I CAN'T GET THE AIRBAG TO STOP FLASHING. I'VE BEEN TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP TWICE. THEY RESET IT AND THEN IT BEGINS FLASHING WITHIN DAYS.
FRAME CRACKED, CV AXLES KEEP UN-ALIGNING AND THUS CAUSING THE CAR TO HAVE ISSUES ACCELERATING.
CVT ENTERS LIMP MODE AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING 65+ MILES PER HOUR. I LOSE A LOT OF POWER WHEN THAT HAPPENS CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BE UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR GO OVER 3K RPMS.
NISAN ROUGE 2009 LOST POWER AFTER 2 HOURS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY RPM STOCK ON 2500
1. FAILURE TO ACCELERATE AND SHAKING/STALLING LIKE BEHAVIOR. WHILE ENTERING INTERSECTION, CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND CONTINUED TO FAIL TO ACCELERATE AS I DROVE THE CAR THE TWO MILES TO WORK. I THOUGHT MAYBE I DIDN'T STEP ON THE ACC. ALL THE WAY THE FIRST TIME I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A CAR, BUT REALIZED IT CONTINUED TO CRAWL ALONG UNTIL I GOT TO SPEEDS OVER 20MPH. I WAS ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES (A MINIMUM OF THREE TO INCLUDE T BONED AND REAR END TYPE COLLISIONS DURING THE TWO MILE DRIVE). GOT CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED ME THAT IT WAS NOT THE TRANSMISSION BUT IT WAS A FAULTY SENSOR SWITCH THAT TOLD THE CAR I WAS BRAKING ALTHOUGH I WAS ACCELERATING. DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO RETURN CAR TO ME UNTIL I HAD SENSOR REPLACED DUE TO SAFETY HAZARD. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OF THESE ISSUES. ADDITIONALLY, SEVERAL OF THESE ISSUES EXIST NATIONWIDE AS NOTED BY NUMEROUS ONLINE COMPLAINTS. 121000MILES. DISCUSSED IF IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION, NISSAN WAS GOING TO SEE IF THEY WOULD HELP WITH COSTS SINCE IT WAS RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 120K MILES FOR KNOWN TRANSMISSION ISSUE (WHICH I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF). NISSAN DEEMED IT WAS NOT THE TRANSMISSION, HOWEVER, COULD NOT SAY WHAT CAUSED THE SHAKING. 2. CAR STILL STUTTERED, BUT THE DRAG WAS GONE AFTER REPLACING SENSOR FOR TWO MONTHS. DRAG IS BACK AND CAR STILL SHUTTERS. WAS TOLD BY A DIFFERENT PLACE THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS SHOT. 124700 MILES. IT SHUTTERS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL IN TRAFFIC WHEN SLOWING DOWN, IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, AND A LOWER SPEEDS.
RECENT BUMP IN ROAD CAUSED SIDE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY, BUT NOT THE FRONT. NOW HAVING TO REPLACE ENTIRE SEAT BECAUSE CENSOR IS BAD ON PASSENGER AIR BAG SIDE. WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. 2008 MODELS HAVE A RECALL, BUT 2009'S DO NOT.
AFTER DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS FOR A WHILE I LOOSE ACCELERATION. AND WHEN I COME TO A STOP THE CAR WILL NOT GO FOR LIKE 5 SECONDS AFTER I STEP ON THE GAS.
WAS DRIVING ON HWY & STARTED LOSING POWER UP HILLS. CALLED DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT & THEY SAID TRANSMISSION ISSUE. HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO & THE VALVE BODY & COOLING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED THIS TIME. THERE ISN'T A BIG ENOUGH COOLING SYSTEM FOR THE TRANSM & NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. WERE 3 OTHER ROGUE'S GETTING REPAIRED FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AT THE SAME TIME. ISSUE OFTEN ARRIVES SOON AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES. DEALERSHIP SVC DEPT INDICATED THAT IT HAPPENS OFTEN AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
WHILE TAKING A FAMILY TRIP IN JULY 2017 WEEKS AGO ON I95 DRIVING AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ONCE THE SPEEDOMETER HIT 65 TO 70. AT CERTAIN TIMES TRYING TO MOVE INTO ANOTHER LANE THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING IT ALSO STARTED TO DECELERATE. IT DISPLAYED THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY THE FOLLOWING WEEK AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN TRYING TO MERGE OR MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT IS BEHIND YOU.
