TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKES OCCASIONALLY FAILED TO ENGAGE WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RELATED THE FAILURE TO AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 230,000.
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN PICKUP WHICH I DRIVE MAINLY IN THE WINTER DUE TO MY JOB REQUIRING ME TO GO INTO WORK IN EVERY SNOW STORM. I HAVE ONLY 128,000 MI ON MY TRUCK. THE TRUCK SITS IN THE SUMMER TO SAVE ON GAS. AFTER THE TRUCK SAT FOR THREE MONTHS THIS SUMMER HAD TO CHANGE A LEAKY OIL PAN FROM RUST. ONCE THAT WAS FIXED I TOOK IT OUT TO READY IT FOR INSPECTION. WHILE DRIVING CAME TO A STOP SIGN BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. TRIED PUMPING PEDAL AND HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL. ENGAGED THE E BRAKE AND HAD VERY LITTLE YET NEXT TO NO STOPPING FROM THAT. ENDED UP CONSTANTLY PUMPING BRAKES WITH NO SECONDARY CIRCUIT ENGAGING. I CONTINUED TO GO THROUGH 2 MORE STOP SIGNS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP. LUCKILY IT WAS LATER AT NIGHT AND THERE WASN'T MANY CARS ON THE ROAD OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A BAD ACCIDENT. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCK TOWED HOME I HAD PULLED THE LEFT FRONT INNER FENDER LINER OUT TO DISCOVER 2 JUNCTION BLOCKS WITH 3 LINES COMING IN AND GOING OUT. ALL THREE LINES HAD BURST AT THE SAME TIME CAUSING ME TO LOOSE ALL BRAKES. I TOOK A PICTURE OF THIS SO EVERYONE CAN SEE. NISSAN SHOULD PROVIDE AN EXTRA COVERING OR SOMETHING TO KEEP THE ROAD SALT FROM GETTING TO THESE LINES BECAUSE AS THESE TRUCKS GET OLDER I AM SURE PEOPLE WILL EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING AS ME BUT, MAY NOT BE AS LUCKY TO AVOID A BAD CRASH.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER 2005 TITAN LE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A BRAKING ISSUE 8-10 TIMES. WHILE DRIVING IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS ON THE FREEWAY TRAFFIC BEGINS TO SLOW, I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE ENTIRE TRUCK BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHUTTER, THE RED BRAKE ICON ON THE DASH CAME ON, AND THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO PULL TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE HARDER YOU PUSH THE MORE THE BRAKES SEEM TO FAIL AND THE TRUCK SHAKES HARDER. THE ONLY THING THAT FIXES THE ISSUE IS TO STOP THE TRUCK AND TURN IT OFF AND RESTART IT. EVERYTHING GOES BACK TO NORMAL AS IF IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 8-10 TIMES SINCE OWNING THIS TRUCK AS NEW. I HAVE READ MANY INCIDENTS ONLINE IN BLOGS ETC.THAT ARE ALMOST EXACTLY AS I HAVE DESCRIBED. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I WHOLE HEARTILY DISAGREE WITH THEM. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS ULTIMATELY GOING TO CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, NORMAL RESIDENTIAL SPEEDS (25MPH) AND EVERYWHERE IN BETWEEN. LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 11/8/2017.
THE BRAKES FAILED DUE TO A PIN HOLE IN THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE LINE. THERE ARE THREE FITTINGS THAT ARE IN THE SAME LOCATION ON THE TRUCK. ALL THREE SHOWED SIGNS OF CORROSION. THE ONE THAT FAILED LOOKS LIKE IT HAD BEEN DAMAGED ON INSTALLATION. THIS TRUCK IS OVER 11 YEARS OLD AND HAS SPENT MOST OF THE TIME OUTSIDE. IT HAS BEEN LOCATED IN SOUTH FLORIDA THE ENTIRE TIME SO HAS NOT SEEN ANY SALT. ALL THE OTHER FITTINGS AND LINES LOOK FINE. YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE THE FLAT SPOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE HOLE. THERE HAS BEEN NO WORK DONE ON THIS LINE SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NEW. (I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER) I HAVE THE FAILED LINE. I REPAIRED IT MYSELF WITH PARTS FROM THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE TRUCK ON MY PROPERTY AND THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT INVOLVED. SEE ATTACHED PHOTO OF THE HOLE IN THE LINE. THIS LINE COMES FROM THE ABS UNIT TO A FITTING CLOSE TO THE FRONT WHEEL.
THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE PADS FELL OF THE SHOES INSIDE THE REAR DISK DRUM, AND WEDGED INSIDE CAUSING THE REAR TIRE TO LOCKUP, FOR A SECOND, AND CAUSE THE TRUCK TO JERK AND MAKE A LOUD NOISE. *TR
I NOTICED A BLACK DARK GREASE ON THE INNER RIM AND AXLE HUB. I WAS TOLD BY A NEIGHBOR WITH THE SAME MAKE AND YEAR THAT THIS IS A LEAKING BEARING SEAL AND THAT THE ENTIRE AXLE HAS TO BE REPLACED. I CONSIDER THIS A HAZARD IF THE BEARING SEAL HAS LEAKED ALL OVER THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND SHOES. *KB
2005 NISSAN TITAN. CONSUMER HAD RECALL WORK FOR BRAKE JUDDER. THE REPAIRS WERE DONE EVEN THOUGH THE CONSUMER WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS. SOMETIME AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE NOISES . *KB THE CONSUMER STATED HE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE OCCASIONAL SHUTTERING IN THE FRONT WHEELS WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAS CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE BRAKE PROBLEMS TO THE POINT WHERE THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING, IT IS LEAKING SO BAD THAT IT IS ALL OVER MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES. I NOTICED THE BRAKES SLIPPING YESTERDAY WHEN I TRYING TO STOP ON THE HIGHWAY. 05 NISSAN TITAN. *TR

THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AUG 11, 2010 WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN TRUCK IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT 65 MPH. 2.THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN I HAD TO APPLY FOOT PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC CONGESTION. AS SOON AS BRAKE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL FIVE THINGS HAPPENED: A. THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SOFTER THAN NORMAL. B. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT FURTHER DOWN TOWARD THE FLOORBOARD THAN NORMAL. C. I HEARD A POPPING/PULSATING SOUND AS I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES. D. I HEARD A GRINDING SOUND AS I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES. E. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL RED BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I HAD NO CHOICE, BUT TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO AVOID CREATING AN ACCIDENT EVEN THOUGH IT SOUNDED AND FELT LIKE BRAKE FAILURE WAS OCCURRING. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS TYPE OF BRAKE INCIDENT/FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON MY 2005 NISSAN TITAN. THE PREVIOUS TWO TIMES THIS BRAKE INCIDENT/FAILURE OCCURRED AT A MUCH LOWER SPEEDS AND I COULD NOT FIND RELATION TO WHAT WAS OCCURRING WHEN I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. 3. ONCE I HAD THE VEHICLE BACK UNDER CONTROL I TURNED INTO A LOW TRAFFIC SIDE STREET AND SLOWLY TESTED THE BRAKES, BUT ALL FIVE SYMPTOMS FROM ABOVE WERE STILL OCCURRING. I ALSO TRIED GOING IN REVERSE VERY SLOWLY, BUT THE SYMPTOMS REMAINED. I COMPLETELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION KEY AND GOT OUT TO INSPECT THE TRUCK. I COULD NOT SEE ANY VISIBLE DAMAGE TO FRONT ROTORS OR CALIPERS AND I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, BUT NOTHING APPEARED TO BE WRONG. I TURNED THE IGNITION BACK ON AND THE RED BRAKE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF AND THE BRAKES WERE BACK TO NORMAL. I DO NOT FEEL THAT FAILURE HAS BEEN CORRECTED AND THAT IS WHY I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I FEEL THERE IS SAFETY ISSUE AT HAND. TRUCK WILL NOT BRAKE QUICKLY. I HAVE HAD TO RUN OFF THE ROAD MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO CARS IN FRONT OF ME BRAKING. TRUCK HAS TROUBLE SLOWING DOWN.
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN TITAN KING CAB, WHICH I PURCHASED IT IN NOVEMBER OF 2005. AFTER, APPROXIMATELY 30DAYS OF OWNERSHIP AND 500 MILES OF TRAVEL; THE FRONT BRAKES BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE COMPLICATIONS (THEY WOULD SHUDDER WHILE BRAKING AND CREATE AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF BRAKE DUST.) I QUICKLY RETURN TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT, FOR SERVICING. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE ROTORS. DURING THE SUMMER OF 2006, I BEGAN TO NOTICE A MUSTY ODOR EMITTING FROM THE FLOOR AND CARPETING OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND REQUESTED THE MECHANIC TO INSPECT THE TRUCK FOR THE CAUSE OF THE ODOR. THEY COULDN'T LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR. I RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS, DURING THE SUMMER OF 2007 ODOR REAPPEARED; THEY REPLACED THE RUBBER GASKET AROUND DOOR WINDOWS IN HOPES OF RESOLVING THE ISSUE. MEANWHILE THE FRONT BRAKES ROTORS WERE REPLACED AGAIN AND THE GAUGES (FUEL, OIL, TACH ,VOLTMETER) ACTING ERRATICALLY. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE BRAKES UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY & PRORATED MY PURCHASE OF A NEW NISSAN AUTO BATTERY; ACCORDING TO SERVICE DEPT. THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE GAUGES MALFUNCTION. THEN AGAIN IN2008, I WAS TOLD THE BRAKES WERE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT THE MUSTY ODOR WAS CAUSED BY WATER COMING INTO THE CABIN VIA A SMALL VOID IN THE WINDOW SEALANT AROUND THE "FACTORY INSTALLED WINDSHIELD' UPON HEARING THIS, I CHOSE TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO ANOTHER MECHANIC DUE TO NISSAN MECHANIC INABILITY TO RESOLVE THE BRAKE ISSUE & LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE WATER. THIS YEAR 2009, THE REAR END WAS REPAIRED DUE THE SEALS LEAKING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PREVENTIVE REPLACEMENT ON THE PASSENGER SEALS. HOWEVER, A FEW OLD ISSUES ALONG WITH NEW ONES THAT STILL EXIST. MY NEW MECHANIC TOLD ME THE SOURCE OF THE WATER & ODOR ISSUE IS THE A/C CONDENSER LEAKING INTO THE CABIN, THE BLINKING AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT WAS DUE TO A HARNESS NEEDING REPLACING IN THE REAR DOORS. *TR

I THINK THE BRAKE SYSTEM IN MY 2005 TITAN IS INADEQUATE. THE FRONT DISC ROTORS WERE BENT @ 20000 MILES AND REPLACED BY NISSAN FOR THIS DEFECT BUT AT 60000 MILES, THE FRONT DISC ROTORS WERE BENT AGAIN. MAKING STOPPING THIS TRUCK HAZARDOUS AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND IT TOOK MUCH FARTHER TO STOP. I CHECK THE DISC ROTORS AND THE BRAKE PADS AND THEY ARE NORMAL. MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL UNDER BRAKING. NISSAN HAS IDENTIFIED THAT 2004 AND EARLY 2005 TITANS WERE BUILT WITH BRAKE ROTORS THAT ARE TOO SMALL, RESULTING IN THE ROTORS WARPING DUE TO OVERHEATING. NISSAN CALLS THIS ISSUE BRAKE JUDDERING AND HAS ISSUED THREE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING FIXING THE PROBLEM BY INSTALLING AN UPGRADED (BIGGER ROTORS) BRAKE KIT. NISSAN EXTENDED THE BRAKE WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE TO 36 MONTHS/36,000MILES. I AM UNDER THE MILEAGE LIMIT (31,000) BUT HAVE EXCEEDED THE TIME LIMIT BY ONE MONTH. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I FEEL THEY NEED TO BE WILLING TO REPLACE THE ROTORS FOR ANY VEHICLE ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH THE UNDERSIZED ROTORS. PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN TITAN IN 2/2005. HAD THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACED AT 25,000 UNDER WARRANTY WHEN BEGAN TO FEEL VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. PRESENTLY I HAVE 57,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND THE SAME VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES IS HAPPENING AGAIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED A UPDATED TORQUE MEMBER KIT AND NEW FRONT PADS AND BRAKES FOR MY TRUCK AT A COST OF $756.59 BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID TO TAKE MY COMPLIANT TO THE FACTORY. I HAVE CALLED REPEATEDLY TO THE FACTORY AND AM STILL WAITING FOR A CALL BACK. DRIVING MY TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND I AM RISKING MY LIFE EVERYDAY I GET INTO IT TO DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK. MY MAJOR COMPLIANT WITH THIS ISSUE IS THAT IT IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE, IT IS A MANUFACTURED DEFECT IN THE TORQUE MEMBER KIT AND FRONT BRAKES AND I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST. *TR
I BELIEVE THAT THE NISSAN TITANS HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THEIR BRAKES. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW IN 2005 WITH 14 MILES SHOWING ON THE ODOMETER. AFTER THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED A LOT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I NEVER LEAVE MY FOOT ON OR RIDE THE BRAKE PEDAL NOR DO I USE THE BRAKES EXCESSIVELY, MOST OF THE MILES ON THE VEHICLE ARE HIGHWAY MILES BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS USED MOSTLY FOR VACATION PURPOSES. I DO HOWEVER TOW A SMALL 6 BY 12 FOOT BOX TRAILER WITH 4 BICYCLES IN IT, WHICH MAKES FOR A LIGHT LOAD. IT HAS CONTINUED TO PROGRESS AND BECOME MORE PRONOUNCED AS THE VEHICLE AGES. AT AROUND 13,000 MILES THE BRAKES SOMETIMES GRAB OR WOULD NOT STOP WITH OUT APPLYING EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL MUCH MORE THAN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEW, THIS WOULD BRING THE TRUCK TO A SHAKING, ROUGH OR SOMETIMES TIRE SQUEALING STOP. AT 13,300 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, THEY SAID THEY COULD TRY MACHINING THE ROTORS FOR AROUND $440 OR REPLACE THE ROTORS WHICH WOULD COST QUITE A BIT MORE, HOWEVER THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE TRUCK STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 14,991 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I FEEL IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ROTORS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE OUT OF ABOUT 10 NEW VEHICLES THAT I PURCHASED WHICH HAS BRAKE PROBLEMS. *TR
