OUR 2007 NISSAN VERSA HAS A IGNITION STARTING PROBLEM. IT IS A BRAND NEW CAR AND WILL NOT START. YOU HAVE TO CRANK IT TO GET IT TO START. THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ACROSS NORTH AMERICA ON THIS PROBLEM. THE SALES MANAGER AT ORLANDO NISSAN TOLD ME I WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND I ALREADY KNOW OTHERS HAVE FAILED AT GETTING THIS PROBLEM FIXED NUMEROUS TIMES. THIS IS A MATERIAL DEFECT AND I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY WIFE AND SEVEN YEAR OLD. IT ALSO HAS A LOUD CLICKING IN THE CAR WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL HARD TO THE LEFT. THERE IS NO FIX AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS WILL SURELY STRING THIS OUT AND COST US TIME AWAY FROM WORK AND HOME AND REPLACE OTHER THINGS THAT ARE NOT CAUSING IT JUST TO LOOK PROACTIVE. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT AND WOULD LIKE THE DEPARTMENT TO CONSIDER INVESTIGATING THIS TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR AN UNSAFE ENGINE. *TR
THE RECENT MODELS OF NISSAN AUTOMOBILES HAVE A SERIOUS "GUILLOTINE" HAZARD! I HAVE RENTED TWO SEDANS IN THE LAST FOUR WEEKS AND NOTED THIS DEFECT. THE WINDOW-CONTROL WIRING APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN REVERSED, SINCE THERE IS NO "EXPRESS" DOWNWARD OPENING OF THE WINDOW. IF THE OPERATING SWITCH FOR THE DRIVER'S-SIDE WINDOW IS LIFTED, THE WINDOW COMPLETELY CLOSES EVEN WHEN THE SWITCH IS RELEASED. THE UPWARD FORCE OF THE WINDOW CANNOT BE RESTRAINED BY HAND AND IS PROBABLY GREATER THAN 20 POUNDS. THIS MIGHT ACTUALLY DECAPITATE A SMALL CHILD AND WOULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO AN ADULT. *TR
ENGINE WILL NOT START ON FIRST ATTEMPT....JUST DRY CRANKING. ON THE SECOND TRY, IT USUALLY STARTS. MY 2008 VERSA ONLY HAS 2,300 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE WITH EACH DAY. I HAVE READ REPORTS THAT REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP SOLVES THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY, BUT OFTEN TIMES PEOPLE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE FUEL PUMPS REPLACED AFTER VERY SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. HUBCAPS FLY OFF. MANY COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET FORUMS. I SEE A LOT OF VERSAS ON THE STREET MISSING HUBCAPS. *TR
CAR STOPPED WORKING, LOST POWER, OIL LEAKING EVERYWHERE. *TR
CAR COMPLETELY DIED OUT AND SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR INTERSECTION AT 35 MILES PER HOUR. ON AUGUST 20 / 2008 THE CAR REPEATED THE SAME FAILURE IN TRAFFIC AT 45 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN STARTED THE VEHICLE IT WANTS TO CHOKE UP AND STALL, AT LEAST 20 TIMES SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE ON FEB. 18 / 2008. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE THAT I PAID CASH FOR NOW. THE DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE ARE SAYING THAT THEY CANT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER WILLING TO CORRECT THESE SERIOUS FAILURES AND ISSUE. THEY ARE DEMANDING THAT I PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND HAVE NOT RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS. THEY HAVE ALSO DENIED ME A LOANER VEHICLE AND I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS NOW. I AM SEEKING LEGAL REPRESENTATION TO THIS MATTER AND HAVE BECOME VERY DISCOURAGED. *TR
AS I WAS ENTERING AN ON RAMP TO 676 EAST IN PHILADELPHIA, PA, I HEARD A CRUNCH (METAL ON METAL) IN MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE . I ATTEMPTED TO STRAIGHTEN OUT MY CAR AFTER THE SLIGHT RIGHT TURN AND MY RIGHT TIRE WAS NOT REACTING TO MY TURNING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I HIT THE BRAKE A BIT AND TRIED TO SLOW THE CAR WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO FISH TAIL. AT THIS INSTANCE I GAVE THE VEHICLE SOME GAS TO TRY AND REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT I WAS ALREADY IN A SPIN THAT CAUSED ME TO COMPLETELY LOSE CONTROL AND I ATTEMPTED TO GAIN CONTROL, BUT I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. AS THE CAR SPUN PAST 360 DEGREES, I WENT OVER AN ISLAND AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP ONCE I TOOK OUT THE STOP SIGN ON THIS ISLAND. LUCKILY NO BODY WAS HURT AND I MANAGED TO NOT HIT ANY VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS WAITING FOR A TWO TRUCK AND PHILADELPHIA POLICE, THE VEHICLE AND MYSELF MADE OUR WAY TO A BODY SHOP