MY 2009 ROGUE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT WOULD BE $2200 TO FIX AND THAT IF I WAS IN A WRECK THE AIR BAGS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK. I'M SEEING A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE AND IT'S A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN THAT NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN. THE SENSOR THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED IS IN THE CAR SEAT. WHY WAS IT DESIGNED LIKE THAT??? STUPID!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN OF ST. ALBANS DEALER, LOCATED AT 4 FRANKLIN PARK W, ST ALBANS CITY, VT 05478, (888) 719-6390, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM FAILED AND THE CANISTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN AND PROVIDED AN UNKNOWN CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
NO ACCELERATION AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT AN ONE HOUR AT 70MPH. THE CAR START LOOSING POWER AND WHEN I PRESS THE GAS IT JUST SCRIM WITH NO ACCELERATION. THIS PROBLEM MANY MANY ROUGE 2009 USERS SUFFER FROM, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,054.
ITEM ONE-WHINING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING ITEM 2-ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS OFF WHEN STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION
I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT PATH ON A CITY ROAD ABOUT 35-40 MPH HOUR AROUND 7:30 EST ON A CLEAR DAY. I HAD STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD SO I PULLED OVER AND LIFTED THE HOOD. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE AND WHEN I LOOKED IN THAT DIRECTION I SAW THAT MY HEAD LAMP HAD FIRE COMING FROM IT. I PLACED WATER ON IT TO PUT OUT THE FIRE AND THERE WAS A LOUD POP THAT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED THAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN WENT OFF. I WAITED FOR MY EARDRUMS TO CALM DOWN AND WAITED TO MAKE SURE NO ADDITIONAL FIRE OR SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE CAR BEFORE APPROACHING IT.
TAKATA RECALL. AFTER THE CRASH THE AIRBAG WENT OUT BUT NOT INFLATED. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY AND BECAUSE OF A WATER BUMP THE VEHICLE MOVES AND CRASH WITH THE HIGHWAY DIVISION THROWING THE VEHICLE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND STOPED INMEDIATELY. AFTER THAT I REMOVED VERY EASY THE AIRBAG AND WALK AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE .SEATBELTS LOCKED.
AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING
AFTER DRIVING A LONG PERIOD TIME USUALLY ABOUT 40 MINUTES INTO DRIVING. CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE ACTUALLY LOSES POWER. START TO DECELERATE. THIS CAN CAUSE AND INJURY OR MAYBE DEATH WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY.
VEHICLE GOING UP HILL WILL LOOSE POWER, CVT TRANSMISSION DOES THIS RANDOMLY WHEN GOING UP ANY HILL. I AM GOING TO DIE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING CARS BEHIND ME. I AM AFRAID TO GO ANYWHERE THAT HAS AN UPHILL GRADE ON ANY ROAD.
I PURCHASED MY 2009 NISSAN ROGUE IN DECEMBER 2016 WITH 110K MILES ON IT. IN MARCH 2017 I BEGAN NOTICING ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE WHILE ON LONG TRIPS. THE FIRST LONG TRIP I TOOK WAS IN MARCH 2017 AND ABOUT 150 MILES INTO THE TRIP MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 65-70MPH WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN THE SPEED LIMIT IS 85MPH. THE ISSUE DID NOT RESOLVE ITSELF AND I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AFTER THAT. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND THAT NISSAN ACTUALLY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE BUT DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL. MY VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD BUT THE EXACT ISSUE I AM HAVING IS THE EXACT ISSUE THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED FOR. I WAS UNAWARE OF ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I DID NOT PURCHASE FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY HAVE OFFERED TO FIX THE ISSUE AT 50% COST TO ME. I AM NOT OKAY WITH PAYING 50% OF A REPAIR FOR A KNOWN DEFECT ON THEIR CVT TRANSMISSIONS FOR MY MODEL YEAR. WHY WASN'T A RECALL ISSUED ON THIS? THIS IS DANGEROUS. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED TWICE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND I SHOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE MY VEHICLE ON LONG TRIPS WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THERE IS AN INTERNAL WHISTLE IN MY TRANSMISSION AND I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR TECH AT NISSAN THAT THIS IS THE FIRST INDICATION OF THE CVT ISSUE. I WILL NOT BE PAYING FOR THIS REPAIR, A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY OTHER NISSAN CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND I WILL BE JOINING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS MATTER AS WELL.
MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A BAD SENSOR AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULD COST AT LEAST $1,200. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND WHEN IT IS SOMETHING THAT CONCERNS SAFETY, NISSAN SHOULD MAKE DUE TO IT'S PROMISE AND DO THE REPAIRS FOR THE CUSTOMER.

APPROXIMATELY FIVE SECONDS LATER, IT APPEARED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WAS REQUIRED TO PURCHASE A NEW TRANSMISSION VERSUS REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.
PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT SENSOR WARNING LIGHT REMAINS LIT AT ALL TIMESWHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT REGARDLESS IF THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR NOT.

STOP FOR GROCERIES AND WHEN I GET BACK IN THE CAR I FELT THE RIDE KIND A FUNNY, I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR WITH NO RESPONSE, CAR DIDNT GO MORE THAN 30 MILES AN HOUR, TOOK ME 1 HOUR TO GET BACK BECAUSE I COULDT GET IN THE HIGHWAY HAD TO DRIVE IN LOCAL STREETS
DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHTS ARE FLASHING.. FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ON SURFACE STREET LAST MONTH. HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. HAVE NOT TAKEN CAR TO DEALER YET. *TR
THE NISSAN ROGUE HAD A CVT TRANSMISSION REPLACED BY THE DEALER AFTER IT STOPPED RUNNING ON THE HIGHWAY IN 2013 WITH ONLY 70,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN, 2 YEARS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. NISSAN FAILED TO DO ANYTHING TO ASSIST ME THE SECOND TIME WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY BOTH TIMES. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY ISSUES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. *TR
TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND FAILS. WAS REPLACED AT 90K MILES AND HAPPEND AGAIN AT 130K MILES. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IT GOES INTO "SAFE MODE" AND THEN QUITS WHILE DRIVING
LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON INDICATING THAT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS OFF WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING THERE. (NO ACCIDENT OR BUMPS TO CAR CAUSED THIS-JUST CAME ON ONE MORNING.) TOOK TO DEALER SAID IT WAS A SENSOR BUT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT PAD FOR $2000! SAID AIRBAGS WILL NOT FUNCTION FOR PASSENGER SEAT-IT IS NOT SAFE TO RIDE THERE.
MY NISSAN ROGUE WILL PERIODICALLY STOP ACCELERATION WHILE I AM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE THE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I WILL BE GOING THE POSTED SPEED AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON, MY CAR WILL START TO DE-ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. AFTER READING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS I AM FINDING OUT THAT THIS IS DUE TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO ANYONE WHO IS DRIVING THIS CAR. ALSO, I HAVE NOTICED A LOUD NOISE WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN GEAR, WHICH I AM READING IS A SIGN THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE BUT NONE OF THE REPAIRS THAT I HAVE LISTED ARE COVERED. THIS CAR IS A PIECE OF JUNK AND I WILL NOT GET ANYTHING FOR IT UPON TRADE-IN. I AM STUCK WITH THIS CAR, AND HAVE PUT OVER $3,000 IN THIS CAR ALREADY OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS NEW AFTERMARKET MONROE/TENNECO FRONT WHEEL STRUTS, PART NUMBER: 72609/72608. THE STRUTS WERE PURCHASED FROM ADVANCE AUTO (4240 MILLER RD, COLUMBUS, GA 31909) AND PLACED IN A 2009 NISSAN ROGUE BY THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (HEADQUARTER NISSAN, 1725 WHITTLESEY RD, COLUMBUS, GA 31904, 706-225-8100) FOR MAINTENANCE WORK AND THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE STRUTS HAD FRACTURED DUE TO STRESS. THE STRUTS WERE TWO INCHES LONGER THAN THE MANUFACTURER'S STRUTS. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE TOW ALIGNMENT WAS OFF AND THE CONTROL ARM FAILED DUE TO THE FRACTURED STRUTS. THE STRUTS WERE NOT ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE NOT ORIGINAL PARTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,532.
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR WOULD START SHAKING AND MAKING FUNNY NOISES IN THE BACK. THE CAR EVENTUALLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STARTED SMOKING. TOOK IT THE DEALER WAS INFORMED IT HAD A BROKEN AXLE AND ALSO HAS COUPLER ISSUE. I HAD THE AXLE REPLACED. BUT IT STILL SHAKES AND MAKES NOISES WHEN TURNS ARE MADE. I WAS INFORMED BY A NISSAN MECHANIC THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE ROGUE.
