT BUT IS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS NO OTHER ISSUES. I AM CURRENTLY BATTLING WITH NISSAN TO HAVE THEM FIX THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT (CVT TRANSMISSION). NISSAN SHOULD BE MADE TO CORRECT THESE DEFECTS IN THEIR PRODUCTS REGARDLESS. NISSAN KNOWS OF THE ISSUE, BUT FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE BEEN DOING ONLINE THEY ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS. AMERICANS SHOULD NOT SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PRODUCTS THAT ARE DEFECTIVE AND THEN COMPANIES BAILING OUT. COMPANIES NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED TO COVER ONE MONTH OF HER VEHICLE PAYMENTS. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE COULD HEAR A POPPING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE AIR PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE RANDOMLY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000.

MY NISSAN ROGUE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES (TOMORROW MAKES 3) TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN AUGUST 2012, APRIL 2013 AND NOW AGAIN JULY 2013. I WAS TOLD THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CRT TRANSMISSION. MY CAR GETS UP TO ABOUT 70 MILES PER HOUR AND THEN I'M LITERALLY PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND MY CAR WON'T GO OVER 40-50 MILES PER HOUR. NOW MY CAR IS LUNGING FORWARD WHEN IT'S AT A COMPLETE STOP. I ASKED NISSAN WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT AGAIN AFTER REPAIRS TOMORROW AND I WAS TOLD THEY WILL JUST KEEP REPAIRING IT UNTIL MY WARRANTY IS UP AND THEN UNFORTUNATELY I'D BE ON MY OWN. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 35MPH. UPON EXIT FROM HIGHWAY, WOULD NOT GO PAST 20 MPH. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE. THIS WEEKEND IT OCCURRED AGAIN. MY SON WAS DRIVING IT AND IT BECAME TOO DANGEROUS TO ATTEMPT CROSSING AN INTERSECTION. RETURNED TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE. THERE IS NO INDICATOR LIGHT, NO ERROR CODE TO TELL YOU THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS SERVICE. THE MANUAL IS VAGUE WITH REGARDS TO CHANGE INTERVALS. LUCKILY MY SON IS AN ADULT WHO KNEW HOW TO HANDLE THE SITUATION. AN INEXPERIENCED, ELDERLY OR EVEN DISTRACTED DRIVER COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED. MY SON WAS GLAD HE WAS NOT REAR ENDED WHEN HE DID NOT PROCEED INTO THE INTERSECTION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CONYERS NISSAN 1420 IRIS DR SW, CONYERS, GA 30094 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO CONYERS NISSAN 1420 IRIS DR SW, CONYERS, GA 30094 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN BACK TO CONYERS NISSAN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD AGAIN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD COVER HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION, FUEL GAUGE, AND MASTER CYLINDER ALL NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED OF AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE WITH THE AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 33,000.
PROBLEM IN JULY 2012- AT A STOP LIGHT , WENT TO ACCELERATE, AND NOTHING,, KEPT PUSHING GAS PEDAL,, TOOK OUT OF DRIVE AND PUT BACK IN , FINALLY WENT., KEPT DOING THIS AT UNEXPECTED TIMES. NO SERVICE LIGHT WENT ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, $600.00, LATER, THEY SAID IT WAS MY ACCELERATION CABLE, AND REPLACED IT.. STATED TRANSMISSION HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.. STILL NOT RUNNING WELL, STILL MAKES WHINING NOISE - MARCH 2013 STARTED DOING SAME THING WITH ACCELERATION. , ALMOST GOT KILLED TAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND NO ACCELERATION. MAKING HIGH PITCH NOISE @ 50-60 MILES.TOOK TO DEALERSHIP -SAID IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION FLUID, IT WAS OVERFILLED AND BAD COLOR?. $ 200 TO CHANGE FLUID, STILL NOT AGREEING TO CHANGE OUT TRANSMISSION. I LOOKED ON LINE , A TON OF COMPLAINTS ON SAME ISSUES.. ALL RESULTING IN THE CVT- HOW DO I GET THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX PROBLEM? *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY OR AROUND TOWN ROGUE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY FROM STOP. PEDAL WOULD BE PRESSED DOWN BUT CAR WOULD BARELY INCH FORWARD. ALSO, TWICE AS I WAS JUST DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THIS SYMPTOM STARTED AND THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING ALTOGETHER. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME I HAD RAN OUT OF GAS BOTH TIMES. I KNOW THE GAGE READ 1/4 TANK BOTH TIMES. THE ACCELERATION ISSUES ALWAYS SEEM TO BEGIN WHEN THE GAS IS GETTING BELOW HALF EMPTY. IT SEEMS TO BE THE SAME FUEL SENDER ISSUE OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT, AND MAYBE IT ALSO SOMEHOW AFFECTS HOW THE TRANSMISSION PERFORMS. EITHER WAY MY FAMILY AND I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS ROGUE FOR A YEAR AND IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE OUR NEWER RELIABLE CAR. VERY UNHAPPY. CONTACTED THE DEALER BUT THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT BEFORE CHARGING ME AND SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ROGUES. OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE TURNING A BLIND EYE. *TR
SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS, ROGUE WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN TRYING TO GO FROM STOPPED POSITION. NO POWER TO GO UPHILL OR PULL INTO TRAFFIC. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, ONLY OCCASIONALLY, BUT IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. YESTERDAY, CAR DID THIS WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEED OF 55+ MPH. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT SLOWED WHILE ALREADY AT HIGH SPEED. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS VEHICEL AND WE ARE PARKING IT FOR NOW AS THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENCES WHERE SHE HAS ALMOST BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING CARS. *TR

WHILE ME AND MY CHILD WERE TRAVELING UPHILL ON A BUSY FREEWAY, I NOTICED THE CAR WAS DECELERATING. NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED ON THE PEDAL TO INCREASE THE SPEED, THE CAR CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN. COST TO REPAIR ESTIMATE BY DEALERSHIP AT $4,500.00. NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON TRANSMISSION TO 120,000 MILES DUE TO ISSUES WITH CVT, BUT SINCE THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR WAS 600 MILES OVER THAT, THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIR. THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE IS THAT IT IS SHOWING A QUARTER TANK OF GAS, BUT IN REALITY THERE IS NO GAS AT ALL. THE CAR STOPS ACCELARTING AND EVENTUALLY DIES. I FIRST HAD THIS PROBLEM CHRISTMAS EVE 2011. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADDED SOME GAS AFTER NOTING THE GAUGE AND THE CAR STARTED UP. ON A DRIVE FROM NC TO GA WE NOTICED THAT WE WERE LOSING ACCELERATION ON EVERY HILL ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER ABOUT 2 1/2 HOURS INTO THE DRIVE. WE COULD NOT ACCELERATE UP HILLS AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. AS WE CLIMBED THE HILLS WE LOST ACCELERATION. AFTER STOPPING FOR LUNCH THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY UNTIL ANOTHER 2 1/2 HOURS MORE WHERE THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE. TRACTOR TRAILOR TRUCKS WERE BARRELING DOWN ON US BECAUSE WE KEPT LOSING ACCELERATION. WE PULLED OFF AT AN EXIT AND BARELY COULD ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. WE PULLED INTO A NISSAN DEALER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THEY THOUGHT IT WENT INTO SAFETY MODE BUT COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THAT THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AFTER A COUPLE HOURS INTO THE DRIVE AND GOES INTO THE SAFETY MODE WHICH REDUCED ACCELERATION AND POWER. NISSAN SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT THEY CAN ONLY DO SO BY DRIVING IT MORE THAN 2 HOURS. *KB
