MY 2011 NISSAN ROUGE STARTED DECELERATING ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN I HAD APPROX. 81,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 95 DOING 70 MPH WHEN THE POWER SUDDENLY DECREASED AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND MAKING BANGING NOISE. FORTUNATELY I WAS NEAR A SHOULDER AND COULD PULL OVER. AS DAYS WENT ON THIS OCCURRED MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY UNTIL IT HAPPENED EACH TIME I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OVER 40. I AM NOW FORCED TO TAKE BACK ROADS WHEREVER I GO SO I DON'T RISK CAUSING/BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND I'M ON BORROWED TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION GOES COMPLETELY. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION RIGHT NOW AND I NEED TO GET TO WORK. I STARTED RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND COME TO FIND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN, DANGEROUS DEFECT BY NISSAN. I'M UPSET AND EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE CAR MAKER HASN'T RECALLED THE AFFECTED CARS AND FIXED THEM. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.
CVT TRANSMISSION DECELERATES AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE OVER ONE HOUR. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER AND THEY SAY NO CODES CANNOTVFIC. ALMOST WAS IN SERIOUS ACCIDENTVON HIGHWAY WITH GRANDCHILD THREE DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS AND HAD VEGICLE TOWED OVER 5 TIMES FOR SAME ISSUR.
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE . HAD IT TOWED TO NISSAN SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE REVERSING AT A LOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND HESITATED BEFORE MOVING BACKWARDS. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) WAS DAMAGED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE EMITTED A NOISE IN THE REAR BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,347.
WHENEVER I AM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND MY VEHICLE IS ON CRUISE; THE CRUISE MECHANISM DROPS OFF AND THE SPEED STARTS TO DECLINE. YESTERDAY, THE VEHICLE WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO ZERO AND THE VEHICLE JUST COASTED ALONG THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. ONCE THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED AND RECONNECTED; THE VEHICLE WILL RUN AGAIN, BUT THE RESET ONLY LASTS FOR ABOUT A DAY OR SO. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE WHEN TRAVEL INVOLVES LONG DISTANCES SINCE 2013 NOW. YESTERDAY, WAS THE FIRST DAY THE SPEED WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN COASTING ALONG THE HIGHWAY.
I WENT TO OPEN FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND THE HANDLE COMPLETELY CAME OFF THE DOOR . VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND UNLOCKED AT THE TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROUGE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE REAR DOOR FAILED TO LOCK AND CAUSED THE DOOR TO OPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DOOR AUXILLARY NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH 51,000 MILES, AFTER TWO HOURS DRIVING STARTING LOOSING POWER AFTER ANY STOP, DIDN'T MOVE ANY DIRECTION WITH ALL THE PEDAL GAS ALL THE WAY DOWN. TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN SERVICES MANY TIMES, THEN CHANGED SENSORS, TRANSMISSION AND OTHERS STUFFS, MY WARRANTY EXPIRED FROM NISSAN AND FROM THE ONE I BOUGHT ON SIDE. AND I AM STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM, NOW ALL CHARGES ON ME. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED ANY WHERE AFTER 1 O 2 HOURS DRIVING. I HAD BEEN IN DANGEROUS SITUATION MANY TIMES. I AM PLANNED TO STOP FURTHERS PAYMENTS.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A OUT OF TOWN TRIP AND ALL OF SUDDEN LOST POWER TO ACCELERATE. I COULDN'T NOT GET ANY SPEED AND CARS WERE DRIVING UP BEHIND ME ABOUT TO HIT ME AND MY FAMILY. I COULDN'T NOT ACCELERATE ENOUGH TO PULL OVER. NISSAN ADVISED IT WAS THE CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH THEY ARE NOT RECALLING. THIS IS DANGEROUS.