IN LANSDALE, PA. AFTER EXAMINATION FROM THE MECHANICS AT THIS BODY SHOP (J.L. FREED) I WAS TOLD THAT THE STRUT ASSEMBLY IN MY FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WAS IN 3 PIECES. THIS WAS EVIDENT TO ME THAT SOMETHING MECHANICALLY WENT WRONG AS I WAS MAKING THAT SLIGHT RIGHT ON THE EVENING OF JULY 23, 2008. NOW, I WAS GIVEN MY ESTIMATE FOR THE DAMAGES AND THE PARTS THAT NEED TO ORDERED AND REPLACED. I FEEL THAT NISSAN NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS EVENT AS I WAS JUST AT A NISSAN DEALER (MONTGOMERYVILLE NISSAN) 3 WEEKS PRIOR (JULY 05, 2008) TO HAVE MY CAR INSPECTED. I HAVE YET TO FIND OUT IF MONTGOMERYVILLE NISSAN SAW ANY TYPE OF POTENTIAL FAILURE IN THIS SPECIFIC STRUT ASSEMBLY THAT MALFUNCTIONED AND SPLIT APART CAUSING MY ACCIDENT. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF THIS INCIDENT AS THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATALITY OF MYSELF OR ANOTHER IF I WAS SAY ON THE HIGHWAY THIS STRUT ASSEMBLY DECIDED TO FALL APART. *TR
VEHICLE STARTED TAKING LONG CRANK TIMES, MULTIPLE CRANKS TO START ENGINE. INFORMED DEALER OF PROBLEM AND THAT PRIOR MODELS OF VERSA HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. DEALER SAYS THIS VEHICLE MANUFACTURED AFTER DATE OTHER PROBLEMS WERE FIXED. OBVIOUSLY NOT SINCE THIS PROBLEM PERSISTS IN MODELS MANUFACTURED AFTER PREVIOUS BULLETIN DATE. CONCERNED THAT ONE DAY VEHICLE WILL NOT START AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. LONG CRANK TIMES NOT DEPENDENT ON WEATHER, TEMPERATURE OR LEVEL OF FUEL IN TANK. *TR
MY VERSA HAS 7K MILES AND IS 4 MONTHS OLD. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE LONG CRANKING TIME FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW. ITS INTERMITTENT BUT I DO WORRY THAT IT WON'T START, HAVE TO TAP THE GAS TO GET IT TO START. *TR
2008 NISSAN VERSA; PURCHASED NEW. CURRENTLY UNDER 2,000 MILES ON ODOMETER. EXTREMELY LONG CRANK TIMES BEFORE ENGINE TURNS OVER. VEHICLE BROUGHT BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY SERVICE TO CORRECT PROBLEM. AFTER KEEPING VEHICLE FOR A DAY DEALERSHIP INFORMED THAT THEY "COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" AND COULDN'T/WOULDN'T ATTEMPT TO FIX OR DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. 5 TO 10 SECOND CRANK TIMES WITHOUT VEHICLE STARTING UP - ON A DAILY BASIS - IS A SERIOUS CONCERN. *TR

NEEDS NEW FUEL PUMP JUST THREE DAYS IN. NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH VERSA EVER AND THEN IT ALL OF A SUDDEN LEFT ME ON ROAD. THREE TOP MECHANICS ARE CONFUSED WHY MY 2008 ALREADY NEEDS A FUEL PUMP. THEY SAID THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE BROKEN AND THE PART IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO ORDER BECAUSE IT SHOULDN'T EVEN BE BROKEN THREE YEARS IN. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER FIRST AND THEY SAID I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP AND THEY DECLINED TO MENTION WHY OR HOW IT COULD HAPPENED. THEY SEEM LIKE THEY KNOW SOMETHING AND WONT SHARE. *TR
I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN ONE WEEK. THE MILEAGE IS CURRENTLY AT ABOUT 275 MILES. WHEN I TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE CAR DOESN'T START UNTIL I HOLD THE KEY TURNED FOR AT LEAST 5 SECONDS. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE IT SEEMS AS IF IT WILL NOT START. THIS HAPPENS DAILY, WHETHER IT IS HOT OR COLD OUTSIDE. IT IS NOT CONTINGENT ON THE TIME OF DAY EITHER. *TR
NEW CAR 10 MILES - STRONG PULSATION IN THE BRAKES, STEERING WHEEL SHAKES. CAR COVERED IN SAND - IN THE FRAME, OVER THE GAS TANK, ALL OVER THE ENGINE. *TR
AFTER VEHICLE RUNS FOR A WHILE, THEN LEFT TO SIT FOR ABOUT 1-1/2 HOURS, STARTING THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT. LONG CRANK TIME. TOOK TO DEALER WHERE PURCHASED. WAS TOLD BY NISSAN VEHICLE DID NOT APPLY TO TSB NTB-07-094. NISSAN TECHNICAL SUPPORT TOLD TECHNICIAN TO MEASURE FUEL DROP AFTER RUNNING VEHICLE, THEN LET SIT FOR 30 MINUTES. MEASURE THE FUEL PRESSURE. IF LESS THEN 30 PSI, REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AND PACKING. FUEL PRESSURE MEASURED AT 12 PSI. ORDERED PARTS, BUT PACKING IS ON BACKORDER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN DOES NOT BLOW WHEN YOU TAP IT ON CERTAIN POSITIONS. THE INABILITY TO ALERT OTHER DRIVERS INCREASED THE RISK OF VEHICLE CRASH. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 483 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12900.