APPROX. 63000 AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON. PASSENGER AIR BAGS NOT WORKING VEHICLE STATIONARY, NISSON WILL DO NOTHING, ALTHOUGH 2008 WERE RECALLED, MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED.
THE CAR WILL NOT GO OVER 40 MILES PER HOUR ON MOUNTAIN PASSES. IT IS VERY SCARY WHEN SHARING A 2 LANE HIGHWAY WITH TRUCKS. IT OVERHEATS AND YOU ARE STUCK. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH A 2009 ROGUE HAVING THIS ISSUE. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY NISSAN NOT BY THE CONSUMER.
WE HAVE STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT & UNTIL WE GET A SOLUTION, IN THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS MY NISSAN ROGUE STARTED MAKING TERRIBLE NOISES UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE AREA, LIKE METAL ON METAL SOUNDS. I HAD ASSUMED MAYBE MY CV BOOT NEEDED REPLACED SO I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION TODAY THAT THE SUB BODY FRAME BUSHINGS ARE COMPLETELY GONE ON 2 SPOTS. IN MY OPINION THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN SHOULD BE A RECALL OUR WARRANTY ITEM WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
THIS IS TO REPORT THE CONSTANT FLASHING AIRBAG WARNING SIGNAL ON THE PANEL OF MY VEHICLE. NOW THE SIGNAL HAS ADVANCED TO INCLUDE A PERSON WITH A BALLOON BAG IN A SITTING POSITION. I CONTACTED NISSAN SERVICE TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND ASKED IF IT COULD BE LOOKED AT AS A RECALL ITEM. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT A RECALL PROBLEM AND I WILL NEED TO PAY $128 FOR A DIAGNOSIS TEST. OF COURSE I'M NOT PAYING FOR A PROBLEM THAT IS KNOWN TO BE DEFECTED. I'M STILL WAITING ON A SERVICE MANAGER TO CALL ME REGARDING THEIR RESPONSE. IN READING ALL THE OTHER AIRBAG PROBLEMS SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHECK INTO THIS SERIOUS MATTER THAT MAY CAUSE HARM. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2012 AND IT JUST CAME TO MY ATTENTION, WHILE I WAS IN PARK, IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN MY 6 YR OLD WAS ASKING MY ABOUT WHAT THE LETTERS NEXT TO THE GEAR SHIFTER MEANT WHEN HE GRABBED THE SHIFTER, ENGAGED THE BUTTON AND PULLED IT DOWN INTO REVERSE WITHOUT ME APPLYING THE BREAK. I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, IT SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT. I THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE THAT I MIGHT NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOUT, SO I LOOKED IT UP AND THERE WAS NOTHING FOR MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER FOR THE 2015 MODELS, SOME OF THEM DID HAVE A RECALL FOR A ROLLAWAY PROBLEM. I CALLED MY DEALER AND ASKED THEM ABOUT MY PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE PROBLEM UNLESS I WANTED TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOR THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I LOOKED UP THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS AROUND A $700 FIX. IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2015 MODELS THERE COULD BE A POSSIBLITIY THAT MY VEHICLE COULD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
I BOUGHT THE CAR USED, TO GET TO WORK AND THE MANY DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT THAT I CURRENTLY HAVE (I AM BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR WITH A LOT OF SIDE EFFECTS). WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING LOCALLY WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR DIDN'T ACCELERATE. THAT'S WHEN I ALSO LEARNED THAT NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. I FOUND OUT I WAS OVER THE MILEAGE, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY I BALKED BECAUSE I KNEW OF THE MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE/HAD THIS PROBLEM AND I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A MECHANICALLY DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. IN THE MEANTIME I'M GENTLY DRIVING THE VEHICLE: SHORT TRIPS, NO HIGHWAYS AND 40 MPH OR LESS. IF WHAT I READ IS TRUE AND THE LOSS OF ACCELERATION (WHICH HAPPENED A THIRD TIME WITHIN JULY) IS THE CAR GOING INTO SAFE MODE THEN I'LL DO WHAT I CAN TO AVOID AGGRAVATING THE VEHICLE UNTIL I TAKE IT IN FOR THE NEW TRANNY COOLER. I HAVE NO PROBLEMS YET, BUT I READ ON OTHER WEBSITES THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM I N THE 2009 NISSAN ROGUE AND THAT IT IS EXPENSIVE TO GET FIXED. IF THIS IS BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, I WOULD LIKE IT FIXED BY A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR FREE.