I BOUGHT A USED 2011 NISSAN ROGUE IN OCTOBER 2015. ON OCTOBER 28, 2015, AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS OF DRIVING DOWN AN INTERSTATE, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE. I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW MY TACHOMETER WAS REVVED UP IN THE RED ZONE (6) AND THE CAR WAS MAKING A LOUD, FRIGHTENING NOISE AS THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO BLOW UP. I LET OFF THE GAS AND THE TACHOMETER STAYED AT 6. FRIGHTENED, I PULLED OVER SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC AND OFF THE ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND SAT THERE SHAKING. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES, I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THE NOISE WAS GONE. I PULLED BACK OUT ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, WHICH WAS EXCEEDINGLY DANGEROUS AS THERE WERE ONCOMING SEMI'S APPROACHING AT 70+ MILES PER HOUR. IT SLOWLY PICKED UP SPEED AND I DROVE 40 MPH BECAUSE IF I WENT FASTER THAN THAT, THE TACHOMETER WOULD JUMP BACK UP INTO THE RED ZONE. I MADE IT TO A REST STOP WHERE I SAT FOR A HALF HOUR WITH THE CAR OFF. IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2015 ON THE WAY TO VISIT MY SON TWO HOURS AWAY. THIS TIME, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE INDICATED THE CAR NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. IT IS STILL HAPPENING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT ALWAYS COME ON AND IF IT DOES, IT TURNS ITSELF OFF IN A DAY OR TWO. I COMMUTE TWO HOURS TO WORK AND BACK A DAY AND WITH THE WARMER (70 PLUS) WEATHER, THE PROBLEM HAS WORSENED. I HAVE TO STOP HALFWAY TO WORK AND HALFWAY BACK TO LET THE CAR COOL OFF. I'VE ALSO NOTICED A "STUTTERING", IN WHICH THE INDICATOR ON THE TACHOMETER MOVES RAPIDLY BACK AND FORTH AROUND THE ONE AND A HALF MARK AND THE CAR SHAKES. THIS GOES AWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS BUT OCCURS WHEN I AM INCHING ALONG IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER YESTERDAY (6.8.16). WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM (AND GOT VIDEO OF THE TRANSMISSION REVVING UP AND STAYING AT 5 AND THE LOUD NOISE WHILE LOSING POWER DOWN TO 20 MPH). WARRANTY COMPANY REFUSING TO PAY SO FAR.
THE CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHUDDER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER A STOP IN A PARKING LOT. THIS CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. WITHIN EIGHT HOURS THE PROBLEM BECAME SO PRONOUNCED THAT THE CAR HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME GETTING INTO GEAR AND MOVING FORWARD AFTER COMING TO A STOP. THE CAR SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY TRYING TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEED. BY THE TIME I GOT IT TO THE DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION "WAS SHOT"
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. AFTER TWENTY MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED AS NORMAL BUT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OVER HEATING AND A SECOND CVT COOLER KIT WOULD NEED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
I STARTED MY VEHICLE ON THE MORNING OF THE 19TH AND I DID HEAR A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD HEARD THAT NOISE BEFORE AND HAD TO TAKE MY 7 YEAR OLD TO AN APPOINTMENT. WE GOT A FEW MILES FROM OUR HOME AND AS WE WERE GOING UP A STEEP HILL THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY AND WOULD NOT GO ANY FURTHER. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY TO MYSELF OR MY CHILD IN THE CAR AS THE CAR STOPPED AND WOULD NOT MOVE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OR ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS AND THE CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. I HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO THE CLOSEST MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE SERIOUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED CONTACTING THE DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS.
THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS CAR OVERHEATS AFTER DRIVING (SLIGHTLY) UPHILL FOR OVER 5 MILES OR ANYTIME IT'S DRIVEN OVER AN HOUR. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO LOSE ACCELERATION. MOST RECENTLY, IT OVERHEATED SO BADLY THAT I COULD PUSH THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT DIDN'T MOVE AT ALL. I'VE SINCE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF, BUT IS NOT OFFERING TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR STATE A RECALL. THEY WILL INSTALL A TRANSMISSION COOLING KIT FOR $850 AT THE CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. THE EXPENSE ASIDE, CONSUMERS NEED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT AS LOSS OF ACCELERATION AT HIGH SPEEDS CAN CAUSE DEADLY ACCIDENTS. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS.