2008 VERSA, CAR STARTED MAKING WHINING NOISE, BROUGHT BACK AND WAS TOLD TIRES HAD CUPPING (SP?) AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER. NIGHT BEFORE DEALER APPT. BACK TIRED SHREDDED WHILE TRAVELING ON MAJOR INTERSTATE. LOOKED UP COMPLAINTS UNDER TIRES ON THIS SITE AND THERE IS A PENDING INVESTIGATION ONTO THE CONTINENTAL TIRES FOR "ALLEGE SUDDEN AND CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF TIRE INCLUDING TREAD SEPARATION" NISSAN DEALER SAYS THAT THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE BACK TIRE BECAUSE BLOW OUT WAS DUE TO ROAD HAZARDS. SENT THEM THE INVESTIGATION LINK. WAITING TO HEAR HOW THEY WILL HANDLE. THESE TIRES ARE DANGEROUS AND COULD BE PUTTING LIVES IN DANGER. (MILEAGE LISTED MAY BE 10-15 MILES LESS THAN ON ODOMETER... DO NOT HAVE VEHICLE STILL AT DEALERSHIP). *TR
SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL START THE FIRST TIME THE STARTER IS ENGAGED. SOMETIMES IT JUST CRANKS AND CRANKS. IT HAS NEVER COMPLETELY FAILED TO START, JUST SOMETIMES IT WON'T ON THE FIRST OR SECOND TRY. HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY LIKE THIS. *TR
WHEEL COVERS ON THE 2008 NISSAN VERSA DO NOT EVER SEAT PROPERLY ON THE OEM RIMS CAUSING THE WHEEL COVERS TO FLY OFF THE RIM WHEN DRIVING 50+MPH. *TR
2008 NISSAN VERSA-WHEN STARTED AFTER BEING SHUT OFF AND IDLE FOR ANYWHERE FROM 1 HR OR 24 HOURS, ENGINE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT TURN OVER IMMEDIATELY. SOMETIMES CRANKS FOR 10 SECONDS. IGNITION NEEDS TO BE TURNED TWO OR THREE TIMES BEFORE IT WILL START UP. VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 2200 MILES ON IT. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT GETTING THE PROPER GAS MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC DID NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. SHE WAS ADVISED TO KEEP CHECKING THE MILEAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY GETTING 21 MPG IN THE CITY AND 25 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALER STATED THAT SHE SHOULD BE GETTING 20-28 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY AND 27-30 MPG IN THE CITY. SHE FELT THAT THE DEALER LIED TO HER WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN REGARDS TO THE MILEAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,900.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A VERY LOUD RATTLING SOUND IN THE SLACK OF THE ENGINE. HE STATED THAT IT WAS A VALVE TRAIN NOISE. THE NOISE CAN BE HEARD AT 1,900 RPM AND WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT HAS NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THE ENGINE NOISE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 432.
EVERY TIME I RIDE IN THE NISSAN VERSA IT HAS A TOXIC EFFECT ON ME. I GET SHORT OF BREATH AND HAVE COUGHING ATTACKS. THIS WILL LAST DAYS AFTER BEING IN THE VEHICLE. THERE HAS TO BE SOME TOXIC ITEMS IN THE CAR FOR IT TO HAVE EFFECTS LIKE THIS ON ME. IT GETS WORSE AS TIME GOES ON. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I WAS DRIVING THE HIGHWAY AND OUR 2008 NISSAN VERSA LOST POWER. WHEN WE PULLED OVER, MY HUSBAND LIFTED THE HOOD AND FOUND THE DIPSTICK HAD CAME OUT AND OIL WAS ALL OVER THE ENGINE. OUR CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT AFTER NISSAN NORTH AMERICA WOULD NOT FIX OUR CAR CLAIMING IT WAS OUR FAULT . WE ONLY HAD OUR CAR FOR 8 MONTHS AND WE BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW! WE HAD MANY HEATED ARGUMENTS WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN NORTH AMERICA. THEN AFTER 23 DAYS AFTER THEN THEY CALLED ME WANTING TO PUT A NEW ENGINE IN OUR CAR . I REFUSED BECAUSE I WANTED A REFUND BECAUSE WE HAD TO BUY A 30 YEAR OLD TRUCK TO GET BACK AND FORTH FROM WORK. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE NORMALLY STARTS ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE STARTED SHORTLY AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED HER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE STARTER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE FAILURE TO THE DEALER ON EVERY SERVICE VISIT AND THE DEALER NEVER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER ON APRIL 13, 2011. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 489 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,200. UPDATED 05/05/11*LJ THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL REGULATOR. UPDATED
2008 NISSAN VERSA BACK PASSENGER HUB CAP ON TIRE HAS COME OFF TWICE AND I HAVE NOTIFIED DEALER OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS. I HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 5 OTHER CARS WITH MISSING HUP CAP AND I DO SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM. THE DEALER WANTS ME TO KEEP PURCHASING HUB CAPS. *TR