THE CVT TRANSMISSION OIL OVERHEATS AT LONG DRIVING PERIODS AND THE TRANSMISSION / CAR GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND THE SPEED DROPS IMMEDIATELY AND SIGNIFICANTLY AND WILL NOT BE DRIVEABLE UNTIL THE OIL COOLS DOWN. VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THIS ONLY HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAYS AT HIGH SPEEDS. ALSO, AFTER THE VEHICLE ENTERS THIS "LIMP MODE", IF YOU EXIT THE HIGHWAY AND STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE WILL THEN NOT ACCELERATE PAST 5 MPH FOR A PERIOD OF 30-45 SECONDS. NISSAN KNOWS THAT THIS HAPPENS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION. BUT THEY WILL DO NO WORK ON THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THE ISSUE CANNOT BE DUPLICATED BY THE DEALER WHEN THE CAR IS BROUGHT IN, WHICH WILL ALWAYS BE THE CASE BECAUSE THE ISSUE HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR A WHILE. THIS SUDDEN DECELERATION ALMOST GOT ME KILLED BY A SEMI THAT WAS BEHIND ME WHEN MY CAR WENT INTO THIS LIMP MODE WITHOUT WARNING.
THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED IN JUNE 2016 WITH 122K MILES, JUST 7 YEARS OLD. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH 4 OTHERS IN THE SUV WHEN THE VEHICLE JERKED MADE A HOWLING NOISE AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. I WENT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WILL BE $3600. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, NISSAN NORTH AMERICAN, AND BBB BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAULTY AND MAY NOT BREAK UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. NISSAN DOES NOT WANT TO COVER THE COST NOR ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR CVT TRANSMISSIONS. THERE ARE MANY CUSTOMERS ON VARIOUS WEBSITES REPORTING TRANSMISSION FAILURES AND ALL COMPLAINTS ARE SIMILAR- FAILED TRANSMISSIONS AND NISSAN REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT BEING PAID $3000+. IT'S SHOCKING THAT A RECALL HASN'T BEEN DONE FOR THESE TRANSMISSIONS. I'VE ALREADY READ DOZENS OF HORROR STORIES ONLINE OVER THIS. I'M SHOCKED THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN A FATALITY. NOW TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS OCCURRING ONCE AGAIN AND QUITE RECENTLY AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING FOR A LIGHT. THIS HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES WITHIN THE MONTH OF MAY AND AS A LONG DISTANCE DRIVER TO AND FROM WORK EVERYDAY, I AM PETRIFIED OF WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF IT STOP SUDDENLY. I WENT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND ONCE AGAIN THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WILL BE $4100. NISSAN DOES NOT WANT TO BEAR SOME OF THE COST NOR ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR CARS/ROLLOVERS THAT HAS THE CVT (CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSIONS) MANY CUSTOMERS ON VARIOUS WEBSITES ARE REPORTING TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN NISSAN AS WELL AS ON THE BBB SITE. . ALL COMPLAINTS REPORTED FROM CUSTOMERS ARE SIMILAR- FAILED TRANSMISSIONS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION BELT BREAKS WITH CAUSED A SUDDEN STOP. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICAN, BBB, AND THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY OFFICE IN MY STATE BECAUSE NISSAN KNOWS THAT THE CVT AT TIMES MAY NOT BREAK UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. ALTHOUGH, THEY HAS BEEN NO RECALLS THE EVIDENCE TO DATE SUGGESTS THAT CVT TRANSMISSION HAS BECOME A NIGHTMARE FOR ME AS WELL AS FOR OTHER CAR OWNERS. SINCE MY TRANSMISSION FAILED IN 2013, IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION DIDN'T NOT COME OUT BUT WAS OVERHAULED DUE TO THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT THE MOMENT AND I AM AFRAID OF MY SAFETY.

I HAVE HAD MY REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION FOR TWO WEEKS AND IT IS ALREADY HAVING SIGNS OF FAILING. I HAVE NEARLY BEEN IN MULTIPLE MAJOR WRECKS BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WILL CUT OUT WHEN TRYING TO ENTER A HIGHWAY OR PULL OUT ACROSS TRAFFIC. THERE ARE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF ACCIDENTS FROM THIS ISSUE BUT NISSAN HAS NOT SAID A WORD. IT HAS THE EXACT TYPE OF FAILURE THE NISSAN PATHFINDER HAD, WHICH JUST HAD A CLASS ACTION PASSED AGAINST IT.