MY 2011 NISSAN ROGUE WAS NEW WHEN I PURCHASED IT. ON JULY 15, 2015, WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED VIBRATING VIOLENTLY WITH A LOUD NOISE AND STOPPED SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT WARNING! I HAD 3 KIDS IN THE CAR AND WE COULD'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT! I COULD SHIFT IT INTO GEAR BUT IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE OR MOVE. A DIAGNOSTIC DISCOVERED IT'S THE TRANSMISSION AS SUSPECTED. I HAVE 118K HIGHWAY MILES ON IT AND HAVE BEEN GETTING REGULAR AND SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM SINCE I MADE A CLAIM TO NISSANSUPPORT. THEY WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE OR TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE POOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND STATED THAT IT WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY. WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR NISSAN TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ENDANGERING LIVES? THE DEATH OF A WIFE, HUSBAND, MOTHER, FATHER, SISTER, BROTHER...A CHILD?
2011 NISSAN ROGUE SLOWS AND STOPS SUDDENLY IN TRAFFIC WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH IN CENTER LANE. NO WARNING. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OR MOVE. TRANSMISSION! THANK GOD OTHER CARS SWERVED TO AVOID ME AND THE 3 KIDS IN THE CAR WERE NOT HURT! IT'S GOING TO TAKE $4000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. NISSAN'S EXTENDED WARRANTY (10YRS OR 120,000 MILES) ENDED WITH THEIR 2010 VEHICLES. IT NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO 2011 VEHICLES OR ANY WITH CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM! OR NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL SUCH VEHICLES. PREVENT A LOVED ONE FROM DYING! *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A LONG ROAD TRIP, TWO HOURS INTO THE RIDE MY 2011 NISSAN ROGUE DECELERATED AND WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 60 MPH. I WAS GOING ABOUT 75 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT DECELERATED, WHILE I WAS FLOORING THE GAS TO 60MPH. THE GAS PEDDLE WAS COMPLETELY FLOORED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS FIGHTING TO STAY AT 60 MPH. THE CAR STARTED VIBRATING WAS LOUD SOUNDING LIKE IT HAD NO POWER. THEN WHEN I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CAME TO A STOP THE CAR WAS VERY DELAYED TO ACCELERATE AT ALL, AS IF IT HAD NO POWER. I REFUELED AT A LITTLE OVER A HALF TANK AND FOR THE FIRST TIME THE GAS GAUGE DID NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT MILES OR MOVE THE DIAL. ONCE I BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN, AFTER 20 MINUTES THE CAR AGAIN SLOWED AND WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 60MPH. ONCE RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE GAS GAUGE DID READ ACCURATELY. THIS OCCURRED ONCE BEFORE WHEN THE ROGUE HAD ABOUT 70K MILES ON IT AND THIS LAST INCIDENT THE CAR HAS 96K MILES. ON THE FIRST OCCASION THE ROUGE WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 50MPH. I BOUGHT THE ROGUE BRAND AND HAVE KEPT UP WITH THE REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WHILE LIVING IN NY AND SEEMED TO START WHEN DRIVING OVER AN HOUR OR SO ON THE HIGHWAY, IN THE FLORIDA HEAT. I DID NOT TAKE IT TO GET CHECKED OUT AFTER READING VARIOUS FORUMS THAT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE NISSAN WILL NOT FIX. THE BAG EXPLODED AND CRASHED
WAS DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE ENGAGED. CRUISE WOULD ABRUPTLY DISENGAGE CAUSING THE SPEED TO FALL RAPIDLY, AND ACCELERATOR WOULD CEASE TO WORK WITH GAS PEDAL PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. WOULD ALSO DECREASE SPEED WHEN CLIMBING HILLS. NEAR COLLISION TOOK PLACE AND THIS IS MY FAMILY CAR IN WHICH I ALWAYS HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN WITH ME. THIS HAPPENED ON MORE THEN ONE OCCASION AND WOULD RESULT IN MY HAVING TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESET THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE HURT OR KILLED. PROBLEM PERSISTED AND LEFT ME STRANDED IN AN INTERSECTION AS WELL. DEALER SAYS IT'S THE TRANS COOLER FAILING TO KEEP THE TRANSMISSION FROM OVERHEATING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. REPAIR WILL COST BETWEEN $1100 AND $1300. CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS AT NISSAN AND THEY HAVE DECIDED IT'S NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE THAT HAS CAUSED THIS. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FOUR YEARS AGO AND ONLY HAS 72,000 MILES. THAT RESPONSE IS UNACCEPTABLE. HAD I KNOW THE TRANNY WOULD FAIL WITHIN THAT TIME I NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. MY RECOMMENDATION, DO NOT BUY A NISSAN. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. ALL MODELS OF ROGUE BEFORE THIS HAD THEIR CVT WARRANTIES DOUBLED TO 120,000 MILES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM SO WHY NOT THE 2011? IT'S THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM! EXTREMELY UNHAPPY AND WILL BE FIGHTING THIS. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE BBB AND MY LAWYER. IF YOU'RE HAVING THIS PROBLEM THEN FILE A COMPLAINT. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN, AND WILL BOYCOTT THEM TILL THE END OF TIME. POOR VEHICLE, POOR SERVICE, POOR RESPONSE TO CONSUMER'S. STEER CLEAR IF YOU'RE SMART!
WHEN WE DRIVE OUR ROGUE FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR, THE TRANSMISSION STOPS WORKING AND THE VEHICLE LOSES ACCELERATION. IT WILL HAPPEN WITHOUT WARNING AND IS DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE. IF WE PULL OVER AND LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE, IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS, BUT REPEATED CALLS TO NISSAN RESULT IN BEING TOLD IT HAPPENED JUST AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND WILL COST UPWARDS OF $3000 TO REPLACE. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS BY NISSAN FOR THIS PROBLEM ON EARLIER MODELS, BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE 2011 MODELS AS WELL.
I WAS DRIVING FROM DENVER TO RATON, NM. ON I-25 OUTSIDE PUEBLO, I WAS GOING ABOUT 80 MILES AN HOUR UP A HILL. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE SPEED QUICKLY DROPPED TO 45 MPH. I HAD THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO PUT MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON, SO OTHER DRIVERS WOULD KNOW I WAS HAVING CAR TROUBLE. THIS HAPPENED ON FOUR OR MORE INCLINES INCLUDING RATON PASS WHERE I COULDN'T GET THE CAR OVER 25 MPH UNTIL I WAS GOING DOWNHILL. ON THE RETURN DRIVE, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. ON MY DRIVE TO BRECKENRIDGE A FEW DAYS AGO, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND QUICKLY LOSING SPEED ON THE FREEWAY IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I WILL GET A DIFFERENT CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ONCE I STARTED RESEARCHING ONLINE, I SAW SEVERAL OTHER ROGUE OWNERS' COMMENTS ABOUT THIS KNOWN BUT IGNORED ISSUE.

IN AUGUST, RELOCATED FROM TN TO GA, APPROXIMATELY A 3 HOUR TRIP, AND THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. TOOK THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION, CAR WAS THERE FOR ALMOST A MONTH AS THE ROOT CAUSE WAS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION SETTING THAT PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING IF THE TRANSMISSION GOT TOO HOT. GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT CRUISING SPEED WITH SPEED CONTROL SET I NOTICED THAT THE WHEN CLIMBING A HILL WE WERE LOSING EXCESSIVE SPEED AND THE ENGINE SPEED WOULD NOT INCREASE. I DISENGAGED THE SPEED CONTROL AND MANUALLY TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT INCREASE OVER 2500 RPMS. I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO EXIT UP AN OFF RAMP AND COULD NOT CLIMB THE RAMP FASTER THAN 10MPH. WE ALLOWED THE ROGUE TO SIT FOR 10 MIN.'S THINKING THAT IS WAS OVERHEATING. WHEN WE RESUMED THE TRIP THE ROGUE WAS ACTING NORMAL AGAIN. UNTIL THE RETURN TRIP WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED. SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, BUT THE 2011 MODEL WAS NOT COVERED. IN MY OPINION ANY SYSTEM THAT DISENGAGES THE ACCELERATION SYSTEM WHILE TRAVELING THE INTERSTATE IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. HAVING DRIVEN AND WORKED ON CARS ALL MY LIFE, I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE THAT SCARED ME LIKE THIS. IT IS NOT A COMFORTABLE FEELING LOOKING IN THE MIRROR TO SEE A SEMI GAINING ON YOU AND THERE IS BASICALLY NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ROUGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER ENGAGING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED TO ITS NORMAL OPERATIONS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVEN DIFFERENT TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,400.
